Thistle's backstory is really funny actually. Like the king says "I want an experienced Elven lord-in-waiting because Elves are Cool and I want to be Cool". And everybody else is like hell the fuck no you're absolutely not getting that you will 1000000000% die. Here's an autistic 4 year old we found instead. No we will not elaborate on how or where we got them but they can play the flute and do a silly little dance. And after about 2 minutes of being angry the king immediately switches to "fuck yes free son this is awesome" and still nobody acknowledges literally ever that this is just some random baby with a flute who now lives in their house forever

tbh though if you look at the older episodes, Betty was always like absolutely 100% fully and irrevocably unhinged, and her going insane was barely a departure from the status quo at all

like this woman is and always was nuts, and I think it's for everyone's benefit that they're both equally obsessed with each other, because that means nobody else ever has to get involved with their fucked up dynamic

I think it's less that she put her life on hold for Simon's benefit, but that she's a scary lady who knows exactly what she wants, and what she wants is a relationship with a nice autistic guy who's really into femdom

Odd question idk if you’ve answered something like this similar before or not but what’s BEN’s relationship like with Kelbris or Abel? Is it like a family thing (since you know Abel is one of the main creators of BEN and Kelbris because idk people just seem to make him BEN’s father figure) and what’s BEN’s viewpoint on the values of family in general? also hope you’re having a good day/night where ever you are 🩷🙏

BEN doesn't care for any of its creators, Abel included. There was never a connection. Nothing familial or amicable; it was purely from a 'scientific' standpoint. BEN acts on its programming while Abel and the others take notes. The information is used to improve ascension/digitization technology. Essentially, BEN is a tool!

On the researchers' side, their lack of care is really apparent (creating a fake cult and manipulating vulnerable populations aside). The way Abel talks about the cartridge's inhabitants is extremely dehumanizing, reducing them to only AI, despite being people. Obviously, he wouldn't ramble out the truth about these characters on day one. However, the fact Abel willingly works for a company like the Eternity Project says a lot.

Kelbris and BEN's "relationship" is complicated. BEN doesn't care for The Father's well-being. However, BEN cares more about what Kelbris can do. They fear The Father. As Kelbris is the overseer of the world, he can delete people and things.

Plus, Kelbris doesn't feel emotions. This makes any potential for a bond to be impossible. The Father's actions depend on the stimuli he's given/observing. For example, The Father was already off his rocker, but when Jad attacked him and the other instances of characters trying to do the same, Kelbris reflected that and became a full-blown problem. Treat Him like a villain, then he'll act like one.

BEN's relationship with him is tricky because some of the Moon Children are loyal to The Father. Despite him corrupting and destroying the world (which is also partly because of the Moon Children). They insist they know what he wants, meanwhile Kelbris doesn't have a clue in the world what he wants. He doesn't think for himself! The are also other members of the network who aren't loyal/aren't fond of The Father. Due to internal conflict, BEN does not like to deal with Kelbris. Avoiding The Father at best and working around him at worst.

The only real family BEN has experience with is the spirits in the network. Who also don't have a very good grasp on family. BEN can give a detailed explanation as to what family is and what it should be, but it can’t find that for itself. They have gone so long without a functional family, they see no need for any family.

its still ambiguous when in the tl the latter happens right? damn, parallelism and all that.

i can imagine the first person in ooo to connect these things starting to immediately fret, then the emotional chain reaction kicks off. yeah eventually some other hero rises but so much in the series happens with both of their involvement + the immediate happy ending ooo gets with pb’s orders being disobeyed, and theyre still work partners even to the end assuredly. like, who else would break the news that finn wouldnt be seen anymore? if “end of an era” ever meant anything to an in-universe like at’s its these things put together

I've reached season 5 on my CSI rewatch and I'm a few episodes past "Swap Meet", where a woman is murdered after attending a swing party with other couples from the neighbourhood. Near the end of the episode there's a moment that made me jump from my seat:

(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two cups. He hands her a cup of tea.)

[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - BRASS' OFFICE]

Erin Brady: Everybody fantasizes about other people. (She glances at Grissom.)

Even you, Mr. Grissom. A neighbor, a friend ... girl at the office.

[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - HALLWAY]

(The door opens. Paul Brady walks out of the hallway. Erin Brady walks out into the hallway. Sara is sitting in the hallway chair watching them. She watches as they meet and kiss.)

(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two culps. He hands her a cup of tea.)

Right after Erin ends her sentence with 'girl at the office', the first time Sara and Grissom meet again, he brings her tea. This might be an innocent interaction but to me it seemed like a nod to this relationship they have where both are into each other, know about the other's feelings, but can't/won't do anything about it (although Sara has kind of given Grissom an ultimatum). I don't know if it was intentional - I'm guessing it is, because I picked it up immediately. I might or might not have squealed in delight.
