Tumblr media
The great King of FlowerFruit Mountain parades his new wife to his monkey people subjects.
Some people call it a "kidnapping". Others call it "surprise engagement".

A love potion for wukong x fem!reader :3
More so that the potion enhances the feelings one has for their supposed crush. Maybe wukong just found it somewhere in his pile of random crud he’s got in his room, can’t read the label and hey, looks peach colored enough, so why not ey? lol
Lmao, i love it! Let’s do it!-cherry🍒
Wukong taking a love potion.
Tumblr media
When he first found the potion in his room, ngl he was just the tiniest bit suspicious.
But after awhile he just Said “fuck it” and tried it out.
This dumbass mf 💀
So when he Saw you just minding your buisness, playing with the little monkey’s on flowerfruit mountain, oh boy you were in for a treat.
The whole He would be a lot more affectionate, giving you lots of hugs and pet names.
but he also kinda, accidentally confessed his love to you.
Wukong: “i love you so much peaches <3”
You: “i love you to- Wait what!?”
Yeah safe to say he had a lot of explaining to do in the morning 😭
A/N hiii! I am so sorry This is so short but i am on a bit of a time crunch at the moment. But i hope you like it!

2 monkey ship WIPs, both are Liu'er Mihou x Sun Wukong, but from different iterations (one from LMK, the other from Legend of Flower Fruit Mountain)
I know LMK Shadowpeach is well known (and for a good reason!!!), but I'm telling all y'all, ya sleeping on the boys from Legend of Flower Fruit Mountain!!! They don't have a ship name for them specifically yet, but I like to refer to them simply as Flowerfruit (🪻🍑 in contrast to 😈🍑).

I've been rewatching lmk and paying a little more attention to dialogue and came to a realization I probably should have before.
Lego monkey kid doesn't follow the exact word of Journey to the west. Especially with Macaque and WuKong's relationship (friends or otherwise)
Yeah Macaque makes the comment about reading the books but it's not exact
My biggest "hang on a second" is the part about "this mountain has been my home just as long as yours" implying he and WuKong both lived on Flowerfruit in their youth and the BIGGEST thing is if Macaque did the things he did in the book, like killing and eating a monkey, why would the monkeys snuggle up to him so readily?
I'm also going off of the theory that the monkeys we see are monkeys that Sun WuKong scribbled out of the book of death (although macaque only mentions WuKong writing his own name out)
I'm just liking looking at how different the book canon is to the Lego canon
Also WuKong knowing Red Son at his birth rather than later in his life should have tipped me off but I'm not talking about that right now

Journey to the West Chapter 2
Tumblr media
I love how small Sun Wukong's natural form is compared to most of the demons he fights lol.
Anyways for Chapter 2 of Journey to the west with @journeythroughjourneytothewest we get a new case of Sun Wukong crying (Because his teacher kicked him out which...harsh...)
And some fun new crimes! Including what will soon be the very popular murder (Monstrous King of Havoc) and Mass murder (The imps that worked for him) Bringing his kill count up to 1 + an unknown number. We also get to add arson to the list, because he set the cave on fire before he left. Luckily he was able to save all his captured monkey friends though. He also got some major power ups this chapter, gaining most of his most famous abilities like shapeshifting, flying and duplication. I'm sure his training montage will serve him well in the future. Other thoughts:
I found the whole situation with Sun Wukong getting kicked out pretty sad- but also really interesting. The Patriarch says he won't condemn him, but goes on to say that Monkey is bound to end up evil doing. I wonder if this was a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy there? He also was kicking him out because he felt Wukong was putting his life in jeopardy if he showed off his powers- But also threatened to skin him alive and break all his bones if he dared mention him. Which Wukong said he would say he learned it all himself- but did tell his monkey family that he was taught by a master, but I guess he didn't mention anything else about said master so it still counts as keeping his word I suppose. Another thing is that Sun Wukong really wants to repay people who do things for him, despite wanting to go home and see his subjects again, he didn't want to leave before he had properly repaid him. Which I feel is an important quality of his during the journey. Also, he gave all the monkey's of Flowerfruit mountain his last name- so now they are all the Sun family. Aww that's cute. Current Sun Wukong Stats:
Immortality: 1 Weapon: Himself. Abilities: 72 Transformations, Cloud-Somersault, Ability to transform his individual hairs and super strength. Demon Kill Count: 1 + Unknown number of minions. Crime List: Robbery, Murder, Mass Murder, and Arson. Cry Count: 2

Quiet day
it’s my birthday! wooooooooo i’m ancient now.
