Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but those people on Tic Tok making videos about "things they despise in fanfiction" under the sound of "Hard times" kind of rub me the wrong way. Like, sure. Paragraphs are nice. Longer chapters are nice. Using quotation marks is nice. But do you know how hard it is to write? Do you write? Do you edit? Do you constantly stress over your works because you are so freaking fearful that it sucks and that people will bash it?
Legitimately I'm wondering.
Because one person on a tiktok said they don't read chapters unless they're at least 2k words. Another said they want more people to write for Whumptober but they want more than a one-shot because they need more than just a 3k work. Another said they only read finished fics and they have to be 100k. Like??? I hate to break it to you, but you are the problem.
I write cause I love writing. I write cause I want to read the stories in my head as concrete ideas. It takes me about 10 hours to write a single chapter that's about 2k words. 10 hours! Not including editing. I worked on a 6k one shot for an entire month. My WIPs are long. 50k words or so, and I have bookmarks from people saying "Chapter 0."
It has taken me so much time and tears and thought to write the words I have written. If no-one read my WIP because it wasn't finished and they refuse to read unfinished works, that's such a shame.
You miss out that way.
This is how AI weasles it's way into artistic spaces. Because people lack patience and want instant gratification.
It just bugs me so much that this culture is becoming more hard-core pressed on consumption instead of community. Opinions are opinions. You can share your frustrations but remember, we are all people. A lot of children are learning to write on these websites. People that speak English as a second language are putting out their best works, and here you are; overly criticizing works based on chapter length and paragraph length and POVs and tenses.
Like, guys. Writing is fluid. It's growth. I'm not the same writer I used to be, and it's because people read my fics and spurred me along that I continued to grow.
This is all humanity. This is all fun.
Free.
It's a gift born from the creativity of an individual's heart, so how could I ever refer to someone's soul as "not good enough."
It's one thing to silently not read a fanfiction. It's another to publicly shame it. That kid whose vivid imagination led them to write about characters they love can see your comments and maybe because of it, they'll never write again.
Remember that.

Do you know of any Free, Open Source writing tools and aids?
plain text: Do you know of any Free, Open Source writing tools and aids?
Please submit them, either in an ask, a PM, or in the *Replies* of this post so they're easy to keep track of!
In the opposite direction of pro-ai, subscription based ""resources"" for writers, I would love to put together a masterpost of *Free, Open Source* programs on this blog, to help out any aspiring writers out there!
Let's start with the very basics, shall we?
Free and Open Source Word Processor:
(plain text: Free and Open Source Word Processor)
LibreOffice is community-driven and developed software, and is a project of the not-for-profit organization, The Document Foundation. LibreOffice is free and open source software, originally based on OpenOffice.org (commonly known as OpenOffice), and is the most actively developed OpenOffice.org successor project.

So, I actually am curious about this.
I use quite a few different programs for editing my work, specifically I prefer using ProWritingAid but have also used Grammerly in the past too before I wanted something with more features and specialized.
Both ProWritingAid, Grammerly, and other editing software often have features that can reword sentences for you for numerous reasons, such as getting rid of a "passive voice," for clarity, or just to make it sound better.
I'm not entirely sure what sort of program is running to do this. Is it AI based? Perhaps. Or maybe an algorithm of some kind? I am not sure. I know very little about software.
Personally, I find it really helpful and it speeds up the line editing, which I hate doing. Content editing and rewriting? Fine. LINE EDITING? Ugh.
But what is everyone else's opinion on this?

If I'm going to host Write Better Than ChatGPT writing streams, I have a problem, so I'm making it Tumblr's problem.
My real name isn't Kat. I've been Kat online for many years to avoid a stalker. He's not super active anymore, but showing my face on the internet still isn't the most secure life choice I could make. Stalker aside, I'm also a woman who doesn't look like a Hollywood starlet, and you know how the internet loves those.
I COULD use a static image of myself or point the camera at my lap so all you see is my hands (which I talk with) and my teddy bear, Wojtek. Or I could bite the bullet and show my (let's be honest) rather unexceptional face, which I know can be helpful for many learners. My question is:
As always, please reblog for sample size.

