Tumblr media
Heyyy @seeking-elsewhither. You know how I'm giving you a HFSW Bad Batcher a day until you stop being sick. Well since I missed it yesterday,,, and you need your guys,,, well I went to draw Tech and things got. Out of hand
Closeups and notes under the cut
Tumblr media
Goggles
You do not know how hard Tech's hair is to get right
So! His goggles I actually struggled over for months and months because, you know. They're hard to draw. And then I found these on Pinterest and all my problems were solved forever. (SERIOUSLY THOUGH I WANT THESE. I MEAN LOOKIT THEM THEY EVEN HAVE THE IMPERIAL INSIGNIA ON THE LENSES)
Now obviously my drawing skills mean I have to scale these down immensely but as you can see. These are not your everyday, run-of-the-mill goggles. Tech built them himself (actually most of his armor was either custom-built or modified) and so they've got some special features built in.
So Tech's an artificier, cause it's High Fantasy Star Wars, and they don't have computers but they sure as heck do have alchemy. One of his modifications is the addition of little lights mounted to the barrels of his lenses, for working at night/in low light, or with materials that need to be illuminated to function properly. The other main addition happens to be the extra magnification lenses mounted to his left lens barrel. He can adjust these as needed when working.
Tumblr media
Upper Body Armor
Bro really went ☝ (you know i had to do it to him)
Okay so in the absence of his datapad he carries around his journal. That he is constantly writing in. It also has a panel on the front cover in which he can store some of his vials, because I think that's cool and it's my AU and I Can Do What I Want.
In fact, his writing in his journal is so frequent that he actually has a pen holder mounted to his left pauldron, so when he needs to take a note of anything he can just reach over and lo and behold there it is. (He's also the in-universe inventor of pre-filled fountain pens, because it's too much of a hassle to pull out a quill and a bottle of ink any time he needs to write in the middle of the field.)
His upper arm "armor" actually consists of little bags he keeps various things in, including a bottle of ink for when he needs to refill his fountain pen. Other trinkets include small amounts of alchemical ingredients and small personal trinkets (including, after his ID ring is removed, the chains it was kept on. side side note but while the clones who had their rings removed destroyed the rings themselves, they kept the chains because of the symbolism of brotherhood they carried. a lot of them reworked them back into a single loop and wore them around their necks, like they did when they were cadets.).
And then of course there is the Backpack of Many Things (tm) in which he keeps his many things, including but not limited to: alchemical bottles (both full and empty), bags and boxes and tubes of alchemical ingredients (he has an organizational system), backup journals (for when his current journal fills up, currently he has somewhere around twenty-seven full journals and he's been keeping them consistently since he was at least four-eight), medical supplies (common sense), non-perishable food items (also common sense), a waterskin and several empty extras (also ALSO common sense), his wallet (also also ALSO common sense), and his work instruments (knives, mortar and pestle, stoppers, eyedroppers, stirring sticks, measuring cups, et cetera et cetera).
Tumblr media
Right Gauntlet Closeup
On his right arm, Tech wears a special leather gauntlet (as opposed to the metal bracer on his left arm) that, surprise surprise, also carries Things (tm).
He's got a little box (in which to keep miscellanea) that also functions as a holder for- you guessed it- more alchemical vials.
There's also a watch that double-functions as a thermometer and lunar calendar (there's a second face under the clock that has the thermometer, and the lunar calendar you see through a little cut-out window towards the bottom; it's got a little picture of the current phase of the moon in it).
This gauntlet doesn't have any heavy-duty finger armor on it cause he needs dexterous use of his dominant fingers. Also, it was the hand he wore his ID ring on, and with how bulky and complicated that gauntlet is, it was uncomfortable to have any major obstructions to the phlanges there.
Tumblr media
Lower Body Armor
Featuring a full view of his cuirass! It... is in very low definition cause this is a small doodle mainly focusing on the legs XD
Okay so on his belt he has larger bottles full of chemicals that would need to be used often and reached quickly. It's not shown here but he does also have a book holster in which he keeps his journal for easy access.
