Steve is pretty good at dealing with pain. Burns, scrapes, bites, bruises, he will just grit his teeth and get through it. It's almost like the more it hurts, the less he has to think about everything. But when he starts losing his hearing, there's no pain, nothing to shield him from his thoughts.
He's terrified. He already feels isolated, singled out in their small group, and of course he's concerned about not being able to respond, to live his life as he knew it, but what eventually breaks him is the smallest thing, the most insignificant, mundane thing.
He and Robin are sorting books in the Family Video and they have this unspoken ritual - whenever there is a theme song in the movie they're watching, Robin will hum it for the rest of the day, with exaggerated movements, directing the orchestra and everything. And Steve watches her one day and realizes - he will lose this. He will never hear Robin's voice again, her slightly husky and over the top renditions of whatever unlucky movie happens to play. He can't help it, his breathing becomes heavy and shaky and before he knows it, Robin is embracing him and he's trying to explain how scared he is, how he feels like his life is basically over, how he'll miss her silliness and they won't be able to talk on the phone when she leaves for college, he can't ever hear her hum anymore...
After an emotional evening and a pizza night with their favorite sitcom - with subtitles! - on, they go to work again, but Robin excuses herself for a bit, runs into the nearby store. When she comes back, she has a large sketchbook in her hand and a black marker. She starts scribbling along to the very faded melody that Steve is registering from the TV and when she hands her final work to him, he laughs and maybe cries a little. Maybe more than little.
What Robin drew for him looks like a mountain range. She created an axis for time and an axis for the "MUSICAL DRRRRAMA", indicating how intense the music is in each moment. And all of the intensity is annotated, not a single soud described, but rather how Steve and Robin still see their world, in all its silliness. "This part is mega sharp, reminds me of wanting to stab Tommy Hagan with a knitting needle", it says next to one peak. "Remember that really soggy and stale cookie we ate at your place because we were hungry? That's what it feels like" and "it's sooooo looooong and boooooring it's like Mrs. Click's class" and "the violin here is crispy. SPICY. Like the Chinese food we had last Thursday, it kind of never wants to stop burning".
It's then that Steve knows that he will be okay. There won't be phone calls, but there will be letters, so many letters with silly descriptions and drawings, nagging to practice his ASL and visits to check if he really did his homework. Robin will be better than him at it, of course she will, but even when they'll both be able to sign fluently, she will still hand him a new melody scribble now and then.
On Steve's first birthday without sound, she gives him a huge binder labelled "For my only schmuck: Steve's album". In it are tens of scribbles, all of the melodies they hummed together in the Family Video with fresh descriptions and inside jokes. And when she stands in front of all their friends, hands raised up like a conductor and under her guidance, the whole group signs "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STEVE", he realizes that sounds might have been overrated, because there were no words to describe this kind of love.

Faebruary 2024, days 1-9. Experiments in learning to draw chibi Ballister Boldheart fairy.
2 days ago, I finally remembered the Faebruary drawing challenge, which I always look forward to (because I like drawing butterfly fairies), but I always forget (because it's February). So I tried to cram in a bunch of catch-up drawings.
Every Faebruary, I draw chibi butterfly fairies of my current OTPs. This year, it's Goldenheart.
But I still need to learn to draw both Ballister and Ambrosius. And I'm still testing out which of my Copic colors to use for them. I'm especially having trouble drawing Ballister's hair, from a front point of view. I keep wanting to draw the upturn at the back of his hair, even though it's not visible when he is facing directly straight ahead. It's really hard to not draw the upturn, after those years of drawing Claude von Riegan.
This time, I've chosen real life butterfly wings to base theirs off of, instead of making up my own designs. Because Ballister's comic book name is "Blackheart", I'm basing his wings off the "Uranothauma nubifer" or "black heart" butterfly. Ambrosius Goldenloin's wings will be based on the "Wallace's golden birdwing" butterfly, because that was the first butterfly with the word "golden" in its name that appeared in Google search.
