I just read that in Typhlosion myth everybody seems to be talking about. It was quite interesting, and I do love reading old folklore. However, one thing that struck to me was the ending.
"That's how people found out.
"Bakufun (Typhlosion) is half human."
This was written at a time when knowledge of pokemon was very limited, and it's safe to assume that people back then thought that Typhlosion might've been part human, part pokemon. It makes sense. Typhlosion has very human eyes, is the same height as a human, and sometimes walks on its hind legs. The story could've been written to explain how that happened.
It wouldn't be the first time we've heard stories like this. Kadabra once being human is a more recent one, but that's obviously false. There's also plenty of myths of Zorark (both Unovan and Hisuian) transforming into beautiful women to seduce men. But, I guess more people are shocked to hear this due to it being a very well-known pokemon.

The saddest thing about the Pokémon leaks is the evident ignorance of folklore among fans. Sorry to tell you this western gamers, but your ancestors married seal women, were seduced by swans, and fucked half-divine giants. You just don’t remember.

I had this great realisation that Sneasel sounds mad close to ‚weasel‘ and whoops I went deep into the Japanese folklore of the Kamaitachi, which are lightning fast blade wielding weasels who cut your legs in cold climates.
There‘s a great 16 min youtube podcast that explains the folklore far better. Go show them some love!

I don't want to act like a snob, but, y'all... really don't read old fairy tales or mythology, do you...? You only know the sanitized, bloodless Disney versions? People get cut to pieces (Cinderella/Ashputtel, The Red Shoes), women are abducted to be wives (an upsetting practice that continued until very recently, still practiced in some countries today—horrible, but part of life that found its way into stories, like The Seal's Skin), and magical talking animal husbands / wives (The Crane's Return of a Favour; East of the Sun, West of the Moon, etc.) abound in old mythology. Kids have been raised hearing these stories and not thinking about sex for centuries...
Humans marrying Pokemon in the ancient past was frankly stated in the Japanese version of DPPt. The English version rightly assumed English-speaking fans won't take it and reworded it from used to marry to used to eat at the same table (some euphemism!)

The Typhlosion story is no different from western stories like East of the Sun, West of the Moon (the way she was advised not to look at him reminded me of that) or The Seal's Skin (selkies cannot transform and return to the sea without their pelts—the abducted wife leaves her half-human child on land, escaping with her pelt when she finds it... the half-human, half-Pokemon children are bullied by their pelts being thrown on them to transform them against their will for cruel human amusement..)
The bloody myth about the boy with the sword is Veilstone's myth, but told in detail, right down to the Pokemon exacting a toll from him for how he maimed and slew them for amusement.
A man unknowingly marries a transformed-into-human form Froslass he met once before in Pokemon Legends: Arceus and she flees when he finds out what she was... it's based on a tale about the yuki-onna, the folkloric snow woman Froslass is based on.

Don’t let the thumbnail fool you. This is the best response video (so far) to the all the fuss over the scrapped “teraleak” (hacked) Pokémon Myths. The entire Pokemon fandom (especially on Twitter) should watch this video.

Folklore Pokemon: Sāriknight
Sāriknight is a mythical pokemon that appear in many beliefs and folklore related to Arceus. They have the appearance of Gardevoir and Mega Gardevoir, but with differently shaped ears, completely green (sometimes yellow) eyes, lighter hair, and wings. They are said to be messengers of Arceus. While they originated in Hoenn of them being messengers of Rayquaza, beliefs of them soon spread around the world, and are now most commonly associated with the Arceus faith.

(Artwork of one in an old folklore book written in the late 1500s)
Their name comes from the word "Sār" meaning "princes" and "Sirknight," which is their Hoenn name. Legends state that these pokemon often give messages to humans through dreams or unown, with some sources even stating that they give prophecies using these methods. Despite their supposed strength, Sāriknight was stated to not be as strong as legendaries, but more powerful than the average mythical.

Koalmolt (Fire/Ground) is a helpful little Kobold who yearns for the mines. It has a Shovel for a tail and a little candle flame on its head that helps it light the way through dark caves.
Kobotage (Fire/Steel) is a mischievous older Kobold who if they can stay on task are very industrious workers but they can easily get distracted and like to mess around with things leading to accidents in the workplace
Grimlow (Ghost) is a shy wandering spirits that give off a ghostly light. They will often run away from people on sight prompting curious people to chase them and get lost.
Gheistro (Ghost) is no longer afraid of people but likes to appear before them in a sudden puff of Smoke and fire as well as performing other tricks to get a rise. It will sometimes hold a Grimlow on their head and pretend to be a human and then tear it off to make people scream.
Hallowyrm (Fire/Ghost) are a very rare pokemon who evolve from a Koalmolt and Grimlow in the party at max friendship but only at Night and in the Autumn leading up to Halloween. The Koalmolt and Grimlow in this pokemon are best friends who want to celebrate the Spooky Season together.

I wonder if my personal outrage at fairies in so many different froms of media being made out to be perfect, pure, cute, and harmless rather than dangerous beings not of this realm is connected to me wanting neurotypicals to leave me alone (through fear or respect if necessary, I don't care) rather than treat me like I am a cute little child that cannot understand anything and never will.
Autistic folks like myself used to be perceived as like changelings and such after all.

All of the people pissing and moaning about the Pokemon lore leaks obviously have never read a single mythology/folklore book. Like please pick up one of those or at least read the bible to realize this is how a lot of mythology and folklore are.
"The game devs are putting kinks and fetishises in Pokemon" My brother in christ do you not know what an allegory is???
