Bonnie and Clyde + The Barrow Gang plan the Eastham Prison raid:

Bonnie and Clyde were back in Texas after an ambush attempt. Ray Hamilton was incarcerated at Eastham when word got around and he began to resurrect Clyde's revenge plan to raid the prison. Ralph Fults originally planned the raid with Clyde years ago before Ray. But Ralph couldn't be included because he was jailed outside of town. That's when an Eastham convict named James Mullens came into the picture. James was 48 and bunked next to Ray at Eastham. He was about to be released after serving a 21 year sentence for robbery. The downside was that Clyde knew him to be a drug addict—unpredictable and wholly unreliable. Nevertheless, because he was due for release, Ray promised him $1,000 if he could locate Clyde and arrange to have a number of weapons planted in the prison farm compound.

On January 12, 1934, James visited the house of Ray's brother, Floyd Hamilton, hoping to contact Clyde through him. James then accompanied Floyd to a deserted road near Irving, TX. After waiting several minutes, a black V-8 pulls up alongside them. Bonnie and Clyde were inside, staring intently at James Mullens. James was just about the last person on earth Clyde wanted to see. Floyd and James outlined the plan to him as Clyde sat in peeved silence, playing with the safety catch on his automatic rifle. 3 things bothered him: Ray's big mouth, the memory of Ray's refusal to help with the raid in 1932, and James Mullens. Convinced that James was setting a trap, Clyde wanted no part in it unless James took front row action and planted the guns himself. James went pale. He turned to Floyd and said, "I'm not doing that alone. You're coming with me!" Floyd reluctantly agreed.

Before dawn on January 14, Bonnie and Clyde dropped off Floyd and a trembling James half a mile from the main prison compound of Eastham Camp 1. Floyd and James made it through the thick pine forest and through the barbed wire perimeter surrounding the prison. Inside a bound rubber inner tube, a pair of Colt .45 automatics were concealed beneath the drainage culvert near the woodpile at the prison's Camp 1. They exited across the brightly lit prison yard crawling on their hands and knees to the main road. At one point the camp dogs started howling and barking in their kennels, but the guards paid no attention. Clyde then drove to Dallas and dropped off Floyd, but he kept James in the car so he could keep an eye on him. He still didn’t trust James.

Floyd Hamilton returned to Eastham the following day for his regular biweekly visit with his younger brother, Ray, who was serving 266 years in prison for auto theft, armed robbery, and murder. During that visit, Floyd filled Ray in on the details of the prison break. On Monday, an inmate named Aubrey Skelley set out to retrieve the weapons. Aubrey was a building tender, a trusty position that allowed him to move about the prison with a certain amount of freedom. He managed to smuggle the inner tube into the Camp 1 dormitory and deliver it to Joe Palmer. Joe, serving 25 years for robbery, hid the tube and its contents in his mattress. Word that the break would take place the following morning reached the two other prisoners who would take part—Henry Methvin, serving 10 years for robbery and attempted murder, and Hilton Bybee. Hilton was a killer who tried escaping from the Wichita County Jail with Ralph Fults. At Ralph's request, he was added to the list.

The Current event makes me smile since it kind of confirms a headcanon I had that the Great Seven have animated movies based on them. Makes me wonder about the plot of the movies

Disney should get on the Twisted Wonderland AU Animated Remakes. What is Ursula was a good witch, what if Scar was right to take the throne and did he take it from Mufasa? (Or whoever is the stand in for him)

The Evil/Beautiful Queen...actually GOOD?

Yeah, it makes sense! Since the Great Seven are historical figures and the stuff of legends, surely there would be popular media made in their image. It’s like how the Disney fairy tales borrow from stories in the public domain or how there are historical retellings and reinventions (Hamilton, anyone?).

I believe TWST has mentioned films based on their own stories and history before too, but purely in the animated sense rather than live action. In book 3, Ace and one of the Atlantica Museum guards talk about an animated movie based on the tale of the mermaid princess and her prince; this movie is said to have come out ~30 years ago, which corresponds with Disney’s animated The Little Mermaid. Ace compliments the movie’s soundtrack too way to stroke your own ego, Disney/j.

