This year is now almost to an end already!

Small garden and going on post today~

Have 2 big carrots in the current grow and a ton of new started sprouts. Guess it got too cold on one side and they've been napping for a bit. May need to see about a small hedgerow cover to trap heat at night. Probably could make that from old clear shower curtain and some small peices of wood.

I believe this is a praying mantis eggcase. Not quite sure which variety. In honesty I figured we lost out on them due to heat, not enough cover/food and the surplus of the assassin bee eaters I kept finding.

The one tomatoe is now begging to be well covered in the fruit, I'll need to get a cover on them soon as the wild birds keep pecking them out as they jsut ripen. I don't mind sharing a few, but it's been everyone this year :(

Been working on making noodles and crackers. so far I've got plain pumpkin+wheat and pumpkin+wheat+ egg yolk down okay enough, i feel

I did unfortunately over startch the boil water (which burned the noodles and flavored the sauce), so next time, I'll probably use a bigger pan and switch it out halfway so there's clean water.

Harvested and spread out the sunchoke tubers to grow more of them. Did not get to try them out yet. If anyone has, what was your thought on them?

They produced decently well in my opinion, little small the first year but the bigger and a deeper prepared bed probably would produce some good sized and number of them.

And did some cleanup of chicken alley. Thye got those hollyhocks nice and dusty back there lol. The clean up was mostly eeding out any grass and had material (both went to the chickens)

I got the seed table reset up and done.

Today I intend to do soem garden work, what kind yet I'm not certain. I do need to repot and clean up the vera plant. (The pot is falling apart) I'd also like to do some basic clean up to prepare for the new year and work on some goals towards a more successful garden and urban homestead this upcoming year.

Anyone started their new year resolutions with their goals of gardening, sustainability, homecookiny or otherwise? Care to share them?

i feel like they keep making bruce a bad father because they keep hiring writers who don't know him like at all nor the core values of someone with a good heart. like yeah humans make mistakes, but you know what heroes that people should look up to don't do?? beat their children, harm their children, belittle their children, etc etc. i think batman's most valuable trait should be the gentleness in which he treats children, especially his own. give me a Bruce who is so nervous about his kids doing anything that his flaw is him being overprotective, not *abusive.* because an abusive Batman is not Batman, and he's not a hero. if he is written as an abusive person, then he is no longer written as a hero. they can't have it both ways!!

I’m starting to see how things so easily went wrong for Macky. Wukong does NOT play around, even if you’re MK. Seeing him use the same spell LBD used to trap Macky on top of all this is making me LOSE IT.

Asides from how much angst Wukong gets from it. You would think it'd be like "oh I get to meet my friends in the next life" but nada, MK here is shook by it. Tho maybe it's because it's not natural, letting them live out to the end, but forcing it early?

Oregon [usa] has been shutting down small farms and market gardens in a pretty aggressive manner. They're even resorting to sending out cease and desist letters to these farms, using satellite tech to track them down first. Their justification? Water conservation and protecting groundwater. They're wielding two laws in particular to make this happen.

Hello everyone here's the update for now :)

The littlest peeps update

These ones will be moving to the 2+ month old grow space soon and I'll be putting together a 3rd grow out space before integrating the newbies.

In addition come the 23rd-27th, we've a potential for 6 more chicks (though we don't expect all 6 to hatch). These hatches will most likely be sold to pay for feed (our ultimate goal is to have them paying for themselves as much a spossible).

One of our "free seed" areas, this was jsut left to go wild with weed seeds and added seeds. I find it particulalry funny they had such a divide 😂 between the sunflowers and the mallow-weed. Among them looks as if theres some tomatoes and squash or watermelon along the back, though I'm keeping a close eye on both to be sure.

The adults were given all the stuff I pulled from this zone.

Stinkweed seems to be pretty spread this year :( it's invasive/considered a noxious weed . I pull it with extreme prejudice as I spot it and feed it to the hens. They slurp it up like spaghetti.

The carrots are going to flower 🤩 i am so excited for the butterflies, moths and even some of the pretty beetles and flies. I hope to catch some stunners to share!

Past that, there has been lots of rain, not sure if it's potentially early monsoon or just weather skewing but it rained pretty good the last two weeks.

So I've been cooking a bit this week and quilting.

I got some mending projects finished and dyed some clothes to "renew" them.

My apologies for the short post today, but I wanted to be sure to post something as it's been a bit again. Mostly due to weather and just waiting for sprouting actions to begin.

Bout to muse about something that is part headcanon part canon events

Tails is finally saved from his bullies by the (currently) small time hero he admires

Tails stalks follows his hero, uses his mechanical knowledge to improve Sonic's plane

While Tails follows Sonic around, even on dangerous journeys, the hedgehog keeps an eye out for the younger fox behind him, keeping him from being in too much danger

Sonic leads by example, demonstrating to Tails how to fight, and Tails runs maintenance on Sonic's plane and teaches him how to read

Soon enough, they become softly inseparable. Even if they can't adventure side by side (although they do more often than not), Sonic keeps contact with Tails whenever he can.

They strengthen each other's weak points. Where Tails lacks in raw strength, Sonic makes up for it with experience and speed. Where Sonic lacks in firepower, Tails has a machine, a gadget, or the technical know-how to take one. Sonic often rushes into danger, fighting without thinking too hard, but Tails' specialty is strategizing or making plans, and he's one of the few who can slow Sonic down enough to make sure he's prepared. And where Sonic supports Tails by being a force of nature, someone who can roll with the punches and execute one of Tails' plans with complete trust or faith, Tails also supports Sonic by understanding what he cannot, by crafting plans when Sonic is at a loss for how to proceed. They have such unwavering faith and trust in each other's abilities now.

Where Sonic is a hero, Tails is his own kind of hero, saving the people only he can save, helping in the ways only he can help. They support each other. They look out for each other. Even if Sonic is a force on his own, or Tails can go on solo adventures, they're more effective when they're together.

And no matter how things change as they grow, the people who come and go, the two of them are a constant. Sonic and Tails, ever at each other's sides.
