In every corner of Gaza, under siege, we hear words like "We will return," "We stand firm," and "We will ascend to heaven." Words spoken by people who dreamed of a future, a life, a return that never came. Children, young adults, men—they had dreams like anyone else. A little boy once said with confidence, "When I grow up, I'll be a soccer star." But that dream was silenced in a single moment, amid the rubble and the dust. They all perished in random bombings, leaving their dreams echoing in our hearts.

We face the same cruelty, caught between loss and fear of what lies ahead. My family and I try to stay strong, but a harsh winter is approaching, and we have no warm shelter, only thin clothes that cannot keep out the cold, and supplies that run out day by day. My child, Hamoud, like every Palestinian child, doesn’t understand why the world has become so harsh, or why he is denied the warmth and life he deserves.

Today my family and I say our word, don't forget it🥹

From future teacher to homeless person 💔

My story and hope for survival😭

I am Israa Alwan, a young woman who once had big dreams and was ready to achieve them. After years of hard work and study, I finally received my degree in Early Childhood Education. It was an indescribable joy, knowing I was about to start my journey as a teacher, to help shape young minds and walk alongside them in their first steps toward knowledge.

But my dream didn’t last. The war came and turned my life upside down. My home, which was once a safe haven, is now rubble, and I am left with only a few belongings and a shattered bag of dreams. Now, I am without a home, a job, or any sense of security. I move from place to place with my family, searching for a shelter to protect our children and the sick from the cold winter and the scorching summer.

My brother Shadi, who has always been my strength and support, now bears the heavy responsibility of caring for our entire family, doing everything he can to protect us and provide us with the bare essentials, despite the harsh conditions😭😭😭

Today, I reach out to you, driven by a shared humanity, seeking your support to help us survive and find a way out of this life that was forced upon us.

what pisses me off most seeing the new bill in NZ parliament designed to destabilise its treaty with the Maori people is that no government in the history of Australia has even attempted to offer or put into place the same legal respect or cooperation to its Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island constituents. like knowing that even after all that progress, those in power will still rally to continue the genocide of a colonised people as a means to retain and consolidate that power. and it will ultimately achieve nothing that will improve the lives of its countrymen. its a meaningless power play that seeks to restore the self-obsessed "sovereignty" of the white man, of the pakeha, of the European or the Aryan or the Anglo-Saxon. pathetic