As mentioned in my last post, welcome to Aislynn's 1 Word For Each WIP November Extravaganza! (It was too long to fit all of that in the banner, so hence the number 4 coming in clutch, lol!)
Here's what I'm GOING TO write at least one word for in the month of November:
Halo the series
Tumblr media
"15 Minutes" - (John/Female Reader) Chapter 12 is in progress and will get progressiver (word of the day) by at least 1 more word! *nodnods*
Tumblr media
"Recreation" - (Kai/Male Reader) The final chapter will be slotting in between its sibling fic's *points up at "15M"* second to last and final chapter. I have notes on chapter 5 but no draft started... yet.
Tumblr media
"Untitled Fluffy Vannak fic" - (Vannak/Female Reader) Just a one-shot that I wanted to do for the big guy, something sweet and fun because he got VERY LITTLE of either in season 2. 😭The draft is already in progress.
I also would like to write a Reader fic for Riz since the entire rest of Silver Team is getting something 👀but have nothing on tap just yet.🤞😣🤞 One day, I hope, but I'm not counting this as part of my WIPs to be finished in November... unless I should get a heck of a lot of work done on everything else. 😉
Halo: Reach
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Choices: A Choose Your Own Spartan Adventure" - (Noble Team/Female Reader) One of the most personally ambitious things I've attempted in a while, the first chapter that sets up the adventure is almost done. Next to go are each of the chapters where you choose which Noble Team member you'll continue the adventure with. I have the plot for all of them but only Emile's has something written. We'll also be getting a separate chapters for female and male Noble Six, since we're all about, you know, choosing who you want to adventure with and Six can be either in the game. 😎👍
The Flash
Tumblr media
"The Price" (NSFW) - (Caitlin Frost/Hunter Zolomon) I've known what's going to happen in chapter 2 for a quite a while now. Just got to write it... one word at a time, right?
Tumblr media
"Guardian Angel" - (Time Wraith!Caitlin Snow/Eobard Thawne) About 1/3 of chapter 3 has been done for, umm, years now. Just need to push it on through a little bit more! I'm not sure how many chapters in all it will be, at least this one and a 4th but that may be enough to finish it. We'll see!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Split" - (Caitlin Snow/Eobard Thawne) The third and final fic in the Ghost of Eobard Thawne series turned out, to my surprise, to have 3 very ragged first drafts and part of a 4th chapter just hanging out in my Word docs after all of these years. I still have my *surprised Pikachu face* on for this one, what can I say? 🤷‍♀️😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Try" (NSFW) - (TomCav!Eobard Thawne/Caitlin Snow/Mattobard!Eobard Thawne) Oh yeah, I went there. After all of the versions of them that I've written, the only really surprising thing is that I didn't do this a lot sooner, lol! This one has 3 chapters of almost 8k words done that nobody has ever read. It's weirdly one of the few times I did world-building, too. It's projected to be pretty big, 20-25 chapters, so maybe 50k words? 😱 It's a really big undertaking for something that's honestly just for me but... I'd really like to be able to read the entire thing one day, lol! And there's only one way to do that: I've got to write it, one word at a time. 🤷‍♀️😉
I may have totally forgotten something but this was all that showed up in my WIPs folder. Of course, that folder was imperfectly copied from my previous computer and I had to go looking for several of these, so who knows. If I missed something, feel free to let me know.
So wish me luck, frens! This is a challenge I KNOW I can do and I'm so excited about it! 🥳🎉🎊💖

So…AI and AO3 bullshit is on the horizon again. Cool cool cool super fucking cool. Today will be the last day my stories will be free to read for public consumption on AO3 specifically, only registered users will be able to read/comment☠️ time to lock ‘er down boys.
Tumblr media
Yes I’m aware this might kill my reach but I’d rather post the full chapters to Wattpad and Tumblr if it means AI can’t lift it.

LOCKED AWAY HEART
A heart encased in frost so deep,
Where once love dared, now shadows creep.
From wounds that cut, her strength was sown,
She built her throne of cold, alone.
Betrayal’s chill turned flame to stone,
A crown she bore for none to own.
Power grew in hollowed halls,
Where feelings slept behind frozen walls.