Later on in Tapis Rouge, the characters discuss other films based on the Great Seven, including one Queen of Hearts movie. A Sea Witch movie is also mentioned; in it, she “goes gigantic” and also sings as she brews potions. The Octatrio quite enjoy this particular film.

(Side note: Another anon once suggested to me that people probably also write fanfics of Neige and Vil since they’re celebrities… Think like “My mom sold me to One Direction?!” Wattpad kinds of fics, but replace One Direction with Vil or something. You can read those post here!)

It’s… interesting this event specifically has Vil promoting a live action adaption of an in-universe animated film about the Beautiful Queen—an animated film which was the first full-color animated movie AND it originally released close to 90 years ago. They also reference the funding issues that Disney suffered while producing Snow White + inviting bank employees in to preview the movie to acquire more investments, stating that the studio that made the animated Beautiful Queen experienced the same. The in-game live action is even slated to come out “NEXT YEAR”. They’re not being subtle here with TWST’s references to their own version of the irl Disney Snow White (the live action is coming out in 2025, the OG is also almost 90 years old, etc.). I wonder if the EN server will actually get Tapis Rouge around the time of the irl release of Disney’s live action Snow White as part of a promotional campaign? 😂

UPDATE: There are even more not-so-subtle references to Disney animations in part 4 of the event, including discussion of cel animation, rotoscoping, adding blush to the characters, and how Disney brought in real animals/observed the “real thing” to help with animating similar scenes or subjects. They also cheekily say that most animation nowadays is CG 💀

I know some books under Disney publishing try to show alternate tellings or show the villains in a more sympathetic light, but I don’t know that they would ever commit to fully animating a film like that. It definitely would not happen in the style of traditional animation, Disney no longer seems well-equipped to handle that task 😔 I feel like it would also be pretty niche or might not get overwhelming positive reception with recent audience calls for “true bad guys” instead of twist or sympathetic villains (though I’m not sure what percentage of people watching Disney actually have this opinion).

I do wonder how those “AU” films would work though…? It wouldn’t be as simple as suddenly turning the G7 into “good guys”. The scenario and other characters would also have to drastically change. TWST doesn’t necessarily make the original “good guys” “bad” in a world where the villains are historical figures; we still hear plenty of positive or neutral stories about the achievements of the mermaid princess and other Disney heroes.

There are also times when the same story diverges into multiple separate stories that seemingly have no connection to one another. For example, there is a story where a princess marries a street rat (clearly referencing Aladdin) and they live happily ever after in spite of the difference in their social statuses. However, there simultaneously exists a story in which the Sorcerer of the Sands saves a princess from being deceived by a fake prince (also referencing Aladdin). The same goes for the mermaid princess (Ariel)—there is both a story referring to a “mermaid princess” who married a human prince and also a different story (clearly still pulled from the same film) about a mermaid who made a deal with the Sea Witch to find true love but broke her contract in the end.

Very cool idea, just not sure where it would lead or it it’s feasible or worth it monetarily for Disney.

Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd sold the rights to the music catalog of their songs. The deal with Sony amounted to $400 million.

The deal includes the rights to the band's name and portraits of its members, which allows Sony to sell related products (clothing, souvenirs, etc.), as well as produce films and television programs. And, of course, the rights to publish music in various formats. The copyright remained with the musicians.

This deal became another in the list of high-profile purchases of Sony Music that have already taken place, in the summer of 2024, it managed to acquire the rights to the Queen group's music catalog for $ 1.27 billion.

James Blunt

British pop-rock artist James Blunt promised on his social networks that he would change his name if the anniversary reissue of his first album Back to Bedlam (2004) again took first place in the British charts. According to the musician, fans will be able to choose a new name for him.

In 2005, 2.4 million copies of Blunt's debut album were sold. In 2009, their number reached 3 million, which made the longplay the best-selling in Britain in the 2000s. The release includes hits such as You're Beautiful and Goodbye My Lover.

