I love Nitro+Chiral and I love music. They’re in my top five list of favorites! Here’s the list in order for those curious: 1. My wife. 2. Cats. 3. Music. 4. Nitro+Chiral 5. Tea.
But I wanted to share my favorite song from each game and talk about bit about them. I’m trying to create my own ost for my Yuri vn which is much easier said than done, I’d either compose music crudely with premade assets or focusing heavily on piano composition. My only issue is my synth is out of commission currently since I don’t have the cord for it and I need to find it!!! I also started learning composition on guitar but the guitars I have rn is very crude and not even made out of wood but rather cardboard so I can only compose when at my great aunt and uncles home which isn’t often and I don’t have the money to save up for a real guitar.
But my love for music remains and I’ll work with digital music programs till I can get a new cord for the synth or a guitar! Anyways let’s get on with this list, I will only be counting one song per game but I plan to do an in-depth review and ranking on each games ost, I’ll be looking at the sequels/secondary releases of the games as well since most of them have at least a few unique tracks that aren’t in the original game and or extended tracks. Oh and no vocal tracks, I’ll make a second post for the vocal tracks!
Okie let’s start with the bastard child!
Togainu no Chi has a very disorienting ost and that’s not a compliment. While I understand some people are easier on it as it’s their first game, Nitro+ had been making games for awhile before Chiral was formed and they had some genuine talent on that ost so it’s just jarring that so many tracks just aren’t good. But from the original game this has to be my favorite track.
youtube
Grief is phenomenal. I was tempted to put A Peaceful Time as my pick for best track but I feel that grief, despite its short runtime, is very effective in what it does. The track is incredibly melancholic which makes sense since I mean it’s titled grief but something interesting to note is that in the extended version for True Blood, it adds strings to the accompaniment, bringing a hint of hope to the song. In grief there is healing, no matter how hard we may grieve. But the original version which I have linked does not have this extra element, making it rather cold and yet comforting. While you are stuck in this grief it won’t last forever, it slowly fades from you. This version doesn’t give comfort in the same way the True Blood track does, you must decide what you will do once this grief lingers, once it’s gone you may become an empty shell or stronger than you were before. It’s up to you now that this feeling has faded.
Togainu no chi: True Blood is the censored version of TNC released for PlayStation 2 and somehow it’s the only chiral game I own a physical copy of despite not being the biggest fan of TNC. I had to do it for Yukihito aka my fav from the game outside of Akira. While True Blood doesn’t have many original tracks, it extends many of the shorter tracks from the original ost. I already stated that it did this with grief, but my pick for this game is In The Quiet Sleep.
youtube
The original track is only fifty seconds long, when I first heard it I remember thinking what wasted potential. Then I found the ost for True Blood and became delighted to see the song was extended to just over two minutes. And oh boy did they deliver. It feels like you’re waking from a peaceful dream, that everything bad that has ever occurred was a mere illusion. The flute guides you into a further sense of calm before it slowly begins to fade out and we get that beautiful crescendo before the guitar returns to the song. It truly feels like an illusive lullaby, the flute disappearing returning you to reality. The sudden abruptness of ending adds to that, god I love this song so much I genuinely couldn’t think of a better song from True Blood even if I tried! Now onto…
Lamento:Beyond the Void! Choosing just one track from this point forward will be incredibly difficult as I consider Lamento and the OST’s after it near perfection. Lamento also has a good number of songs that count as vocal tracks due to the Latin used in them. I was debating if I count these since I already know which song I’d choose for my vocal track ranking and it isn’t any of the aforementioned songs but ultimately I decided I’d simply highlight all the vocal tracks of Lamento when my overall ost ranking post goes up. So without further ado, my choice for best non vocal track from Lamento is Coral Reef.
youtube
Coral Reef is truly beautiful. Unlike my picks from TNC and TB, this track, while it has beautiful storytelling, it isn’t somber at all! I feel it’s relaxing and fun, it incorporates sounds from multiple other sounds such as the slight drumming and the violin, not to mention the piano! Lamento uses a lot of soft melodies and juxtaposes them with more explosive ones, but Coral Reef is very self contained while still having that hint of longing near the end of the song. I feel that a majority of Lamento’s ost has this slight longing undertone and I think even in a happier song like Coral Reef you can still hear it! All the songs from this game feel so magical and beautiful, truly excited to highlight more from this game soon. Now it’s time for doomed yaoi.
Sweet Pool is a big inspiration when it comes to the type of story I want to make. There is something incredibly special about that silly little game, it both brings me into a state of depression and yet every time I see one of the characters I can’t help but smile. The human capacity for love no matter how horrid the circumstances are is perfectly highlighted in this game, I feel more than any other Chiral game. It’s so somber yet beautiful. The OST is a lot like that, while some might see the tonal changes in song as the soundtrack being disoriented, I see it as a deliberate choice to show the complexity of human emotions. And because of that, my choice for Sweet Pool is Sorrow.
youtube
I nearly chose Forever, the track right after this one. Honestly I think nearly every track on Sweet Pool’s ost is so unique and somber but ultimately it was Sorrow that got picked. Sorrow doesn’t feel sad or hopeless to me, but rather it invokes tiredness. Not that the song is boring but rather it feels like you’ve gone through so much and you’re so tired you don’t know if you can even continue. The slight laughing at the beginning I feel highlights this well, adding a sense of paranoia to the song. At multiple parts it starts to lighten up, become softer, but then it quickly becomes louder than before. Only at the end does it truly begin to fade, but rather than receiving relief that you’re finally free, that this tiredness will finally leave, it feels like it’s about to reset instead. Considering the themes of Sweet Pool I felt this track highlighted it perfectly, while I love the more alien tracks of this game, I wanted to highlight something more human. Now it should be noted that Sweet Pool ALSO has a censored version for the PsVita it does not have any unique songs unlike True Blood. Sweet Pool also has the drama cd album, Everblue. Which we will talk about in my vocal track video, not here. So for now, farewell, Sweet Pool.
