Okay I think I'm ready to write the second part of this post about Milsiril

To make it easier for me I'll just divide this into her relationship with Kabru, Mithrun and Helki (her ex-canary prisoner teammate)

First about Kabru

This is an extra from the daydream hour 5. The caption says "Something like this might as well have happened" so its probably not canon but could be. I honestly think his reaction to Milsiril visiting and being overbearing says a lot about the type of relantionship they have. This is the fakest bitch in the whole of dungeon meshi, he never says what he trully thinks unless there's an advantage to doing so, he's a people pleaser that does and says anything to make people like/trust him. And yet he immediatly converts into "Mooooooom you're embarassing meeeeee" when he sees it's Milsiril.

This translation used "Mom" but as I understand the original he uses the more formal version so I think it would be closer to "Mother" but still he acknowleges her as his Mother, and he acts like her kid in every interaction we see between them.

I really don't understand where the idea that he learned to be fake from being "forced" to be her adoptive son comes from.

The other interaction we see between them is the Kabru extra from the Adventurer's Bible

Kabru comes to her with a deep fear he clearly has had even before she adopted him, he trusted her with this fear and she did not disappoint him, she comforted him and then gave him the information he needed to believe what she was saying

I'd also like to point out in no moment she discouraged him from calling his his bio-mom "Mom". He also says she taught her children everything they asked

I doubt this would only be true for him, it also mirrors something she said in the manga

"You can go ahead and learn all you want about something else." I believe it when Kabru says she made every effort to answer her children's questions. I think this is also the way she expresses the love she has for them. Plus I love the thought bubble with Kabru mirroring what he learned from her. I also love this daydream hour, she sacrifices her own comfort to do something for Kabru.

Milsiril isn't a perfect mother tho, besides the fact she is overprotective she comes from a very different culture from her children. I like to call her Kabru's white mom cause I think that would be the real world equivalent. This extra is the one I think the most about showing this context perfectly

Kabru wants to share Utaya sweets but looks at his mom looking gloomy/rejected so he talks about fruitcake instead. This very rude for Milsiril to do since she's kinda trying to overwrite his actual cultural background, but I think its done more as a "I want you to like the things I like" rather than something nefarious, and once again Kabru doesn't hide at all his distaste for it, he does the bare minimum to please his mom since she's being dramatic but he doesn't lie to her, he shows how displeased he is about fruitcake, something he refuses to do when eating the harpy omelette that is way worse, because he must make a good impression for Laios. Kabru is honest with his overbearing white mom once again.

Now a little about Rin, from Kabru's context, this is her extra in the Adventurer's Bible

(look at Helki he's such a gremlin i love him) anyway, Rin has a trauma about elves, they really mistreated her so she hates them, but when they notice she isn't thriving they go to Milsiril for help (Helki specifically I'll talk more about him next). I think this indicates she really has a better understanding of short lived kids, her kids are thriving differently from the ones the other elves try to care for. I'd also like to remember she lives secluded from other elves so while Kabru probably had lots of interactions with elves during his life, most of it was probably spent with Milsiril and her other adoptive kids. She also asks Kabru if he would do this to help Rin, he isn't being forced or anything, I also think it's good that Milsiril knows she cant take in any more kids, this to me shows she's worried about the quality of life her kids have. That is all to say, Rin is the one with elf trauma, not Kabru, because Kabru had Milsiril to shelter him from them.

Helki

This will be short and sweet since there's barely anything about Helki, he's her prisioner companion from her time in the canaries, but he was pardoned after Utaya, it says so in the Canarie's Structure page in the new adventurer's guide but I cant really find it translated again... so here's google's machine translation (I remember it saying "Retired and pardoned as a reward after Utaya", something like that)

so officially he isn't a prisoner anymore, but I think he still works as a canary, even so he and Milsiril seem quite close, he is the one to go talk to her about Rin, He is there when she's training Kabru (both laughing at Kabru and then participating). I saw people theorizing she stays close to him because he is also someone who she can feel superior to, but I don't believe it at all, he's STILL in contact with her even after they have nothing to with each other, I think they really have a friendship, and there's no point where it seems like she feels like she's better than him or that he's less than her, people seem to interpret Milsiril and her relationships in the worst possible ways every time and I don't understand why.

