high fantasy, start of a series

a world in ruins after a divine war, which ended with one god taking over and slowly spreading magical Restoration - rejuvenating the land, but transforming any any humans who survive

follows two sisters who are separated when the Restoration sweeps through their home: one who becomes a sinkhole miner, collecting precious gems, who becomes part of a resistance when she discovers she can channel the magic from them

and her younger sister who becomes changed, and is rescued by a woman who trains her into a devoted godkiller, hunting down all other remaining gods

as well as an inventor traveling deep into the earth with his best friend, in hopes of finding the gods’ realm to find a cure for her sickness, and his cousin, searching for a way to restore her family’s ruined reputation

and a god far in the past, at the beginning of the war

it's past 3am idc anymore. he was hinted but not officially named & had less than 10 minutes of screen time but in my opinion matthew goode is the best modern version of dracula i have seen in YEARS.

As this year has come to an end, I just wanna be grateful to Allah as He blessed me with the things I might not even deserve.This year was my year and wasn't mine either in different ways. I learnt a lot,made new friends,worked on myself, and enjoyed a lot with my family. I realised how privileged I'm to be living such a luxurious life and I'm forever grateful for it. I wanna welcome next year with the hope of being a better version of myself

The lord and lady Bertilak of Bliss & Blunder - Vern and Lou - are definitely human, but in my eyes something about their arrangement with (Ga)Wayne still gives them a fae-like quality. Preventing a guy from hurting himself of purpose by ensuring that he has to inflict on another person what he inflicts on himself is not an approach that would cross most people's minds. It's fairy logic, a weird gift culture. That, and Vern's mysterious absences.

In general, I like how... hazy and strange Wayne's storyline is thanks to this and him living in the past arguably to an even greater extent than most other characters. And the ghost. The latter actually made me briefly suspect that he was the one who killed Carly and then suppressed the memory - there is an episode in Le Morte d'Arthur where Gawain accidentally beheads a lady. But I guess he was seeing her just because Gawain is the Maidens' Knight, and if there was anyone that she would ask to avenge her death, it was him.