Finally we’ve arrived at my first Chiral game, Dramatical Murder! It was very tempting to put the Jellyfish song aka track 20 and call it a day. But ultimately I’m trying to choose tracks that I both find to be exceptional and an overall good representation of the games entire ost. And sadly track 20 doesn’t fit that bill. The dmmd ost is incredibly dear to my heart even with all its flaws. I remember being in middle school and listening to the songs at 2 am when no one else was awake. I’d lay on my back staring at my ceiling, wondering when things would get better. I went through a phase early in high school where I became ashamed to listen to any foreign music, I distanced myself from my interests entirely. And yet whenever I felt this overwhelming sadness, I’d put on the dmmd ost. It was the one reassuring thing I had at that turbulent age. It feels weird to think that I’m going to be Aoba Seragaki’s age later this year. I wish I could return to the past and tell that scared little lesbian that things would turn out okay, that she’d find a way to keep going even when nothing seemed right. And as a result of all my fond memories with dmmd, I can’t choose any other track than track 24.
youtube
Possibly the most melancholic track that the game has to offer, yet I don’t see it as fully sad. It feels comforting, like everything is coming to an end and it’s time to finally say goodbye. I don’t know if my nostalgia clouds my feelings for this song or if it’s genuinely something indicative of Dramatical Murder. What I do know is that this song perfectly describes Aoba. Someone who holds a deep sadness and longing for the past but does his best not to worry others, someone who is happy most of the time yet can’t help but feel that there’s something missing. But there’s no guarantee he’ll ever find what’s missing and so there’s no point in searching. If he can keep living as is, no matter how large that pit begins to grow, then he’ll keep doing it.
Now it’s Re:Connect time! I actually didn’t sit down and listen to the entire Re:Connect ost till last year. I feel it’s less polished than the original games OST and I mean it does make sense as Re:Connect isn’t nearly as long as dmmd and reuses a lot of the same tracks from its original game. But we have 13 unique non vocal tracks for this game and while I definitely have less to say about this pick than the previous ones, I still love this song dearly. My pick is DMMd re BMG 11.
youtube
Unlike every ost before it, both Dmmd and Dmmd re only have their tracks numbered rather than them being properly titled. I don’t consider this a good or bad thing, just a difference from the other titles. I don’t find many of the tracks from reconnect good or stimulating, but I find this one to be very fun! It’s very synth heavy and I love the middle part a lot. It feels like a fun little song but something odd is that both the official album version and the cd version of this song have almost 50 seconds of silence at the very end? It’s honestly rather off putting and made me consider that maybe there is something more with the story telling here. But after thinking about it more, I’m not sure if it was intentional or done with deep purpose. It would have easily been done to pad out the albums run time or the space it took up on the cd release, or it could’ve been an accident that wasn’t caught and the ost is so old that there is no point in fixing it now.
Re:Code is the censored version for psvita. I’m not gonna lie, I assumed that this game only had vocal tracks till a week ago. That’s when YouTube recommended me this track.
Now from the limited research I’ve done it seems we only have two original non vocal songs for this game, Zap music #1 and Zap music #2, the second of which I can only find on a tumblr blog which I’ll link here.
As I have only listened to this song a handful of times there isn’t much I can say about it, but I do think it’s cool that any bmg tracks were made for re:code in general. This track is so peaceful and gentle, I can only imagine where it plays in game. I may try to download recode and true blood via an emulator soon if just for the music. Please listen to both of the songs from re:code, while my analysis is next to non existent compared to my other tracks, I find them both to be deeply satisfying and lovely.
Finally onto the newest game to release, Slow Damage. I want to state now that I find almost every track in Slow Damage to be perfection. It’s incredibly cohesive and as a result I went INSANE thinking of what track to post. Bar Time of course is a classic, soft and rather calm, one of the few tracks in this ost that is fully calm. Then Midnight exists, it feels like a more upscale version of Bar Time, jazzy and cool! Deathmatch is explosive and vibrant, and Nap time (I think that’s its proper translation) is so lovely and nostalgic. I thought long and hard before I chose my song for Slow damage, in fact I almost went with Maya’s theme due to how it not only is reflected in multiple other tracks but with how it relates to the themes of the game, being haunted by an unknown past. I almost chose the choir song that’s used at the end of the true route, or one of the songs used during interrogations…but ultimately I had to choose Omoi.
youtube
The translation of this track ranges from heavy to gloomy to blue. And while I feel this track is definitely a sadder one, Omoi highlights the juxtaposition between living in the past and striving for a better future. Omoi starts out super melancholiac, even having the same leitmotifs that later on are revealed to belong to Maya. But despite all that, near the end of the song, the piano’s melody changes, a new distorted instrument enters the picture and the piano slowly becomes less harsh and more triumphant. The song doesn’t fade out but rather ends with a slight burst, as if hope or at least the determination to keep going have been reached. I truly think any track I could’ve picked for Slow Damage would’ve been wonderful but I’m so glad that this is what I chose. Omoi is a truly wonderful track and in my opinion, perfectly captures the multitude of emotions held in Slow Damage. I’m grateful to anyone who has read this far, and I’d love to know your favorite tracks from any of these games, so feel free to share in the comments or in a reblog or tag me in your post if you decide to do a ranking! I’m very grateful to be in this community and to have the music of these silly yaoi games by my side. I hope everyone reading has a lovely day or evening!

