Putting a screen protector on a new phone has got to be one of the most stressful parts about getting a new phone, with waiting around for the case and screen protector being a close second.
#it's always the same old thing. I've upgraded devices more than a gazillion times and it's still the same story#the phone always arrives first and I can't unbox or start using it until the screen protector or case comes in. So it's just sitting on my#table while I sit on my bed with excitement and impatience.#Temu and Aliexpress take forever to be delivered so I stopped going to them for cases/protectors. I also dislike them for other reasons#another inconvenience is deciding how to transfer stuff and what not to transfer. I made the mistake of moving everything from my#iPhone 13 pro to my iPhone 15 back in February. This time around I have decided not to and only move necessary things#for a fresh clean slate#electronics#personal

A few days ago I woke up bleary eyed, sat down at my computer, and spat this out.
Mostly just a bit of goofy sketching but here's magical boy (magical man?) submas
I'm not gonna flesh this out a whole bunch since there's not much I can really do with it, but some rough notes:
Both of them have two soul stones, one in the hat and one in the staff. In their base uniform, the staff's stone is on the back of their gloves, separating when activated
They're only able to activate their abilities when they're with each other. Though they can both separately fight and return to normal, they need each other to begin the reaction and use their powers. Should one of them go missing, the other will not be able to use their abilities
The stone can be removed from the staff, returning to the hand if it is. The purpose of doing this is to replace it with a pokeball, allowing the staff to channel the pokemon's moves along with its standard attacks (electricity for Emmet, fire for Ingo)
Ingo and Emmet can trade (or steal) clothes mid transformation, switching pieces or entire uniforms. Emmet will typically borrow Ingo's darker gloves and boots if he expects to get particularly violent in battle, while Ingo usually takes Emmet's white accessories since he finds them more classy than his full black uniform
They are able to float in their magical forms, mostly using the levitation to run loops around their opponents and pressure them from all sides
The only opponent is literally Team Plasma, this power is reserved solely for beating grunts, sages, or Ghetsis should they ever cross paths (technically the code is to defend the world from evil but for any other issue they'll either settle it normally or with pokemon battling)
This was mostly for shits and giggles but I hope you enjoy đ
#submas#submas au#au#ingo#subway master ingo#ingo pokemon#nobori#emmet#subway master emmet#emmet pokemon#kudari#magical boy#mahou shounen#just between you and meâ after a certain amount of time/stressâ the stones will eventually lose sense of the other set and operate alone#in theory Warden Ingo could reactivate them by accident traversing the wilds of Hisui#and Emmet could reactivate them when Team Plasma resurfaces#By that point it's likely that their forms would've warped and shiftedâ no longer a set but two separate entities trying to operate alone#Perhaps I'll sketch that ideaâ it'd be funny to see Emmet's grief and rage turn his uniform into something foul#while Ingo's faint memories and new experiences leave him with a clean slate and a fresh uniform

rook being such a nobody and surrounded by more influential companions right after the obviously well known inquisitor could be really cool actually. that conversation w solas 'what will they call you after this is done' <- NO FUCKING CLUE LOL!! the idea that this millennia long, world-ending story of gods and a herald being controlled for a moment by a nobody is incredible. they start as an irritant and end having saved the world. nobody thanks them. they go back home. maybe they're literally wiped off the face of the world when they're trapped in the fade with the dread wolf! and most of all, their name is not remembered. literally, because they become a 'rook' to the inquisitor's king.
like iâm actually really liking the idea that the inquisitor and rook get conflated into the same person by the public and by history, and what little agency they had is taken away. you were never in control of this story. your narrative will be written by other people, just like every figurehead that came before you. you are not the chosen one. the choice to have faded out and see the irrelevancy as a boon, or struggle to make your name known (not rook, not the nickname, not the title) would have been so. interesting.
veilguard is a heroic story (and the game doesnât even let you be rude most of the time) that has to end heroically (the evanuris are defeated in some way, the last archdemon dies, and most rooks climb down from minrathous to literal cheers and applause) but the hero themself is forgettable. narratively that could have been so funnnn. but it wasnât on purpose so it just feels hollow.
#even the inquisitor is referred to by last name. and#re: irrelevancyâŠ. not in a way that would have made it obvious#but humble responses leading to your erasure vs. prideful ones that look for glory turning you into something larger than yourself#and i think this was because of what veilguard actually is#a sequel thatâs actually a soft reboot#veilguard isnât just looking to establish a new status quo#its looking to make things as âcompleteâ as possible. rook leaves no great mark on the world#because it has to be fixed so the next game starts fresh. thereâs a priority in making a clean slate#so rook fundamentally just. does almost nothing.#their companions have a serious hold in how history progresses (harding + dwarves#bellara + archive)#but the biggest choice they make is probably treviso v minrathous. and one of them ends up blighted anyway#so depending on choices the biggest legacy they leave behind is probably#the relative safety of a single city that isnât even the capital of antiva#anyways. i have to lie down.#rook#txt#veilguard spoilers#dragon age