The problem is that I think I might have referenced the wrong pictures for the "black heart" butterfly. A Google search shows many different looking "black heart" butterflies. It's difficult to know which pic to reference. I initially went with Wikispecies's pic, since it was specifically labelled "Uranothauma nubifer". But it's also labelled "Uranotauma nubifer, as Lycaena nubifer Trimen", so it might be a different variation of that butterfly. Maybe??? I went with the mostly solid brown wing from Wikispecies's reference, since that would be easier to draw/color. But I later found several other websites specifically labelling photos of the "black heart" butterfly, which look completely different from Wikispecies's mostly solid brown wings. They're mostly gray and tan speckles on white. So I tried to stylize a design based on the more speckled "black heart" butterfly wings. I'm still trying to simplify it in a way that is easy to draw. And I'm still trying to figure out colors that don't get confusing when juxtaposed by Ballister's skin or clothing.
I usually draw my fairies without shoes, but I wanted to practice drawing Ballister's (and Ambrosius's) full outfits, since I'm just starting to learn to draw them. Also, their regular clothes are close enough to the "medieval fantasy"-inspired fashion that I usually draw my fairies in.
I was unsure about adding Ballister's cybernetic arm. How would a fairy get a tiny cybernetic arm? Does their hidden fairy society in the woods, have a whole system of technological equipment and supplies? Does a human use magnifying glass spectacles and miniature cybernetics to make a tiny robot arm for him??? So I skipped the whole subject by not drawing his robot arm.
2/8-10/2024. No pencil underdrawings. Platinum Preppy fountain pen, using Noodler's Ink. Colored with Copic markers and a Daiso Fluently marker. Some corrections made with white-out, Gelly Roll white gel pen, and digitally with Krita.

I really think society needs to stop with inspiration stories that end with "what's *your* excuse?" or "what were *you* doing at that age?" like not being so exceptionally good at something that it's newsworthy makes you a failure. My "excuse" is I'm a normal human being who contributes to society in a normal way. I've not published a best-seller because I like keeping my writing to myself. I'm not a successful entrepreneur because I hate paperwork and have nothing I believe in passionately enough to overcome that. I didn't get a university degree and invent a world-changing water cleaning device at age 13 because I'm not fantastically innovative, and besides, I never had those kinds of opportunities in my community or at my school. I don't have the body of my dreams because I don't want it enough to start going to the gym or stop eating cake.
And like, who fucking cares? Why do we take these amazing stories about people who've done wonderful things and turn them into a guilt trip? My perfectly average existence is more than enough, why does it matter that I don't speak 26 languages fluently and I didn't get an olympic medal at age 19 and the band I was in at 15 never got further than a single gig and I've never finished writing a book never mind a bestseller? Why are such things a marker of success instead of just living a happy, comfortable existence? When I die, what does it matter that I'll be forgotten? I'll still have lived, and I'll still have touched someone's life, I'll still have mattered, even when the last person to remember me is long dead. Let my legacy be that one person had a better day because of me, that someone - for a single moment - believed in the goodness of humanity because of my influence. Newsworthy exceptionalism be damned.
#''what's your excuse'' my excuse is i don't fucking want to#why do i have to have an excuse for existing in a perfectly ordinary way#not languages#just ranting

Hello!! I have a request which may be a bit challenging⌠đ Would you attempt an Echo x deaf reader? It would mean the absolute world <3 Love your stuff :)
Howdy!
Iâve never written something like this before, I read a lot about how people of all ages can become deaf and didnât proper research on how others can communicate with hard of hearing or deaf people! Echo only has one hand so itâs hard for him to do sign language.. which is why in this this fic he uses a marker and board to help talk to the reader đ
Communicating our Love
Echo x deaf!reader
Master list
~_~_~_~
Warnings: echo is new to this.. he messes up a few times. Interaction with a rude stranger.
Sign language is marked by âmarksâ
~_~_~_~
Today was the big day⌠you and echo had been talking on the holonet for months! Your first date together, how romantic.
Echo was aware you were deaf and spent those long months learning sign language. He expressed to you how excited he was to finally talk to you in person! Frankly, so were you!
There he was.. standing next to restaurant. He was so cute you thought.. He saw you looking and waved to you.
âHello Meshâla!.. er- Iâ
You only giggled. You could tell he was just excited.
âItâs nice to finally see you in personâ
He nodded and smiled, pulling out a.. marker and small board?
He wrote,
âItâs nice to finally see you too Meshâlaâ
Your smile dropped a little but it didnât frown. He opened the door for you and you both walked in and sat at a table.
âThis is a nice place. How did you find it?â
âI found it-..â he stopped himself and wrote,
âI found it with my sister omega one day.â
You frowned now.. he told you he learnt how to sign. Why couldnât do it properly?