Canonicals Tournament Round 2, Match 4
Tumblr media
Match 4 is between Rong Hao from Love Between Fairy and Devil (shizun: Chi Di Nu Zi) and Yuuri Katsuki from Yuri!!! on Ice (shizun/mentor: Viktor Nikiforov)
Propaganda under the cut! (Warning: Propaganda may include spoilers about the characters and their media)
Rong Hao:
This guy tried so hard to destroy three realms and murdered so many people so that his shizun could be alive and well.
#all he wanted was for shizun to come back to him#his anger that nobody “respected bee sacrifice” was so real#vote Tooting Muderer
#ronghao is so fucked up about his shifu and it's delicious
#Ronghao is… intense#so busy thinking about shizunfucker things that he couldn’t spend even a moment learning how to play a second song on his flute#in thirty thousand years
Yuuri Katsuki:
Well, this one is just canon; they literally get engaged and retire to dance duets together. But really, all you truly need to know is that Yuuri canonically papered his entire bedroom in posters of Viktor. You just know he absolutely jerked it in that bedroom while staring at those posters. There's no way that didn't happen.

Updated: April 3, 2025
Reworked Character #20: Hyakutaro Ichimonji
POTENTIAL TRIGGER WARNING: Viewer discretion is advised due to references to death, torture, crime, and animal abuse.
Aliases: Qi Releaser and Blonde Grandpa
Occupation: 2nd Lieutenant and field electrical engineer in the Regular Army, Captain of the Intelligence Agency, and General of Division 6
Retirement plans: Reopen the Ichimonji martial arts school
Special skills: Proficiency in gathering intelligence and Ichimonji-style martial arts, inspecting electrical equipment, street fighting, and operating incognito
Esper abilities: He can strike a person's vulnerable points with either a spin kick or harsh jab, causing instant damage to blood vessels and bones that fully incapacitates them. Due to the experiments conducted on him and his tremendous martial arts skills and training, his body has become incredibly resilient. As a result of his iron-like physicality, his grip strength is powerful enough to tear skin. Additionally, he can communicate with bugs like cockroaches and ants, commanding them to survey areas that are difficult for him to access and return with crucial intelligence on enemy positions and other potential threats.
He has mastered the Hishou Ken technique, which enables him to harness the kinetic willpower surging through his body. This allows him to unleash a strange blue light from the black half-orbs with a blue-violet sheen located in the centre of his palms. This energy is released in a burst, rapidly pursuing nearby enemies. A medium-sized ball of energy feels like a hard punch with lingering pain for a brief moment. In contrast, large ones deliver an instant, crushing blow. He can launch between five to ten of these energy blasts before requiring a recharge period of three to six minutes.
During a minute of deep concentration, he can unleash a stream of fiery, electric blue energy that lasts for four minutes. This energy incinerates any enemy within its 10 ½ ft (320.04 cm) range and electrocutes enemies that aren’t directly in front of the blast, but are close to it. To maintain the blast, he must remain stationary, moving only slightly in one spot because any significant movement will break his concentration and halt the attack. Once the four-minute stream of energy has been unleashed, he must wait fifteen minutes to recharge before using this ability again.
Hobbies: Shaving, tai chi, wandering around battlefields, and playing the shakuhachi flute
Likes: Maintaining his hair, wearing fancy business suits, eating bananas and watching Kamen Rider with Utan, and all of the souvenirs he collected over the years
Dislikes: Being reminded of losing his family, anyone who dismisses his martial arts teaching, all of the harm General Morden has caused, and people confusing him as the first esper in all of human history
Favourite food: Mitarashi dango
Sexuality: Aromantic asexual
Gender: Male
Age: 54 (in 2022), 60 (in 2028), 62 (in 2030), 64 (in 2032), 66 (in 2034), 73 (in 2041), 75 (in 2043), 76 (in 2044), and 79 (in 2047)
Blood type: B-
Weight: 128 lbs. (58 kg)
Design: He’s a 5’ 7” (170.18 cm) Japanese ectomorph with a lean, athletic, slightly gaunt build and some muscle definition. He has a pale ivory skin and sparkling sunburst green-hazel eyes with a pink lavender sheen. He has a crooked, rosy nose, a brownish mole located above his right nostril, a missing upper left canine, and a silvery lower right premolar. He has the same unkempt hair and beard as Hyakutaro from Metal Slug 3 Pachinko, but with a few streaks of light ash blonde. Before being subjected to experiments, his hair was a jet black colour, and his eyes lacked an unnatural sheen. His face shows signs of aging, including forehead lines, frown lines, tear troughs, nasolabial folds, and crow's feet.
He has a large back irezumi tattoo depicting a blue-eyed white tiger battling a baku stealing a golden pear in a peony field, while the vermillion bird soars high above in a cloud-filled sky, watching the event. He bears numerous scars from his time on the battlefield: a lightning bolt-shaped scar extending from his left deltoid to the underside of his right pectoral muscle; multiple scrapes and cuts on his feet and right hand; a bullet graze mark above his right elbow; a bullet wound below the left side of his waist; and a semi-curved scar from his right temple to the center of his cheek. He also has sixteen cigarette burns on the sides of his neck, a series of stab wounds on his right upper arm, and severe burns on his left hand and forearm. He also has a slightly diagonal scar located on the left side of the bridge of his nose, his left little finger amputated, and the tip of his tongue has been cut off.
His military gear consists of a metal dog tag necklace with his name, forearms wrapped in worn gauze, and fireproof field drab gloves featuring cutouts that expose the half-orbs on his palms. Similar to Regular Army peacekeeping troops, he wears a left-side reseda chartreuse armband displaying the Regular Army insignia and a lavender moisture-wicking dress shirt with an open collar. However, he also wears a Division 6 field tunic, which replaces the standard camouflage jacket. He wears metal wristbands, E-Armour, mid-calf Hooker’s green socks, and a pair of field drab paratrooper boots. He wears dark green, greyish-brown, and charcoal camouflage army cargo shorts with frayed hems, which is held up by his black karate belt. He carries a small apple green hobo bag slung over his left shoulder, which contains his walkie-talkie and a pack of banana-kiwi flavoured gum. He has a sheath for his Mark I trench knife, a holder for his tonfa, and a right-side drop leg holster for his CZ 75 with a silencer.