This segways into Mithrun

I've also seen people assuming she only got close to Mithrun because now he needs her and has no power over her, once again with the theory that Milsiril surrounds herself with people she can feel superior to. But once again, Milsiril had a change of perspective about Mithrun after seeing his Dungeon

Rather than she feeling superior to him I think rather she realized he was just like her. (And I think she's friends with Helki for a similar reason, it's probably easier to see him as an equal than other nobles)

I've also seen this part used as proof of that. "He said that you've got suspicious ulterior motives and that I shouldn't listen to you" as if that's true, but this is past Mithrun, the one that didn't trust anyone and thought ill of all his teammates, ofc he doesn't believe someone would help him without an ulterior motive. This doesn't prove much about her real motivations.

Also before she showed up, Mithrun was being cared for by servants hired by his brother, he isn't someone helpless she has power over, he is still a member of an important Noble family that has a caring brother providing for him, he can do without Milsiril, he had done without her for 20 years before Utaya happened and she quit the Canaries.

This is all to say I think Milsiril is just a white(elf) adoptive mom doing her best, I don't see much of anything nefarious about her or her motivations, she is flawed as all the dunmeshi characters are, she isn't a perfect mom, she isn't an evil mom, she's just a person.

Elves in general also see short lived species as "children" so I imagine this makes her "You'll always be my baby" attitude way worse, she really treats pre-teen/teen Kabru like he's a toddler sometimes. But she also respected him enough to go all out in training him. I think they're a family with everything that entails.

PS: I didn't get much into Interracial adoption since this is something that happens irl too and I don't know much about all the issues that entails, but in the end, in this case, it seems like a net positive for the kids she adopts considering all we see about how she raised Kabru.

i was thinking about this last night so I YAPPED HARD IM SORRY, but to summarize:

so in my head he's gone to rehab already, like it was really bad between the ages of 16-19, but he's like 21/22 in my story therefore, i feel like he managed to put himself through rehab (or ward forced him). he still smokes weed tho, when he's anxious but he sorta forgets about it when he's around reader and especially why they get together officially. he's not the same party monster he used to be, just enjoys a glass of whiskey here and there. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

if he and ward got in a huge fight (his mom is alive in this, she just left so i'd say maybe she got in contact with ward about wanting to see the kids and rafe snaps because she was always coming and going when he was kid, and eventually never came back after weezie was born), he'd lose it completly and he wouldn't know what to do with himself bc he can't let you see him like that, like the old rafe. sooooo being the hasty dumbass that he is he'd go to barry's and he'd get highhh as kite.

and you'd find out bc it's the fucking cut obviously, everyone knows each other so maybe your sister was coming home from work and drove past barry's, saw rafe leave and once she gets home she's like?? since when's rafe's friends with barry??? and you KNOW immediately. you just feel something's wrong bc he told about his past (its canon that he told reader everything after their first time together idc).

this would be like a year and a half into the relantionship so ITS BAD BAD, bc what do you mean he went to his old drug dealer??? fell into old habits that almost killed him back then and NOT TO HIS GIRLFRIEND??? you'd be heartbroken obviously. and this would be one of the biggest fights ever i feel like, it wouldn't last just a day, it would go on on for weeks cause he knows you're disappointed and he can't bring himself to look at you.

A small analysis of Angel Dust's character (tw: SA, abusive relantionships, drug addiction, coping mechanism, also spoilers of the series)

Today is Angel Dust's birthday, he's my favorite Hazbin Hotel character and became one of my fave characters ever recently, he's being my new brainrot so I decided to write about his amazing character. Oh and English isn't my first language so forgive me for any mistake.

Ok now the first thing needed is to recognize Angel's (Anthony) situation. Anthony was born in the 1910s and died in 1947, with 30 years old, he was the son of a mafia leader and a homosexual man that needed to hide and opress his own sexuality, or else he'd be, at best, killed (if not worse). When he arrived Hell, he found to himself a taste of freedom that he could never experience in his life. I'm not sure about how many years he's been in the Val situation because Valentino died in the 1970s, but either way, he signed a soul contract with Valentino and now his soul belongs to him. The worst thing about his situation is that he was much probably in love with Val and was manipulated by him to sign the contract, it's really heartbreaking to think about it.

