40 Day Anime Challenge Day 7- Character you want to marry: Victor Frankenstein (Fran) from Code:Realize (2017) based on the otome game of the same name from 2014. **Spoiler Alert**

Synopsis (from fandom.com): "Lonely Cardia is isolated from the world because her body carries a deadly poison that rots or melts anything her skin touches. Tl;dr: I found a good guy that I love even more than all the bad boys I love. This will be a long Fran appreciation post lol

Alright, it finally happened after 14 years, someone knocked Fai out of my “character I want to marry slot” (@sailorstarr-chan4 read and be shocked) because FRAN IS SO SWEET AND KIND AND PURE AND TBH HE IS MARRIAGE GOALS!!!!!!

His smile is so precious- and not a hint of teasing or malice or anything I usually go for in my anime smiles, but just pure kindness!

He is the epitome of shy boy omg precious bean UwU

And he is sooooooooo pure! For context, he’s a doctor trying to help Cardia (the MC) and he’s being teased about “examining her body” and it broke his poor innocent brain lmao

Boy has no self esteem- also a departure from the swaggering smooth talkers I typically go for. He kind of hates himself for something that isn’t even his fault. But it’s okay things get better!

He definitely does not see himself as good enough for Cardia despite the fact that he is the most healthy and respectful character in the franchise! (Total departure from the typical possessive borderline creepy otome boy)

While the other boys fight with guns and knives, he fights with chemicals, which I give massive style points for!

He can be the bad guy when he needs to be, like when he threatened to blow up the queen to remove a bounty placed on Cardia and the others’ heads because of the queen’s grudge against him. To be fair, he tried to bluff her first but she called it.

He starts off seeing Cardia as someone he needs to protect, but as she becomes more able to handle herself in a fight, he starts to see her as an equal and a partner. Look at that smile after she saves him! (About 12 hours prior she saved him and he lectured her for risking himself for him but she makes it clear she will take no shit, then they need to save each other several times because they’re being hunted, and now look at him! Nothing but respect, awe, and trust!)

He will 100% sacrifice his life for her tho

It’s even sadder in the anime because we all know Lupin will be canon and Fran knows it too so he never confesses his feelings but does everything he can to ensure she survives so she can be happy with Lupin. HE HELPS HER BECAUSE HE CARES NOT BECAUSE HE EXPECTS ANYTHING IN RETURN OMFG

I Have Evolving Thoughts on Fran’s Sexuality

(god hannah dodd is so pretty)

First of all let’s thank GOD francesca is the queer sister and not…that other one.

Anyways upon my initial viewing of part 2 I definitely read Fran as bisexual and if you continue to read her as such I think that’s fine but my mind has changed on the matter.

I believe that Fran is actually a lesbian suffering from comphet.

The reason this actually started to seem likely to me is because of her wedding scene with John. The whole season I thought they seemed so taken with one another and I enjoyed their quiet dynamic. They were more than comfortable sitting in silence with one another and seemed to grow closer in that way.

I like many others assumed this meant their love was romantic, but that kiss

Would a woman who is attracted to men make this face after kissing the man she loves? I don’t think so. Some people seem to think it’s because she’s shy but it doesn’t seem like she’s even thinking about her family here. It seems like she has retreated into her own thoughts. It seems like she was disappointed. And after spending the whole season feeling nothing for any of the men she meets why wouldn’t she be. She met a man she loved and she kissed him and she didn’t feel those sparks.

Now Fran is also autistic coded so this initially affected the way I viewed her relationships as well, but all of that changes when you take into account Michaela.

Francesca immediately starts to stutter and is flustered when she sees Michaela. We have never seen Fran act this way with a man, even her husband. It wasn’t for no reason that Violet describes how she felt the first time she fell in love with Edmund and then almost immediately after Fran reacts the same way to Michaela. The butterflies, not being able to string a sentence together. This was foreshadowing.

Some people were upset because they said it erased everything Fran said about having a quiet love and that is somewhat true, but I disagree with people saying that it erases slowly built love when Polin’s whole story is about love not striking you like a bolt of lightning.