He wears a dark brown bandolier slung over his right shoulder, holding 9×21mm cartridges for his CZ 75. Hyakutaro carries around a field drab load-bearing backpack that contains camping equipment, tactical explosives, portable ammo boxes, a canteen full of water, electrician tools, and a disguise kit that adapts to the specific requirements of each mission. It also contains a maple wood baseball bat with rusty nails and all Regular Army-issued weapons for the comrades who need them the most.
When he's not on the battlefield, he styles his hair neatly, which is reminiscent of Hyakutaro's character portrait in Metal Slug: 2nd Mission. He wears a white dress shirt and a rose quartz cardigan-style vest with silver buttons. He accessorises with gold-rimmed sunglasses featuring yellow lenses, which he sometimes swaps for black eyeglasses. Around his neck, he wears an alabaster-hued scarf adorned with vertical stripes of Prussian blue and old lavender in a zig-zag pattern. He dons a pair of leather field drab dress shoes and dark goldenrod skinny jeans held up by a black belt with a green-tinted silver buckle. He wears a pink lavender tie with palatinate purple polka dots and a Hooker’s green business suit jacket with white cuffs. He still carries the apple green hobo bag, which now holds his pack of gum, a blue-violet case for his eyeglasses, and a handful of bananas for Utan. He often carries a hickory wood walking cane with a black finish and a green gold C-shaped handle.
He wears white boxer briefs with vertical sky-blue stripes and a gilt-brass heart-shaped locket. The locket contains a photo of his step-granddaughter, beaming with joy as she tightly hugs a birthday doll, her smile highlighting her missing upper left premolar. On his right hand, he dons a golden wedding band and a silver engagement ring with a trillion cut diamond. He always wears a viridian fanny pack with khaki-coloured straps and Chinese violet polka dots. Inside, he keeps his hair care essentials: L’Oréal Elnett Extra Strong Hold, Catwalk Your Highness Firm Hold Hairspray, Amika The Wizard Silicone-Free Detangling Primer, a wide-toothed Maya blue hair brush, a black detangling hair brush, and a palatinate purple paddle hair brush.
Character summary: He’s a wise, humble, respectful, and generous Buddhist who’s deeply devoted to successfully completing his military duties and supporting his comrades in combat. When necessary, will thoughtfully question orders that compromise his sense of honour and the safety of himself and those around him. He's a kind-hearted and approachable person who easily makes friends and greatly appreciates the friendships he has fostered over the years. Hyakutaro possesses a lighthearted and slightly absurd sense of humour, while also displaying surprising bravery and agility in battle. However, his clumsiness, predisposition to risk-taking, and occasional lapses in attention can sometimes make him accident-prone. Although cautious in his espionage work, he’s somewhat impulsive in combat, often bursting with boundless enthusiasm.
Hyakutaro lives with mild atypical depression and unresolved trauma, having learned to manage his symptoms while actively working towards healing and acceptance. Every second month, he takes a “depression nap” that lasts three hours, allowing him to clear his mind and get some much-needed rest. He has a habitual gesture of licking his thumb and then holding it up to gauge the wind's direction. As a nature lover, he strongly respects the environment and fauna, and can't stand people who abuse animals for sick entertainment. He sets exceptionally high standards for himself as a martial arts master, which can be sometimes crippling, leading to self-criticism and fixation on mistakes. Fortunately, with encouragement and affirmation from loved ones, Hyakutaro is able to navigate these challenges and maintain confidence in his abilities.
He remains eerily calm and centred, even in the most intense situations, and it's exceedingly difficult to provoke his anger. Despite his overly carefree and optimistic nature, his views are surprisingly grounded and pragmatic, never veering into the absurd. Although he usually has a happy expression, he's capable of turning deadly serious and menacing when necessary. He’s extremely supportive of his comrades, encouraging them to be their authentic selves and do what is right. However, this support can sometimes be misapplied, inadvertently encouraging negative behaviour. Despite his intelligence, he occasionally speaks out of turn, making others feel uncomfortable.
Driven by a desire for revenge, he seeks to hold General Morden and the Rebel Army accountable for the death of his family and many comrades and the kidnapping of his step-granddaughter that occurred during the Great Morden War. Whenever he hears anything about the Rebel Army, he immediately takes action and is determined to take them down. He feels proud of his level of seniority in the Regular Army and the respect it earns him, although he intends to retire and live a normal life once he gets the chance.
He’s a charismatic, attentive, and introspective leader who ensures his team runs smoothly and swiftly resolves issues as they arise. As a self-disciplined and emotionally intelligent individual, he’s highly perceptive, effectively reading the emotions of both situations and people. With unwavering resolve, Hyakutaro remains committed to his mission: protecting the innocent and defeating people who threaten world peace. Although he can be talkative at times, he is generally a man of few words, speaking briefly and directly when he does. However, when discussing his passions for martial arts and electrical work, he opens up and enjoys sharing his enthusiasm with his comrades. He has an imposing presence that commands respect, often accompanied by a confident and intimidating demeanour.
