You know what, I'm sick of trying to play marketing games on other social media. I'm just going to rant about what I like about my book, because if anyone will appreciate an autistic special interest dump, I hope it'll be tumblr.

so if you like gay books and epic fantasy, read on!

This is Fractured Magic! The cover is by the incredibly talented @littlestpersimmon.

Fractured Magic is a sprawling epic fantasy with a big cast of characters, intricate politics, and a romantic "they were best friends but one thinks the other is dead and when they're finally reunited they're both angry with each other and act like they went through the world's messiest divorce" pairing. the divorcees in question:

before I go on, just know that there's a KICKSTARTER YOU CAN FOLLOW that will include ebooks, paperbacks, and other really fun goodies!

there are ALSO assassins, ghosts, secret identities, descents into madness, and an ancient dragon god who was trapped in a human body and wants revenge about it. to touch on some of these a little further:

-ghosts: are they ghosts? are they zombies? are they simply metaphorical manifestations of the characters' grief? are they real, honest-to-god, send-things-flying-off-shelves ghosts? the answer is yes! all of the above!

-secret identities: if you like those moments reading or watching something where you're like "holy shit, that character was ACTUALLY XYZ THIS WHOLE TIME?!", then you'll like Fractured Magic.

-descents into madness(TM): I mean this in the most gothic sense possible. our hero's in possession of a dark magic that is slowly corrupting him from the inside out. afraid of its power, he pushes everyone away, but he's never dealt well with loneliness.

-ancient dragon gods: this one is pretty much what it says on the tin.

you'll also like fractured magic if you:

-are a big fan of old school fantasy (zelazny, moorcock, weis and hickman) but wish it was more for the gays

well, that's all I've got! if you've read this far, thank you. seriously. due to the aforementioned autism, I....have a very hard time with promoting myself on social media. I really want people to like this book because I really like this book, but I get too caught up in tone and then everything just kinda flops.

my main story is fractured magic, a gothic fantasy webserial! the official blurb:

I am a trans artist and to be visible today I’d like to give you a little taste at my future webcomic Fractured Rainbows!

At its core, this story is about visibility, being seen, understood, and valued for who you are. Mental health, especially within the LGBTQ+ community, is often overlooked or stigmatized, but Fractured Rainbows aims to shine a light on those experiences with empathy and hope.

Through heartfelt storytelling, vibrant art, and a touch of fantasy, this webcomic creates a space where queer identities and mental health journeys are not just acknowledged but celebrated. Because everyone deserves to be seen.

Shout out to those about the author or acknowledgement sections at the end of books that just make the whole thing so much more meaningful! Yes, I did just finish The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich, why do you ask? But actually though, agh, getting to see that the characters you just spent time reading about are based on real people, specifically the author and her wife!!! I aaaaaghhhh that’s so cute and it makes me so happy and it makes this book even more meaningful. But it’s not just the happy notes like that, it’s also the notes that are left at the beginnings and endings of Andrew Joseph White books talking about how the horror in these books are tied to real life, and yes that’s sad, and the horror of these books are real in a way, but there’s also a vague sense of hope underlying it, because these characters got out, so maybe, just maybe, so will we. Also another authors note that stood out to me is the one at the end of OCDaniel. That book was alright, stronger in some areas than others, I definitely enjoyed it though. It also may have been the book that I thought had a really ugly cover as a child which caused me to believe that OCD was some horrible disease and to do a ritual to make sure I wouldn’t get it. Although I’m not entirely sure on that since it’s been a while and I thiiink I remember the cover being a different color, but I’m not sure. Either way though, the author’s note talking about how so much of the story is based on his own experiences with OCD and how he wished that could have had this story as a kid, ugh it makes the story so much more impactful because you see a glimpse at the person behind it and how much it means to them. Then even the little messages in the A Tale of Magic series for example Chris Colfer thanking those who were themselves when it wasn’t allowed and how thanks to them he gets to be himself, that’s not the exact phrasing, but it gets so much across. I Looooooove A Tale of Magic btw I want to do some kind of video analysis on it at some point but I just have waaaaaay to much to say and idk how to get it all out there lol. Anyway Uuuuugh I love reading the little authors notes. Shdjjwjsnshejwjsjejjwiwjsjej.

This is a great item to use as a GM\DM for a new plot arc, or add a bit of chaos into a game where players are feel comfortable.

Have a beloved NPC pick this up and split into a Chaotic Good and Lawful Evil versions of themselves. The Chaotic Good NPC is the one causing the MOST trouble and needs to be tracked down. The Lawful Evil NPC actually wants to work with and help the group...but their methods are questionable.

They should also be planning ways to get rid of their good counterpart at the height of the arc as they don't want to be joined back together. Either way have fun and let me know if you use it an how it goes! :)

Anima Fracture

Wondrous Item, legendary

“A  black large shard of unknown origins. When you stare into the glossy surface, the reflection staring back at you seems to be of a different mind. It’s believed to come from a larger source of the same material.”

When a creature makes physical contact with this magic item, they must make a DC 20 Charisma or Wisdom saving throw (whichever is lower). On a successful save, nothing happens and they are immune to the effects of the item for 24 hours. On a failed saving throw the being is magically split into two identical beings with the same memories and magic items. Neither is a clone or a copy, they are both the same creature with one distinct difference. One of them has an alignment of Lawful or Chaotic Good and the other the opposite alignment.

The two still share the same goals and motivations they had before the split, but those same tenants may now be warped by the shift in alignment. If both halves make physical contact with this magic item at the same time, they must make a DC 20 Charisma or Wisdom saving throw  (whichever is lower) at disadvantage, if both fail they are rejoined into one being, and retain memories from both. If one or both succeed, nothing happens.