Then there's his leather overskirt, which he wears to kind of cushion his bottles and book holster so they're not constantly chafing against his legs. It also serves as his upper-leg protection in place of full-leg greaves, and especially as a precaution in case any of his bottles ever shatter (protection against both whatever's in the bottle AND broken glass).
He does wear padded knee armor, since, you know, he's gotta kneel down a lot to study stuff and he needs to prevent early-onset knee damage XD
Finally, his boots; they do have the heaviest protection of all his lower-body armor (steel toes and heels, and tough shin guards), but they also double as- surprise!- a place to Hold More Stuff. Yes, he even has little pouches on his legs. I swear he carries like, all of his material possessions with him. If it can't be on his person at all times then why would he own it? (This does not apply to the piano he built into one of the Marauder's walls; I'll talk about that when I make that post about Clones and Music.)
Tumblr media
Helmet
Okay so as you can see his helmet is unique because he actually had to design it himself. (Actually, all of Clone Force 99 have unique helmets, but Tech's is unique because it's not a historical style of helmet.) It's built in two separate pieces: a face plate, and a helm; this is so that, even when helmeted, he still has access to his goggles.
Other than that, it's pretty simple as far as helmets go. He did add the antennae just for funsies, but actually they're not really for funsies because he's Tech and everything he does has a Purpose (tm); they're incredibly sharp where they slot into the helmet and he can take them out as a secret weapon in life-or-death situations.
The other big thing is that the cheek guards of his helm are sculpted to look like Tern wings; Clone Force 99 are all Commandos, and as stated previously, Commandos are denoted by the fact that their helmets have wings mounted to them. Of the Batch, only Hunter and Cross have *actual* wings on their helms, but Tech and Wrecker still have the wing motif. (If you want to see the process behind this, and also what bird every Batcher claims, Evie and I had a long talk about it a few months ago, which I will link here. you may have to go into the notes to read the tags to get the complete picture but i assure you it's all there)

Few headcanons for TPOF RtP AU Mason and Assistant!MC:
On the first day of work, Mason fed you his food and asked for opinions on the taste (Too chewy? Too salty? Did he put too much spice, and now the natural sweetness of the meat disappeared?)
Puts you in charge of cameras and techs, and might let you teach him how to operate them
He would make you learn how to spot animals in the forest near his cottage, and he'd hunt them down
Derek and Celia hang around him so much whenever Mason visits the headquarters, rambling around their days while asking you how he's been doing in the depths of the forest
Opposite to Derek and Celia, who have overworking tendencies, Mason is very laidback in his work, mostly hunting, eating, and taking care of his crops in his backyard
Mason also has an office in the headquarters, mostly consisting of mounted heads of animals that he'd hunted in the past and some skulls that you don't dare ask him if they're real or fake
He also has piles of recipe books, ranging from campire food to non-western food, each has strips of labels on some of the pages written "Ingredients affordable", "Derek approved", "Celia approved", "Need modification", et cetera
Weirdly enough, he can identify people based on their steps and breathing alone. He identified Derek and Celia easily when they were waiting behind the office door or approaching him from behind
But the CEO is the one that he couldn't figure out with full certainty because "It's like he shares a body with someone else."
He pats a lot. From Derek and Celia to the CEO, he pats people in the head whenever he met them. That also includes you
Very huggable, but if you're lucky to get his permission to hug him. He's like a walking heater with smell of smoked meat and campfire

"Fun" watching the creative professions experience the violence of capitalism and immediately turn on tech workers/hobbyists like vengeful hounds as if they are not also workers.
"Fun" watching people who are reliant on the fruits of an industrialised society discover for the first time that the ladder of progress that gave us that society has been runged by an iterative process of capital-holders discarding the welfare of the previous generation of workers, and decide that the problem is industrial progress itself rather than that system of power and inequality.