âEcho? I though you learnt sign language? Did to lie to me?â
He frowned and wrote to you again.
âOf course not! Iâm sorry Meshâla I only have one hand and I find it hard to sign out all the words I want to say.â
You looked down.. you hadnât thought that he also had his own struggles.. he was missing a hand, you felt a little silly and rude now.
âI didnât mean to jump to conclusions.. I just donât know many people who can sign and since you learned I wanted to sign with you.â
Echo smiled and wrote,
âIâm glad you were excited Meshâla.. I shouldâve told you I couldnât sign with my handsâ
âI am impressed with how fluently you can read my signs! Itâs very impressive!â
You have a big cheeky smile as he watched your hands and face carefully.
âThank you, I wanted to make sure I could talk with about anything you wanted before we saw each other in personâ
He gave you an equally cheeky smile. He turned back to his board and wrote something else.
âDo you want to see my ship?â
You nodded enthusiastically. You hadnât seen many ships and you were excited! Echo jumped out of his seat, tucking away the board and marker. He held his hand out and took it, like the gentleman he is, he helped you form your seat and led you out the door.
On your way out however, you accidentally bumped into someone..
âHey! Couldnât you hear me come through the door!â
You quickly signed,
âIm sorry, I canât hear you. Are you alright?â
âHuh? What the hell are you saying?â
You shrank at the harsh lines his face made at you. You couldnât hear him but you could see he was angry.
âShe said she canât hear you! And she wants to know if youâre ok..â
âPft! Iâm fine! But she should let people know sheâs deaf before she goes out in publicâ
âAnd how do you propose she do that? She canât speak well.. you want her to wear a giant flashing sign that says âIâm deafâ on it?! Maybe we should all wear a giant sign.. yours could said âIâm an ignorant bitch..ââ
âYou donât have much room to talk.. âdroid man..ââ
Echo faltered a little.. but he quickly stood strong again.
âJust get out of here.. and leave us aloneâ
You stood next to Echo and put your hand on his scomp link.
âTsk.. yeah Iâll leave the perfect couple alone.. perfect because youâre both imperfect! And a nuisance to society!â
Echo was about to charge after him but you held his arm tight. When he turned to you. You said
âItâs not worth it Echo.. besides I donât know what he said. Letâs just go see your shipâ
Echo grumbled and pulled out his board and marker.
âBut he insulted you!â
âIâm ok.. I promise.. I had you to protect me..â
You blushed and smiled at him.. his own cheeks turning pink, he felt honored that you felt safe around him. You had nothing to fear, Echo wouldnât even let a fly touch you.
âI love youâ
Echo smiled and put his marker and board away.. signing with his arm and scomp.. and then pointing his hand to you
âI love you tooâ
It was a sweet and tender moment for the pair of you.. echo couldnât sign well with one hand.. but he was able to say I love you. And it meant the Galaxy to you.
He took your hand again and held it tight. You both knew this was was just the beginning.. little did you know you would end up living on that ship with him and his family.. and soon think about starting one of your own together.. thankful you had both met on that day on the holonet..

The traveling Writers
â ď¸Oc x Oc/ Genshin impact x Ocâ ď¸
Blue= sign language
Chapter 1:
The writer
âTap tap tapâ the sound of a finger tapping against a wooden table, the manâs skin dark, he wore a dark blue coat, underneath the lapel and top collar had stitched a white fur coat like someone had took the fur of a winter coat and sewed it underneath it, pink jewels decorated the buttons that closed off his coat.
The man looked down at his typewriter with his blue eyes, in them there was a hint of pink, that matched with his light pink hair, almost as if someone took a pink marker and drew a perfect line on the underneath part of a blue circle, without the color mixing or smudging, he glared down at the typewriter before sighing, he had been like this for weeks, needing of inspiration, wanting to be freed of the chains labeled with a sign and dark sharpie âWriters blockâ, it was suffocating for him, he had never taken this long to write a single page or even a whole chapter.
Gabriel Storms is a semi famous writer in sumeru, born in Snezhnaya, but moved as a child and was raised in sumeru, he writes romance books and some are just books of places and things he has done, alongside photos of amazing scenarios, now that heâs back at home, inspiration has gone dry, he sighed as he grabbed the cup of whiskey from the table and slowly sipped it before he stopped, an idea, he put the cup down before he fixed the sheet of paper and slid it to the right, soon typing away, the noises of the keys werenât too loud and thankfully the place was though, though he couldnât tell.