Although we don't know the exact circumstances that lead Angel to sign the contract (if he knew or not knew he was getting into porn, if Val lied to him, etc), we do know that he didn't expect to have the life he has at the moment. Angel is, in simple words, a sexual slave. Valentino abuses him mentally, physically, emotionally and mainly, sexually. He forces Angel to do uncomfortable, painful things in the studio, perform extra hours without any human condition or even a raise, and also demands sex and affection from him. Angel can't say no, he is coerced and afraid to go against Valentino's wishes. Valentino also uses a disturbing form of emotional abuse, lovebombing Angel after assaulting and abusing him, all to remain his control over Angel. Val tries to isolate Angel from everyone else and bursts in anger once Angel moves to the hotel, after all their deal says Val can do whatever he wants with Angel in the studio, outside of the studio, though, Angel is free. This is one of the reasons why he is desperate to keep Angel around. Which also indicates Val abuses him financially, if most (if not all) the money Angel earsn with HIS work goes to VAL, then Angel is even more vulnerable, powerless and dependent on his abuser. It explains why Angel agreed to live in the Hotel in the first place: he'd have a free room, away from Val, with the MINIMAL of privacy and safety.

Angel Dust, with this amount of abuse and trauma, obviously run into coping mechanism. Even if it's self destructive. Angel is addicted to drugs (his artistic name explains itself), apparently alcohol too, and most important, he masks his own feelings. He acts as Angel Dust, the perfect, unbothered pornstar that is not weak or vulnerable in any situation. Angel Dust is always confident, strong, wanted, and constantly does the only thing he was taught he was of: flirting. He agressively flirts with every men, he offers his own body to almost every men he sees, because if he surrender himself first, then he won't be hurted or coerced... right? Angel Dust hides his true feelings and pretends to not care about anything and anyone but himself. Angel is, most of the times, rude, and don't respect other people's boundaries (after all his own boundaries aren't respected).

Because, if Angel acts this way, he won't be harmed, he won't be hurted, he won't be abandoned. If he is emotionally distant from everyone, once they abandone him, it won't be so painful... right?

Anthony hides his true self as a cope mechanism. And he knows he isn't perfect. He isn't a perfect victim, he has flaws, he does wrong things and make people uncomfortable (specially Husk, the only man that rejects his flirting, which I will talk about later), and mainly, he blames himself for being abused. And this is why he is so afraid to be real and vulnerable, even next to his friends. He thinks he won't be accepted or treated with respect. He spent so many years being told that he is only worth for sex, that he ended up believing this is the true. He spent so many years being treated as a sexual object, that he began to think he really is. He spent so many years being abused, isolated and manipulated, that he is afraid of opening up. He spent so many years being blamed for other people's actions (mainly Valentino), that he believes it's all his fault.

You may argue that he is honest and vulnerable with Cherri Bomb, but that's the point: Cherri is in a similar situation, she had a traumatic experience in the past and has similar self-destructive behaviour. She is a good friend, she sees him as he is and understands him for personal experience. As for Charlie... well, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Charlie. She IS a good person, a good friend and clearly cares about her people more than anything in the world. She wants to help and save people, Angel being one of them. She nearly beated Valentino's ass for seeing him abusing Angel. BUT. Let's be honest: as a very privileged person (princess of hell) among wretched mortal souls, she has no social awareness. I mean, come on. She wrote an anti-drug, pro post-marrital sex play where she casted Angel (a drug addict and a non-married sex worker) as the "crackhead bad guy", and praised only Sir Pentious for doing exactly the same thing Angel did. She wants to help, but she doesn't know how. Angel doesn't feel safe enough to open up. Anyone in the Hotel appeared to be safe and trustworthy, Anthony/Angel was afraid of being judged. He is a victim of SA, gruesome things were done to his body without his consent and he is ashamed of it. His hypersexualization is a way to escape his shame (hypersexualization IS A REAL AND VALID COPING MECHANISM IN REAL LIFE).

It's only in his most vulnerable moment, when he is caught by surprise, that his real feelings appear. When Charlie invades Valentino's studio — putting, in Anthony's eyes, her safety in danger —, the real Anthony tries to protect her from Val. He knows how shitty Val is. A coward, evil, gruesome abuser that has desires to control everyone and everything, even the Princess of Hell herself. We all know Charlie is much more powerful and could easily beat Valentino's ass, but Anthony doesn't care about. He probably doesn't even think too much about it, he just wishes to protect his friend. This is one of the most beautiful character aspects that Anthony has: he cares for his friends, MORE than he fears Val.