"Fun" watching people in creative professions experience this for the first time and rehash tired discourse that society was doing in the 1700s, because while it is of course natural and necessary to mechanise food production, manufacturing, medicine et al., redundancies within the arts are a novel threat to the soul of humanity, because they are doing Art instead of silly manual labour busywork.
"Fun" seeing people decide that, rather than the iterative development and deployment of new technologies and tools having been a human constant for millennia that has allowed us to reduce scarcity and hard labour, to bolster happiness and health, the violence of the ruling class means that that process has to be stopped, by violence if necessary. That whole industries should be burned to the stake to protect the status quo, the comfortable version of capitalism where they are not being personally crushed, but can peacefully rest atop the bodies of those crushed before them.
The idea that the creation of new tools is a fundamental human trait and a net good, and that the target of their ire should be the wealth-hoarders that use it as an excuse to enact the violence of capital holding? That the violence is at the hands of these ruling classes, in their stockpiling of resources that diverts them away from improving lives, rather than those of tech researchers and hobbyists online? This is not considered.
Fight the right damn enemy.

ETS WIP Chapter 16: End Script
[first]|[more]
As the last of the worms was killed and banished into their home plane, the last person that Lyta wanted to see was Ji.
"I was surprised you chose me of all people," the thin, but stupidly hot, Exterminator said.
"Yeah, well," Lyta said without thinking, she felt like she had to response and the filler words were the first thing she spoke into existence. She was still trying to reign back her anger, to keep it under control and not say something stupid or mean or callous. Now was not the time. She took a breath. "You're an asshole but you're still one of the best Exterminators we have so it wasn't really even a question. Besides I still know your employee ID number so it was easier for me to look you up."
Not entirely without anger, but sometimes it just is like that.
Ji shrugged. "Well, I never got to see you really fight like that so... if you ever want to transfer over to the Exterminators give me a call. We could go for a drink or something."
Lyta briefly caught Aeth's eye from across the hallowed field of servers and graveyard of worms and phones.
"I'm good where I'm at."
Aeth, meanwhile, was being interrogated, or rather very harshly questioned, by two members of the Catalog and Archive Bureau.
"You unleashed a god upon tech support," said the one that was not tall. "You stole an unrestrained small god that was supposed to be closely monitored and let it loose within one of the most complex systems in the world."
"Yes," Aeth said. "It was necessary."
"We will be the judges of that," said the one that was not short. "This is going to have ramifications."
Aeth nodded. "And letting the Abyss go unchecked would have been much worse. A thing that you were supposed to deal with, but were... indisposed."
Lyta had walked over by this point and cut off the agent that was about to speak, "Not to mention your Bureau is responsible for letting a sentient nightmare out that almost consumed my friend whole. So should you really be casting blame."
The one who was not tall sputtered a little bit before he answered. "We were not informed."
"Oh, funny that. You can go clean up the corpse of 3812-B in my friend's apartment. When you figured out how the thing that was supposed to be monitored 24/7 managed to get out, almost complete the goal for which it spawned, and you still didn't know about it, then we can discuss the ramifications of the thing that saved us all."
"You'll be hearing from us," the one that was not short said angrily.
"I'm sure we will," Lyta snapped back. "But until then fuck off back to the file cabinet."
Aeth heaved a sigh of relief as the agents stomped away. "Thanks. For everything."
Lyta smiled up at Aeth. A warm, but tired smile. "Any time. Can we get out of here? I need a shower, food, and probably a call to a repairman and my landlord to fix my apartment."
"Before you go," came a voice from one of the servers. Out of an unused port, came the representation of the new God of Tech Support.
"What can we do for you?" Aeth asked.
"I owe you two more than I can say," Sir Lance Corporal said. "I am now more than I ever was. I feel like I am myself and I have a purpose. I thank you humbly for your efforts in this event. I hope we shall work together again soon."
The pair just nodded.
