More tutorials from researching an upcoming pattern re-release - and this one just blew my mind when I first learned it!

I was introduced to the concept of the foundation crochet (rather than a chain to start your crochet), with the Garden Trellis Fingerless Mittens; and I've used it extensively since then - it's so much easier then instructions like 'chain 200' to start a crochet project! Now I use foundation crochet extensively in my own crochet designs, and it's thanks to the wonderful folks on Youtube that I learned how to do it!

Something that amuses me between knitters and crocheters is this... almost humble nature each craft has about the other. I couldn't imagine how one would knit, and I know some of the basics - and yet, I have met so many knitters who say crochet is impossible, and yet I find it to be so simple. There's just something charming about when one recognizes just how much skill, effort, patience, and care go into a craft, and to be humbled by just how incredible human ingenuity and creativity are

I don't remember where this is from, but I've always remembered the folk tale about how if you don't leave a little hole somewhere in your crochet, a piece of your soul gets trapped there.

Do you think Gears would purposefully stop leaving holes, because he's already lost his soul (at least, that's what it looks like to the outside world), so what's the point if it gets trapped? Or is it more of a hope thing? Does he think that if he makes enough things, maybe he'll physically trap enough of his soul that he could express himself again? He knows he won't be able to, but humans are strange like that. Holding onto hope even in the most unlikely of scenarios.

OH OH. SCP-2295 the Patchwork bear with themes of care/affection and friendship. Including pink somewhere perhaps. I got an oc with friendly 2295 involvement but I know you don’t do oc stimboards, figured this would be more fun for you!

I made an amigurumi elephant! It was super fiddly and I definitely didn’t sew him together properly but overall I’m pleased with how he looks

some random crochet projects.. i've been making random stuff while i wait for my blanket yarn to come in. the owner of the yarn shop i ordered it from emailed me and said she's waiting for a new shipment of yarn to come in, so they can make sure each colour i ordered is from the same dye lot. i should have them by next tuesday!

so this week i made a fancy granny square and a rectangle lol. the granny square i'm using on my living room table to put a plant on top of, and the rectangle i was going to use in the kitchen to put hot bowls/pans/whatever on it. both are made from 100% cotton.

okay this yarn better go well with this pattern, because I am doing a foundation hdc for it and there is no coming back from the amount of self-control and concentration it takes to do a good foundation stitch let alone 100+ of them

I love the logic that's come from me starting to craft because like... I needed a bookmark and it would take three seconds to find a receipt or tear a piece of paper, but actually, it makes more sense for me to draft up a crude pattern and spend thirty minutes crocheting one. It makes sense, it's obviously a rational choice