Have a self indulgent “Wukong struggles with the passage of time” fic because i can and this has been sitting in my drafts for a month.
AO3
words: ehhh like 1k
Have you ever noticed that you’ve gotten used to the quiet?
The warm light of the lantern hanging from above flooded through Wukong’s cracked eyelids. Throwing an arm over his face, a sigh escaped his lips. His fingers drummed against his skull in an old rhythm of a dance he couldn’t quite remember the steps to. It had to be at least two millennia ago. Where’d that even happen anyway? Who was he with?
Echoes of disjointed sensations were all the sage could recall, which was not unusual for a being as old as he. The brush of cloth on his skin, his feet hitting the floor until they ached, spinning on and on and onwards. A festival perhaps? He recalls the smell of the food-rich air, a wild excitement crackling like lightning in his veins, and…oh. Wine. a lot of wine.
A chuckle fell from his lips.
That was a long time ago.
Gods, he’s getting old. Why so nostalgic all of a sudden?
Dragging his arm back and peering upwards through his loosening fingers, Wukong couldn’t help but stare at the rays of light pouring through his lax grip. It wasn’t unlike laying under the thick branches of flowerfruit mountain.
Wukong never considered himself old…mentally, that is. As the years went by though, he could feel himself becoming more and more complacent. Content to sit and watch the world go by. To watch it bloom, wither and die only to sprout from its own remains again.
He felt disconnected from it. An observer watching a never-ending cycle repeat until time itself runs out. His memories meld together into an indistinguishable blur, only solidified by the stories scholars tell and ghosts of sensations the king recalls. In a way, he was perfectly fine to let those memories fade and die as the rest of his past did. Maybe there was some reason for mortals' demise. I mean, he could barely recall some of the things he’s done in his life until someone asks him to recount the tale.
Wukong shifts, adjusting himself more comfortably into his couch. his ears twitching towards the timeless sound of the monkey's play.
Some things never left him though. Like the weight of the circle upon his head, the scars that still ache when it rains, and the dreams he has almost every time he sleeps. The dreams are disjointed and chaotic, blurry images paired with unintelligible voices painted with an urgency he didn’t understand. A language he no longer spoke.
He’d drag himself out of bed, still burdened by the weight of the long restless nights. His body felt more like a vessel than actually him these days, with aching scars and calloused hands serving as a constant reminder of his age. His eyes, once full of the curiosity and excitement of youth, were now weary and dull, stained by smoke.
No matter how desperately he tried, he could never truly rid himself of the ghosts of his past. The faces of those that stood before him remained as their names faded. But he could feel their presence. Looming over him—lingering.
The feeling of nothing shook him to his core at times. The realization that another year had passed without so much a blink of an eye rattled him. Seemingly going in and out of some sort of fugue state. One moment it was spring, the next thing he knew snow had fallen.
The lights between his fingers danced timelessly before his eyes. Sighing, he rubbed his eyes, not quite sure if he’d be able to summon the strength to roll off the couch. You’d think he’d be better at this by now, but he wasn’t.
The faint murmur of someone lecturing echoed in his mind, ever so faintly, teasingly just out of earshot. As if they were standing just outside the door. He couldn't quite make out the words, but it was a voice he knew all too well - one of reprimanding before a punishment.