Then, just in Aeth's mind, came the voice of the god, "Thank you for your faith, as well. It sustains me and gives me the strength to continue."
Aeth nodded and replied in prayer. "It was nothing. Easy to believe in something good. I'm sure Lyta feels the same."
There was a soft sound of a server next to Aeth that sounded almost like a chuckle.
"Lyta does not, and that is fine. She believes so much, in you. That is enough for me, I hope it is enough for you."
Aeth wasn't entirely sure how to respond.
"Go, get some rest you two. There will be work to be done when you return," the god of tech support said.
"Ok, thanks," Lyta said. She turned to Aeth. "I have an idea, it may be a dumb one, but it's all I've got right now. Let's get a hotel room, shower, give our clothes to the pros to clean, eat some room service while we hang out in fluffy robes, and then just... sleep."
"It sounds great."
"My apartment is probably covered in like three inches of snow melt."
"And I'm sure the Catalog people are combing over my place looking for 3812-B."
"Which will be easy to find, right?"
"I hope so."
As the pair walked off, somewhat hesitantly, Aeth put their arm around Lyta's shoulder. Lyta immediately warmed to the touch and moved closer to them.
Sir Lance Corporal made sure to tell the hotel to only offer them rooms with a single bed.
if you liked these maybe considering leaving me a tip on kofi

Something about splatoon worldbuilding that I think about a lot is how mixed-species areas would accommodate for how unique each species is from each other, like I imagine with certain restaurants an inkfish that breaks their food into smaller pieces wouldn't enjoy the same foods as a fish who swallows their food whole and the body types vary so much that I feel like there's only so many space for species specific sections for clothes at stores.. I think the only thing I'm sure of is that the main form of transportation would probably be by train because out of every other option I can think of it's the best suited for size differences. Also if they don't use cars or roads it could mean more room for walking=more room for the different sized species to fit. Like zootopia but to the extreme because it's not just fish or something
We barely see ANY of it in the games but this is very true, the differences in biology, size, body functions and a bunch of other things are really insane in splatoon. Probably the most obvious case of accommodating other species, in this instance larger species, are the huge doors in the Deepsea Metro. But other than that we haven't seen a whole lot of architecture or accommodations for species with no hands or fingers, or no arms, or no legs, or no eyes, et cetera. All of those exist and are supposedly quite common.
One thing that makes me crack up is that i'm pretty sure it said somewhere that the new escalators and renewed train station in Inkopolis Plaza were at least partially put there to make it more accessible to people with disabilities, and I think I remember there being an elevator, down to the platform, but... they still only have escalators down to Inkopolis Plaza from there. Like, are you going to take a wheelchair on the escalator? And even aside from a wheelchair there's probably a lot of species that can't work with an escalator for other reasons. One of the reasons being that the escalators are SO NARROW that basically anything larger than the average teenage inkling wouldn't even fit in it. Bro, Mr. Coco could pick up this thing with 1 claw
i kinda went on a tangent there but basically a lot of the architecture is obviously HEAVILY inkling-centric, given that squids make up the vast majority of the population in Inkopolis. I would really like to see more architecture, city- and tech design that takes into accounts the needs and limitations of other species. Like, have you ever thought about how on EARTH an Octostriker could navigate a city layout or like, LIVE somewhere? They probably have some kind of solution for that in the Octarian domes but if you take an average human-type city and work with that, it's just not happening.

Blog About the advertisements during the pandemic
This advertisement was made by a telecommunication company explicitly, the Globe Philippines, and was aired during the pandemic on April 17, 2020. This ad is about encouraging everyone to distance themselves from other people, even their parents, families, and loved ones that are not currently on their side. It serves as a reminder for them to stay at home to prevent the COVID-19 virus from spreading and avoid being affected. Thus, as an alternative, the corporation offers telecommunication services for individuals to stay connected with their friends and families through chatting and video calling on any social media platform. This ad was intended for the people who live in the Philippines, particularly fellow Filipinos. The services promoted in this particular field of advertisement are a great idea, especially in the pandemic setup. People can do a  lot of things just by having access to the internet.  According to McClain et al. (2021), 90 percent of adults agreed that the Internet had become essential for them in the midst of the pandemic. Aside from assisting in preserving relationships, some individuals also acquired hobbies and skills. On the other hand, the ad itself has good quality, especially in delivering its tag lines.  Hence, it does not contain any media manipulation as it hooks the audience's attention.
