Reviving Indigenous Mixtec Cocoa Traditions.
The social enterprise Oaxacanita Chocolate embraces Mexicoʼs rich cocoa culture and is working with Indigenous communities to revive these traditions while spurring the social, economic and environmental development in the state of Oaxaca. Founder German Santillán is building a business that embraces the principles of fair trade and environmental sustainability in collaboration with local communities. “I teamed up with local Indigenous families in Oaxaca, and we began operations in an empty room in my grandmotherʼs house. We started cultivating 20 cacao trees and now we have 5,000 under cultivation in five towns across the region,” he says. Today, Oaxacanita Chocolate is the first proudly Indigenous chocolate company in Mexico to form international alliances with organizations such as the Inter-American Foundation and the US Government.
Intellectual property has played a significant role in brand development. “The first thing we did in Oaxacanita Chocolate – Oaxacanita means, ʻthe little girl of Oaxacaʼ in Zapotec-Spanish – was to register the name of our brand. Then we opened our Facebook page where most of our marketing operations take place. Thatʼs where we make 80% of our total sales,” Santillán explains. Looking to the future, Oaxacanita Chocolate plans to promote its brand and increase its value in multiple markets beyond Mexico. By 2022, the company had sold over 2,000 kilos of chocolate and was expanding its online presence to Canada and the United States.

Naegamigiri Shower Thought (literal) Also SLIGHT spoiler-ish talk and all! Is tagged as spoilers!! No worries!!
Sometimes, I like thinking about domestic situations with these three, perhaps living together for some reason. But, not like the overly cute ideas like them going on little movie dates in the comfort of their own living arrangement. Not that those aren't fun to think of though! I'll always be a sucker for some good ass fluff. However, I've came to a specific thought in mind. I have a feeling Makoto's hair is kinda thick and would clog a drain. I also feel Kyoko with her long hair would also clog a drain. Kyoko's more carful about it, ensuring she brushes her hair thoroughly before showering though occasionally gets a bit forgetful due to her busy work ethic. It's either that or she's taking a late night shower, she's way more likely forget cus she kinda just wants to fuck off and go to bed. The gal means business after all, even if it means neglecting other things that are also kinda important. Would not be shocked at all if she just forgot to eat sometimes, not gonna lie. This gal is also constantly up at night working on cases or some other reasons I can't think of in this very moment. Meanwhile, Makoto is just a very forgetful man. Probably never really thought about this kinda stuff either. Not cus he's incompetent though. Man is just tired in life now. Probably been ages since he's actually been well rested due to his life of basically being the world's savior as the Ultimate Hope. My goodness though. Byakuya is SO giving him a talking too about it, even if the heir fails miserably because Makoto's exhaustion is unfortunately a bigger issue that 100% bleeds into other facets in his life. Case in point, the poor poor shower drain. I believe that thing gets clogged an abhorrent amount of times. These three gotta have some fumbles in their overworked lives after all, Kyoko with detective work and helping Makoto out on his shit, Byakuya working on rebuilding the economy. Also Makoto being the Ultimate Hope in general. Stuff like that. Completely understandable on their ends. Another thing of note is that I like to believe they all are inexperienced in their own rights, Makoto having the most experience. Not that it's a big bragging point or anything. The most he's got going is like having a crush at some point in life, getting a kiss randomly from a girl when he was in middle school, and maybe some shenanigans at Hopes Peak which he probably doesn't even remember cus of the dang memory wipe. But yeah. I like to think these three have their own shortcomings in their relationship, no matter what angle said relationship is looked at. Cus these three are strange. Back on the drain though, the plus side is that Byakuya's hair is the only one less likely to clog a drain so at least the poor thing isn't in constant agony. The blonde also totally blames Kyoko and Makoto for their plumbing problems. Not to say that his hair wouldn't cause issues when grown out (long haired byakuya supremacy moment hehe). However, Byakuya's a complainer through and through. No way is he going to just not obnoxiously sigh when he sees the specific brown and lavender hair slightly poking out of the drain. Besides, this man needs to be forced to do some manual labor. Make him do dishes and fumble his way through doing the laundry, completely confused on what any of the dials and buttons do. Make him unclog that shit outta that drain! Hell, have him with a drain unclogging montage with the Rocky music and everything! At the same time, my brain is also thinking of Your the Best Around blaring with the montage, Byakuya with big ass rubber gloves, kneeling on the ground, constantly working at it with that drain. Maybe him at a computer, hands on his temple as he stares at his bank account and what he has to do with it. Cus of course he's gonna complain about THAT too even though he's rich. Like, damn it! He should be doing more efficient things than this commoner cleaning shit! Byakuya needs to get humbled though, even if it's 10 or 30 or 50 years in the future.

Alleviating Food Hunger and Reducing Food Waste with Innovation.
“Food waste is this massive and very overwhelming challenge, but itʼs actually something that every single one of us can start to address in our own homes,” Shukla says, noting how shocked she was when she first learned how much of the worldʼs food supply spoils on a daily basis.
“The worldʼs farmers actually grow enough food to feed everyone on the planet, but over 800 million people still go hungry every single day.” While the food waste challenge is daunting, she also sees it as an opportunity to prove how small innovations can make a big difference. Her journey started early and is a story of simple beginnings and empowerment. When visiting her grandmother in India as a 12-year-old, Shukla drank water believed to be contaminated, but thanks to her grandmotherʼs homemade remedy, she didnʼt get sick. She was intrigued and began studying her grandmotherʼs remedy, and was able to figure out why it worked and how to replicate and advance its effects. She now uses this knowledge to prevent food spoilage and relieve hunger around the world. Shukla holds four US patents and an Index Design to Improve Life award, a leading international prize for design. Her product is used by farmers and families across the globe, and Freshglow has also partnered with retailers such as Whole Foods and Walmart.