John Darnielle really said "even things that permanently and intentionally mark you will fade away if you keep working in the light" in the same album as "everything you do will have permanent effects on others from the moment you start" and "some things in life are inevitable by virtue of living in it" and now I will never stop thinking about those funky horns
#Specifically referring to the chorus/bridge of fresh tattoo and the bridge/outro of clean slate#and the everything about Only One Way#One day I'll write my whole essay on the jenny from thebes album but until then I just have constant revelatory thoughts every time I liste#tmg

Do you have a family tree for DOTC and the ancient tribes around the lake with Hollyleaf/Fallenleaf?
I don't yet. When I finish up my re-read, I'm going to gather ALL of the DOTC cats and start dividing them up into the three cultural groups. After getting them all in bundles, I'm going to whip them up into proper family trees.
If you're asking about canon's family tree... I can make it if you'd like, but I'd just be showing you the ticking timebomb of genetic diversity they set up for themselves. It's all Quiet Rainkin and random forest cats, most introduced after book 3. None of the other settlers had grandchildren and the living children have no mates.
Sun Shadow died.
Lightning Tail died and Acorn Fur was forced into a vow of chastity
None of Turtle Tail's kits have kits; one is in a vow of chastity
There's nothing to "preserve" about the canon tree, unfortunately. It's not really a "tree," it's more like a couple of bubbles with a ton of dead women floating around outside.
For funsies, let me try and remember all the "bubbles" off the top of my head, plus when the characters were introduced
Ravenstar x Juniper Branch (Book 6)
Milkweed x Leaf (Book 5, Book 2, plus existing kits with an unknown mate)
Misty (Book 2; kits have no kits.)
Shadowkin: Tall, Moon, Sun (1, 1, 5, extinct)
Jackdaw's Cry x Hawk Swoop (extinct)
Turtle Tail x Tom the Wifebeater (endangered)
Riverstar x Finch Song (Book 1, super edition)
Wind Runner x Gorse Fur (Moth Flight and Dust Muzzle are born in book 3)
Willow Tail (introduced with a sibling in book 4; extinct)
Shaded Moss was the father of Rainswept Flower (extinct)
Fox and Petal were siblings (Petal raised Misty's children)
I forgot the name of Drizzle's mom and sibling (book 6)
I think there's also a cat called Apple Bottom Jeans or something in Thunderstar's Echo who has a litter, but I can't remember her mate without google. There were also some litters born in Riverstar's Home I can't remember. I barely remember the side books, were there any others born in Shadowstar's Life...?
Here's all the pairings in the Quiet Rainkin family, as contrast;
Quiet Rain x Unknown (4 kits)
Clear Sky x Bright Stream (Died pregnant; gave birth to 2 dead angel fetus children in heaven)
Clear Sky x Storm (Thunder was the only survivor of 3)
Clear Sky x Star Flower (two litters; the first was 3 iirc, the second unknown)
Jagged Peak x Holly (3 kits)
Gray Wing x Slate (3 kits iirc)
Thunder x Violet Dawn (4 kits)
So... bottom line is, something like 50% of births were coming out of the Quiet Rainkin family, and they account for something like 30% of cats with existing family at all.
Personally, I think that's awful in a prequel arc that's supposed to be about ancestors. So I'm going to be making whole families for BB.
#bone babble#Re: this is all from memory#Did I miss any?#Also this is a large reason i think theyre just bad at handling family trees.#It was a completely clean slate and they are still barelling towards a pretzel in a couple generations#Unless they continue to summon fresh bodies from the bushes#MY excuse is that I don't work with OCs and have to handle the small population sizes.#I work with limits theyve set and even I can still think more carefully about family trees#They do not care at all about them or consider them outside of superficial references#And I dislike that. The whole draw of the series imo is following them through their lives and subsequent generations#But hey. My kitchen my spices.#If BB ever had its serial numbers sanded off I'd keep the BB!DOTC families into the modern era too lmaoo#But that's neither here nor there