For Anthony, it's easier to surrender his body and will to Valentino, anything to calm his whiny ass down and make things less painful. But when it comes to his friends... it's so, so much difficult. He pleads Val to not hurt Charlie. Later in E6-S1, he stands up against Valentino to protect Nifty. Angel pretends to be unbothered and relaxed most of the times in the Hotel, he acts like if he doesn't care, but he DOES. He cares for his friends more than he cares for himself. He puts his friends in the first place. For him, it can seem like nothing important, but it actually tells how caring and kind he actually is. He is protective. He doesn't want ANYONE to experience the same abuse he experiences. Every. Fucking. Day.

Angel's arc, in the first season, is realizing that there ARE people who love him and care for him, DESPITE HIS FLAWS. He is not an object, he is not a worthless sinner, he is a victim, he is a person, he is a FRIEND. Once he realizes that, he starts to be kind to himself, make better choices, set boundaries to himself and respecting other people's people boundaries. And speaking about boundaries...

Huskerdust is simply, aaah holy shit what a perfect dynamic, what a perfect shipp (and when I mean Huskerdust, I mean ONLY the romantic shipp).

Husk really got into Angel's nerves, because he was the only man who rejected his flirts. He didn't only rejected, he pushed Angel away many times and openly said that he could see that Angel was faking. To someone trying to hide his own feelings, afraid of being judged and ashamed of the consequences of his trauma, that probably hurted a lot. Angel was taught that his only worth is based on his physical beauty and if he is sexually desired. Seeing someone, not only rejecting his offers, but also seeing throught the act he puts on, must have terrified and hurted Angel in a way he never expected to feel. He wasn't upset because "Husk rejected him", he was feeling humiliated and confused because, for the first time in years, someone wanted to meet the real Anthony. Angel was gaslighted to think that he is only worth for sex, for being used.

So. "What do you mean Husk doesn't want to use me? He must hate me and I'm worthless!". It's obvious that he would have this reaction. During his breakdown after Husk called him "fake", he is saying those words to himself. He is reaffirming what he was told he was worth for: for being used. People would kill to have Angel in their beds, people would kill to afford Angel's services, people would kill to use Angel. "— Do you know how much I'm worth?" in fact, Angel himself doesn't know how much he is worth.

Husk was the person Angel NEEDED. He may have been harsh on him in some occasions, but Husk CARES for Angel. He is grumpy and won't say it out loud, but he does care. He protects Angel from being drugged and abused in a bar even after their argument. He offers to listen, he relates to Angel's situation and doesn't judge him. Angel NEEDED to have the reality shock throught Husk's words: no one cares if he's hot, famous, if he's a whore, if he has flaws, literally no one cares. His friends love him the way he IS. Husk wanted Angel to be truthful, that's all. Husk never forced any physical contact, in fact, he offers his hand first and waits until Angel accepts it — besides, his physical affection isn't based on sex or violence. Notice how Husk never actually said Angel's work is garbage or that he is a bad actor, because this would be a lie. Husk says the material that is given to Angel is garbage. After all, Angel's movies are written and directed by Valentino (if i'm not mistaken, one of his asshole clients Travis also help Val with the script), of course it's garbage. Husk sees that the situation Angel is in, is garbage. Is horrible. Angel felt offended at first because, again, he thought his worth was based on Val's bullshit, but NO. Angel, Anthony, is not Val's bullshit, he is absolutely different.

Husk sees him as a real person. After Angel overstepped boundaries many times, Husk could easily tell him to fuck off, let him be drugged and raped without giving a damn, mocking his trauma, which would be a total asshole attitude but no. Husk, even being mad at Angel, listens to him with an opened heart. This is what Angel needed. He needs love and affection from someone that sees him as he is, and this person is Husk. Their bonding is so sweet in the next episodes, and I'm really excited to see how their slow-burn is going to happen in next seasons.

"Loser, Baby" is such an amazing song, it's so cute and adorable and it's exactly the type of comfort that Angel needed. Husk is also on a leash. He sold his soul to Alastor, he is constantly mistreated and forced to do things he doesn't want to do by this powerful overlord, and if Husk says no, he might lose his life. He knows exactly how Angel is feeling. He doesn't have a solution for their problems, he can't do anything against neither Valentino nor Alastor, but what he can do is helping Angel. Comforting him, listening to him and offering him companion. Angel is living a horrible situation, but he ISN'T ALONE. Yes, Angel is a cocked-up dick sucking hoe, and IT'S OKAY.

