In Maryland (and surrounding areas): Fospice home needed for sweet 9 year old girl who is just looking for pets and a warm bed.
Age: 9 yrs old
Sex: Female
Size: Medium - 45 lbs
Health: Ladybug is one of our fospice dogs. She is looking for a home to spend the remainder of her time in.
Fospice: large tumor on her back leg, but does not seem to get her down.
Kid and non- reactive dog friendly
Ladybug is the sweetest girl that just wants to be pet ALL day long. She loves her toys and lounging in her bed. She was very nervous when we first met, but once she warms up, she's a doll. She can get a little jealous, if she's not getting all of your attention, but can co-exist with other dogs. Ladybug knows basic commands and loves to snuggle for hours! She also loves to explore and to be outside!
Please consider giving this pup a loving, Fospice home!

I can't believe I've caring for this elderly creature for 4 months today. I took him home for the *weekend* because he stopped eating and was vomiting, and we thought he should get out of the shelter for his last days.
Oh it turns out he loves eating pancakes and not being in a kennel so he got his will to live back instantly. How have I had someone elderly dog that they surgically removed the ear of for *four months*
Hello? I'm sorry your elderly farm dog was not eaten by coyotes, his blind ass is consistently getting in my trash and he can't be verbally interrupted because he's also mostly deaf.
Please help I didn't mean to sign up for an eternal dog. Again.
Anyway I love Sue.
#sue#foster dog#hospice#fospice#he has the scariest blind eyes#i want to know where his ear went#hes house trained and does well with cats and strangers#he does get into the trash like no dog ive ever met before though#any crinkly bag shaped thibg equals head in bag#gotta get the stuff#had to be some sort of farm dog#hes probably like. 30#pain seems to be pretty reasonably managed#has a zest for life still#near as o can tell anyway its alk guess work#ive only ever known him as the 2nd oldest dog in existence sonits hard to be sure#and heelers can be very lazy past a cetain age

I am applying for a fospice dog today! Wish me luck!
I have extensive experience with medical cases, prior fospice experience, a spare bedroom he can use to decompress, 6ft privacy fencing, a good vet reference. I'm confident I'm a good fit. He has until end of business Monday.
But rescues deny people for all sorts of reasons. For example I do NOT allow unannounced home visits. We'll see what happens.

Zsa-Zsa is 17 years 4 months-old and sponsored by Tara Sims. Zsa-Zsa is a petite kitty who will follow you around looking for attention. She has a soft, little meow that asks you to please pet her. Despite a slight heart murmur, Zsa-Zsa is in really good health for her age. Zsa-Zsa gets along with the other kitties here, but don’t know how she’d be with dogs. And probably best for her to be in a home without small children. We’d like to find a fospice home for Zsa-Zsa to live in for the remainder of her life. If that’s your home, please let us know. Thanks! SNAP Cats uses Smart Cat, all natural cat litter.

Hi, so, i stalked you a bit (sorry, it's a hobby of mine) and i think i've seen you call the same dog both a project and your dog and i'm kinda confused about the whole thing. Also, do you still identify as bi (if you don't mind me asking) because i've seen you say you're bi years ago but you only seem to thirst for Toby Stephens lol. Also, i hope you're well. Have a nice day!
Hi! Haha no worries!
So I have three dogs with me right now.
1) Gene the husky, who is my actual 100% dog. He's a rescue from NYCACC(as all three of these are, actually) about 4 years ago now. He's an asshole and a grumpy man but I love him a lot.
2) Chaser the German shepherd, who is probably the one you're referring to. He is both "my" dog and a project - he's been in foster with me for a year due to severe aggression, and the rescue and I have basically agreed that I will keep him until and unless his issues are able to be resolved AND the absolute perfect home comes along. (And the only reason I don't just say I'm keeping him is that I don't 100% have the resources to commit to that, so the rescue agreed to keep him "on their tab" so to speak.)
3) Balto the malamute. He is another long term foster (18 months for him!) again due to severe aggression. He's the one, if you caught my rant a few days ago, who we tried adopting out and they totally didnt listen to anything we said and he bit them. At this point, he is in a sort of behavioral fospice. As terrible as it sounds, his behavioral issues are so bad that unless I keep him, he will have to euthanized. So, again I've agreed with the rescue that I will keep him and keep working with him until my circumstances make it impossible(say, if I have to move) at which point he will likely have to be put down.
And to your second question! I identify as bi but with a heavy leaning towards...hm. men(both femme and masc) and masculine of center people who do not identify as women. I am 90% attracted only to those people, with a very particular type of "woman" or feminine energy I'm attracted to.
That said yeah I'm in very deep down the Toby Stephen's rabbit hole bc....I Have A Type. Lmao.
💖💖💖