He takes great pride in being one of Gimlet's top instructors, having taught him valuable self-defence skills through martial arts and even gifted him his prized iron knuckles. He delights in having meandering conversations about random topics with Gimlet, sharing laughs and drinks along the way. He truly admires Gimlet's kindness, respect, and protectiveness towards him, but is put off by his short temper. He's uncomfortable with Gimlet's bullying and inappropriate behaviour. He's also perplexed by how someone he considers a good friend can be so hurtful to others without hesitation. Despite this, he tries to offer Gimlet constructive advice and encouragement to help him become a better person and find his purpose in life.
He looks up to his older twin brother, Nayutaro, for introducing him to martial arts and teaching him the fundamentals. He's grateful for Nayutaro's unwavering support and care, even when they're apart for extended periods. He's also close with his three cousins, treating them like brothers, and encourages their pursuit of martial arts excellence. However, he sometimes finds Nanahyakumantaro's intense brooding and Happyakumantaro's party-centric lifestyle to be egregious. He often engages in playful banter with Issenmantaro and Nayutaro. He also good-naturedly teases Nanahyakumantaro about his overly serious nature. Hyakutaro rarely argues with Happyakumantaro, especially when the latter fails to pay attention to important instructions or intentionally causes trouble at inopportune moments.
A temporary rift formed in his relationships with Nayutaro and his three cousins, Issenmantaro, Nanahyakumantaro, and Happyakumantaro, when he discovered their involvement with the Rebel Army following the formation of the Japanese Infantry. However, he didn't seem overly troubled by this revelation, particularly after they confessed that they soon grew disillusioned with the Rebel Army's atrocities. They share a common conviction that the Regular Army is corrupt and that those responsible for its nefarious activities must be held accountable for their crimes. Nevertheless, they’re reluctant to risk assassination and spark widespread chaos.
Hyakutaro deeply cares about his orangutan pet, Utan, willing to do anything to keep him happy and ensure he lives his best life. He values the companionship Utan offers and appreciates his unique ability to understand emotions and listen attentively to others. He finds the absurdly gentlemanly voice emitted by the device on Utan's collar, which translates his thoughts, to be hilarious. This is especially true when Utan attempts to be deadly serious and threatening. Hyakaturo appreciates the orangutan’s great sense of humour and enjoys sharing bananas with him. He's not fond of how Utan can come across as demanding and annoying when he wants something. Utan tends to throw tantrums when he doesn't get his way or when someone does something he dislikes. Furthermore, Utan can be a distraction when he unexpectedly ends up on the battlefield.
Backstory: Hyakutaro Ichimonji was born on August 26, 1968 in Kaev Seima, Mondulkiri, Cambodia. Much of Hyakutaro's life before his military service remains shrouded in mystery, with only a few details known about him. His father owned the Ichimonji martial arts school, while his mother was a covert agent for the Japanese government, disguised as an artistic businesswoman. They immigrated to Cambodia to live a life of solitude and peace, escaping the usual hustle and bustle of Nagoya. He’s the younger twin brother of Nayutaro Ichimonji, the declared eldest heir of the secretive Ichimonji-style martial arts and ninjutsu. Not much is known about the Ichimonji-style martial arts and ninjutsu due to its highly secretive nature. Practitioners refuse to share its secrets, fearing widespread replication and potential damage to its history. However, rumors suggest that the Ichimonji clan combines various martial arts from around the world with street fighting and/or tai chi. According to him, his personality was largely shaped by his mother and Buddhist teachings.
Hyakutaro, the youngest heir of the Ichimonji-style martial arts and ninjutsu, never practiced the art of the ninja because it had never interested him. Nayutaro taught him the fundamental principles of martial arts, while his father instructed him in advanced techniques, teaching him how to properly wield them. His mother shared with him the secrets of becoming a master spy, which sparked his interest in espionage work. Once he turned 12, his parents moved back to Japan to stay with his father's family in Kagoshima. There, he and Nayutaro met and lived alongside Issenmantaro, Nanahyakumantaro, and Happyakumantaro in a small neighbourhood. They quickly formed a strong bond, spending their free time together by having movie nights, playing board games, and exploring the outdoors. They also became classmates, attending the same school and helping each other out with homework. During grade 11, he pursued an apprenticeship to become a licensed electrician, a career path he genuinely aspired to.
It's unknown what happened to Hyakutaro's parents because he refuses to discuss their sudden disappearance from his life. However, according to him, a tragic event befell his parents that pushed him to live a life of crime as a yakuza member after he finished his apprenticeship, and his three cousins moved to other places in or outside of Japan. This explains the tattoo on his back, his former possession of iron knuckles, and his expertise in street fighting. He joined a yakuza gang alongside Nayutaro after undergoing yubitsume, which allowed them to showcase their martial arts skills. They participated in various illicit activities, including loan sharking, to provide financial support for themselves and their gang. His reputation grew as a formidable and unexpectedly generous shateigashira, bolstered by his Ichimonji heritage and expertise in espionage.
In his late 20s, he was recruited by the Regular Army and Intelligence Agency, who recognised his unwavering loyalty, exceptional combat skills, and expertise in electrical work. After leaving the yakuza, he faced a five-year antisocial force designation, making everyday tasks like opening a bank account, buying a car or renting a room extremely challenging. However, the financial support from the Regular Army and Intelligence Agency, who valued him as a key asset in tactical operations, largely mitigated these difficulties. Following his specialised training, he became a highly skilled tactical spy, successfully completing numerous high-stakes missions. He worked as a field electrical engineer for the Regular Army, where he became responsible for inspecting his comrades' electrical equipment. He also took the initiative to teach martial arts and hand-to-hand combat skills to cadets, new recruits, and fellow comrades who showed genuine interest.
As the Regular Army was affiliated with the Amadeus Syndicate at the time, he became one of the first individuals to undergo experimentation with psionic energy. Fortunately, he was among the few who avoided extreme physical stress and heavy scientific modification. Hyakutaro ultimately became the first recorded esper in contemporary history, marking a significant event since Ptolemaios' exile from his tribe. These experiments would ultimately propel him to living legend status as he ascended through the ranks, earning the distinctions of 2nd Lieutenant in the Regular Army and Captain in the Intelligence Agency.
