Johnny 'Guitar' Watson learned to play the piano from his father but was immediately attracted to the sound of the guitar, in particular the electric guitar as played by T-Bone Walker and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown.
His grandfather, a preacher used to sing while he'd play guitar in church. When Johnny was 11, his grandfather offered to give him a guitar if, and only if, the boy did not play any of the "devil's music".
His parents separated when he was 15 and his mother moved him to Los Angeles. He won several local talent shows and this led to his employment as a vocalist, pianist, and guitarist. He quickly made a name for himself in the African-American juke joints of the West Coast, where he first recorded for Federal Records in 1952 and two years later he saw the Joan Crawford film Johnny Guitar, and a new stage name was born.
Born John Watson Jr. on February 3, 1935 in Houston, Texas and died May 17, 1996 in Yokohama, Japan at the age of 61.

Y'all I was watching a Fallout: New Vegas stream last night and apparently a lot of people don't like Johnny Guitar, the song on the radio. And also real-life song by Peggy Lee.
Apparently it "plays too often" because of a bug but there's not a lot of songs on its playlist so that feels like confirmation bias to me, I dunno.