OH MY GOD THIS IS ONE OF MY PERSONAL BATTLES
I live in a small town in southeast Georgia. I say Jacksonville all the time cause we're always fuckin down there but truthfully the Ditch is in Georgia.
And our town has a dirty little secret: we have four Superfund sites.
Now if you're not in the know, you might not know what that is. A Superfund site is a location designated by the US government where there has been severe contamination by toxic industrial waste. The idea is that the polluter pays the cleanup fees and site maintenance, and anything they can't pay comes from a trust called the Superfund, managed by the EPA. In the 80s this was funded by excise taxes on oil companies and other industrial polluters, but in 1995, Congress didn't renew that tax and now of course it's shouldered by you, the taxpayer.
The thing is that companies are notorious for just disappearing and restructuring to avoid this. A local company lost hundreds of barrels of liquid mercury here in town, said they were doing a cleanup operation, and restructured in the middle of it. The "new" company was like "yeah actually we have no record of where *any* of that mercury is."
Another company in town used to process pine oil for industrial stuff like cleaners. When the company downsized their lot in the 70s due to an accident, they sold the parts they weren't going to use. Public housing was built on top of them and it's not communicated to the section 8 folks who get housed there. That whole side of town also has a higher historical rate of uterine cancer than the rest of the county.
Still a third location, that used to be an actual toxic waste landfill, is actually in what's now the commercial center of the town, near where the Walmart is. They fenced off the waste disposal field and put up a "no trespassing keep out" sign, but it doesn't inform the neighborhood right next to it what you're keeping out of. Eventually they put a hill on top of part of the site and sold it, and built a car dealership on top of it, I'm sure that's healthy for the employees.
The fourth is out in the salt marsh, where it's wreaked untold environmental damage. The effects are still being studied and everyone who's outdoorsy here knows not to eat the fish in Turtle River.
Corporations are almost never held accountable for the ways in which they destroy our land, and often it's at your expense. Please do research on your city and what kind of stuff they're keeping from you because a company paid them to.
call me a dirty communist radical but I think everyone should know if they live near toxic waste
#anti capitalism#local politics#us politics#we've been entirely sold out to the corporate sector#healthcare and the environment and access to food#it's all gotta come down

New Au drop? This literally came to me before I slept.
Basically, the idea is like, the canon of Danganronpa THH but years and years later. The world is relatively fixed again and all seems okay once more. Of course, the world never truly becomes the same. Tragedy. Plus, there could still be small remains of the Remnants of Despair lurking around too. But, anyway, the main cast in this would be in their mid-to late 20s at this point and Hiro being a bit older since he's the oldest one in the group. This idea is mostly centered around Makoto, Kyoko, and Byakuya though Toko, Syo, Hina, and Hiro can also be involved. Plot goes something like this: Makoto now is a well known and influential figure in Japan as well as the world since he's the Ultimate Hope. He's no Prime Minister of Japan but he's still highly important. Kyoko works as his right hand woman of course though she still does detective work cus there's no way she's leaving that field. Meanwhile, Byakuya's doing his heir stuff and ensuring the economy doesn't plummet. However, after, let's say some sort of live-broadcast meeting with the Prime Minister occurs or maybe Makoto was doing a seminar and he ends up collapsing on stage. This then leads to some public outcry. Main realization's that Makoto's been working his ass of and the signs of him having a public health scare were there. Maybe then, some sorta petition is made like "Let this poor man rest, damn it" At the same time, Kyoko and Byakuya are also having issues as well. Like, people who are still alive who know them notice that they look dead at times or just tired. Thus, they look at the movement rising and are like "Yeah. You two are taking a holiday". I mean, every since the killing game, these guys have being doing this and that and so much other stuff that can be too much for anyone! Then, this could lead to a story of Kyoko, Makoto, and Byakuya fully reflecting on everything in their lives while also living together as a support unit. Was thinking the reason for this is that Makoto and Kyoko are close and they already had living arrangements together. Maybe the two also have sleeping issues so they live together to help with that. As for Byakuya living with them, maybe he started visiting Kyoko and Makoto before it slowly became him just living there. Or, maybe Byakuya at this point of his life at least lives in a smaller house or mansion. Perhaps overly big ones remind him of all of his family minus his butler being dead. Thus, smaller mansion. Maybe his staff though is like "How about you go to another place for your holiday" and basically kick him out (nicely of course) so he doesn't end up working instead of resting for a change. By now, the world doesn't need to rely on killing game survivors as much anymore. Other people out there have had that time to reflect and, though there is still of that "public figure worship" stuff, it's not as egregious. Like, the realization came that the fact that the Ultimate's where treated as these higher beings isn't the best thing after all the world's went through. The other survivors can of course appear too like what Toko and Komaru are doing now since they aren't out there fighting Monokuma units anymore, how Syo is doing now as a former serial killer, how Hina's holding up and coping with both the loss of Sakura and the more recent loss of her younger brother Yuta or if Hiro finally got his debt paid! Also, I feel they all live relatively close to one another. Like, they all just aren't comfortable attempting to separate due to all that they've dealt with. So, they all don't take like plane trips to visit each other. Basically, this is like a slice of life after things have cooled down. If someone out there who's way better a writing this kinda stuff wants to take a crack at it, go right ahead! Can add to it and really make this idea shine. I don't really plan to make fanfiction at the moment. Don't have an AO3 or anything nor do I have the time to start at the moment. My only attempt of fanfiction was an unfinished work sooo... yeah I feel this idea has promise though!