As one of the target viewers, I get caught by one of their tag lines at the end of the advertisement, saying, “ Pero dyan ka muna, at dito muna ako. Magkalayo, kasi close tayo”.  I immediately understood the meaning behind those words, especially when I first heard them. Ever since the pandemic started, people have been restricted from leaving out of their houses, especially if it is not necessary or there is nothing important things to do except for buying grocery foods but only for a  limited time. In relation to this, those lines were meant to convey an awareness that following the health and safety protocols is for everyone’s good.

While browsing the internet, I came across this unique advertisement that was created by a famous technology company called Uber. It was founded on March 2009 by Travis Kalanick and  Garrett Camp. Uber offers different services, such as ride-hailing and food delivery (Tillman, 2016). This ad was posted on youtube on April 9, 2020, and has 491,498 views. It showed some clips of families who are trying to have their ways of communicating with their loved ones inside and outside of their homes. These are enjoying their quality time by playing with their babies, exercising, and checking up with neighbors by showing a letter in the windows. This advertisement was all about expressing gratitude for not using their services at the time pandemic. It is also a form of reminding everyone to avoid using services or anything that will allow them to have exposure or contact with others. The target audience was everyone who was previously using Uber.  Based on the comments on the ad, the users were shocked and amazed at the same time. One of them stated that the company is very bold and considerate due to its way of advertising. People would not be able to determine if it is an ad or just a way of reminding them. On the other hand, since it has the message “ Thank you for not riding with us,” still it is necessarily good for them. Moreover, it only represented pure clips of families’ activities inside homes and did not contain storylines that may form a media manipulation.
As one of the viewers, it got my attention due to their unique advertising, specifically the tag lines they used. It seems they have two goals, and they achieve both of them. On the other hand, watching the advertisement had me reminiscing about my pandemic days, specifically wherein I  was stuck and had nothing to do. However, I have realized what the ad showed is what I did on those days. I have built a strong relationship with my parents, especially with my closest friends, considering that it was also one of the toughest times I had in my entire life.

being poor in America is just like
I did exactly what adults told me to do, I did it how they told me to do it, I followed their exact advice for how to succeed in this country. And I failed. I keep failing.
my teachers, my parents, everybody, told me “all you have to do to succeed in America is get a college degree in anything except English or History and you will succeed. Know how to write a cover letter and a resume, have excellent grammatical and spelling skills, especially in writing. Be polite and sit up straight. Look people in the eye when you greet them. Smile, firm handshake. Get good grades in college and do extracurricular activities that you can put on your resume. Do that, et voila, success will come to you.”
sooo I did all that.
Except, hey, turns out.
That advice was a recipe for success in the 1980s, aka about the last time any one of those adults had needed to find a job. Not a single adult ever said to me “Hey, tech and bioscience and computer programming and IT are the future, and soon will be the only skill sets society values at all in an employee. networking and knowing the “right people” will be the only true ways to lucrative employment. how do you meet the right people? by networking. how do you network? by knowing the right people, of course.” which is of course really just to say that the rich look after their own and only their own, but NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THAT!!!!