See Spot Rescued was founded on the premise that we wouldn’t be able to rescue every dog, but for those that we could rescue, we would treat them as if they were our own. In sickness and in health, no matter their age, breed, no matter what they need - extensive vetting, surgeries - they can rest assured that once they are part of the SSR family, we will care for them and fulfill our mission of finding them a lifetime companion who will provide them eternal unconditional love. But sometimes life throws us a curve ball…
It is with a heavy heart that we update our SSR family & friends on one very special dog, Johnny Cash. Johnny, aka Cash, has been diagnosed with renal dysplasia. He was born with kidneys that do not work to the best of their ability. Sadly, our vet has informed us that his kidneys will continue to lose function and he may only have about a year to live.
Cash doesn’t know that he’s sick and he's as happy and goofy as he’s always been. He isn’t in any pain and just needs to pee more than the average dog. He is on special low protein food and medication.
We are seeking a hospice foster who will give Cash the greatest gift possible - love and a home for the remainder of his life. We're looking for someone who is home due to the frequency of his need to urinate and ideally has a yard. Cash is great with cats, dogs and kids. SSR will continue to pay for all of Cash’s vetting, food and medication.
Please help us spread the word by sharing Cash’s story on social media, we know there’s someone out there for him! Please email us at [email protected] for additional information.

World’s Worst Best Parent
12.18.20
Just over two weeks ago, I tweeted into space that I had applied for a foster dog because I felt like I wasn’t doing anything with my life. It’s true - all I did was wake up, watch tv, eat, work, tv, bed, repeat. I already have a dog of my own but she is older, calm, and mostly just likes to stare at things and sleep.
As fate would have it, I got a call from one of the organizers in the breed rescue, and she was very interested in placing this dog with me. This dog was also supposed to be older, heartworm positive, and calm. It seemed like it would be a good fit with my dog because my dog is scared of dogs, and any dog that is high energy is especially terrifying to her even if they are being nice. Fast-forward a few more days and I’m driving halfway in between where I am and where the first foster home was to B.F.E. Tennessee to pick up this foster dog.
During the 1.5 hour drive, my heart rate was probably 200, I cried a few times, and I was terribly, terribly anxious. I had a similar anxiety when I picked up my dog 9 years ago, and she is easily the best part of my life, so I knew I had to push through this. I just didn’t know if I had done the right thing - for my dog, for the foster dog, or for myself. This was going to be a big change.
While I knew what my dog’s reaction to the new dog would be, I truly wasn’t anticipating my reaction. I was so stressed. I felt horribly guilty for putting my dog in a situation where she was scared in her own home. How could I do this to her and ruin the one place where she truly felt safe? The minute I saw her sad and upset, I wanted to get rid of the foster dog immediately. She was never mean to my dog or showed any type of dominance, but the fact that the new dog was the source of my dog’s “pain” made me want her to leave.
I’m a 30-year-old “woman” (whatever, that sounds weird) with responsibilities, a mortgage, and a pre-COVID career. What kind of 12-year-old bullshit would it be for me to cry and say I didn’t want the new dog anymore? I knew somewhere in my head she wasn’t actually going to go anywhere because I made this commitment and I was going to stick to it - but if the rescue had been like, “yo, can we have her back?” I easily would have packed her shit and let her go.
After a few breakdowns through the weekend and trying to figure out a new schedule and method that would work for both dogs, I posted on Facebook/Instagram that I had taken in a “fospice” dog with heartworms. The comments came flooding in... “You’re her guardian angel!” “This is an awesome thing you’re doing!” “She is lucky to have you!” “You are a true angel.” “I couldn’t think of a better mom.” “Such an admirable thing to do.”
This all just made me feel like a giant piece of crap. To have people think I am some kind of angel or saint for taking in this dog made me cringe because I spent the majority of the weekend wanting her to leave so that me and my ‘real’ baby could live in peace.
She will reach her week mark with us tomorrow. She is a sweet, silly dog that likes to zoom around and mess up my rugs, pinch you when you stop paying attention to her, do army crawls, and snuggle for hours. She is a lot of personality with a lot of health issues. And though she is sweet and she is the breed that I love so much, it has become very clear that I love my dog deeply and cherish her in a way that I haven’t even felt about another person. Parents excluded, but apples and oranges I think. I just do not feel love toward this foster dog in the way I thought I might, and it has made me appreciate and love my dog even more.
Heartworm treatment can take upwards of three months. Ideally she will not be rehomed, but I am not sure I will be able to overcome putting my dog through fear and sadness should this last till a month. This would be a terrible disruption in the foster dog’s recovery, so I hope it does not come to that, but I have to put my dog ahead of her. Does this make me a bad parent? A good parent? A terrible person? A selfish monster?
doG help us.