Twelve years prior to the Arms Deal Barrage, he relocated to Vietnam, where he met Salomea, a Polish medical illustrator, during a visit to a local pharmacy. Over the next four years, they went on numerous dates and spent quality time together whenever he wasn't busy. He learned that she was a widow with a young adolescent son named Kordian. The couple eventually married, and he became Kordian's step-father. His married life and relationship with Kordian were healthy and loving. He supported them to the best of his abilities, even setting aside money for Kordian's education.
He played a crucial role in the Arms Deal Barrage as a tactical spy. He provided crucial intel on enemy positions and deliberately allowed himself to be captured to supply his comrades. Notably, he was among the select few informed by Tequila, Gimlet, and Red Eye that the Regular Army was corrupt and secretly involved in an illicit arms deal with the Serapion Fellowship. However, like the others, he chose to remain silent, fearing assassination and the inability to live a meaningful life. He aided Gimlet in pursuing Lieutenant Colonel Macba on a moving freight train, battling him in the front car and successfully defeating him. As a gift of appreciation and recognition for Gimlet's fighting capabilities, Hyakutaro gave him his iron knuckles before they left the freight train and received orders to destroy a Serapion Fellowship fuel factory.
While navigating a desert area littered with Serapion Fellowship bikers and tanks after Gimlet rescued him from sudden capture, he spotted a group of guerrillas and special forces operatives bullying a male orangutan wearing a diaper. The orangutan, whose voice was amplified by a device on its collar, begged its tormentors to stop and screamed in rage and agony. He promptly intervened, rescuing the orangutan and slaughtering his tormentors. As a token of gratitude, the orangutan offered him a banana that one of the guerrillas had been holding. Hyakutaro learned that the friendly orangutan’s name was Utan, born on May 14, 1948, in an Israeli zoo, and his advanced age was attributed to biological modifications. He decided to keep Utan by his side and equipped him with a MAC-10 for self-defence.
During the start of the Great Morden War, Hyakutaro was having dinner with his family and sister-in-law, celebrating the birthday of his 7-year-old Vietnamese-Polish step-granddaughter, Quyên. The evening was disrupted by a sudden raid in Vietnam. He witnessed the killing of his wife and step-son and the kidnapping of his step-granddaughter by the Rebel Army Bike Squad. It greatly devastated him, but he didn’t have much time to grieve as the Rebel Infantrymen took him hostage. They forced him to repair the Tetsuyuki in the Villeneuve Mt. System, threatening that if he refused, Quyên, who was also being held hostage, would be forced into Operation Satchen and face a gruesome death due to an explosive device implanted in her newly gifted doll. He reluctantly agreed to repair the electrical components of the Tetsuyuki, not wanting to risk Quyên’s life.
Deciding enough was enough, he engaged in combat with the Rebel Army Private 1st Class Tetsuyuki pilot and ultimately killed him, then escaped the warship. However, he would be recaptured and hastily relocated to Ronbertburg City as Marco, Tarma, Tequila, Gimlet, and Red Eye breached Rebel Army defenses in the Villeneuve Mt. System. Meanwhile, Quyên was rescued by Tequila and placed under Fio's care. The Rebels then subjected Hyakutaro to severe torture and later left him hanging on the roof where the Mini-Bata was once stored. Luckily, he was rescued by Gimlet and later reunited with Quyên, who was under the care of the S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S.
At this point, he joined the war effort, driven by a desire to support his comrades and a personal vow to protect his step-granddaughter at all costs. He assisted Fio and Eri on their intelligence-gathering missions during the Great Morden War, while providing crucial support to the resistance by supplying weapons and repairing electrical equipment.
During the Extraterrestrial Alliance Clash, he was dispatched to gather intelligence on Rebel Army plans and Japanese Infantry positions. After surveying San Luis Potosí and stealing classified documents from a Japanese Infantry base, he was captured by Pipovulaj troops while returning to his assigned Regular Army unit, which had been deployed alongside him to provide additional combat support. Despite attempting to fight back, he was overpowered and subjected to six weeks of torture by the Japanese Infantry and Pipovulaj to extract information on Regular Army tactical operations. His escape remains unclear, but rumours suggest a Martian operative working for Pupipi, disguised as a Pipovulaj troop, may have assisted him.
Upon his escape, he found himself battling a contingent of Japanese Infantry soldiers and Pipovulaj troops. Fortunately, he was rescued by Nayutaro, Issenmantaro, Nanahyakumantaro, Happyakumantaro, and Division 6, who intervened just in time to prevent his recapture or potential death. After learning about their circumstances, he was appointed as their leader. As a sign of respect rather than genuine devotion, he began to worship Sol Dae Rokker. Following the surrender of the Arabian Infantry, he intentionally allowed himself to be captured in Hong Kong, where he was tied to a stake and heavily guarded by Rebels. He was later rescued by Division 6 and Marco's team, providing them with crucial intel on the Rebel Army's next location and offering combat assistance.
In New Godokin City, Hyakutaro and Division 6 were tasked with tracking down Sagan, while Marco's team handled the ongoing situation with Logan in the subway tunnel. Hyakutaro stealthily found Sagan in a raided shopping mall, where Rebels were partying, looting food and clothing, and socialising. Upon discovering this, he called for Regular Army reinforcements to aid in the assault. Once they arrived, accompanied by a battle-ready Rumi, the reinforcements and Division 6 tackled the Rebel threat with moderate success. In the final showdown, Hyakutaro aided Marco's team and the Pipakhroz by weakening the Rugname's core.