The voice seemed to grow closer, as if the person was getting impatient. Frustrated, he strained his ears, desperate to understand what was being said. Yet it still stayed just out of reach, frustrating him even more.
“Monkey King!”
The sound of his successor's voice made the sage jump, snapping him out of whatever masochistic reverie he had been swimming in. MK had a knack for doing that. Always seeming to know when to come knocking. Like a ray of the sun leaking through the fog, shedding light on the world around him.
“I brought some noodles cause Pigsy said you were more mopey than usual.” MK casually swung open the creaky door of the cottage and waltzed inside.
“I don’t mope, I brood. There’s a difference.” Wukong mumbled, defeatedly sitting upright. The inviting aroma of fresh food wafting through the cottage for the first time in weeks.
“Yeah yeah I’m sure there is in your world, now eat up before I have to call in your entire army to cheer you up.” MK says, pulling out a chair and sitting in front of the sage.
Wukong chuckled, unwrapping the bag and peering inside at the warm food that awaited him. MK looked on expectantly, while pulling out his own smaller serving.
“Dig in.” MK encouraged, as he continued struggling with the packaging on his own serving. Wukong was not daft, quite the opposite. He understood perfectly well that his apprentice was concerned about him, watching him like a hawk to ensure that he was eating.
Sometimes he forgets how observant his student could be. Beneath the happy go lucky demeanor, MK was sharp as a tack. Wukong, after all, took pride in his ability to act like there was absolutely nothing wrong even during his... episodes.
Yet, despite all these measures and precautions, MK saw right through him and never failed to show his concern.
With an ancient mischievous twinkle in his eye, Wukong tilted the container of noodles back and devoured the entire thing in one single fluid motion. The sound of MK’s snort was the prize he had won, as he raised the empty container in a mock victory, as if displaying an achievement for all to see.
“All gone!” He set the remains of his massacre to the side, settling comfortably into the couch. The tension and unknowing of earlier dissipated with the laughter of another.
“You are one crazy old man.” MK snorted, bringing his own noodles to his mouth.
“I prefer the term eccentric, actually.” Wukong replied in an exaggerated tone before unleashing a loud belch the likes of which gods would fear.
“See, If you had burped like that in the Lady Bone Demon’s direction you could’ve one-shot her” MK mumbled, his mouth full of noodles as he leaned back in the chair.
“You know, in all my years of living, I’ve never had someone bring such a good point to my attention.”
“That’s what I’m here for, remember? To challenge an old man’s ideas.” MK teased, fishing around the bottom of his own noodle container for the scraps of a meal now eaten.
“Yeah yeah, now hand over the remote.” Wukong dismissed with the wave of his hand. MK expertly tossed it over, eyes casting themselves towards the television.
“Quiet day?”
“Quiet day.”
MK nodded knowingly, shifting himself into a more comfortable position.
“I was thinking you’d show me that series that you always talk about. That uh…what’s it called?” Wukong struggled to recall the name of the show he was referring to. It was on the tip of his tongue.
MK's face instantly lit up with excitement, clearly knowing exactly what his teacher had been trying to remember.
"I know! You mean the show about the superhero team," he interjected excitedly, finishing his master's sentence for him with a smile. "I think you'll love it! It's all about this group of crime fighters who use their powers to protect the city and take down villains—“ MK rattled on about the plot as Wukong pulled it up, adjusting himself as to be facing both the screen and his student.
Sometimes, a new kind of quiet can shake things up. The quiet doesn’t have to be spent alone

The Sun and The Moon Meet
For my Phoenixeclipse Fic - Sun Wukong and The Six Eared Macaque's first meeting. Macaque goes to flower fruit mountain for the first time to meet this monkey king and the two fall in love at first sight. Sun Wukong ever one to make impulsive decisions makes one immediately upon seeing the pearly white monkey.
Hidden within the shadows, Macaque stepped onto the island for the first time his six ears listening to every slight movement and sound. A smirk covered his face as he made his way Into the lush forest. He had heard all about the Great Sun Wukong the Monkey King and had grown intrigued. Curiosity took hold and he found himself wandering towards flowerfruit mountain.