Now listen: "Addict" is Angel's song that denies his suffering. He pretends to "don't give a damn" and to be fine with the life he's living. "Poison" is the realization that he needs help, he is being abused and is slowly destroying himself with his addictions. He aknowledges his suffering, but he is still hopeless. "Loser, Baby" is Angel letting hope in. He knows he's, well, a loser, a broken person that lives a terrible, suffered life, but he is NOT alone. He is loved, despite his flaws, because his friends aknowledge his qualities and worth, him as a person. Anthony, not Angel Dust.

What an amazingly well-written character, fuck my life. I love him so much 😭

Saw many posts about who would be top/bottom with arlefuri and what if:

One thing I really love about Disco Elysium is how it subverts your expectations based on stereotypes and clichés you've learnt to expect from media.

There are the Hardie boys. Obvious first suspects and vigilanties given questionable authority by the Union and what more do they appear at the first glance than some mean boys gang. Except they *are* trying to make Martinaise better and safer place and they are willing to help their neighbours and people who seek refugee there - that's what the arranged lynching was about in the end. And yes their remarks are still sexist, they do not hesitate to use brutal force (I was testing what if I chose the worst option and they killed me and Kim on like three separate occasions). But also they could quite easily be abusing the power they have.

There is Evrat Claire fitting into evil fat ceo stereotype and you expect to learn that he does not really care about his workers and that the whole Union strike and getting benefits for the workers is some evil scheme but no! Turns out he really wants the Union to work out and he fights for his workers. He is using his influence to prevent organized crime and build up infrastructure and he cares about people of Martinaise - enough to create superficial job for René, enough to fund education for Elizabeth. And he is still not a best person. He is trying to bribe Harry. He does not hesitate to get rid of threats to his goals. His plans for Fishing village are not good either. And his refusal to acknowledge the danger mercenaries poses is questionable at best.

There is Cuno, delinquent kid screaming slurs at you and you expect him to be more of one gimmick character that is there just to make place feel more alive but you can actually bond with him and learn not only about his life and domestic abuse but also about his hobbies and you would not expect him to be your companion but there he can be if you fail to save Kim and you can recruit him to RCM.

There is Insulindian Phasmid. Mythical creature that is obviously fake and how ridiculous would it be to really believe in its existence? You expect all the mission surrounding it to be just a treasure hunt in vain that is really not about the Phasmid and more about relantionship of Lena and Morrell but no. The Phasmid is very much real and you can encounter it and it is much bigger and smarter than you would expect even if you did believe in its existence.

And then there is of course Kim Kitsuragi, your partner from precinct 57 and where can one even begin to describe all the contradictions Kim is? He just fits into that boring and very serious cop who is there to serve as your foil and hold you back and guide you and who will always be polite and kind. But no, he is genuinely funny and mean. He will not coddle you he just wants to do his job. He will not hesitate to call you on your bullshit but also he can play along with whatever scheme you are attempting. And he is actually very competitive and he can be silly and he is willing to agree even to some of your straight out crazy ideas. But he does care about you and he is quite amused by some of your stereo investigations. And when you learn about his past you understand why he always tris to keep up his perfect composure. And I will rather stop here because there is just so much to say about Kim.

I could go on and on I do not even know where to begin with our player character Harry and the journey of discovering who he is, who he was and who he could be. I could just keep listing characters and what are you supposed to notice about them at first and who you are supposed to assume they are in contrast what you can actually learn about them as you progress. And, yes, sometimes things are as they appear and the Racist Lorry Driver is just a racist and a lorry driver.

The point is you should never judge others based on the first impression even if they are just video game characters who appear to be cardboard cutout of overused cliché.

Daigo and Jin Headcannons

Made a list of headcannons about how i see daigo and jin's friendship, these are all when they are in highschool

(Btw you can read they're relationship as queer platonic too, i feel like they would be ok with that label for they're relantionship too)

-Daigo likes holding jin’s hands between his a lot, he likes the feeling of them because they are raspy

-Jin likes holding Daigo's hands because they are small, he also likes bullying Daigo about it

-Jin likes sleeping in Daigo’s lap, he also likes leaning his back on his chest when they sit together

-Daigo loves staring at Jin and will do so subconsciously, Jin pretends to not care but he is actually really embarrassed about it and becomes self conscious