Okay, a few years back I made this graphic to explain the Great Cycle. Now that I've mulled over DD2 for a few days, I'm updating it. Some of the same assumptions as before remain: The Dragonforged fought the dragon, his weapon broke, he tried punching it (lmao), but he did survive without killing the dragon, possibly there was a second Bargain offered in the face of his determination. So you don't have to kill your dragon to survive it. Also still assuming that different classes become different types of drakes because I just like that detail, even though we see nothing to confirm it in DD2 (except maybe for the wyrms in the post-game, I hope that's what those are, just a bit redesigned).
But this time, I'm making some NEW assumptions: A Great Dragon can be manifested directly by the Seneschal's will (I'm guessing this is why our DD2 dragon doesn't have a name, I suspect this dragon was created after Rothais defeated his - he didn't become a dragon OR Seneschal so it had to come from somewhere). The challenge a Seneschal poses to the Arisen can be anything; Savan gave us the opening of the Everfall and unleashed a ton of powerful monsters upon the world; but Pathfinder gave us what the world would look like without a Seneschal to oversee things. My assumption is that the Colossal Dragon that appears out of that final red pillar of light IS the Pathfinder (possibly using his will to force order back upon the world) and when we kill it, our Arisen becomes Seneschal (because Pathfinder says he won't be there to see the new world that's forming). So the challenge can be anything, not just the Everfall. I'm curious what happens to our pawn after that fight, though. And it's a much better Seneschal fight than the one against Savan, sorry Savan.
I'm also assuming that (given we see the Pathfinder rewind time and rewrite the world) the Seneschal can simply will the world into a state of being that suits them. This includes wiping memories of events. Though I like to imagine that our Arisen-turned-Seneschal didn't wipe memories of themselves or of the apocalypse-world. There was an entire plotline going through this game with Rothais and Phaesus where mortals are trying to get rid of the Seneschal and so it makes sense that they need to remember what would happen without the Seneschal's presence.
Anyway, thanks. I'll probably have more thoughts later, but this is the part that gets me most. I like to know how things work so I wanted to sort the Cycle out.
#dragon's dogma#dragon's dogma 2#dragons dogma#reliviews#the great cycle#personal#i wonder where a ng+ will put me#i really am excited to play ng+#but i need a break to rotisserie chicken what i've got so far#i'll come back to it with a fresh pov after a few weeks i think#there are of course still things i wanna know#what's the deal with the dragonsplague#it's not just a mechanic they added to troll us#but what is its significance#what happens to our pawn after we defeat the colossal dragon#they flat out state we infused them with will of their own#so do they become human after that#or does the plague kill them#and there are always timeline questions#what happens to lamond and this new dragonforged#how long ago were they arisen#what about rothais#he's not even really alive anymore but does he finally get to die#is the brinepocalypse something that HAS to happen periodically#to like clean slate the world#to remind people of the importance of the seneschal and maintain peace for a time afterwards#what happened to religion#there was a maker and faith-church in the first game#where's that now have people just forgotten to worship the seneschal#anyway