As he kept typing down he kept writing, at least an hour of uninterrupted work, till it was interrupted, someone behind next to him was pushed around and ended almost on top of his table, though he was lucky enough to be alright, but Gabrielâs typewriter wasnât, as the guyâs ass stumbled on to the table he made it told slightly, Gabriel didnât have time to think before heâs typewriter was soaked with whiskey, he cursed under his breath as he went to glare at the guy that moved his table but he was already gone, angry, he packed his typewriter in its suitcase before leaving Lambadâs tavern, sure it wasnât a very good place to write but usually it wasnât that full to be bumping into stuff and making a mess, he wasnât even the slightest mad that heâs work was ruined, he was more mad that his typewriter would probably need fixing from water damage
âHey there Gabriel!â Someone called out in the distance, but Gabriel didnât budge as he kept walking before the guy quickly stopped Gabriel as he ran in front of him and raised his hand painting, it was Aarav, a guy that worked at the same company as him, Gabriel only stared at him with a deathly glare with a hint of confusion, Aarav gave him a nervous chuckle as he recovered from his short breath, seeing as Gabriel didnât look too good in a mood, he quickly talked or better said signed
âPlease be at your desk this afternoon, theirs a letter requesting youâ he signed, Aarav was the messenger boy, he thankfully was thoughtful enough to leak some sign language for Gabriel as not everyone in the company did, he could read lips, but his boss felt it was necessary to have someone that could communicate fluently with him so he put Aarav to the task, Gabriel is deaf, since he was a teen, so everyone was careful around him not to be too insensitive, Gabriel always saw it as pity, but never commented on it since he thought it only made them act more careful if he pointed it out.
âNot sure if Iâm able to work, I need to get my typewriter checked, and probably a replacement until itâs done getting checked or fixedâ he sighed as he finished his sentence with his last sign
âDid it broke? I donât think is gonna be a problem to borrow oneâ he gave him a confused look âalso I think the letter is from monstat, the name sounded familiar from one of the farmersâ he then looked around before he started walking, noticing they would be late if they kept standing around
âNo it did not break, some guy pushed my table and gave my typewriter a bath with whiskey, now stop talking and letâs get moving, youâll crash into something if you donât keep your eyes in front of youâ Gabriel finished signing, Aarav gave him an apologetic smile before he did as said and look up in front of him and kept walking.
The walk to the building wasnât to far, it was lucky for a man that carried a suitcase with a typewriter everywhere he went, but only lucky when he wanted a cup of whiskey, he wished that sumeru sometimes had a more reliable method of transport but he didn't complain, sumeru was a nice place, calm, at least to him.
Once in front of the building he looked up at it, its design puzzled him at times, the color of the building was a light shade of cream while plants and trees surrounded it, almost making it theirs, he found it strange and questioned how the building was still standing with that much green life.
Gabriel looked down at the entrance before walking towards the door, once inside he looked around, inspecting his surroundings, there was four to five people in the lobby seating around as they waited to be called, he let a low hum sound before he walked behind Aarav who requested him to follow, doing so he walked behind him, soon he had lead him to his bossâs office, he was confused as he thought they would put the letter on his desk but he guessed hes boss needed to talk to him.
Gabriel sighed as he entered the office and saw his boss, it was a woman with red hair and green strikes that ran down it, her hair was down and she wore the cultured robes of sumeru, she smiled at me before signaling him to sit down, gabriel cutting her off as he raised his hand to say he wasnât, the woman nodded her head in agreement as he wasnât gonna force him before looking up at him
âYour reading?â She asked and Gabriel nodded âgood, I know this isnât the usual way I give you assignments and I would like to apologize in ahead of time, since I know you like to be punctual and not have any surprises but I have to talk to you about this oneâ she grabbed an envelope from the side of her desk and handed it to him, Gabriel rose a brow before looking down at the envelope and opened it, he looked through the request before heâs shoulders tensed and he looked up at her
âInazuma?..â he asked as he looked back down making sure it was those same words. Inazuma, he heard that country was in lock down and a hot spot for casualties, even more because of the military, he sighed as he looked up at his boss who looked at him expectantly, he had a bad feeling of going over there, but it was his job and him being sent the letter, specifically him wasnât a coincidence, the thing that confused him was who was looking for him, was it a soldier in help, or was it someone that knew him? This request screamed danger and trouble, but he was stubborn and would do his job no matter what. He looked up at her before closing the request with a nod
âIâll go to Inazuma to write for the person Mrs.Weather, thank you for this chanceâ he stated, before giving her a bow and started to leave, Mrs.Weather grabbed her cane and smacked the end of it against the floor grabbing Gabrielâs attention rather by the vibration of the floor, Gabriel turned around to see her confused for the action thinking she might of knocked it off but Mrs.Weather wasnât done talking with him
âGabriel, after this assignment Iâll have you have a breakâ she grabbed a paper from the side before glancing over to Gabriel whoâs facial expression didnât change at all from a plain bore expression that didnât seem to leave his face
âThat isnât necessary-â He stated with a stern expression, almost annoyed
âGabriel you canât-â Mrs Weather cut him off as she wanted to argue back to him about his break but was cut right back off by the door as he left and slammed the door âWhat will I ever do with himâŚâ she whispered as she crossed her arms and huffed while glaring at the door, but noting nothing would happen from just starring she pushed aside that problem and focused on her work.