-When jin feels he will have a narcoleptic episode, he pulls on Daigo's sleeve to warn him about it so Jin doesn't fall on his face

-Jin has a photo of Daigo in his room(he will never tell Daigo that)

-There was one time Daigo got sick and had to go to the hospital, Jin called him every week pretending he was calling to ask about homework, one day he cried on the phone and Daigo never forgot about that

-Daigo won't admit it, but sometimes he gets jealous when Jin hangs out with Rantaro instead of him

-Daigo used to have a small crush on Jin, however, he realized what the two of them had was much more intimate than romance. He finds his crush funny when he looks back at it

-Jin will sometimes say things that hurt daigo without realizing it, Daigo never tells him when he does and that has caused more than a few conflicts between them

-Daigo has learned to decrypt most of Jin's ghost talk, tho he still gets confused every now and then when it comes to the way Jin compliments people

-Jin forgave daigo for implying he was a cheater back when they were kids, but he still thinks about that every now and then

-Jin is scared of Xander and hates when Daigo brings the Sword Flames to their hang outs(he likes Ukyo tho)

-Daigo thinks some of Jin's habits are gross(he keeps picking his nose and navel)

-When Daigo is feeling extra sappy, he likes rubbing his face in Jin's shoulders like a cat

-Jin likes playing horror games and likes showing them to Daigo, who is very much not a fan at all(Jin once showed him a game that caused him to have nightmares for a whole week)

-Daigo forces Jin to shower, eat and drink water regularly, Jin always complains but he has been a lot healthier than what he used to be

-Jin and Daigo have a blood pact (Jin's request) where they promised to always be there for eachother

-Daigo has never seen Jin's older brothers in person, but he is still scared of meeting them(They look like punks D:)

-Ryota used to hate Jin but they became friends after Jin gave Ryota a list of all the ways he can scare Daigo

-Daigo and Jin attend a bey club in their school, Daigo is often the analyser while Jin prefers keeping to himself

-Daigo has nightmares often and tells them to Jin so he can give him ideas for spooky stories to write

persephone's relationship with demeter is so fascinating. her existence is just an extension of demeter, at first, and their bond is a never ending cycle of life. demeter birthed kore and the personification of spring came forth, but her absence leads to cold and drought to not just her mother's heart but to the whole world : it is a deep connection between the child x the creator and so much more ( ... ) i'll write kore as a defiant force against her mother but doing so in a respectful, wishful, and even adoring way ; questioning her place as only a secondary piece to an olympian instead of her own diety that deserves praise and fear as any other. a being refusing to go against what the fates have written, but wondering if she's meant to be just maiden of spring ( sometime i'll write how that defiance applies to hades as well and how far were her choices considered but i believe it is much more complex considering how the hades and persephone thing is seen, usually, and how many myths and tellings are of that story. i like the homer route and the goose tale, too, that little know of. anyway ). wondering if demeter is correct in keeping her just that, her daughter, and little else. the sensation of being held back. and later on, above all, fighting for power against demeter, as i believe gods of any size are in a constant battle for glory and power despite love and adoration for each other. i believe wholeheartedly that the mother x daughter relantionship is a fascinating aspect of our lives and usually the most definining one be it healthy of not. the same applies here. she's much more devoting to her duties to demeter once she has her own steady foot equal to hera and amphitrite's, loving her as spring does the earth and all its living creatures, but demanding equal respect and consideration despite demeter being her creator.

I just saw the on-screen chemistry ask,and honestly I feel the same.Unfortunately I'm the type of aro that can't pick up on romantic subtext if my life depended on it..I would probably be the historian that said they were just good friends.

I feel isolated from the parts of fandom that focus on shipping.

It's fine if it's a canon ship(ex. they shared a kiss,anything less and I Do Not Realise) but any fanon/heavily hinted at couples are very hit or miss for me.Most of them feel forced as I really can't envision them being an actual couple no matter how hard I try.It's like there's an invisible,imaginary step in my mind that I can never cross. Why can't people just be close friends?

I do not want to get into Anti/Pro discourse here,but the only pairings I actually feel attached to are the toxic/immoral ones.They make me want to open their skulls and see what made them that way.Though I think it's more about the characters in the relantionship and what it says about them rather than the actual pairing if that makes sense?

Part of learning to engage with fandom is discovering that shipping is mostly not for me,and that's okay.