Back to Bedlam will be re-released on October 11.

Life after Aerosmith continues.

Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton said on social media that his new band Close Enemies will give their first concert on October 11 in Nashville. The band also includes drummer Tony Brock, vocalist Chasen Hampton, guitarists Peter Stroud and Trace Foster.

In his post, Hamilton wrote:

"Hi, I need to tell you something about a band called Close Enemies that I play in. We have a bunch of good songs recorded. We are going to release one of them very soon. Meanwhile, on October 11, we are performing in Nashville at an institution called the Eastside Bowl. Please come!"

Later, the bassist also added that the band rehearses a lot: "The songs sound amazing."

A book about Bon Jovi will be released for the band's 40th anniversary.

Genesis Publications and Bon Jovi have announced the book "Bon Jovi Forever". BON JOVI gave Genesis unprecedented access to their entire archive to create an exciting journey through 40 years of the band's history, during which she created 16 albums.

Jon Bon Jovi says: "I never planned what I want people to feel when listening to our songs. But when you compose, it's often the songs that are closest to you that pass the test of time and turn out to be closest to others. If the song is written from the heart, and not just 'worked out', there is a high probability that the listener will find something important in your story."

John himself and his colleagues actively participated in the work on "Bon Jovi Forever", so the publication will have the status of an official one. The exact date has not yet been announced, but it is already known that the book will be available both separately and as part of a box set, which will also include an exclusive seven-inch vinyl record.

The trailer for the documentary "Elton John: Never Too Late" has been released.

"The film follows Elton John as he looks back on his life and the amazing early days of his 50-year career on this emotionally charged, personal and inspiring journey," the synopsis says. - As he prepares for his last concert in North America, at Dodger Stadium, Elton takes us back in time to talk about the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, violence and addiction to become the icon he is today.

The documentary, directed by R. J. Cutler and David Furnish, premiered on September 6 at the Toronto Film Festival. The world premiere will take place on December 13 on Disney+.

Legendary Yes and King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford, who worked as a liaison with music for 15 years, returned to the stage as a special guest of the British jazz band Pete Roth Trio.

The band's website uses the phrase "jazz without borders". The musician is comforted that "they are creating jazz for a new worship of music that is free from the usual jazz stereotypes."

Bruford announced that he would start recording and releasing soon, on January 1, 2009. His last public concert with Earthworks took place on July 31, 2008. After retiring, Bruford earned a doctorate in music from the University of Surrey and wrote an autobiography, "Bill Bruford: The Autobiography. Yes, King Crimson, Earthworks and More”, which received many positive reviews.

With the exception of a brief participation in the Ann Bailey's Soul House cover band, Bruford's single foundation for the drum kit took place in 2023 at a concert in memory of John Wetton, who participated in the song "Let's Stick Together".

The British band The Cure

She confirmed rumors that their album "Songs Of A Lost World" will be released on November 1. The longplay will be the first for the artists since 2008.

The band also presented the first track from the release of "Alone". According to The Cure's frontman Robert Smith, the nearly seven-minute song helped him understand the focus of the entire album.

The full-length album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales. The gloomy, minimalistic cover was created by a long-time colleague of the team, designer and photographer Andy Vella. The work depicts the 1975 sculpture Bagatelle by Slovenian Janez Pirnat.

Ozzy Osbourne named the most favorite song from his repertoire.

"I have a real weakness for the ballad Mama, I'm Coming Home. The lyrics were written by Lemmy — but I described to him exactly what I wanted to say in it, that is, I set the content," says Ozzy in an interview with Classic Rock. "But I'll tell you what, I don't really have a personal favorite. People always ask me which is my favorite album that I've made — and I don't have one! All my recordings reflect either the fun and chaos or the terrible circumstances that happened to me. Each of them is a reflection of me at that time."

The song "Mama, I'm Coming Home" was released as the second single from the album "No More Tears" in late November 1991. It was one of two collaborations with Lemmy on the album, the other being "Hellraiser".