âSo? What is this important job?â Aarav signed with a confused expression, trying to catch up to Gabriel as to be sure to accompany him since he was his translator
âNot this time, your staying Aaravâ he said as he pushed him away, declining him as a partner for this job, Aarav was confused on why he couldnât go, he went wherever he went, why not this mission? He honestly felt a bit bummed that he couldnât go, he thought Gabriel as one of the coolest writers in the company, many did, he was very popular in his district so it wasnât a surprise for him to have; in his own words âa tiny admirerâ.
Once out of the building he sighed and looked through his list of to doâs, but slowly his eyes went wide as he was now close to the floor, someone had bumped into him and they were both falling, he quickly catched the guy and anything valuable of his as he cursed under his breath, not considering how heavy the other guy might be
âAh shoot! Iâm so sorry! Are you alright?â The guy asked as he got off of Gabriel and picked up anything else that fell off of Gabriel, the guyâs hair was red, his skin dark, as his hair seemed to cover his eyes, or atleast when his hair wasnât a mess, he had a pyro vision hanging from some straps that went around his shoulders and to his back, the more Gabriel examined him he noticed he wasnât from around here, he wasnât judging he was t from around here either, sure he lived here but he wasnât born here, he was an immigrant, but it was still rare to see someone from outside at times, maybe it was because he didnât really socialize or payed attention to his surroundings.
Gabriel was pulled out of his thoughts as the guy stood up and gave him his papers meeting out together
âAgain Iâm sorry if anything broke Iâll repeat youâ he apologized again, Gabriel looked at him intensely, anyone would confused it for a glare for how long he stared, only stopped when the guy seemed uncomfortable with the stare âhey are you-â he tried to talk to him again but Gabriel quickly ignored him, not exchanged any words with him as he grabbed his stuff with a tight grip and walked away as quickly as he could to his house, the second time in one day someone bumps into him, he was very annoyed, he already wanted to finish the writing request and he wasnât even in Inazuma, as heâs legs walked him around the corner quickly he slowed down when he noticed the guy was out of sight and he could now walk in piece, he had a feeling of DĂŠjĂ vu in his system like he had seen that man before and or the same thing had happened before, his eyes looked around the floor trying to remember where he had seen the man or what was the feeling directing him to but with a sigh and a glance to where he was walking he pushed the feeling aside to the man maybe being a past client.
He walked alongside the path and past the now closing stores before he noticed something was missing, cursing under his breath he turned on his heel and tried to run to the library before it closed, he ran as fast as he could to The house of Daena, and as he reached the door he was relieved to see librarian about to leave
âPlease!â He called, not to loud as he knew that in a place like where they were at his voice could be too loud, a deaf man could tell that if experienced or not, The librarian stopped before smiling at him âMy apologies Katayoun, I have to leave soon and I was told I could borrow a typewriter writer from here, is it true?â He asked her as he stabilized his breathing as he calmed himself and fixed his posture, The librarian thought for a second before smiling at him
âThere is a typewriter left on one of the tables, someone borrowed it and didnât put it awayâ she explained as she made sure to say her words where her lips could be read clearly, as she did not know sign language, felt kind of bad for not knowing it either but she was trying
âThank you, may I take it with me, where Iâm going Iâm afraid there would be no place where typewriters would sold or borrowedâ he asked, Katayoun smiled before letting a chuckle out as she covered her mouth
âIâm still surprised you ask me for them, but seeing as I cannot make you stop might as well get used to it, yes you can take it Gabriel, the company you work for is a great help and if anything is kissing we are willing to help, well at least meâ she smiled, Gabriel gave her a nod and a thank you before entering, she was leaving but didnât seem to be in a rush to close the place, he wondered if they locked up the place or guard it up.
