i’ve been doing these little guys to take my mind off this morning! nd it was literally a coin flip between her nd vi (but i will be doing an arcane drabble for someone next week yk)

“C’mon, I’ve got just the place!” Kate exclaimed, a gentle hand clasped around her lover’s. Her painted nails were fairly chipped, the dark purple paint peeling off at the tips. Ophelia’s nails were nearly the opposite, slightly sharp and coated in sleek black paint.

Even their fashion went together: Kate’s black jacket and loose cut pants over a purple sweater, and Ophelia’s layered black dress and silver jewelry. The brisk New York air cutting through them, even if it was just early autumn. They walked through a small shopping district, Kate’s smile wide and bright.

Barely minutes later, they stop in front of a quaint corner cafe, Ophelia’s eyes lighting up. The architecture was simple yet dark, and warm lighting glowed from the slightly tinted window.

“Is this new?” Ophelia inquires, barely able to keep her eyes off her girlfriend and the thick ponytail that nearly whipped her face from the wind.

“Just opened!” Kate chuckles, but, Ophelia’s ogling is short lived, as her lover tugs on her hand once more. “And now for the real surprise-“

A pet shop. A smaller store with dog beds and toys in the window. Ophelia nods in, a gentle, but quiet, suggestion to go in. And Kate just beams.

The place is bright! Almost overstimulating if it weren’t for the strong hand around Ophelia’s. There was the faintest smell of catnip, and the store was perfectly stocked with simple supplies. The cashier waves at their entry, and Kate grins like an excited puppy.

“Lucky would love it here,” Ophelia muses.

“Right?! One more thing, and then we can stop by the cafe-“

In the back of the store were a few stacked cubbies. Glass with small holes lined the walls, and a few simple metal locks marked doors. And inside? Cats, a young orange tabby sleeping in one, and a black cat in the other. That’s when Ophelia lights up, almost like when she sees Kate. She held a curled finger in front of a hole, letting the dark cat daintily sniff it.

Kate couldn’t be happier, her girlfriend’s joy was contagious. She leaned an arm on the top of the cubbies, tilting her head and looking just over Ophelia.

“This place isn’t new, but the babies are- They’re up for adoption, that’s why I brought you.”

Ophelia tensed, her lips parting ever so slightly in surprise. “You’d get one? But Lucky?-“

She’s cut off, “C’mon, he’s a sweetheart!” Kate giggles, before softening her tone. She didn’t want to discourage her girl, after all, getting a cat had been on their radar for a bit. “Sorry, sorry, I just thought that he wouldn’t mind, so long as I still give him attention.”

The cat has since rubbed up against the glass, sticking a paw through one of the holes. Ophelia smiles at it, before leaning into Kate.

“You’re a sweetheart,”

Kate lit up, before turning to the cashier and waving once. “Hey! How much for the adoption?”

been playing bits and pieces of horizon forbidden west! game's pretty as hell

#horizon forbidden west #photo mode #my edits #yannow. it got me thinking too. the npc fidelity in this game is off the fucking shits. never seen anything like it #even secondary dialogues are leaving all the competition in the dust. it's an insane level of work #major burnout red flags for sure. but also maybe talking about engines as specialized tools instead of ubiquitous ones isn;t so bad?#i mean there's definitely trends. ramming down RPGs down frostbite's throat has never worked well #while decima is tearing up the open worlds and tech fidelity quotas like nbd even on prev gen #is it really about implementation at this point #maybe some engines just. work best for certain types of hard goals. and choosing that right is what matters #i pkayed this after ragnarok and that game looks embarassing next to hfw. and I'm not even saying it flippantly. I stand by what i've said #shorter games less scope lower fidelity etc. for healthier dev teams. but this can be a scalability tell tale? maybe using something #like decima can mean an easier time for a standard EA dev cycle *without* hitting these insane fidelity goals. just thinking out loud #cause forever salty about frostbite. probably wrong but hey! I am on a blogging website famous for its phobia of deeper contexts #or maybe playing as aloy gave me that stupid self confidence juice #the way she bulldozes into delicate foreign policies with nothing but her ego and hutzpah really proves that whiteness is alive and well #in whatever variant of post-post-apocalypse this story is set into. they better interrogate her issues cause otherwise this plot will like #fizzle out under the weight of her self-righteousness lmao

The evil slow creep of it being like "haha these will just be quick little side quests, not much effort at all!" and then noticing each one is getting progressively longer than the last, thus no longer being minimal effort.. auGh....