i was a little shit as a kid, but i WOULD HAVE LISTENED. i did exactly what all the authority figures in my life told me to do. and it was garbage advice, all of it. no one prepared me for adulthood. my parents actively pulled the rug out from under me by both kicking me out at 18 and then letting me begrudgingly live in their basement or their storage room when my bedroom was literally just a junk room for my mom’s hoarding habit and making me pay rent and buy my own food on a minimum wage job and wouldn’t even pay for me to go to drivers ed and then bitched about how I lived in their house and didn’t drive and didn’t have a car but only bc they wouldn’t send me to drivers ed or teach me to drive at all and they also mocked me for not being able to drive and having to walk everywhere but didn’t have an answer for why they wouldn’t help me either and they knew i couldn’t afford it with the fucking pennies i was making working at a fucking gas station

Where’s your [1221] Amor and what is it doing? Find out for free at astro dot com, under extended charts, by entering your birthdate and the asteroid numbers in the box at the bottom. This site works easier on a tablet, ipad or other computer, as it isn’t optimized for mobile.

My Amor is exactly conjunct [4197] Morpheus & [89] Julia to the degree in Capricorn, trine [1198] Atlantis, Sun, [390] Alma, [91] Aegina, Arabic Lot Merchandise I in Virgo & Chiron in Taurus, square [1388] Aphrodite [3600], [11] Parthenope, [16367] Astronomiasvecia, [h13] True / Oscillating Black Moon Lilith, [433] Eros, [h12] Mean Black Moon Lilith and Arabic Lot Bankruptcy (I), and opposition Ceres in Cancer.
Pure, idealistic, unconditional, faithful love that can turn self-sacrificing due to limiting belief systems. I was able to change the form of my actions through abstract exploration and divine intervention.
My belief system had been limited, when I believed that men were able to be trustworthy in a romance with me. I sacrificed my energy because I thought that I had to love unconditionally.
Deeply spiritual inner knowingness along with balanced ego power, as regards ancient civilization, ET's, new age groups, psychic abilities, abuse of tech., interest in Astrology, occult knowledge, etc. Prosperity in mediation. Highly protected from things like scammy sales within the new age. Harmony within healing of core wound.
This is a big one for me as it involves my Virgo Sun, and is in my 6th house of overall health and everyday routines. I tend to easily see through new age scams and cults, and without letting my ego get in the way, I'm able to help others heal from their harmful belief systems.
Ease of helping others to heal themselves with the knowledge acquired through my own self-healing, with unconventional attitudes and behaviours being more easily accepted; feeling love no matter who others are. Ease of masculine "fatherly" type love is available from within and without. Tolerance and appreciation of uniqueness. Able to make exceptions towards reconciling differences and inner rebellions.
Massively tense issues of duality within repression and the desire for feminine rebellion, particularly in one-on-one interactions. Conditions and acceptance are based on issues of sex / gender.
Opposites attracting, tested on what should be accepted in the name of love & centred on growing things. Repeated relationship experiences which are different and frustrating by hard aspect, as the partner has a different idea of what love is. This happens within "mother / child" dynamic where there is vindictiveness or someone has a sense of nurturing being inadequate. Issues involve food and digestion. Resistance forces looking again to find resolution. Making compromises in perception of what we think has to happen before being able to offer acceptance of the self and others.

Shadowfax raises $100 million in latest funding led by TPG New Quest
Tumblr media
Hyperlocal logistics startup Shadowfax has raised $100 million in a mix of primary and secondary investments as part of its latest funding round led by growth investor TPG NewQuest.
Existing investors including Mirae Asset Management, Flipkart, International Finance Corporation, Nokia Growth Partners, Qualcomm, and Trifecta Capital also participated in the fundraise. The round also includes an element of venture debt.
Shadowfax’s latest round comprises a primary raise of $50 million, with the secondary portion and venture debt standing at $30 million and $20 million respectively, cofounder and chief executive Abhishek Bansal told ET.
Early backer Eight Roads Ventures, which first invested in the company in 2015, has made a partial exit as part of the transaction.
The company said it will utilise the proceeds to extend its last-mile delivery services to cover 20,000 pincodes across India.