I went to Harbor to meet the dogs so I had to give up my East Valley shift for a few weeks. COVID RULES. I feel a little guilty that I didn’t meet this 15 yr old lady. She’s looking for a foster care situation as she has rescue interest if only a serious longtime foster steps up. Fospice. Maxine #A1958058 East Valley Shelter Sweet female. Sweet gal. Needs a place to rest her head. No stairs. Rescue interest if foster is lined up. “She is alleged to be OK with other dogs, lived with another dog who bullied her, is afraid of some large dogs.” Fospice, a combination of foster and hospice. Fospice means taking a dog into your home and giving it palliative care, love, and a wonderful life until it is their time. Hey, San Francisco Bay Area, here’s one for you! Violet is a senior at Antioch Animal Services. She has a lot going for her: Housetrained, gentle, easy-going, good with other dogs, loving but not needy. But she has some health challenges and you know... not everyone wants to take on a senior dog.
We have a feeling you won’t feel that way, so please help spread the word. She needs a home. A shelter is no place for such a beautiful sweet old lady. She needs to live out her life in a loving home... right?
Violet is available for adoption or rescue. Please ask to meet her by her ID# A131287 at Antioch Animal Services, 300 L St in Antioch, California and #AdoptPureLove!

How is Yogi doing? How do pets end up in fospice? (I can't think of a better way to word this.) Have you had other fospice pets?
Yogi is healing well. I'm in the hospital for a week so he's boarding with his vet and then he gets to come home the same day I come home! We're so excited to have him 💗
Pets end up in fospice the same way they end up in rescue. Sometimes people abandon old animals at shelters, Yogi was picked up as a stray but was probably dumped. When they're identified as extremely old or terminally ill they will try to pull them from the shelter and get them into a home. Senior pets are harder to adopt out, and the shelter is less likely to keep them long. Yogi was in the system less than a month and was pulled on the same day he was going to be put down. The only fosters I usually take are terminal or disabled animals.
I've had a few hospice pets, most recently Thea. She was abandoned at 19 years old with chronic kidney disease. We took her in, she lived nearly a year. Mr. Pi my 20 year old dog was also on hospice, but I had him since the day he was born.
I would really encourage people who are interested in fostering or adopting to look at the older pets! Older pets are generally calmer and lower energy, they make great companions.

Meet: Henry, Neutered Male, 18 Years 4 Months, Senior
Henry is sponsored by: Charlotte Brunetta
SNAP Cats rescued Henry from Berkeley, CA. Henry is a gentle senior, who’s passion is sleeping and eating wet food! He’s great with other cats, don’t know about dogs. He’ll probably be a bit shy at first, but once he knows you’re the keeper of wet food, he’ll follow you wherever you go.
We’re looking for either an adopter or a fospice home for Henry. If you’re either one of these, please let us know. Henry deserves to live out his years in a warm, loving home. Thanks.