I can absolutely relate! I never really understood the appeal of shipping no matter how much I liked the idea of two characters being sort of a duo. I always stuck to the canon pairings and the only time I ever really got invested in a ship that wasn't really the main focus of the story was when it involved my favorite character who got very little screentime. Even then I just liked the aspect of that character having a crush on the other character as part of his own little story within the main plot and how it affected him. Otherwise I really REALLY don't pick up on the chemistry between two characters so I don't get the appeal of tropes like friends to lovers and especially not enemies to lovers. I do not see the chemistry or romantic/sexual tension in two characters hating eachother lmao.

As for the toxic/immoral thing I can kind of see what you mean there. Personally I think pairings like that aren't meant to be enjoyed as a cute feel good and fluffy romances and work much better as tools to depict the psychological fuckery behind the characters and their dynamic. These topics should be explored as a way to understand what goes on in the minds of people who end up in these kinds of scenarios

And yeah. I rarely engage in fandoms and even then I only do so passively, and I'm not much of a fanfic person either. Shipping isn't my cup of tea either

Yk i feel like swifities haven't learn a thing. I don't understand the obssesion over Travis, and comparing him to Joe. I'm the first to say i never cared for yogurt boy and still don't. Like "oh cause she so much more free with Travis" "oh cause Travis is letting her shine" "oh they aren't hiding" like they've known each other less than a year. We all loved Joe's ass in 2017 and loved their relationship. So let's wait a few years to see how the relationship really goes.

I think i personaly just wish swifities would give Taylor credit for her growth, not some boyfriend. This whole "Joe didn't let her out the house" no, she chose to be private because of 2016. It's true that Joe didn't keep up with her fame but that was the moment she ended things. She CHOSE herself after all. Travis doesn't LET HER shine, she's shining and wouldn't let some guy stop her again. That's HER growth, HER healing.

So hearing people's opinions about a 6 month relantionship VS a 6 years relantionship is crazy to me.

On the most part I agree, but I can also understand why those who have less experience with romantic relationships (which is not a negative thing but which this site tends be a part of said group) see it so black and white. Like we all say that we're not going to "let" someone "make" us do something or won't back down on what we want if we get in relationship, but relationships, romantic and otherwise, do take compromises to work, and sometimes, when those compromises don't pay off/the relationship ends, people see it in a different light which I'm sure is going to be part of what we hear about on the next album. I've also spoken at lengths about how starting relationships when you're in a bad place mentally can lead the other person to, sometimes unwillingly, get a hero complex and feel uncomfortable when the day comes that you get better and they can no longer fill that role, especially when they're not doing well. But (barring some big shocking revelation of abuse comes out, which I'm not expecting it will) that doesn't change that in this case, Joe didn't force Taylor to do anything. She made sacrifices for the relationship and when she realised he was not willing to do the same, she left. Sure there's talks to be had about mental health and whatever, but when you strip it down to its bare bones (again barring any major unknown revelations coming out), that's what happened.

Relationship analysis

Seo Hwi x Yi Bang Won

This dynamics between Hwi and Bang Won is very intetesting an for me it was one of the top things I liked about this show. Yet, there are still some unanswered questions. So lets take a closer look at this relantionship.

Hwi and Bang Won meet for the first time in episode 6. Hwi is unvoluntarily in service of Nam Jeon at this time. Nam Jeon is Bang Won's political opponent and he wants to use Hwi as a spy. However, Hwi has his own plan and he wants to use Bang Won for revenge on Nam Jeon for everything bad he has done to him and his sister. Hwi and Bang Won meet at a hunt where Hwi shows his archery skills. Bang Won is impressed not only by Hwi's skills but also his very immediate behavior.

However, Bang Won is smart and very suspicious. He sees through Hwi's plan to get to his favour and he order to beat him. He asks Hwi who sent him and he doesn't believe him when Hwi claims he is just a hunter. It's  clear that Bang Won likes him from the start, but he don't trust him and he would kill him if Seon Ho didn't come to save him at this moment.

Hwi is playing dangerous game, but Bang Won finally give him the chance. It takes them some time to start to trust each other and there are always some doubts and hidden secrets.

The breaking point is when Nam Jeon orders Hwi to assasinate Bang Won, but Hwi makes a plan how to save him. From this point, there is clear shift in their relationship. There is more trust and respect.

It seems to me that there is always some hidden doubt if the trust is truly mutual.

They save each other...

