I think it's so important for queer people to look out for younger queers.

Like, shout out to the 50-something fransfem non-binary lesbian I met at trans pride who I gave a badge to and she told me about the first ever trans pride parade in that city which took place far before I would have been old enough to attend let alone remember.

But also, shout out to the also trans woman (honestly so many of the cool people I've met are transfem) who scooped me up at pride when I was 15 after my friends fucked off to do god knows what and made sure I was okay and invited me to sit with her friends until I was sober enough to safely get the train home, despite the fact that she and her friends were all in their late teens to early 20s.

And also also, shout out to the first person I ever met irl who had top surgery scars, and answered all my questions about T and surgery, and gave me his old platforms that didn't fit anymore (I still wear them almost every day).

I've literally and metaphorically cried on the shoulders of so many basically-strangers. Random people who care about other people, whether it's because I reminded them of themselves, or just because they were kind. Those people are the backbone of so many people's lives and I don't think a lot of them realise how amazing they actually are.

There is a reason I and so many other people feel instantly safe when we see a visibly queer person a few years older than us out in public.

I hope to fuck that one day I get to pass on the experience to someone else who needs it.