It took him a few weeks but he was used to travel so he didn’t mind. His violet eyes looked around, the shadows thickened as he passes each one to help cover his pearly white fur. He grinned as he watched a small group of cubs run beside him not noticing anything off. Of course they couldn’t see him, no one could he was a master of disguise and shadows after all.
With the boost in ego some of his caution left, not all of it but enough for him to stoll through the forest faster. His six ears picked up the sound of a village of no regular monkeys but rather demon monkeys. There. He was going to look there.
As he came upon the village he noticed everyone was sitting around a large table. There weren’t many demon monkeys as they were very rare normally but the group had about twenty there. His eyes suddenly stopped not on the regular demon monkeys but rather the celestial primate who was at the center of attention.
He froze his whole body went still and his eyes widened. Dark golden fur covered his body, glittering under the sun, a dark red heart shaped mask surrounded his eyes and more red come out from his bottom lip down his chin, and his eyes were a bright gold. He wore a simple robe but wore a crown on his head as he jumped around with joy. He was… absolutely stunning.
Macaque was so enthralled with the Monkey King he didn’t make sure his white fur wasn’t visible from within the Shadow and he froze when the other primate caught sight if him.
>>><<<
“My King! The feast has been prepared,” Ba shouted as he ran up to his king. He was one of the very few who attended this special occasion.
Sun Wukong grinned as he set his newly ‘obtained’ crown on his head. Showing off his fangs he bounded after the other monkey demon. This was the first feast he would have after he proclaimed himself as King and he wished for only his closest to be there for him.
The day was filled with joy and laughter as Sun Wukong bathed in the attention of the others. Of course he was at the center, its what he deserved after all. Spinning on his heel he laughed before something caught his eye. A flicker of white within a dark patch of shadows.
Turning to fully look he froze at what he saw. It was another Monkey demon, one he had never seen before. Dark violet eyes gazed back at him. His eyes were surrounded by a violet feathered mask and more violet came out from his bottom lip down his chin. Pearly white fur glittered before a thick layer of shadows was cast over it and the Monkey disappeared into the trees.
“Hey! Wait!” Sun Wukong called as he began to chase the other Monkey. He saw him, so beautiful with those wide eyes and a wide grin before he disappeared. He wouldn’t allow him to escape no! No one escaped him.
He chased after the Shadow, keeping his eyes on the streak of shadows and white. He smirked to himself when more of his fur became visible. He was worried and fearfully running no doubt he saw Wukongs magnificence and thought twice about picking a fight. But~ Wukong had already seen him and had no intention of letting him leave.
Jumping through the trees Wukong found his target and pounced. He ripped Macaque right out of his shadow and they tumbled to the ground where Wukong pinned him. Panting in excitement Wukong grinned widely only for his jaw to drop when he half laid on his target. On either side of his head were the most beautiful six lotus shaped ears he had ever seen.
“So pretty,” he muttered petting one which immediately made Macaque flustered.
>>><<<
Fuck! He wasn’t supposed to get caught. The minute he noticed Wukong staring he darted, what else was he supposed to do. He had a plan that immediately fell apart. He was going to watch his target not get caught by him!
Of course his new plan to escape didn’t go as planned either when he was tackled. His back hit the ground with a thud and his eyes widened in shock, awe and fear.
He watched as the Monkey was about to say something only for his jaw to drop and the words seemingly caught in his throat.
“So pretty,” he muttered bringing his hand up to pet one, causing shiver down his spine and his face to heat up.
“What are you doing!?” Macaque squealed trying to escape the grasp of the Monkey King. Of course it didn’t work.
The around his wrists only tightened as the Monkey King’s tail started to wag happily. He leaned in until they were nose to nose and laughed happily. “You are so pretty. I think I wanna keep you.”
