Hate (affectionate) how it's made so clear from the very beginning of part 1 just how loved Paul is by his family and household. Both his parents, Duncan, Gurney, Thufir, even Dr Yueh all clearly care so deeply for this kid, and we're shown that time and time again.
Cut to the end of part two, and almost every one of those people is gone. The only ones who remain are a weird, came-back-wrong version of Jessica, and Gurney who has gone from mentor to worshipper. Paul goes from someone deeply loved and valued for who he is by a small but caring group of people - to someone followed and worshipped and feared by thousands. They're obsessed with him in a way, as a leader and "messiah", but nobody loves him.
The only one remaining who loves him for who he is is Chani, who leaves him because in the end that love isn't enough to bring who he is back.

Just because YOU don't like a piece of media because YOU think it's cringe and poorly written doesn't mean others don't like it. And just because YOU like a piece of media doesn't mean everyone likes it. You get? Great, now keep that in mind and stop shitting on media and people who enjoy that media AND HOW PEOPLE CHOOSE TO ENJOY THOSE MEDIAS. This goes with ships and characters too btw!!

One of the most ironic things in HOO is how Rick reversed the “godly parents don’t want their kids” to “no, kids don’t want THEIR godly parent”
You meet Piper and she rambles about how she’d want to be a daughter of Artemis if she wasn’t a virgin goddess. How she thought Athena and her kids were so cool that she wanted to join the cabin. Makes it clear that she DOESN’T want to be a child of Aphrodite. Gets claimed and makes it abundantly clear she’s Tristan McLean’s daughter first and Aphrodite’s second. Yeah, she’s arguing with her dad right now, but at least he was there the last 15 years. Yeah, there’s a war coming up, but she’s on this quest for her FATHER. And also her friends.
Enter Frank who wanted to be a son of Apollo so badly. Figured since the only thing he was good at was a bow and arrow then the sun god HAD to be his father. Was looking forward to finally being claimed by the god of archery. Gets claimed by the god of war and starts blue screening because he can’t, for the life of him, believe it.
Then there’s Hazel, who had trouble wrapping her head around the whole demigod thing in the first place. What do you MEAN that pale white man who looks like a dictator is her father? It’s the 40s; that type of stuff doesn’t happen. And that the boy who looks like needs a home cooked meal and some sleep is her brother? Blasphemy. Absolutely not.
And then you have the original, Perseus himself. Son of Poseidon? No, he’s Sally Jackson’s son. Retrieve the lightning bolt? For what? A deadbeat? Who cares about some upcoming war, that has nothing to do with him. No he’s not going on a suicide quest for glory. CERTAINLY not glory for his so called father. For his mom? Absolutely. You want him to fight for his father? Sorry, he doesn’t fuck with him like that. He’ll fight for his friends though.

Has anyone ever considered the different courting methods the Elite Trine would probably have? They’re very different mechs in personality, I can imagine their methods of wooing others are just as unique from each other.
Starscream probably tries to show off his brains, his maneuverability. He makes an active effort to prove how clever and intellectual he is. Maybe he tries to share his discoveries, show off his research. One thing he certainly does though, is show off in the sky. Sharp twists and turns, pulling specifically hard maneuvers to simply show off. Dives and barrel rolls, free falls, anything to capture attention.
Skywarp is definitely more proactive than him though, offering gifts. I bet you he’s the kind of mech to spend hours looking for the perfect gift. Everything needs to be perfect, everything needs to be just as beautiful as his partner, even if it’s just something simple like a rock. He also fusses over them, asking questions on questions whenever they’re in proximity.
Thundercracker is more upfront though, as a writer that is how he expresses himself. He most certainly writes letters, poems, for them. On top of that, he’s so much more open with his wings, they give him away entirely. Moving in a way that resembles dancing, using his wings attempt to woo his partner.
They’re just silly little guys and I love them :)

Writing Notes: Memory
Tumblr media
Memory - a single term that reflects a number of different abilities: holding information briefly while working with it (working memory), remembering episodes of one’s life and our general knowledge of facts of the world among other types.
Memory involves 3 processes:
Encoding information – attending to information and relating it to past learning
Storing – maintaining information over time
Retrieving – accessing the information when you need it
The information processing model of memory is a useful way to represent how information from the world is integrated with the knowledge networks of information that already exist in our minds.
Sensory Memory
The part of the memory system in which information is translated from physical energy into neural signals.
This is part of the encoding process.
We receive information from our environment and we must perceive it and attend to it before it can move to our working memory.
Short-Term Memory (working memory)
The part of the memory system in which information can be temporarily stored in the present state of awareness.
This type of memory is limited to 7 items of capacity and 7 to 30 seconds of duration on average.
Long-Term Memory
The part of the memory system in which information can be permanently stored for an extended period of time.
It has a large to unlimited capacity and a duration that may last from minutes to a lifetime.
Semantic Memory
The type of long-term memory about general facts, ideas, or concepts that are not associated with emotions and personal experience.
Episodic Memory
A type of long-term memory about events taking place at a specific time and place in a person’s life.
This memory is contextualized (i.e., where, who, when, why) in relation to events and what they mean emotionally to an individual.
MEMORY FAILURES
Can occur at any stage, leading to forgetting or to having false memories.
The key to improving one’s memory is to improve processes of encoding and to use techniques that guarantee effective retrieval.
Good encoding techniques include:
relating new information to what one already knows,
forming mental images, and
creating associations among information that needs to be remembered.
The key to good retrieval is developing effective cues that will lead the person back to the encoded information.
Classic mnemonic systems can greatly improve one’s memory abilities.
MEMORY & CULTURE
Many of our memories are personal and unique to us but cultural psychologists and researchers have found that the average age of first memories varies up to two years between different cultures.
Researchers believe that enculturation and cultural values influence childhood memories.
Example: The way parents and other adults discuss, or don’t discuss, the events in children’s lives influences the way the children will later remember those events.
Mullen (1994) found that Asian and Asian-American undergraduates’ memories, on average, happened six months later than the Caucasian students’ memories.
These results were repeated in a sample of native Korean participants, only this time the differences were even larger.
The difference between Caucasian participants and native Korean participants was almost 16 months.
Hayne (2000) also found that Asian adults’ first memories were later than Caucasians’ but Maori adults’ (native population from New Zealand) memories reached even further back to around age three.
These results do not mean that Caucasians or Maoris have better memories than Asians but rather people have the types of memories that they need to get along well in the world they inhabit – memories exist within cultural context.
Example: Maori culture is focused on personal history and stories to a greater degree than American culture and Asian culture.
Individualistic & Collectivist Cultures
Differences in memory could also be explained by the values of individualistic and collectivist cultures.
Individualistic cultures tend to be independently oriented with an emphasis on standing out and being unique.
Interpersonal harmony and making the group work is the emphasis of collectivist cultures and the way in which people connect to each other is less often through sharing memories of personal events.
In some cultures, personal memory isn’t nearly as important as it is to people from individualistic cultures.

Headcanon that at 10 years old PureBlood family’s force their children to attend a cotillion.
(Basically to teach respectful manners to young people so they can go out into society and thrive. And help with marriages, and dance moves for when they attend balls)