Part of the raised funds will be used to develop value-added services for direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands and further enhance Shadowfax’s express deliver network, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
ET had first reported on September 5, 2022 that the startup was in talks to raise $75-$100 million in a mix of primary and secondary capital, with Eight Roads expected to see a partial exit.
“We have been running profitably and will look to build newer solutions with the capital. Customers are looking at speed-oriented solutions today and 4–5 day commerce will not survive. As we look to build next-generation speed solutions for brands, we may look at inorganic ways of growth,” said Bansal.
Founded in 2015 by IIT Delhi alumni Bansal, Vaibhav Khandelwal, Praharsh Chandra, and Gaurav Jaithliya, Shadowfax has transitioned to serving e-commerce clientele such as Meesho, from initially being an on-demand logistics provider for food-delivery platforms.
The platform claims to be delivering 2 million packages daily, through its network of 125,000 monthly active delivery partners.
“We have been impressed with the tech stack they (Shadowfax) have built. This helps with the delivery of superior service metrics and allows them to quickly adapt their services to client’s changing needs at the lowest price,” said Amit Gupta, partner and head of India and Southeast Asia, TPG NewQuest.
Shadowfax’s claims to have clocked three consecutive quarters of EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) profitability in the current financial year from April to December 2023.
The company is looking to close FY24 as its first full financial year of positive EBITDA (after accounting for ESOP costs).

I work as a writer in various writing styles: fiction, articles, thought leadership pieces, and I provide reader reports, as well as ghostwriting, editing, and proofreading services. Sometimes, because I can't help it, I write things where I ask questions like: the world that Tesla, Apple, and Microsoft run—what does it look like?
Do you think Apple cares about its role in the Congo? Do you think Tesla or Microsoft care who dies for their tech? When *you upgrade your devices after 6 months so people "know about you," do you care about the cost in human labor, human life?
Our progress as a species relies on exploited labor. We know that capitalism requires this. I know several people who have gone vegan because "the poor cows and chickens," who would be highly confused if you asked them to apply that same logic to tech upgrades. Suddenly, their actions make no impact. "Even if I wait, it won't change anything." Right, Karen. But you giving up meat will change the world? Just say you care more about animals than Africans and go.
We know who is behind Congo and its struggles (yes, France, Apple, et al., I'm looking at you). Entire communities are enslaved to meet shareholder profit expectations (yes, the money is the point) while we view these atrocities as a necessary cost of business. Necessary?!
There is SO MUCH (manufactured) excitement for tech advances that sometimes I wonder if there's a Kool-aid jug doing the rounds that everyone is drinking from, because why are we so gung-ho for more of these things that we already know are anti-human?! The only reason Apple/Samsung etc. put out an upgrade every other year (apart from built-in obsolescence) is because we're too dumb to advocate for ourselves.
It's not just smart devices and smart homes—look at what tech has done to agriculture. It has decimated African food independence, and created or worsened droughts and famine, but all we hear is how AI will enhance food security. You don't know this because you're a 21st century troglodyte and "technology, good!"—is the extent of your engagement. The Amazon Basin is disappearing before our very eyes, the ocean is choking on plastic and microplastics, Bayer says they own every seed in the world so you can't grow food without their permission (I could be exaggerating), and Bill Gates is buying up all the land (you think he won't?). All you can say is "Yay, ChatGPT can write all my emails." Wow.
I said once, as I often do, that capitalism will kill us all. Someone responded "We don't live under capitalism, we live in a global corporatocracy." They were not wrong. Money talks and it seems all it can say to Africa is *middle finger*. If you disagree, explain Congo. Explain Marikana. I'll wait.
I'm a writer who is sleep-deprived because stuff like this keeps me up at night (yes I am neurodivergent, if you're wondering). Hire me so I can stay up writing instead of catastrophizing and letting intrusive thoughts win.
Hey authors! Let’s get to know each other :)
Why do you write?

Série de Mediapart "Les larves : des recettes qui font mouche ?"
See on Scoop.it - Insect Archive