None of this is to say she can’t love John, I believe she does I just feel it is platonic, and the loss of John would hit hard even if he was her best friend. John is one of the great loves of her life but who is to say that love is romantic? Friendships are the foundation of our lives and they are equally as important as any romantic relationship. Fran met someone who understands her and is like her, that doesn’t mean she has to have romantic attraction for him.

Some of this is affected by personal bias as I am a late-blooming lesbian, but holy shit the way I relate to Fran wanting to get married just because it would mean she wouldn’t have to pursue any other relationships with men and the way she was willing to accept whoever the Queen deemed fit because she didn’t have any criteria except “is kind to me”. Fran does not seem to be searching for love as she has not felt it before. The closest she comes is with John because the two of them are so similar and I believe she thought that because she liked him so much that she must be in love with him which is just so…lesbian coded I don’t know how to explain it.

This isn’t to say bisexuality isn’t real or is “just a phase”. Ew. Gross. No. This is just the way I am interpreting the character with the information we have now. If it comes out definitely that she is bisexual then I will accept that, sapphic rep is so needed.

All in all they look so good and I can’t wait to see these queers kiss and have a romance.

Also I think that Michaela still could have fallen first. Fran just realized she was a dyke at that exact moment and her brain stopped working which is valid. But did you see the way Michaela looked at her. I KNOW A LESBIAN FALLING IN LOVE WHEN I SEE ONE.

Jess mentioned this will be the most book-accurate season, that it's a proper adaptation. Of course, I added a few things:

Christmas time! Servants' ball

I think it'd be cute if the girls gift Sophie a brand new dress for her to wear at the Servant's ball.

The kite scene goes instead of the game of blind man’s bluff. I'm not sure how that would make Benedict realize Sophie is the LIS but the scene fits with the season and a Korean kite-flying tradition called Yeonnalligi. (Check this post)

Anthony being worried about Benophie cause he thinks Sophie is like Sienna. (Check this post)

Flashbacks -> It seems they will keep Sophie's illegitimacy a secret, so I think it would be good if the flashback comes once Benedict figures it out.

some early Ledgerton headcanons before I go to class:

Anthony wore eyeliner on stage during the first few tours, this is why everyone thirsts over him. that man was building an army

Benedict has a collection of t-shirts with really stupid slogans on them. some of them include "British people aren't real." "I put the bi in bitch ass" "gaslighting is a myth. you're just crazy" "I got lockjaw at the dicksucking factory and all I got was lockjaw as previously mentioned" my personal favorite one is his paparazzi shirt that's just a qr code that directs you to a website that gives ur phone a virus

Colin had a phase where he would wear sunglasses while performing (even if it was the darkest fuckass venue at night) and eventually thank God he realized how stupid that was so he would end up throwing the sunglasses to the crowd and they'd fight over it. he threw around 60 pairs. also for a little while when pen was on tour with them he would borrow her heart shaped sunglasses to wear on stage

Francesca wears headphones sometimes so she doesn't get overwhelmed or overstimulated on stage it's connected to the bass so she can keep time but Fran is more musically in tune so she doesn't really need it.

Eloise used to go to their early shows and heckle them for the fun of it. it was funny for a bit it really was

Daphne used to coordinate their outfits when they did interviews or whenever they had press to do. essentially she was their stylist and gave each of them their own personal motif or style when it came to dressing. if you've ever seen a picture of Queen where theyre all wearing different aesthetics, that's vaguely what the Ledgertons have going on in there. anthony is dressed like a signature bad boy with like a leather jacket. Colin is somewhat piratey and Ben looks like a lost fae prince. when Fran joined she dressed like a disaster bisexual. think Phoebe buffay in the first few seasons of friends.

Ok I apologize because it's going to be a bit of a bigger group than the actual Tsubasa crew- this basically turned into my apocalypse survival team because who knows what I'm facing if I'm traveling between worlds! So here are my fellow travellers:

Osamu Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs)- He's gun trained and has the ability to negate magical abilities (of course I don't know if that ability works outside of his world but it's a chance I'm willing to take!) And he hides his true capabilities behind his comedic relief façade and I'm here for it (basically he's my Fai stand-in because you said I can't include Fai!)

Twelve (Terror in Resonance)- bomb expert, highly resourceful in combat, and an absolute sweetheart! He'd help with group morale.

and speaking of morale....