😢 9 yo GERTIE can NOT DIE in the SHELTER... ALONE. We must find her a LOVING FOSPICE (foster/hospice) or ADOPTER! For Our Friends RESCUE WILL COVER VET CARE if a home is found on Long Island or Eastern Queens, NY. ONLY PET. 😢 💔 9 yo GERTIE has been in a LONG ISLAND, NY shelter since SEPTEMBER! I just learned from staff that she URGENTLY NEEDS OUT! She is reportedly VERY SWEET but does need to be your ONLY PET. KIDS - TEENS and up. No one knows how Gertie lived prior to being found as a STRAY last year. 💔 Sadly, no one came to reclaim her!😭 Regardless of her past, she DESERVES LOVE and DIGNITY in this the final chapter of her life. Gertie has heartworms and as best I understand she was treated for it. However, she is in HEART FAILURE. She also has ARTHRITIS. The SHELTER VET has told staff that GERTIE doesnt have very long (did not provide how long).😢 Let's find her a QUIET, LOVING HOME so that she has a family -- for how ever much time she does have. Gertrude has a wonderful rescue (FOR OUR FRIENDS) is ready to pull her and will take care of all her medical needs provided she is fostered locally. If anyone deserves a loving home to live out her days - it’s this girl. GERTIE could also be ADOPTED in the Northeast but the adopter would have to be responsible for all medical care and supplies. If you are interested in giving GERTIE a home, please PM me, Trish Lane, contact For Our Friends - Dog Rescue Group (to foster), or contact BABYLON ANIMAL SHELTER. To FOSTER GERTIE: Phone: 917-864-2443 Email: [email protected] Long Island, NY or Eastern Queens To ADOPT GERTIE: Contact Babylon Animal Shelter 80 New Highway Amityville, NY Email: [email protected] Phone: (631) 643-9270 MORE PHOTOS: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/19-421-gertrude-45924045/ny/amityville/town-of-babylon-animal-shelter-ny275/ Original facebook post: https://m.facebook.com/groups/183718425324271?view=permalink&id=1128012684228169 🟣 SHARING IS CARING! 🟣 (at Babylon Animal Shelter) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_JPjqwHgYX/?igshid=7oknlr11d8nm

Posted @withrepost • @shelterchic Friends- We REALLY need your help networking our two social, affectionate, sweet lap cats who both have kidney disease 🙏🏼 Both cats absolutely love attention and would be great in households with other cats, dogs, or kids. Masala is on liquid medication for high blood pressure (which he takes like a champ!) He is younger than Moo Moo (he’s middle-aged adult), while Moo Moo is a Senior sweetheart who does not take medication. Both cats are on a special diet to help with their kidney issues. We are open to finding fosters/adopters who can give fluids, but it is NOT necessary since fluids can be stressful and we would rather not stress out either cat. • Both cats are in amazing foster homes, but we really want to find their forevers 😻Masala is living with another cat who is not on special kidney food, making it impossible to feed them without Masala eating other food. They now have to be separated, which neither cat is enjoying. He must move by Christmas. 😻 Moo Moo doesn’t need to move as quickly, although since she is older we would really like to see her settled in her forever foster / fospice home asap. SHELTER CHIC WILL COVER COSTS OF SPECIAL FOOD, MEDICATION, and VET VISITS for both cats. We just want to see both kitties enjoying their #happilyeverafters 💖💖 • CAT LOVERS PLEASE SHARE 🙏🏼 #shelterchic #adoptdontshop #fosteringsaveslives #catfoster #catfostering #catlover #rescuecat #seniorcat #cat #meow #kidneydisease #specialneedscat #mainecoon #mainecooncats #newyork #monday #mcm #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #animalrescue #fospice #hospice #hospicecat https://www.instagram.com/p/B5lIITVA4kw/?igshid=1mqym2a4v3jo3

#Repost @yonkersanimalshelter (@get_repost) ・・・ Courtesy post. Smithtown NY FOSPICE NEEDED IMMEDIATELY FOR 13 YEAR OLD FLETCHER!! CURRENTLY IN THE SHELTER! Today we met Fletcher at Smithtown Animal Shelter and we left totally heartbroken! See...Fletcher is 13 years old and just had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Fletcher lived with two dogs, he is very low key, LOVES his ball and wants to play with it all day long. He does not have any food or toy guarding. He will stare at his ball and wait for you to throw it. He was lining them up at the shelter along the play yard fence. He has been fully vetted and his vetting will continue to be covered for a foster hospice (fospice). We are committed to helping Fletcher find happiness again in a home. He takes treats gently and is an old soul. We don’t know how long Fletcher has left but this boy is just way to SPECIAL to spend another day in the shelter.