Macaque blinked in shock staring up at the king who was happily looking at him with a wide grin. “What?”
“I said I’m going to keep you,” Sun Wukong repeated with a goofy smile his tail wagging excitedly.
“Keep me? I am no pet your majesty,” Macaque responded sarcastically before attempting to twist out of his hold.
He froze when Wukong leaned down and breathed in his ears. A shiver ran down his spine. He gulped before staring at the other monkey. There wasn’t much he could do anyways but he couldn’t figure out how to respond. He was speechless, fuck-
“Mmm~ of course not. I’ll keep you as a mate!” he responded his tail wagging as his eyes lit up.
“What!? You can’t just decide that! This is not how courtship goes at all!!” Macaque shouted his face and ears now a scarlet red as he blushed.
This was so embarrassing. He should have listened to Iron Fan but no, he decided he wanted to meet the Monkey King so here he was ‘meeting’ the Monkey King.
“Oh~ But we are demons and as a demon I take what I want and I want you~” He giggled his tail wagging faster before beginning to thump on the ground.
“And if I reject?” His words caught in his throat.
“You won’t, I can smell your heat and your want from here? Isn’t that why you came here? So you could claim THE SUN WUKONG THE MONKEY KING, for yourself~” he leaned closer breath on the moon monkey’s face as he looked at his new ‘mate’ lustfully.
“I-I…”
“You are so cute~ And you came at the perfect time too. Unless you don’t want me to mate with you,” Wukong teased, and Macaque blushed harder at the direct words.
This wasn’t how this was supposed to work not at all! He didn’t think this through, his plan had gone off the rails, his plans never fail! Of course the first time was with something like this. He couldn't stop the heat in his cheeks and it was infuriating.
He was about to retort something, anything when Sun Wukong pushed himself up and pulled Macaque with him. A cheerful smile across his face as he practically dragged the other all the way back to the crowd of people.
"I have an announcement to make! I have chosen my mate!"
"WHAT!?" His four generals shouted in unison with shock.
Macaque's ears rung and his head spun. He didn't know what to say or really do for that matter. His ears shot up and he relaxed at the future that the wind blew through his ears. Promises of love, trust and devotion. The future was never set in stone but this was one that he was willing to follow if it meant he could have this to himself.
He was a selfish demon after all and had no reason to reject such a powerful and handsome mate for himself.
"We have a queen!?" One shouted.
"Don't be rediculous, he shall be my king!"
"We have two kings!" One of them shouted and Macaque felt his heart swell with pride. He just became a king in the matter of moments.
>>><<<
For those who want to ask why Sun Wukong chose Macaque so fast- He's impulsive. That is all. Wait. And selfish. THAT is all. Good day and enjoy.

how common is it for adaptations to give stone monkey a (usually female) friend on flowerfruit mountain? i've noticed it in a couple adaptations and wonder if it comes from a specific adaptation
Funny enough YES!
At least I think we can all think of one man in particular for the common grey-fur monkey companion that Shihou/Wukong has...
And that is Tezuka Osamu!
I think it starts with his manga My SonGoku ぼくの孫悟空.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was first published in 1952 and has been quite influential in Japanese interpretations of Sun Wukong.
He was actually influenced by Tessen Koshu who made the Princess Iron Fan cartoon 铁扇公主 in 1941 with that kind of rubber hose kind of art style.
Tumblr media
Anyway, the main point is that this guy made a certain character at the start of his manga before Wukong left for his training.
"While Biko, a monkey born from a stone, starts as a shy crybaby, he becomes the king of the monkeys with the encouragement of a gentle sister monkey, LinLin. He learns Senjutsu, becomes Son Goku, and goes on a rampage in Heaven...
Sister edition of "Boku no Son Goku", girls' manga version "Journey to the West"."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Otherwise known as RinRin depending on how you translate it. Or even DeeDee or Reina. Depends on what you are looking at.
"RinRin-chan" The tomboyish monkey to the main character. She names the stone monkey Biko and takes care of him as an older sister."
