#GovBallNYC Part Two
Now in the world of photography, at least from what I was taught, no photographer ever opts for shooting in automatic mode, buuuuuuut, come on! Give me a freakin break, adjusting for every single shot trying to keep up with an event that’s already moving at the speed of light.. ain’t nobody got time for that. Lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So while I’m definitely an advocate for manual shooting, I decided if it works for big name photographers that tour with artists, shooting in automatic is something I’ll be forgiven for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However! Shooting in automatic didn't get in the way of experimenting or keep me from having fun. Just a few days before the festival I picked a roll of CineStill 400D. I absolutely loved it! It gives you the same halation effect as the 800T and has such a satisfying, bluish pinkish hue that creates the perfect vibe for each frame, as can be seen in the double exposure you see at the top of this post. I'm very happy with how that shot turned out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A large amount of the photos I took on Sunday were of my friends rather than the show or the people at it but I’m still happy with what I got. I mean I never got close enough to the front of the stage anyway, so these photos of a million hands holding phones in the air are about the best you’ll get out of me. Lmao.
Tumblr media
This roll of CineStill 400D (which I almost lost in the crowd at the Peso Pluma performance) was shot on my trusty AE-1 Program, and is the first of what I'm very sure will be many!

I’ve always loved this scene and this reference to the world’s fair. Let me share some more context!
The 1964–1965 New York World's Fair was a world's fair that held over 140 pavilions and 110 restaurants representing 80 nations, 24 U.S. states, and over 45 corporations with the goal and the final result of building exhibits or attractions at Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in Queens, New York City. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_New_York_World%27s_Fair#:~:text=The%201964–1965%20New%20York,in%20Queens%2C%20New%20York%20City.
Presumably Janine was a kid when she went to the 1964 World’s Fair. The theme was Peace Through Understanding, and the fair celebrated the growing interconnectivity of the modern world and technological achievements. More than 50 million people attended, and there were lots of souvenirs available for purchase. You can still find them floating around on secondhand sites.
The fair grounds are still largely intact in Queens, New York. (The same area was also used for the 1939 World’s Fair, which was themed “Dawn of a New Day.”) One of the most iconic representations of the 1964 fair is the Unisphere, a stainless steel representation of Earth. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unisphere

I’d like to think that Egon and Janine eventually went to visit the old fairgrounds. Maybe they saw a New York Mets baseball game in Queens (it’s nearby) and then went to see the Unisphere. The coin obviously brought them a lot of luck, so it makes sense to pay a visit.

That Flushing Meadows Fair token is a symbol of their love and no one can tell me otherwise

Even at the end of its two-year run, the World's Fair in Flushing Meadow was still packing them in. Lines at Flushing Gate, 1 p.m., October 27, 1940.

#GovBallNYC Part One
Dear Photography, I have a confession to make, my love. I’ve cheated on the game! Lol. The weekend before last… I… shot everything in automatic!!
Oh the Horror! Lmfao!
That’s right! I turned my aperture wheel all the way to ‘Program’ and called it a day. Judge your mother!

June 7th marks my first time going to a music festival. My brother and I accompanied two of my close friends to Governors Ball & we had a blast. I told myself a few weeks ago that I would only be documenting the day on film. I still attempted to pack my 7D with the 24-70 but the weight on my back pack was unacceptable!! Therefore Se7ven (all my cameras have names) had to miss this outing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I packed both my analog cameras along with 3 or 4 brand new rolls of film and was on my way!
Tumblr media
Me and Rudy arrived in Queens to meet Yadira and Gabi around 1:40pm. The day had already gone through multiple stages of weather, opening with some heavy rain in the morning, cold winds, and ultimately being cloudy for a few hours. So after missing a handful of frames due to fumbling around making sure all my settings were correct, I decided to put my pride aside and go straight to ‘Program’ mode.
