So I think I've worked out Johnny's story a little more now that I'm replaying New Vegas so I'm going to talk about him a little bit via disjointed bullet points. I'll hide it under the cut so I don't just yap on your dash because I don't want to annoy y'all with my brainrot too much (<- actually wants to give you brain worms about my blorbo but is too afraid to admit it)
He is about 24 years old
He had been in an up and coming raider gang prior to getting shot by Benny
The only reason he joined the Mojave Express was to get some money and exploit the recipients of packages for even more caps and cash. Karma definitely caught up with him
He doesn't remember much of his past but he has a gnawing gut feeling that tells him he will never be the person he once was. He's pretty sure that he's alright with that
He's soft spoken and a little shy but extremely violent. The type of guy you have to pull off a body after he's beaten it to a bloody pulp
He secretly wants to be a cowboy
His best friend would have to be Veronica. They bond over both feeling ostracized when he meets her on his way to New Vegas, and he becomes like a brother to her when she finally chooses to leave the Brotherhood for good
Arcade is his other best friend and one of his many unrequited crushes (others being Manny Vargas and Ralph). Arcade helps him understand that his past does not define him, and he helps Arcade realize that he can choose his own legacy
He prefers melee and unarmed attacks because guns are loud and he gets intense PTSD due to being shot by Benny. A sledgehammer to the face is something thst makes sense to him. A tiny piece of metal ending someone's entire existence? An absolutely horrifying prospect that he'd rather not entertain.
When he first travels through Nipton and encounters Vulpes, one of the younger recruits is tasked with following and keeping tabs on Johnny. Eventually, thanks to Arcade and Veronica, he realizes he's being stalked, but instead of becoming upset he ends up allowing himself to be manipulated by the recruit into getting into a relationship (toxic yaoi trope smh)
He eventually befriends Benny and they actually work together to restore independence to New Vegas. Benny considers him family and an honorary Chairman of the Tops
He is extremely afraid of mole rats, Vaults, incinerators, and travelling at night
His favorite song on Radio New Vegas is Johnny Guitar - it's also his namesake as he can't recall what his name was before being shot and that was the first song he heard upon waking up at Doc Mitchell's
He does get a bit of a happy ending in that he settles down on the outskirts of New Vegas on his own ranch and gets to be a cowboy. And he probably gets a stable relationship too. Haven't decided if I want to be that nice to him yet or not teehee
here, low res screenshot of him be upon ye:

I had half a mind to do a version with just Johnny but I forgot to keep the layers apart :v
Random sketch to which I added some contest. I liked the idea to portray Johnny's infamous evil smirk and make it show while taking over V's body (my V is a rockerboy of sorts).
Tumblr media
To add some more info, my "V" isn't actually v. I'm obsessed with my oc August I designed originally for fallout new vegas and played with him in cp77. This said, he goes by Gus rather than V. Everything else in game is pretty much the same.
For his background I simply made a fnv/cp77 crossover: the kings were nomads turned gang but with nomad ideals. There's no legion but I think the NCR and Mr.House would fit rather well (some sort of las vegas sixth road and generic corporation respectfully).

I’ve been messing around with Hero Forge since I saw that Deacon post yesterday and I’m about to make it everybody’s problem :D
Last one, promise!
From left to right -
Fallout 3 Johnnie Walker, nerd extraordinaire. There wasn’t a good approximation of the gun he has in FO3 so I gave him an alien blaster looking gun since he uses energy weapons.
My Fallout New Vegas courier Jim Beam with what Hero Forge told me was a grenade launcher. I only regret that I can’t equip him with the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion that he has in FNV in this medium.
And yet another Fallout 76 OC, lady raider Svedka, who I have played exactly once but I love her so I had to recreate her in Hero Forge :3
I have one more guy I made but idk if I’ll post him because technically he’s not one of my player characters from any of the Fallout games, he lives in my FO76 fanfic.

You've been visited by the random OC question fairy! :D ~☆
What’s the character’s self-esteem like? What events have affected their self-esteem in the past? Does it change throughout the story?
Thank you for the visit! You’re always welcome here.
I’ll be honest, most of my characters have very low or bad self-esteem. That probably explains something about me, but we don’t have time to unpack that.
It’s sort of understandable that Tracey has low self-esteem.  Before the war, she did have more, but watching your husband die in front of you is a real self-esteem killer. As she travels throughout the wastes, exploring and accomplishing things, she starts to regain that.
Antietam didn’t wake up with low self esteem. Rather, they sort of lost it over time. Originally, they thought pretty well of themselves-they were hard to kill. It isn’t that the wasteland wore them down, if anything exploring built up their confidence and made them a little foolhardy. It was the Big Empty, the Sierra Madre, and Benny that stole their self-esteem. The Big Empty and the Sierra Madre were places that stole their agency, that treated them inhummanely. At the Big Empty, their hair was cut. But Benny, Benny was different. Benny was foolishly human, just like them. Somewhere, that courier got it in their head to try and seduce him. And he rejected them. It was humiliating for the courier, but worse maybe was when they returned to Boone and Arcade, having to explain what they had tried and failed to do. The whole thing really destroyed their self confidence and made them believe they were probably unlovable.
Johnny Guitar doesn’t suffer from low self-esteem. He’s cocky, lovable, and he knows it too. It’s this confidence that allows him to try and concince legionaries he’s their father.