In an interview with Classic Rock in 2013, Lemmy recalled how he came up with the lyrics of the song.

"I came up with this song," said the late Motörhead leader. "He sent me a text about what he would like to sing, and I think he gave me the title, but that's it. I'm good at it because that's how I write our songs — I come up with a title, and then I write a song based on it. Later, Ozzy and I were doing an interview in the same tent at this festival, and one guy asked: "The song Mama I'm Coming Home is the most personal thing you've written. Was she a big jerk to you?" And Ozzy just said, "He wrote it!"

The frontman of the British band Coldplay, Chris Martin, sang one of the new songs of the band in a karaoke bar in Las Vegas under the guise of another person.

Chris Martin took to the stage in a baggy suit, wig, glasses and with an inflatable balloon in his hand. In a local bar, the musician performed the song "All My Love". This track will be part of the band's upcoming album "Moon Music", which is scheduled for release on October 4. There will be a total of ten tracks in the longplay.

In August, Coldplay's "Music of the Spheres" tour became the highest-grossing rock tour of all time. Before that, the record belonged to Elton John.

Ringo Starr announced the cancellation of concerts in Philadelphia and New York due to his illness.

According to the artist's representative on social networks, Ringo caught a cold and the doctor advised him to rest. Starr played a total of 10 concerts before falling ill. His All-Starr Band now includes Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Hamish Stewart, Gregg Bissonnette and Buck Johnson.

Maelstrom = I think Floyd just calls him "Maelstrom;" in the game, Floyd tends to call his Octavinelle partners by their normal names. Now, granted, this could just be because Azul and Jade have ALWAYS just been "Azul and Jade" to him, but considering Maelstrom is LITERALLY a mer-person, I don't think calling him some kind of analogous name would even make sense.

im seeing ferrari fans worried that lewis hamilton fans are going to be awful about ferrari if ferrari dont prioritize/treat lewis as the main driver. as a ferrari fan in most all motorsports i completely understand that sentiment because the team is very much worthy of respect! HOWEVER—

that is in no way going to be comparable to the racism lewis is going to face now hes a ferrari driver. a lot of europe has some naive ideas about their nationalities and racism and that allows it to run rampant in many countries. the moment tifosi perceive him as unappreciative of his seat or ungrateful towards the team or not a team player (accusations which have been leveled against lewis before) its going to be a fucking nightmare for him and every black f1 fan who ends exposed to that shit.

Floyd Hamilton, brother of Raymond Hamilton:

Floyd Hamilton served 22 years in prison, 12 of those years were spent in Alcatraz, for armed robbery. He had been at one time denoted as FBI’s “Public Enemy No. 1” and he used this title as the name of a book recounting his life story. Floyd had met Bonnie when he was 12 and Clyde when he was 14. Because of their early friendship with the pair while living in the same neighborhood, Floyd and his brother became associated with them and participated in their criminal activities. He smuggled food to Clyde and Bonnie when they were on the run and arranged meetings between the notorious bank robbers and their families. Floyd wrote in his book that Dallas law officers once offered him $5,000 to arrange the arrest of Bonnie and Clyde. He refused the offer.

just had a crazy idea for a new au and i wanna see what you guys think

i’ve decided to call it…

i know there is a trolls actor au but this is a little different. basically i got this idea after having an idea about john dory playing alexander in the musical ‘hamilton’.

anyways what happens is after brozone gets back together and they’ve been settled for a while, john dory decides he wants to try something new so he auditioned for the troll version of the musical ‘hamilton’ and ends up getting getting alexander.

he doesn’t tell anyone about it until the day before tickets start going on sale and everyone is like “what the actual f*ck” but they’re very excited and happy for him.

brozone + poppy & viva obviously go for his first performance and safe to say they absolutely loved it.

i’ve not developed anymore ideas yet but i really like this idea so i just wanted to get it out on here and so feel free to let me know what you think about it!!

(i totally didn’t come up with this au because im a huge theatre nerd-)