#The jump of 76 for the first one to 275 for the most recent ghghjb #what can I say.. I am.. The Elaborator.. The Detail Giver..#number six will HAVE to be shorter....!!!!!! !!!!#I fear it's going to look this way but opposite with some of the main character quests. The first character I ever worked on. like their #first quest I added wayy to much information and detail and side options and etc.#Once I got done with all their stuff I was like.... if they're all like this I will NEVER finish.. So then I tried to be very short about #it all. EVERY single interaction cannot have 10 branching dialogue and 5 different endings and blah blah blah.. as much as I wish it could.#Hiring a butler to stand over me all day shouting ''NARROW the scope!!!! REDUCE the options!!! CUT the dialogue!!!'' whilst I sob #and hit backspace on everything once every five minutes #But that means probably the first character I worked on will be very obvious because their quests might have a different #feel than the others and be longer.. I just CAN'T make ALL of them that long. but maybe I could choose one..#Like out of the four characters that will have full quests for them upon release.. maybe I can add another one thats long so at least #TWO of them have weirdly long quests and the one first character doesnt seem so singled out lol #I hear this happens in real life professional games as well (like people complaining that X character doesnt have as much #content in an RPG as some other one does. etc.) so.. perhaps my fears about everyting not being exactlyliterally equal #are not even that worrisome or something that's a major factor. Still lol #It's not really that concerning to me anyways from a 'how will people react to it' perspective (very niche game. hardly anyone #will play it i'd assume. its not like thousands of people shall desscend upon me to criticize even if something was weird like that.#it'd be like. out of the 25 people who ever play it. maybe one of them is like 'yeah it was kinda weird that thosequests were so much #longer than the others. but idk' and that's the extent lol). My concern is more like.. Writing time..#the more I add. the longer it takes for me to finish. So if I keep ednlessly making things forever longer and longer. then it becomes The #Forever Project. which it kind of already is. considering I started it in 2018 and then forgot about it for the most part of 5 years and am #only resuming it now LOL.. I am pretty sure I've made this exact post before but I think it's sooooo funny how much people like to complain about the "don't over-deliver, you're creating patterns" gdc talk while also complaining that the reason destiny 2 is """bad""" now is because they are delivering a consistent level of content that steadily improves instead of every season getting exponentially bigger and better than the last like do you hear yourself bestie

#gameplay wise this is the best season we've ever had by the way #narratively it is also pretty darn good though that's more subjective #it takes 3 months to develop content for a season. you cannot do 4 months of work in 3 months without crunching.#and if you do 4 months of work in 3 months once. you are setting yourself up to have to do that forever to meet player expectations #please develop your frontal cortex.#i do have complaints about the narrative this year (defiance & lf) but guess what! those are indicative of over-committing #lf had a shorter development time than wq. defiance tried to make a big moment even though expansion seasons are generally smaller.#and coming off a very well-polished narrative w/ seraph #like im not trying to make infinite excuses but like! these things don't happen because everybody on the team suddenly got bad at their job #they happen because of poor planning and rushed deadlines!!! this is why you cannot over deliver in a live service environment!!!!#in conclusion i hate seasonal models and im so excited for the episode format god nuke the games industry please

Wow, this prologue for Strip/Mafia is a lot longer than I thought it would be....

I mean I knew it was gonna be long but we're like halfway through it at at 6300+ words,,,

#i still don't know if that counts as long or short tbh #i mean i usually write oneshots so my meter is already skewed #but then the stories that are my fave to read are usually 10k+ words per chapter #but i mean if i stick with what i'm doing currently then this could easily also be 10k+...#i have no idea if every chapter will by like this i think is the issue #cause i've had this chapter in my head for FOREVER so it's the easiest to write out #but i've got no clue on how the other chapters will be.. if they'll be as long or if they'll be much shorter #i hope they're roughly the same size #jay talk #jay yaps about nothing to noone
