Phantom of the Opera mask and rose. Blackwork embroidery on 14-count Aida cloth.

This was done mostly as an experiment using the conveniently monochrome mask. I've done blackwork shading before by varying the stitch density, but I wanted to play around with varying the number of strands used. It half worked; the contrast between 1 and 2 strands turned out, but the contrast between 2 and 3 strands doesn't show as well. I was tempted to try 4 strands, but 3 was already pretty tight on 14-count. I also found that while I like the effect of varying strands of white thread, it looked untidy when done in colours, so the rose and leaves are all single-stranded.

I studied a diploma in fashion design and clothing industry at the Palestine Technical College in Deir al-Balah and graduated with a very good grade. I was the first in my class in two years. I worked for a year at an UNRWA Center, after which I created my own project and started Palestinian hand embroidery, which is part of the Palestinian heritage. I did embroidery on clothes and bags, and then after that I focused more on making bags in all forms. I embroidered the bag with different drawings, shapes and colors, and then completely customized it. I had my own workshop. Unfortunately, everything went from the beginning of October 7😥😥