I haven't read the manga (I don't know Japanese) nor do I understand how manga history in how this is both a "Hitomi" (Akita Shoten) 1960 serialization but I do know she is credited to Tezuka Osamu. And her influence has been in serial more of a couple of Japanese Xiyouji iterations.
Her next appearance being in ALAKAZAN THE GREAT Saiyuki ぼくの孫悟空 which was made in 1960. This was written by Baku Yumemakura who was a fan of Tezuka Osamu's works where she goes by RinRin. A pretty one-to-one look from what she looked like in the manga
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is also some inspiration in the 1967 Goku's Great Adventures 悟空の大冒険 but any female side character was replaced with a fairy-like person Tatsuko. She isn't Rinrin of course but I think that since this was also credited to Tezuka Osamu that having a pink-themed older sister character was what inspired her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was also a female monkey by the name of Fanya from the 1999 Magic Monkey モンキーマジックTV series that is more well-known for its video game. Not named Rinrin at all but... look at her. She gets TWO flowers in her hair and a pink theme. I know flowers and pink aren't the most creative choice for a girl monkey but that is a clear inspiration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She wasn't really seen by name until the 2003 movie, My Son Goku ぼくの孫悟空 where she was brought back by where she goes by Reina in the eng subs! Here her name is slightly different but I think that this might be my favorite version of her thus far! She is such a caring person and while he isn't in the movie that long she plays such an impactful role!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are mostly Japanese interpretations because of their tie with the My SonGoku manga but there are a few more giving Wukong a grey monkey friend in his Shihou phase in Chinese interpretations.
The only one I can think of that can be a real nod of acknowledgment is really 1999 Legends of the Monkey King 西游记 with an unnamed girl monkey (if she does have a name please let me know I've never learned it!) Love the change from pink to yellow, we are getting creative here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are all the examples I can think of at least in the media I've personally seen!
The only grey-furred sidekick thus far was LiuEr Mihou from Monkey King 2009 美猴王. I think this one might be more coincidental with the grey fur and the pink theme but that would be hilarious if it was to fit the 'childhood best friend' card that Rinrin, a completely different character, has set.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do find some comments on how LiuEr in this version took RINRIN'S place as the childhood best friend trope. Like that idea of Wukong in his Stone Monkey phase of life having a Best friend is now tied to the image of Rinrin! It is funny to think that out of all the interactions of giving Wukong sidekicks, this one seems to be a re-occurring one consistently. Sadly I haven't seen another version in nearly 20 years!! We've been deprived!
Will we see this character again soon? Hard to say considering it's been so long but I love that in at least 3 different Japanese Xiyouji interactions and a general nod in acknowledgment in 2 as well.
Tumblr media
Until we see you again beautiful queen!

Okay so, I have question about Godslayer AU, about MK meeting Red. You say he went into the forest of Heavens End. I don't know what exactly does that mean? Can you please explain? Also about his wards, they are monkeys, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Combining these three - "Heaven's End" is another name for Red! Sorta like how Wukong goes by 'Great Sage Equal to Heaven', Heaven's End is a title Red was given by mortals. So forest of Heaven's End just means Red's forest. The area around flowerfruit. And his wards are the magical things keeping his mountain and the monkies safe, like what Wukong has on the cave entrance. Only certain people (monkies) can open it up/pass through it.