Honda Tohru (Fruits Basket)- Because we need someone in this crew that does not have a sociopathic bone in their body! She'd be the moral support and moral compass of the whole crew, and the smol bean we all rally to protect! Also, I'm sure she can negotiate with any of our enemies- she tends to make people like her whether they want to or not!

Kamado Nezuko (Demon Slayer)- obviously we need someone who can decapitate someone with a kick but also be a cute smol bean that just wants belly scritches!

Rachel Gardner (Angels of Death): Because she's smart enough to get us out of any pinch! And because I want to see her frozen heart warmed by Tohru and kitty!Nezuko

Hinakawa Sho (Psycho Pass)- Because every successful apocalypse survi- I mean, travelling group needs a hacker. How else are we getting visas and foreign currency in every world we visit? Hopefully they all code the same lol (Also Sho is a precious baby)

Victor Frankenstein aka Fran (Code:Realize)- Look, you never know when you are going to end up in a world with more expensive healthcare than the USA, and as most likely penniless travelers, having our own doctor could be the difference between life and death. Also, he is probably the most psychologically healthy and level-headed person on the team (except maybe Tohru, but he has life experience to prepare him for whatever dark twisted worlds we may end up in, whereas Tohru is a bit naïve)

Baby PJ! (This will never come out in fic, so I'll answer it here)

I waffled back and forth on that for a long time. I knew a new kid would be introduced the next time I returned and it was between Creloise and Grucy.

I ultimately landed on Creloise because I liked the idea of them only having one kid in a sea of family members with at least two and being those parents who are very minimalistic condo coded and have one corner that is just full-on little kid zone.

I will note that in this universe, they were both reluctant for different reasons. Cress came around in the quiet moments with Andrew and Thomas. She found that she could be loving and tender and had the skills even though her parents gave her a terrible example.

El was stuck in her fear of what if something bad happened and Cress ended up alone with their kid. Fran and Ben had to sit her down and say, "What if something great happens?" and "Do you think we would let Cress be alone?" Once she worked through that grief left by her father, she realized, like having a wedding, this was something she wanted, not because of society, but because she loved Cress.

You guys bond over your shared interested in sewing! You both make plushes! For you it's more so for gift giving, and for ragatha she does it to pass time! I like to think you guys both have nights where you just hang out, either in her room or yours, and just. Chat and sew! Probably finds your weirdness a little endearing in it's own way; afterall never once were you malicious, in fact you're quite kind to everyone around you and are more than willing to offer second chances even to those who dont deserve it. You and ragatha would be really good friends, I think!

JAX:

Finds your weirdness a little annoying and he probably asks you a ton of stupid questions on purpose. Probably asks a stream of dumb ones before asking one he knows will peak your interest, but insist he needs to go do something when you start answering. That aside he has probably asked if you could build him a funky little gadget (that he totally wont use for mischief).. probably tries to get all buddybuddy with you because he knows you wont give it to him for the...actual reason he wants

You personally dont hate him, but theres no real solid friendship there I think

KINGER:

Ah, the two strange father figures! Both with funky interests; kingers is bugs and yours is forks! ....okay well it's hard to combine those two interest so I guess we can use a different one, mechanics! You've definitely made kinger wind up robotic bugs before, and the fact it made him happy makes you happy! You guys both have a habit of spacing out, though on different levels and for different reasons...you both mutually keep an eye on one another, though!

You've probably dreamed of building a flying machine and escaping this place at least once, leaving with kinger. Too bad the reality isnt going to be that simple.. besides you'd bring everyone with you anyways

honestly they get annoyed how sometimes you dont give direct answers and be vague when you're asked for a solution. It's not that you're trying to be malicious or incompetent, youre just trying to push for everyone to get creative and explore the world around them themselves, you know? Finds it a little off how you sometimes zone out, as if youre thinking about a dozen things at once... but nonetheless, zooble cant bring themselves to hate you. In fact you have this weird comforting aura around you.