Hey guys! So I haven't been on Tumblr like, at all for the past few weeks because of this ask I got:
Tumblr media
I'm not gonna lie, I've been pretty much furious since I first read it, and so I decided to take a break from the internet while I worked through my feelings and decided how I wanted to respond to this. If you're reading this at all, please do me a favor and read all the way through this post. It's a little long, but it's also very very very important.
First of all, let's get one thing straight: I will NEVER consider using AI to write my stories or otherwise for about a thousand reasons, two of the big ones being respect for myself and my fellow creators, AND the fact that it "learns" to write stories and spits out responses based off of plagiarized work. Like mine, which was taken and fed into chatgpt without my consent. Using programs like this is not even remotely harmless, and I will never be one of the people putting shit into programs like chatgpt.
Additionally, this is illegal. Beyond the fact that it's ridiculously disrespectful of creators, under US copyright law, the elements of my writing that I created, including characters and scenarios, are my intellectual property. Taking my work and feeding it to the AI without my permission (and no one will EVER have my permission) is a violation of the law and also goes against Tumblr's terms of service.
If you are continuing to use, support, or otherwise feed the AI, seriously educate yourself and stop, or never fucking come near me again.
Right here is a link to a post that includes a legal disclaimer that I'll be putting with all my fics now making people aware that putting my work and my writing into AI programs is not only not okay, it is also illegal. I'm sharing it like this for anyone else who wants to use it too, to educate themselves on the law or otherwise. It's written by a legit lawyer and the sources are cited, so it's not just me screaming into the void.
I've been going back and forth for a while now on what the hell to do about this ask I got, because I absolutely love writing fic and sharing it with all of you. And it doesn't feel right to me that so many of my wonderful readers who have supported me for so long have to deal with the consequences of a few assholes. But I want to write professionally some day, and I am not okay with my voice, style, and words being fed into some machine to be plagiarized by both the people stealing my work and the people running and making money off of programs like chatgpt.
I debated for a while about taking down all my writing and just calling it a day, because as long as it's up I know that it's possible, despite my best efforts to protect my work, that people will still rip it off. However, I truly love writing fic and writing in general, and a big part of that has come from the incredible interactions that I've been able to have with people on here. There's something special about the feeling of sharing a story, and I will not let a minority of assholes ruin that for me or the people who choose to read my work and be good humans about it.
That said, I am going to take a little break from writing. I have no idea how short or long it might be, but right now I'm a little over it all, so I'm going to take a step back from requests and oneshots and everything else for right now. This is hitting in the middle of the Year of Themed Creation and it also came right before an event called Daniel Sousa Appreciation Week, so if you had requests or expectations for those events, I'm sorry. I hope you guys can understand where I'm coming from, and thank you for supporting me as much as you have.
I still plan to be online (I love Tumblr and fully believe it's the only useable social media), I just won't be posting my writing. Hopefully, it'll free up some time for me to do some reading and commenting instead, so I can support my fellow creators!
Tl;dr and a final ask for anyone who read all this: please, please, PLEASE don't feed the AI. Respect your content creators and recognize just how much of what the AI spits out is ripped off of the thoughts, ideas, and words of someone else, often without their permission. Fight for art and the people who make it.

Everyone LISTEN UP!!
Tumblr is now allowing generative models (ai) to scrape your data and hard work.
Tumblr media
I'd suggest sending in reviews on the app store of your choosing to let them and other users know that this is not a safe app any longer as well as any critiques.
You'd think they'd learn to not backstab their users by now, need we remind what happened when they removed a core keystone of their platform?
Tumblr staff and ceo, what do you think will happen when you remove the artists and writers that make up the near ENTIRETY of your platform??!!
Saying "we wont scrape your data UNLESS its companies you partner with" is NOT an assurance, you know it isn't!
Oh and we cannot forget how this shill of a company covertly supports nazis on the platform while immediately blasting black, queer, and palisti nian content for hurting their fewees.
Set your settings as shown above.
Fun fact of the day: they love to keep an eye on how many have their app downloaded, pretty important fun fact of the day, just saying ;3

In the digital age, the advent of AI writer for musicians represents the latest chapter in this ongoing saga of innovation, offering a glimpse into the future of music composition and creation.
At its core, AI writer for musicians is a revolutionary tool powered by artificial intelligence algorithms. Trained on vast repositories of musical data spanning genres, styles, and eras, these AI systems possess a deep understanding of music theory, structure, and composition. By analyzing patterns, trends, and correlations within the music, AI writers can generate original compositions, suggest melodic motifs, and even provide real-time feedback to guide the creative process.
Tumblr media
The allure of AI writer for musicians lies in its ability to augment human creativity and inspire new musical directions. By providing a vast reservoir of musical ideas and possibilities, AI writers serve as invaluable companions in the creative journey, offering fresh perspectives and innovative insights to enrich the artistic process. Whether it's exploring unconventional chord progressions, experimenting with rhythmic variations, or blending genres and styles, AI writers empower musicians to push the boundaries of their creativity and forge new artistic frontiers.
Moreover, AI writer for musicians streamlines the composition process, enabling artists to navigate the complexities of music creation with ease and efficiency. Traditionally, composing music involved hours of trial and error, painstaking refinement, and iterative experimentation. However, with the aid of AI, musicians can expedite this process significantly, allowing them to explore a multitude of ideas and possibilities in a fraction of the time. This not only accelerates the pace of composition but also liberates artists from the constraints of traditional methods, fostering a more fluid and intuitive creative workflow.

Despite the myriad benefits of AI writer for musicians, some may express concerns about the role of technology in music creation. Critics argue that relying too heavily on AI may compromise the authenticity and originality of musical expression, leading to homogenized and formulaic compositions. However, proponents counter that AI should be viewed as a tool to enhance human creativity rather than replace it entirely. By embracing the capabilities of AI, musicians can unlock new realms of artistic expression, explore uncharted musical territories, and shape the future of music in unprecedented ways.
In conclusion, the emergence of AI writer for musicians marks a pivotal moment in the chronicles of musical innovation. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, musicians can simplify the composition process, amplify their creativity, and unlock new realms of artistic expression.
