Retro During Quarantine

Buying retro games can be a difficult thing to begin with. Especially if you’re impatient like myself. I have one of those instant satisfaction type of personalities, I will pay extra to what I want immediately and I’ll often buy things I only kind of want because it somewhat fills a need I’m looking for. Such as buying a crappy action rpg because I need an Action RPG stat. 

Sometimes this leads to disappointment but often it leads to me being surprised with something new that I might not have tried if I spent more time trying to get something exact. Anyway, I don’t use online shopping much outside of digital games and amazon. Amazon is not great for retro gaming as things are often even more expensive than even I’d waste money on. So that really only leaves physical shopping for me.

I cam from Sheboygan, Wisconsin recently where we had a pretty well know retro store called Freaktoyz. It’s a really neat nerdery where you can find anything, old action figures, arcade cabinets, legos, games, etc. But now that I’m in a country town in Tennessee I’m having a harder time finding retro stuff. We have one shop, Game X Change and recently they did something shady. 

Game X Change had all their stores remain open despite quarantine rules in many states requesting all non-essential stores be closed. Entertainment is one such non-essential but GXC stayed open and on top of that gave false information to the staff in attempts to “protect” them from Covid-19. That’s shady as fug bruh. Thankfully my local store had the sense to shut down during this. But that also means I don’t have anywhere local to buy.

So I’m kind of just sitting here, waiting, working, sleeping, eating, etc. Trying to kill time. I just moved here not too long ago so I don’t have much I can share quite yet, but I really look forward to posting hauls and blog posts about the stuff I get. Guess I might have to cave and do some online shopping. But soon the quarantine’s time limit is tomorrow so I’ll see soon what our governor has to say and see if I can get to GXC. I may not like the business practices they have but the people working there are good and had the sense to shut down even if corporate didn’t. So this specific one is deserving of support, I think.

Anyway, only thing I’ve got going on is tomorrow I have a new controller coming in. It’s the 8bitdo’s SN30 Pro, it’s a wireless snes controller with analog sticks and it’s gamecube indigo colored. It’s pretty neat and I look forward to testing it and telling everyone about it.