When Hyakutaro and Division 6 were deployed to a South Pacific island during the Survival Island Occupation, he commanded his team to confront the Rebels, while he searched for hostages and valuable intel. As he navigated through the dense jungle, he became lost and battled many Rebel soldiers, rescued hostages, and gathered important intel on current enemy plans, while trying to find his way back to Division 6. After two days, he encountered Dilovar, who was aiding the P’isqu Runakuna (“bird people” in Quechua) in their fight against the invading Rebel soldiers and searching for Walter and Tyra. Without a second thought, he joined forces with Dilovar, providing combat support and occasional advice. Hyakutaro eventually reunited with Division 6 and met Walter and Tyra, launching a strategic assault on the Rebel Army base housing the Cabracan. Following the battle, he invited Dilovar, Walter, and Tyra to join Division 6, impressed by their combat skills and teamwork.

Aether
Third years who just transferred in, how unlucky to change schools in their last year
Runs morning announcements with his sister Lumine
Somehow becomes his class president, seriously he just got here
His vice-president is Wanderer and at first he’s confused as to why
But then he gets to know him and realizes that he isn’t so bad
Has a problem with Ajax, another third year, solely because their first interaction was Ajax trying to pick a fight
Chief editor of the school newspaper, his sister is the Chief writer
They’re really good at recording stories and reporting them
Really popular with the student body, he’s just great at listening and giving  advice
Also really involved in other clubs events, the knitting club had a little workshop once and he made a hat that he gave to Albedo for his sister
Albedo had wanted to go but the art club had a field trip to a limited exhibit and as the president he had to go
For the school festival his class did a drama production with Aether as the prince looking for his sister
Lumine was busy with her class’ event though, so the play ended with him still on his journey but with a lot of new friends
He did manage to convince her to wear an exclamation mark above her head all day, and people could get a stamp from her to spin a wheel for a prize
Worst subjects are geography and math, best subject is history
Group projects with him are really easy, his work is always done first
Venti
The music teacher but he constantly gets mistaken for a student
Used to be a traveling musician but had kind of a Koro-sensei situation with the nameless bard
Controls the morning announcement music, the first month it’s always his music
After band auditions he has the students record for the announcements
Regularly pranks the other staff, once changed Mr.Zhongli’s desktop to a picture of [Venti]
Zhongli is too tech illiterate to change it back himself, Nahida has to help
Genuinely adores his students and is always happy to help/give advice
Actually helps run the Miss Hina advice column with Gorou since he needed and staff supervisor
Venti has no favorite student(s), he thinks they’re all amazing in their own ways and says so every graduation
It feels genuine every time because it is
Xiao
A student teacher, baffling I know
Why is this man in teaching, he seems to hate everyone
Once, his friends picked him up after school because they were going to a concert
Everyone was scared of the supposed biker gang parked out front
Then Xiao came out and started talking to them, he came back around a minute later on his bike
It was, of course, the Yaksha all dining jackets made by Menogias
He gets bombarded by questions the next day
Intimidating aura but he wants to be there for his students like his teachers were for him
It’s no surprise he was a troubled youth, it’s one of the first things you might guess about him, but you’ll remember not to judge a book by its cover once you speak with him
Also he plays the flute
Sometimes you can pass by one of the music practice rooms at lunch and here him playing, sometimes with Venti
He’s shadowing Mr. Venti because he wants to be a music teacher, though he’s also really good with history
Kazuha
Third year, so his last year
Not part of band, but sometimes he joins as a guest
He was a part of band for the first two years, but his friend died over the summer and he just can’t commit to it right now
Childhood friends with Wanderer, though they’ve only recently reconnected because Kazuha gets why Wanderer shut him out in the first place
He hangs out with the gym teacher Beidou, she encourages him to stop by the judo club
She understands he doesn’t want a club commitment right now, but she thinks he needs something to keep him busy
He stops by Friday practices after school
Almost became Lumine’s vice-president for their class but lost out to Gorou
Gorou wasn’t going to run, but he didn’t want Kazuha to have to back out of the position and get asked questions
Has lunch in one of the stairwells with Gorou, Kokomi, Ayato, and Ayaka
When they’re busy with club stuff he’ll wither sit in the music room or in Beidou’s office, depending on if there’s band practice or not
A very good student and absolutely someone you want in your group
Doesn’t have a worst subject but his best subject is language
Heizou
A second year
He’s president of a detective club, they talk about crime shows, podcasts, and novels
Also a bit of a prankster and very hard to catch
Like if you don’t watch him do it you won’t be able to get him in trouble
His co-president Sara Kujo hates this
Wants to be a detective because his childhood friend was killed in an unsolved crime
Last year his club ran a murder mystery scavenger hunt for the school festival
He has been asked no less than 20 times if they’re doing it again this year
His club supervisor is Mr. Neuvillette, he teaches the laws of Teyvat class
He is also not happy with Heizou’s pranks, the the drama teacher Ms. Furina finds them hilarious
Ms. Furina cast him as the detective in this years play, the first years were annoyed that there were no auditions but once they realized he was basically a real life detective they were on board
Speaking of being a real life detective, if you lose something ask him
There is literally a column in the school paper to report lost objects
It’s usually returned within 2 days
Science is his worst subject but he’s still really good at it
Group projects with him are terrifying because he doesn’t finish it until the day before, but he does always get it done
Best subject is literature, really good at analysis
Wanderer
A third year, is often mistaken as a first year
Attends with his sister Raiden who’s a second year
His mother, Ei, is a teacher
First years, including when he was a first year, always avoid him because he looks like a delinquent
He liked that fear because it meant no one would bother him
Ei was worried though, he never really got over the death of his best friend when he was younger
Childhood friends with Kazuha, Kazuha’s grandpa was their neighbor so they were close
Niwa, Kazuha’s grandpa, died around the same time as Wanderer’s first friend whom he’d met at daycare
And he never really coped with it, at first he was really clingy with Kazuha and then he seemed to want nothing to do with him
They’re starting to rekindle their friendship now, Kazuha actually gets him now, as grim as that sounds
Part of the debate club because Nahida, the history and technology teacher, thought his essays were always amazingly persuasive
He joined at first because it let him call people idiots without getting in trouble, eventually he realized he actually enjoyed it
Got into detention once with Ajax because he punched him, to be far Ajax did say “fight me”
The start of a begrudged friendship
Worst subject is gym because he doesn't really try, he only puts in enough effort to not fail
His second worst subject is bio, and his best subject is history
His group work skills are 50/50, on one hand he will not communicate unless something is really wrong but on the other he finishes his work quickly and neatly

Note
Regarding your high school AU, are there any clubs, sports, or general cliques the Incident gets split into?