GAME: Age of Calamity DIRECTORY: Height ref, #character tag
One of Hyrule's extraordinary Champions, though they certainly don't feel like it given how everything's turned out. With what they perceive as a failure of grand proportions â and with whom Terrako has enlisted for help â they have little time, capacity, or believed right to concern themself over anything more than: how do they fix this? Not exactly hostile but hardly welcoming, the majority of the party finds interacting with them something like trying to grind down stone barehanded.
WEAPON: Royal Broadsword and Hylian Shield. Prodigious with the blade since childhood, their swordsmanship proves to be amongst the best of the party â even as they're hampered by the painstaking process of adapting to their prosthetic arm. Their drive would be admirable, if it wasn't so self-denying.
GEAR: Champion must-haves. Perhaps the most fitting way to describe the nature of their inventory would be "excessively functional". Outside of particular standouts like their paraglider, hair-tie, or seasonings kit, nearly everything is carried for its necessity rather than for any sentimental value. Notably, there is an absence of the equipment that used to define the Knight Who Seals the Darkness.
SKILL: Sheikah arm. A transhumeral prosthesis engineered by Purah and Robbie with the help of several medical professionals, for part of the right arm Knight no longer has. Powered by Ancient Cores and a miniature Guidance Stone, it's network-interfaced with the Sheikah Slate, allowing them to make use of Sheikah Runes even in the device's (and Terrako's) absence. It's not a perfect solution (check-ups still need to be regularly conducted and Knight has residual and phantom limb pain on top of everything else to handle), but it's enough.
SKILL: Royal guard. There's more than just extensive combat training that comes with being a knight, of course. For one so involved with the Royal Family, receiving a formal education in equestrianism, the arts, sports, etiquette, survivability, and so on was par for the course. How well they took to each subject is a different matter altogether.
LANGUAGES & COMMUNICATION: Hearing, though with auditory processing issues. Understands Hylian (Modern Alphabet), conversational Zoran, Sheikah, Rito, and Goron, and very limited Gerudo. Non-speaking, they use the present era's Hylian Sign Language to communicate.
Literate, so they'll try to write if given the means to when needed. They're otherwise pretty decent at pantomiming.
FAMILY: They have an official byname, technically, but aren't keen on being associated with their father and have opted for the toponymic alternative offered by way of their mother. Not that they're on the greatest terms with her, either. Out of their family members, they're closest with their younger sister â which isn't saying much when they feel like they're distant friends at best and barely acquaintances at worst (it's complicated).
PERSONAL TIMELINE: Went through the events of Age of Calamity when they were seventeen-years-old. It's been over a year since.
NICKNAME ORIGIN: Taken from their occupation, as proposed by Patches. Cori signs this as is ("knight"). Linh and Patches fingerspell (alphabetically, "K-n-i-g-h-t").

Feel Like Quitting -- Already?
Itâs only day eight of 2025, and maybe youâre eyeing those New Year resolutions like leftovers in the back of the fridge? As for me? I just finished a piece of fudge, reassuring myself, âNew health leaf starts Monday⊠or the Monday after that.â Priorities, right? Honestly, there are too many things to juggle â leading a womenâs prayer group, prepping for Wednesday nightsâ Bible study, writingâŠ

Been listening to The Mountain Goats' Clean Slate and Fresh Tattoo last few days and I gotta say: those reoccurring horns that play between Clean Slate's lyrics "absence after absence, keep the place secure" and "this will be the last time I do this I'm pretty sure" that you hear again in Fresh Tattoo just fill me with joy and optimism. I don't know if that's the intended effect, but that's how they make me feel.

I saw you mention in an ask that you work as a concept artist. First of all that's insanely cool??? Secondly could I ask how you got to work in that field? And in what industry did you find a job? You don't have to answer if it's too personal, I just REALLY wanna work in that field too and I have had no luck so far
Iâm super lucky to have gotten my job, the industry is REALLY tough!! I went to school for both 3D animation & graphic design, and the company I was hired at had just opened a new department so I was able to work to build that division of the company! :)
#ask#personal#Iâm gonna refrain from saying the company or the industry bc I really really donât want people knowing where I work hehe#this account is meant to give me a fresh clean slate where I donât have to worry abt public image and being professional hsfhs

Day 3 of 3: Parts Unknown, Montana
Itâs not really called Parts Unknown (how awesome would that be - some of you just never watched wrestling). Those who need to know, know.
The American dream still exists, even if itâs hanging by a thread. 2,217 miles away from the only place I have ever called home, I feel blessed to have made it here, but the work is just beginning. A special thank you to all of the warm wishes along the journey and great things to come.
Cheers!