Red doesn't actually know, really :) not for a while at least. For a while MK is just some weird kid that latched on to him and has powers - not that weird given their world. Red assumes he's probably just part demon or something, he doesn't think too much about it. But as time goes on...things get complicated, and it can start to hurt :)

oh and I guess it also helps that the creators aren't creepy about the two :| Having Jake as an outside party who is obviously gonna see his present brother and the person who technically is or was his brother as both still his brothers really makes the relation between Finn and Fern more obviously brothers in a fucked up timeline way. Makes you wonder how FlowerFruit Mtn would feel about SWK and Macaque hm. anyways sorry for infodumping in your askbox i love AT and LMK had missed potential (5/5
No worries anon! It's a neat thing to see other people's opinions on stuff, and I always appreciate it when people suggest stories I may like. And as such thanks so much for letting me know Fern and Finn exist! TBH there seems to be a LOT of stuff in Fern's story that I was hoping Monkie Kid's LEMH would get to do some version of, such as develop an identity outside of the Monkey King.
youtube
youtube
(Also as things stand with this comparison it's pretty morbidly funny that Finn seems to feel far more grief and guilt over Fern's initial death than lego show Sun Wukong ever showed for any of the stuff Macaque went through. That monkey watched his apparent bestest of besties blow up right in front of him and didn't give af like lmaooooo).
And on that note, it honestly is getting kind of comical how much recent stories handle the "doppelganger who wants to replace the hero" scenario more explicitly and tbh more interestingly than some more recent JTTW retellings do even though the True and False Monkey King arc is literally one of literature's oldest and most well-known "evil twin" tales lol. Well, I'll remain frustrated and baffled as to why so many western creators seem hellbent on completely rewriting the dynamic between Sun Wukong and the Six-Eared Macaque when there's just so much fascinating stuff you can do with the story as laid out in the og classic, but I am happy that with Fern and Finn there's at least one doppelganger story out there where the "evil twin" finds a way to reconcile with the original and even starts forging his own identity and independence. Hopes and prayers that maybe some day LEMH gets to do the same.

Liù'ěr Míhóu joins the jttw gang, or: How to redeem an all-hearing celestial monkey with a superiority complex and a seriously bad attitude
(A/N: TW: gender dysphoria [let me know in the comments, if I misrepresented it], mention of past SA and forced pregnancy)
Chapter Eleven: Yet another revelation
.
It had taken a few hours for Tripitaka to snap out of his stupor.
But once he had recovered, the monk was just as willing as the rest to accept Sūn Wùhuàn's true gender.
“I've never seen such a thing before. And it kind of fascinates me”, he admitted. “It's kind of messed up, but … it shouldn't be too hard to grasp. Your soul is male, but for some reason was incarnated into a female body. Did I get that right?”
“… I suppose you could say that.”
“That sounds like a painful existence.”
Sūn Wùhuàn sighed: “It is … at least to me. There are others like me, who cope with their body just fine. And then there are people like me, who can't stand theirs at all. I hate this … meat cage.” He paused. Then, as if deciding there would be no harm in it, he admitted: “I envy you all. Must be nice to look masculine enough to be accepted as such. And not be sickened by your own body.”
Tripitaka didn't know what to say.
He strongly believed in showing one's true self. But he had figured out by now, that telling his newest disciple to just embrace who he was, would be neither helpful nor appropriate in this situation. Not when Wùhuàn's true self was hurting like this.
But he had to say or do something!
“Uhm … Sūn Wùhuàn? May I ask you something?”
The Macaque shrugged. “Sure.”
“Why do you not focus on your soul, rather than the body that makes you so upset?”
Wùhuàn scowled: “You slaphead! Like that's easy! Every time I look at myself, every time I hear my own voice, every time these remind me of their existence-”, he pointed at his breasts with obvious disgust, “-and don't even get me started about the periods!”
Tripitaka's eyes widened. “Monkeys get those too?!”
The Six-Eared Macaque nodded. “Yeah, most of us do, including macaques like me and Wùkōng.”
“It's true!”, Pilgrim piped up. “Just as bad as humans too. Cramps, mood swings and everything. I got some basic medical knowledge just to help all female-bodied monkeys back home.”
Home? Oh right … Flowerfruit Mountain.
For some reason Tripitaka didn't know, the thought, that his first disciple had someone and something to return to, left a bitter taste in his mouth.
Meanwhile Pilgrim turned to Wùhuàn: “Speaking of which. Do we have to take precautions for your heat?”