Youre so so nice with her and always trying to build her up. And honestly I think that's so sweet. Hugs. Give hugs! Side note I bet itward gives the most comforting hugs so by extension the reader gives the most comforting hugs!! You're always there to stand up for her, too, when people *cough cough jax* are mean to her. You probably also try to helo her make a new mask... not like "oh you help her fix her masks" no I mean like you try to make her a mask that's made of a stronger material so it's harder to break

Honestly I cant see a romantic relationship between a reader like this and gangle, I personally see it more as close friends or even found family

OKAY SO in my mind he's a fighting type specialist who also dabbles in fire type. he also happens to have just as many dark types as he does fighting and fire Wow hah a i wonder why that may be. this is his team

-> armarouge (fire/psychic) matches with dream's ceruledge. i imagine they caught charcadet together when they were young. they had sort of a knight thing going on together in canon so this is also referencing that

-> houndoom (dark/fire) i've always associated csapnap with dogs he's just very dog coded to me. and this one is a demon fire hell dog which also matches well with my hcs of canon csapnap. additionally i like to think that this pokemon grew up alongside him from an egg hatched by bad (from his own houndoom and absol). i like to think it acts a little babyish just because i think it's cute and funny (objectively the best reasons to decide anything) and was probably babied a little by bad and his pokemon growing up

speaking of being babied by pokemon i think it would be funny if bad/ant/sam's pokemon treated sapnap like he's a pokemon cub. like how cats take care of the kittens of other cats apart of their pack(?) and how in housecats that also extends to humans afaik

-> blaziken (fire/fighting) i don't really have much reasoning from this one aside from the typing and it's cool and iconic. he probably thought it was cool and decided as a teenager he had to have one

-> pangoro (fighting/dark) yea. from what i've seen everyone pretty much agrees this is THE csapnap pokemon and i won't argue. it's a big panda that punches things. probably another case of Wow that's so cool i want it plus the additional omg it's a panda we match

-> falinks (fighting) the other five follow the leader without question and um. yea (this is a metaphor about his relationship to dream). either he caught this one after running away or he caught it as a teenager with dream

-> bisharp (dark/steel) i like to think the pawniard line is pretty much only used by mafia. more specifically the boss and their heirs. so it's like a status symbol of sorts. a really sharp and scary status symbol. so people who are aware of this association avoid catching the pawniard line. it was caught for him by bad when he was pretty young & was probably his first pokemon which is why he keeps it with him. because of its associations though he keeps it out of sight but lets it walk around when they're at home bc he feels bad about always keeping it cooped up in its ball. maybe he keeps it in a luxury ball so it has a nicer time in there

i think a bisharp is only evolved into a kingambit when the heir becomes the boss. so bad, phil, and tubbo all have kingambits. tubbo's kingambit wasn't his originally though he took it from schlatt after killing him since schlatt never gave him a pawniard. he probably took all of schlatt's pokemon but this is the only one he keeps on his team. wilbur also has a bisharp

additional pokemon that i did not mention are sam's luxray and metagross. no reasonings here i just think they suit him. i can't decide on which but fran is one of the dog pokemon and is not trained for battle she's just a pet. also bad is a dark type specialist

going back to bad's absol i have a scene in my head where it approaches sapnap while he's alone and he's like ??? absol usually aren't so friendly Wait what the hell this is my dad's absol why are you here. this probably took place like? not that long after sam was hospitalized (aka while dream was filling in for him). if you aren't aware absol tend to show up before disasters happen so it can warn people

i actually thought of these like 3 months ago because i happened to be on a "building pokemon teams for fictional characters" kick while i was reading your mafia au. i was just picking pokemon for sapnap at first but story stuff naturally came along with it. i remembered earlier that i did this and realized you might appreciate it

I also love the implications of him catching the falinks with Dream (Sapnap being aware of the implications and originally viewing it positively as a sign of his loyalty to Dream, before years later the sight of it leaves a sour taste in his mouth...)

I also fucking love the mobster pokemon culture??? Tubbo having to take the kingambit from Schlatt, maybe it being very unruly and hard to train and unwilling to listen to Tubbo at least initially. Wilbur maybe even neglecting his bisharp during his really bad years in his early 20s :(

AND THE ABSOL!! Bad would 100% have his pokemon keeping tabs on Sapnap. I also like the idea of mobs having their pokemon patrol the streets without oversight, it would make living in the area far more terrifying. Sapnap associating something connected to his dad with bad omens also definitely says something. oof.