His question wasnât answered as heâs attention was pulled away by something else, his eyes widened as he once again saw a flaming red colored hair in the library, it might of been a coincidence but he didnât like how this was the second time he had saw him
âHey come on guys, the guards need me to be sure everyone is outâ the librarian spoke in which Gabriel didnât have a response to but seeing the red head react to the voice made him react quickly, even though he wasnât sure of what was going on, if he saw him or not, he just needed the typewriter, so he quietly sped walk towards it, put it in his case and walked away as quickly as he could before he was out of the library
âThank youâ was the only thing he said before rushing out of the building and to the cold night green path, breathing a breath of clean air made his mode ease up a bit, as he was out of the place, he walked calmly to his house for about 10 to 15 minutes, but even after the walk, he was just glad tomorrow was close and he could get to Inazuma safe if Archons let him.

More obscure muses ( Introduction ) series.
Fandom: Skip Beat.
Muse #2- Ren Tsuruga / Kuon Hizuri
Age 20-22 ( manga and anime )
Ren Tsuruga, real name Kuon Hizuri, is an actor working for the entertainment company, LME. He is currently ranked Japan's most desirable man. Ren is a very strong-willed person. He can be childish and short-tempered when his real personality slips out. Ren is a people-pleaser and often hides his true feelings behind his "gentleman smile", which works most of the time. He is labeled by many as "The Co-star killer" for his ability to make his leading ladies fall in-love with him. He is also a model for a clothing line called R'Mandy.
Ren is very serious about his work, and will not act seriously with nor respect anyone who does not take pride in acting. Hence, he disliked Kyoko Mogami at first, because her motives for joining showbiz were "impure," as Kyoko herself puts it. Both Yukihito Yashiro and Lory Takarada noted that most of his past relationships were shallow. Lory points out that Ren has never really fallen in love before. Ren routinely skips or opts for convenient meals and is regularly chastised by Kyoko for his poor habits.
Ren works hard to maintain his "gentlemanly" image, so he does not let his temper get the best of him when Sho Fuwa knocks over an ash tray in front of him, nor ask for help when he doesn't understand lines because he is not a native Japanese speaker. It is also shown that Ren acts indifferent and calm when extremely happy. In times of extreme anger, he has been known to excuse himself from the room to collect himself.
It is later revealed that Tsuruga Ren is a mask for Kuon Hizuri. Ren is deeply disturbed when Kuon breaks free on the set of Tragic Marker. So far, Kyoko is the only one able to break him out of this state with her voice or actions. Lory is aware of this side of Ren and warns Kyoko of it without directly telling her about it. Yashiro also knows nothing of this personality, though he suspects Ren had a past that is different to his current facade.
Although Ren dislikes and even fears Kuon, his true personality is not entirely bad. He drops his Ren facade in Guam and interacts with Kyoko as his true self for a full afternoon. She instantly recognizes him as "the fairy prince" she met as a child. And the two of them reconnect, as if no time has passed. As Kuon, Kyoko is less guarded around him. Because Kyoko is so open with Kuon, Ren finds himself wishing on one occasion that he had not dyed his hair back to brown.
The public knows nothing about Ren's past and background. Only his parents and Lory Takarada know about his real background. Ren is revealed to be Corn, a 10-year old boy Kyoko Mogami met when she was six years old. Ren told Bo the Chicken ( in which Kyoko is actually inside the suit ) that he used to get fired all the time when he was starting in showbiz.
In truth, Ren's real name is Kuon Hizuri. He is the son of Kuu Hizuri and Juliena Hizuri, who are popular personas in showbiz in America. He was raised in America up to the age of 15. Kuon always lived in the shadow of his father's greatness. He tried to break into the show-biz world, only to suffer many rejections. Because of this, a darker side took over Kuon and he grew distant from his parents.
Flashbacks from his teenage years imply a violent past such as acting in gangs and getting into fights. Lory brought Kuon back to Japan when he was fifteen. It was then that he adopted the stage name "Ren Tsuruga" and went on to become the most popular male actor in Japan. Kuon has a Russian, American and Japanese mix heritage, which explains why he can speak Japanese, English and Russian fluently.

