theres a phenomenon that happens on here i have been calling "normalize loving parents posting" which is when you spend a lot of time on tumblr and are exposed to a lot of one specific counter-cultural narrative day in and day out until you start to forget what the dominant ideas are for most of the human population and thus feel the need to "defend" things that are widely accepted and popular. it's called this because of the time a bunch of text posts about shitty dads were circulating and then people with good relationships with their dad didn't feel included enough and started making "uhmmm can we normalize loving parents? not everyone has a deadbeat dad, MY dad is great" type posts, seemingly forgetting that good relationship with dad is a cultural norm that is expected and encouraged. i think its good practice, especially when im annoyed, to stop before i hit the post button and ask myself if this is a real issue or if im normalize loving parents posting. because often im about to try to normalize loving parents

this "is severance just the office for bisexuals" post really annoys me because those are not even in the same category of anything. The Office is a comedy mockumentary told in 21 minute episodes while Severance is a sci-fi drama told in 50 minutes episodes. You think that just because there's an office building in there that makes it in any way comparable?? To group them together is so insulting to me.

FAT LIBERATIONIST FILMS

I noticed that the handful of lists on letterboxd for fat positive films only had Hairspray, Isn’t It Romantic, and I Feel Pretty (🤢) with the caption “I wish this list was longer!”

So I have taken it upon myself to compile a real list of real fat liberationist films: films that either confront the issue of fatphobia or portray fat bodies in a liberating way. I will not be including films where fat characters exist neutrally, only films with a message about fatness that does not promote weight loss.

I haven’t seen a majority of these films yet, so if you see one that you believe is not worthy of being on this list, please let me know! additionally, if you have ideas on more films that should be added, please share!

TVTropes gets made fun of a lot but it is a little astonishing how consistent that wiki's voice is. It's a great wiki to go to if you want to simulate having one specific autistic fifteen-year-old computer nerd infodump to you about any piece of media that exists. To be clear I am saying this as an overwhelmingly positive thing

Hey remember that one post of someone's dad on a bike with David Bowie? And how everyone said "haha, your dad fucked David Bowie"? And how we all understood that queer people lightheartedly suggesting that someone might be queer, based on a one-off interaction, was an acceptable thing to happen? And that people taking serious offense to that joke are probably homophobic?

Anyway yeah if a trans woman going "saw a guy with long hair pick up women's deodorant at the store, egg much?" makes you uncomfortable and feels threateneing, but "saw a dude sharing a seat with david bowie, gay sex much?" is perfectly acceptable, I really want you to consider that you probably have some biases you need to work out.
