Ok, now that I hopefully got your attention:

Yes, for free, no payment whatsoever, no fine print, nothing. But I do need one thing in return. First, however, a little about me:

I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish and worked as a scientific editor for 2 years (I was formally trained to do this job, so my knowledge of English is pretty solid). I am currently trying to move to the publishing industry, but I have no experience editing fiction.

That is where you come in: the only thing I need is your consent to use an edited excerpt of your fanfic in my sample portfolio. This can be anonymous, and I can change any character names if you are more comfortable with it.

Because I do have a full-time, unrelated job, please expect me to take a little time to deliver. As for the fanfic length, I'd say anything under 10K goes. You can send me a single chapter as well if you want to.

I would ideally like to experiment with different levels of editing (developmental, line editing, copy editing), so please request whichever you prefer.

In terms of content... I am willing to edit anything, honestly. I have been reading fanfiction since before we had warning tags, and I frankly don't care. That being said, I might not be able to take you on if it is 100% just PWP (again, I want to use excerpts for my sample portfolio).

I am open to editing works from fandoms I am unfamiliar with, but you can give me a crash course on character dynamics if you think it's necessary.

And now for something completely different.

This is the ADHD Teapot. I made it in a ceramics class a few years ago. I use it to explain executive dysfunction to people who haven’t come across the term before (and those who think of ADHD mostly as Hyperactive Eight Year Old Boy Syndrome).

So, most people’s brains are like a regular shaped teapot with a single spout. Let’s say that your time, energy, focus etc is the liquid you have in the teapot. Your executive function is the spout, that directs the tea into the specific cup you want to fill-aka the task that you’re meant to be doing. Spills happen occasionally, but generally most of the tea goes in the right cup.

If you have executive dysfunction, (a symptom of ADHD, trauma, autism, schizophrenia etc.) you have multiple spouts going in different directions. You can try pointing one of them at your chosen cup and you will probably get some liquid in there, perhaps you will even fill it right up (finish the task). But meanwhile, tea is also pouring out of several other places and not going where you want it. If you have another container nearby, perhaps some of it will end up in there. But quite a lot of it is going to end up on the floor and accomplish nothing.

And at the end of the day you’ll have filled one or two cups ( or sometimes not even one) compared to the five or six that somebody with the same sized teapot (but only one spout) has filled, and everyone wonders why you’re so bad at getting tea poured, and why you make such a mess in the process.

One day I’d like to spend more time learning pottery and create a really technically good fucked up little adhd teapot. But that’s a long way off since i currently live in the outback and the nearest pottery workshop is some 400km away. But I figure that for now, it might be a useful or interesting metaphor to somebody even in its rough draft form.

A video of Palestinian man burning to death while still connected to an IV went viral after Israel firebombed a hospital and set tents on fire. I won't post the video or the pictures but I'd like to commemorated the victim.

This is Shaaban Al-Dalu. He had two sisters and a little brother. He was studying software engineering in the tent he died in. Shaaban was his family's sole provider. His mother died with him. May they rest in peace

Literally these people from Gaza have made an account on Tumblr and is writing in english to communicate what they need and you all are coming onto my blog or on the tag and not reblogging their posts. We have people both Palestinian and non Palestinian vetting the fundraisers! I mean more the reblogs, more the chance of the fundraisers gaining momemtum, the more there would be a chance of a donation. Please donate if you can and reblog!!! and follow them if it is possible.

@/mohammedayesh has posted about getting leaflets, telling them to evacuate Rafah. They are very low on funds. Go follow them and reblog their posts and donate if possible.

We have @/haneenatya too whose mother is suffering from eye stroke and need to evacuate. Please I have been following them for some days and it doesn't seem their own posts are getting much attention.

i have such a love for characters who descend into madness or villainy out of deep, deep empathy. characters who fundamentally cannot cope with the cruel realities they find themselves in and blow up about it in spectacular fashion. fallen angel type characters with tears of outrage in their eyes. characters who break before they bend, and break so badly they splatter blood all over their noble ideals. every variation on it gets me so good