DAY 8 of the many face(les)s of midoriya izuku & bakugou katsuki
do you like rain?
The quotes in the back of page 1 are from this older comic I did. As for the next page, it's sort of the scene that I plan to write... sort of being that everything you see here is semi-canon at best. :)
Anyway, let us continue this angst train~! Hey, but at least Kacchan isn't "spirited away" this time, right? At least the one who got the death blow was Deku here... see, I don't play favorites :) Both of them get to suffer angst at equal intervals.
(Also, just because I feel like spelling out this entry, the horror of this piece is multifold. The horror of (potentially) losing (another) a loved one, the horror of death, the horror of disconnection.)
DAY 7.5 // DAY 9 & 10

Stephanie Misa, An altar for the fleshy tongue, 2022 Overview Stephanie Misaâs An altar for the fleshy tongue explores the relationship between language and colonization, questioning whether language can be passed down through generations as a sensory experience, even without direct teaching. This multimedia installation uses symbolic elements to highlight the disconnection caused by language loss and the difficulties in maintaining cultural identity across generations.
Critical Analysis
As someone who grew up in Guangzhou and struggled with not speaking Cantonese fluently, I personally relate to the themes in Misaâs An altar for the fleshy tongue. In my experience, language has been a major factor in shaping my sense of belonging, or lack thereof, within my own community. Just as Misa reflects on the difficulties of transmitting culture and language across generations, my inability to speak Cantonese has led people to question my identity as a local, even though I grew up in the city. This subtle exclusion, though rarely malicious, has had a deep impact on my identity, similar to the experience Misa portrays in her work.
From a curatorial perspective, this piece is also effective in how it engages audiences. Misaâs use of familiar yet symbolic objects, like chicken feet candles, makes the work accessible and relatable, even for viewers who may not have a direct connection to the cultural context sheâs referencing. The transformation of everyday objects into powerful metaphorsâsuch as the black and white contrast of the candlesâallows viewers to reflect on identity and cultural differences in a way that feels personal and immediate. This ability to invite participation and reflection makes Misaâs work a strong tool for reaching diverse audiences.
In terms of audience reach, An altar for the fleshy tongue would resonate with those who have experienced cultural disconnection, such as diasporic communities or immigrants who have had to navigate language barriers. For example, Chinese-Australians and other immigrant groups may find the theme of identity conflict relatable, particularly when language becomes a marker of inclusion or exclusion. However, the broader themes of language as a means of creating or losing identity make it accessible to a wider audience, ensuring deeper engagement from people with varied backgrounds.
In my own curatorial practice, I aim to integrate similar strategiesâusing symbolic, relatable elements to create space for critical reflection. Misaâs ability to provoke thought on personal and cultural identity, while making her work widely accessible, serves as an inspiring model for engaging audiences in discussions about language, belonging, and exclusion

Eve knew better than to bother Tareque when he was deep in his books, but sometimes she wanted attention...without actually asking for it. She didn't want to be a bother, but when she entered the room that particular day, she saw him floating, lost in a book translation of some sort, and she stretched a little in the doorway with a soft sigh. Honestly, she had been hoping he'd turn, but his attention didn't waiver as he moved to his chair, this time Eve moving a little closer and stretching more deliberately near the desk. This time, she gave a little groan, plopping down on his lap when she was finished arching her back a bit, quite aware she was interrupting his read. "Oh, I'm sorry...you're in the middle of something..."
@wildskissed dragging him out of the zone
Truthfully, he had been oblivious to her tactful maneuvers near the door. He was heavily engrossed in the tome in his hands, having finally pinpointed the proper tongue it's contents were written in. It wasn't one that Tareque spoke fluently, so the process was taking more effort than he had initially anticipate.
His notes were laid about, three or four different quills scattered around - one for each area he had papers strewn. If he kept up at this pace, he could likely have it translated within the next couple weeks--
And just like that, his focus was derailed. Tareque's eyebrows suddenly rose and he moved the book away as Eve found her preferred seat on his lap.
"I was," he admitted in stated past-tense, placing a marker in between the pages before he carefully closed it and sat the book aside. A smile appeared as he made himself comfortable, an arm circling around her. "And now my attention is for something far more important." The book had existed until then, it could handle being forgotten about for a little while longer.
