Cesium-133, let it be. Cesium-134, let it be even more.
Periodic Table Regions [Explained]
Transcript
[A periodic table with regions labeled.]
[Hydrogen:] Slightly fancy protons [Lithium and Beryllium:] Weird dirt [Group 1 & 2 metals, Periods 3-4:] Regular dirt [Group 1 & 2 metals, Periods 5-7:] Ends in a number, let it slumber ends in a letter, not much better [Left side of the transition metals group:] Boring alloy metals Probably critical to the spark plug industry or something (but one of them is radioactive so stay on your toes) [Most of the top row of the transition metals + aluminum:] Regular metals [Below the rightmost "regular metals" - the "ordinary metals" and some transition metals:] Weird metals [The platinum group:] $$$$ [Boron:] Boron (fool's carbon) [Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Phosphorus:] You are here [The Halogens:] Safety goggles required [Noble Gases:] Lawful neutral [Iodine and Radon:] Very specific health problems [Ordinary metals and metalloids - Arsenic, Antimony, Tellurium, Thallium, Lead, Bismuth, Polonium] Murder weapons [Astatine and Period 7 from Rutherfordium onwards:] Don't bother learning their names - they're not staying long [Lanthanides and Actinides:] Whoever figures out a better way to fit these up there gets the next Nobel Prize

We all had fun with geography class now onto science! take this quiz to name as many elements as you can :) [edit: now with north american and british spelling]
obligatory rb for sample size <3
#polls#science#chemistry#periodic table#yes i said i was going to make this like 3 weeks ago and i did i just forgot to actually post it shhhh#im a weirdo who has a decent chunk of the periodic table song memorized so im interested to see how many elements normal people know

Happy Valentine's Day!! Have you ever looked at the periodic table and thought, "This would make a great dating game"?? No??? Take a [quiz] to find out which element you are, and see which elements you can bond with! I made a TON of illustrations for this Doodle. Let me know your otp.

Table of the Elements in an Irregular Spiral. 1940s.
"Rainbow-colored periodic table of the elements designed in the style of an irregular spiral. Per text accompanying the table, the colors and construction of the table are designed to express the relationship among elements in terms of the repetition of certain chemical properties, with elements whose chemistry is almost identical grouped together in blocks or connected by solid arrows. Additionally, all related elements are represented with different shades of the same color."

FAQ
Q: did you get my ask?
A: I most likely have. If I'm not responding to your suggestions for a while that usually means I'm either planning to combine a bunch of people's ideas into a catto design, or I'm burnt out. I still look at all of your asks!
Q: when are you gonna do a cerveza cristal catto?
A: when a cosmic ray of the right wavelength hits my brain
Q: can I hug astatine
A: kids, in real life radioactive elements are very dangerous and do not like hugs! be careful!
Q: thoughts on this xkcd?
A: its awesome!!👍👍i LOVE xkcd
Q: homestuck?
A: yes i get it the cattos look kind of like homestuck characters and the lineart is pixelated like in homestuck. and helium is dave strider
Send me a tip$ (try using Chrome if it doesn't go through)

Some of my favorite of the bond illustrations, plus the full version of the completion reward illo, and some little concept sketches. Thanks everyone who played our Chemistry CuPd game! It's up in the [archive] if you ever want to check it out.

Are they aroace?
🧡 💛 🤍 🩵 💙
Reasoning: (Chemistry isn’t my thing, so you’re gonna have to bear with me here.)
Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon, Radon, and (more recently) Oganesson are the Noble Gases, the group of elements that occupy the Periodic Table’s rightmost column.
Why is water called H2O? Because water molecules are the product of two hydrogen atoms sharing electrons with an oxygen atom. When a chemical reaction is the result of atoms sharing electrons, it’s called a covalent bond.
The molecules that compose table salt (NaCl) are the product of a sodium atom donating one of its electrons to a chlorine atom. When a chemical reaction is the result of atoms donating electrons, it’s called an ionic bond.
Most of the elements on the Table can react with each other to form chemical compounds, either through covalent bonding or ionic bonding. The Noble Gases, however, are largely unreactive.