...they fight together...

...they start to understand their motivations and internal struggles....

They are both very loyal, but I can feel there some kind of fear that this attachment has an expiration date. Towards the end of the story, there are some cracks in the so far solid wall of friendship. It's quite obvious how they like each other. Hwi definitely respect Bang Won a lot and share most of his visions. He is also very grateful for everything Bang Won has done for him. Bang Won's affection always seemed much deeper. He definitelly respects Hwi, but I think he really likes him for who he is, he admires him and has a soft spot for him. When their alliance starts to fall apart, he looks very sad about that.

You can really say that he is heartbroken and he is grieving over loosing someone who was probably the closest person he has. He know's that when the time comes, Hwi will choose Seon Ho over him. I would even say there is jealousy of unrequired love, but that would be just speculation. To be fair, it was mostly Bang Won's actions that forced Hwi to go against him and he knew it will end this way (it was also partially because of Hwi's unheathy friendship with Sron Ho). But Bang Won always prioritize his visions over his feelings.

The story of Hwi and Bang Won is a tragedy. Hwi promises that he will forget everything, leave and never come back if Bang Won spare Seon Ho's life and Bang Won agrees. But then things change and Hwi realise that his people will never be safe if he and Seon Ho will be a thread for Bang Won. So the two of them go to Bang Won and sacrifice themselfs for Bang Won's promise that he won't kill anyone else.

The ending is so sad, but kind of poetic. It's really tragic to watch how two young men die for nothing. And how one man sacrifice everything to win a throne and then he lives full of guilt and with broken heart for the rest of his life.

📺: Is your OC inspired at all by characters from other media? Which one(s) and what traits do they have in common?

-the Spark that made me start developing his lore was without question first ignited when i first read Vagabond and his design is influenced by Guts from berserk, Him later losing an eye to Zenos in Stormblood was inspired by such. But much of his character arc i believe was on it's own with any influences being subconscious at best

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦: What is their family like? Are there any family members that are particularly influential and/or important to them (whether in a positive or negative sense)?

-I'm not gonna give a full answers as your still progressing thru the game and wanna see you go thru some stuff before i give certain details

Unryu's relantionship with his family was overall very positive Albeit abit stressful from living under garlemald as non-citizens

Unryu spent the most time with his Mother who taught him to work the forge when he was young and was often a protective figure in his youth, pulling him away from things that could put him in danger when he was under her watch Granted with how large he grew up to be he didn't need that watch for much longer

His dad he treasures alot. If you asked Unryu who he thought the wisest person on the planet was he'd answer his dad rather than any famed Sharlayan scholar. His morals of avoiding violence unless it becomes unavoidable were something that stuck particularly close with Unryu and was part of the reason he wanted to dodge conscription. So he wouldn't be forced to fight when he didn't wanted to

His grandfather, old and bitter as he is initially scared Unryu when he was a small child but nearing his teens he began talking to him alot more he began telling him how Doma was before Garlemald and the horror stories of the war between the two nations which the old man fought in himself

leaving them behind was a hard choice for him to make but he felt it was either be forced to rob some other poor bastard of his home or run away from his.

-Unryu Gesi! Unryu meaning cloud dragon, Initially named after a japanese war ship because i wanted a nautical theming to his name. But if you look at my answer to Mac's questions you'd see that Unryu retroactively took up a weather motif as well, funny how that is. The Gesi is one of the many Xeala tribes of the Azem steppe that his Grandma, Bayaarma Gesi came from While he's yet in the context of where your at in the game to step foot in the steppe themselves he still holds pride in his partial Xeala ancestry.

I dont like it when people try to force tommy on the qsmp. Like, im not a tommy hater in the slightest, but dsmp tired me out with how often tubbo was just seen as his best friend and not his own person. Seeing him on the qsmp (ik he was on other servers, but none were as popular nor as focused in lore as far as im aware) is such a breath of fresh air and i fear that if tommy were to join, the ex dsmpers would once again reduce him to be his shadow and ignore his unique characteristics and relantionships. Plus, Im not sure how well his streamer persona (loud, obnouxious and very ironic) would mesh with non native english speakers yknow?

I see whatcha mean and I agree that people can be… really intense about Tommy, sometimes pushing Tubbo out of the spotlight. But I also REALLY want Tommy on the server, because I do think he will get along well with a lot of people (Roier and Tommy… would be a scary duo).