The main one is band! Almost everyone is in the marching band. (Fun fact, this actually started as a band AU before I made it into a full of high school AU!) The sections are:
Percussion: Erica (Snare) and Orion (Tenors)
Flute: Shrimp
Clarinet: Bo
Trombone: Fail and Mar
Mellophone: Rose
Alto Saxophone: Chi, Lanc, and Bob
Tenor Saxophone: Friend
Trumpet: Bill (who is also on the football team! he gets absolutely no breaks at games i feel so bad for him)
Tuba: Chat and Smuk
Deko is in color guard and plays bass clarinet for concert band, and Joker is in cheer and plays trumpet.
Friend and Bob are in speech and debate, Erica has done stage crew for almost every school theater production, and Rose is in choir and often plays the lead in musicals. Chi and Lanc are also in the drama club, and Shrimp is on the junior varsity SSBU team in E-sports (she just like me fr). (Pirahnyawn is too lazy to join any extracurriculars, and he often rides Rose's coattails when it comes to schoolwork.)
As for cliques, there's not a lot of Plastics or Heathers, but Rose is pretty popular (in the sense that most people know her name). Erica, Fail, and Friend are all in a little friend group together, as are Orion, Mar, Bob, and Smuk.

The moon base.
Chang’e resides here with Lina. Earning Lina to roam freely around here and explore. Whenever Lina would stumble upon things she would scramble to something chaotic with it a bit before cleaning it up and continuing on. However in her point of view, This is a lovely idea of her relaxing in the moon base. And since cooking with Chang’e was a cooking show lina has picked up a few cooking tips here and there appearing on the show a couple of rare times. Either in the background help prepping the ingredients or washing the dishes quick and easy for Chang’e.
If you didn’t (which you really didn’t) know about lina is that she has a little tiny robot bunny that follows her around now after season 3.
Tumblr media
The mech bunny is Lina’s companion as a little digital pet. Since Chang’e didn’t know what to do with the fella after Mk shrunk the poor bunny, She rewarded Lina from her good deeds by gifting her the mech bunny. Having Lina to decide she would name that very mech bunny Chi-Chi.
Sometimes Mei would see lina carry the lil dude around and ask if she could pet it, Only to be met with metal. Forgetting that the mech bunny is metal and wires instead of fluffiness like people would expect.
“At least it was cute though.. But I wonder if I could have one of those!!” -Mei (not cannon quote)
Outside of the moon base
Lina goes to pigsy’s noodles to get a quick snack and probably hang out around the gang for a spare couple of hours before heading back to the moon base. It’s either pigsy sometimes not recognizing Lina since she’s often not really around as much in season 1-2 due to Chang’e asking for quick errands but season 3-? is when Lina is really committed to know what the heck is going on nowadays.
Sometime around when the emperor had fallen from his place, Lina oddly felt a similar heart pulse around Mk, Macaque, Wukong and nezha. Lina shares a deep connection with feeling chang’e emotions rarely at times. Even including what she feels and it applies to Lina as well.
Lina has often hanged around the gang and picked up a few things from each and every one of them. Mk, His small sudden clumsiness when in situations that are clearly dangerous. Mei’s confidence for getting the things she wants to know out of people. Pigsy’s common logic in situations that are dangerous, Hence from around the time back in season one when mk called himself INVINCIBLE! On the same day he got his invincibility taken away on the same day (lol.)
Sandy’s calm, Cheerful manners to situations even not resorting to violence sometimes even if it’s not that serious. There would be some way to try and get past the situation from that point. Tang’s knowledge for many things even if so going full on dork on explaining a whole chapter to everyone to know about the information for one tiny thing. You’d say that Lina kinda is the same like tang. Going on about his knowledge for things like she goes off telling about her knowledge about the moon goddess, Chang’e.
Other characters
Aria is a polite older woman than Lina. About 4 years older if you’d know, And is friends with redson about things. Apart from her being snobby at some times, Aria means well from things. I can imagine Aria became friends with redson by sharing relatable things with him at times. But this will not form a relationship between the two as they will continue to be friends only.
I can imagine as a gift of redson being close friends with Aria, Aria is rewarded by her very own harp design. Aria plays the flute but never the harp. So this was difficult for her at first, But soon later on she’d get use to it and practically helps healing the crew with her sounds of her harp strings being played gently.
Aria is rarely around them. If anything when Lina and Aria met, They clicked together like a friendship bracelet. With a little help of Lina constantly gifting her with things that Lina shouldn’t have— Lina has a special curse of talking to random people without even knowing them for a long time. I’ll talk about Lina and Aria’s relationship in a little while ahead, I wouldn’t wanna give away too much information now would I?
Until then, IM GONE! (I did this last night and assume that I fell asleep after typing this.)