✅🔫 !!
✅ - What are their tagged skills?
Giordana’s tagged skills are Guns, Survival, and Sneak! As tough as she can be to take down in a fight, she’s more the prowling mountain lion type, stalking targets before taking them out with the element of surprise! And while Speech is one of her highest stats, and I did end up tagging it for that reason, that’s only for in-game play. It would be replaced with Survival due to her stubbornness and lacking positive social skills, if I could choose it!
In Hoagie and Johnny’s game, Fallout 4, “tagged” skills aren’t a thing anymore, but I can still tell what they would be!
Hoagie’s tagged skills would be Melee Weapons, Speech, and Explosives! Despite using the Spray N’ Pray rather liberally, he’s best known for launching into combat and beating enemies into submission! But as a pre-war reporter for the Boston Bugle, his older and better skill really is just... talking to people. And that's what people love and know him best for.
Johnny’s tagged skills would be Sneak, Speech, and Lockpick! From a pre-war actor to a post-war crime-fighting vigilante, there’s nobody who’s better at the “get in, stop the bad guy, and get out without a trace” strategy than he is! Which makes sense, seeing as he’s the Silver Shroud!
🔫 - Favourite Weapon?
Giordana’s favourite weapons are her handmade shotgun, Il Vecchio Bastardo, some Boxing Tape, the Combat Knife, and Paciencia! Paciencia is the only recent addition, however, as her preferred method of combat is “up close and personal.”
Hoagie’s preferred weapons are classics! The Spray N’ Pray and the Rockville Slugger! The harder it knocks down Raiders, the better! But there’s also just something satisfying about the spray of explosive ammo, or the metal clang of the slugger smacking someone upside the head. Home run!
And Johnny’s preferred weapon is the Silver Lining, above all else! It’s the Silver Shroud’s trademark weapon, something he just can’t work without! Sure, he can fight with his fists if need be, but the gun is an extension of himself, at this point.

Johnny is the type of person that when he sees any sort of animal that he wasn't expecting to encounter, he likes to go "Oh, hello Mr. Animal!". This is fine when it's just a tiny iguana but becomes something of a dire situation when his companions hear something along the lines of "hello, Miss puppy!" followed by the telltale sound of a Nightstalker's tail rattling.

Suoh: Hey Arcade would you like a nuka cola?
Arcade who is shivering: No but I'd like my fucking lab coat back
Suoh, slowly sipping a nuka cola while buttoning the lab coat: I have no idea what you are talking about.

3, 9, and 10? :3
3. What is something other than money that could make your character do something they otherwise wouldn’t want to do? What about something they otherwise really, really, really wouldn’t want to do?
Giordana can’t be bought for any price. But threatening someone she loves is the fastest way to blackmail her, which is why she avoided getting attached to anyone for such a long time (before Raul.)
Is it the easiest? Ohhhhh, no, there will always be retribution afterward for whoever decided to pull that kind of stunt. But it still works. Otherwise, she’s pretty ironclad.
Johnny’s also a fairly open-and-closed case! He’s more than willing to do things outside of his comfort zone for the lives of innocents, or just out of goodness to help those in need -- but the fastest, easiest way to push him is to threaten Goodneighbor or Kent. But again, it’s a “proceed at your own risk” kind of thing. He’s not nearly as vengeful as Giordana, but his memory is a lot better, so...
And outside of Shaun, Valentine, or anyone else he loves and cares about, Hoagie can’t be pushed into doing anything outside of his comfort zone!
9. Is there anything that anyone who knows better should avoid bringing up to your character (i.e., any conversational landmines)?
Bringing up Benny Gecko is a fast way to kill Giordana’s mood. Or any previous “failure” or shortcoming, whether she remembers it or not. Even if she manages to fix things up - and she always does - she doesn’t like thinking about her previous failures.
... Also insulting Mr. New Vegas or her vaquero husband are fast grounds for an ass-whooping.
Johnny can talk about the pre-war world as much as he likes, but he doesn’t like talking about his old love life. Especially not his late wife, Cindy, or his late pre-war ex-boyfriend, or how Hubris Comics fell apart. Or the alcoholism he recovered from. Or how Kent nearly died, or... honestly, someone needs to find him a therapist. There has to be one out in the Wasteland somewhere, right?
And as for Hoagie, you just don’t insult his mother, bring up the pre-war government or Eddie Winter. Period.
10. What is your character’s weapon of choice? Are they good in a fight, whether armed or not?
Giordana’s is Il Vecchio Bastardo, a shotgun of her own creation! It’s almost as old as she is - older, if you count all the parts she used - but it packs just as much of a punch as she does. But with or without her shotgun, Giordana’s the toughest in a fight out of the three, no contest.
Johnny’s is the Silver Lining, of course! The Shroud’s trademark! It’s his other arm, at this point, what with how closely he fights around it. He’s still good in unarmed combat, as any hero should be, but he’s deadliest with his signature.
And Hoagie’s are the Rockville Slugger, Deliverer, and Spray N’ Pray! Baseball grenades from afar, explosive Tommy-gun fire from mid-range, and an aluminum baseball bat swung point blank make him a threat at any range! And don’t think you’re safe once you disarm him, either! He might not be as scary in a fight as Giordana, or as professional as Johnny, but he takes a lot more to knock down than you think!

Haha btw I named my Vault Dweller Johnnie Walker and I'm fucking ecstatic about it. Also: trying to decide if, when I play FNV if I want to name my Courier Evan Williams or keep with the J-names and name him Jim Beam. Everyones over here like "here are my OCs I named them after these important people" and I'm like lol I named mine after my drinking problem. ICYMI my sole survivor's name is Jack Daniel 😘