Now Tripitaka's other disciples glanced over too, all with a look of concern.
Wùhuàn was deathly pale and had an expression of pure terror on his face.
“Shit!”, he whispered.
Tripitaka spoke back up: “What's wrong? What is a heat?”
Pilgrim explained: “Most animals and animalistic demons have a mating season, when they couple and reproduce. During that time period, female-bodied animals and demons go into heat. Their bodies feel like they're burning up from the inside, their behaviour and vocal pitch change and they give off a strong smell.”
“And that smell is irresistible for most male-bodied demons”, added Wùjìng. “They pretty much lose their mind and revert to basic instinct. No thoughts, just the want to breed.”
Tripitaka's face scrunched up. “That's disgusting!”
The Quicksand Demon sighed: “For most female-bodied demons it's nothing more than an inconvenience, since they have someone they trust to take care of them during that time period. But for those who don't have a trusted caretaker, it's Diyu on Earth.” He asked Wùhuàn: “Do you have someone?”
The Six-Eared Macaque shook his head and all six ears fell flat on his head. “No. normally, before that time comes, I go to hide somewhere, make preparations and tough it out, until my heat is over.”
“That's unhealthy”, Wùkōng told him.
“I know that!”, Wùhuàn snapped. “But what am I supposed to do?! If I don't find a perfect hiding place, some bastard will find me, use me as their cum dumpster and knock me up! I don't want that! I never wanted that!”
He faced away from the other pilgrims and sank his head.
The others remained silent, to give the Macaque time to compose himself.
But instead of calming down, the white monkey started shaking like a leaf.
Alright, enough is enough!, Tripitaka decided.
He approached the distressed demon and crouched down (ignoring his aching back) next to him.
In light of the sensitivity of the question he was about to ask, the monk lowered his voice to the point where only Wùhuàn would be able to hear.
“Wùhuàn?”, he whispered, making the macaque's six ears twitch. “Has it happened to you?”
Wùhuàn met the monk's gaze with a pained expression.
That was answer enough.
So Tripitaka opened his arms. “May I give you a hug?”
The Six-Eared Macaque swayed his head from side to side. He was considering it.
Eventually he mumbled: “'Kay.”

Tripitaka doesn't fully understand, but he's really trying here.

Some art and screenshot edits of my lmk oc!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Say hello to Amia, my lmk monkey oc!! She basically helps wukong out when he needs it, fights by his side and just kinda vibes with wukong and macaque.
After wukong gets trapped she stays at flowerfruit Mountain for a few years just confused where he went. Eventually she just goes "welp wukong isn't coming back and if he really needs me, he can come and get me" and she starts going on her own adventures, only returning to make sure the mountain is okay.
On one of her return trips wukong is finally back! She gets annoyed at him and he explains what happened. She goes "okay, cool, if you need me lmk cause I'm still wanting to go on adventures!". Every few years she does come to check on wukong, one of these times are out the end of season 4 after mk comes back from the celestial realm! MK fills her in on everything that happened and she offers her help!
(Hope my rambles make sense lol)

So fun fact- in Journey To The West there's just. A casual genocide that happens where Erlang Shen of Heaven razes Flowerfruit to the ground. Burns nearly the entire island to ash.
This happens after Wukong is sealed away. Reading between the lines it seems like Erlang got his little fee-fees hurt over Wukong being genuinely better than the entirety of the Heavenly army and waited until he was out of the picture to torture the monkeys for his wounded pride.
(After Erlang kills half the people of Flowerfruit with his destruction of the island, human hunters discover the vulnerable monkey population that survived that horror and decide to visit a new one on them by murdering them for meat and selling the ones they take captive to other humans. In case you thought genocide was an exaggeration. By the time Wukong is able to return home and put a stop to the hunters and restore the island's ecosystem there's only a thousand of his people left down from forty seven thousand.)
So you're wondering about the missing mansion? Bingo, there's your answer if lmk is going to stick to (or somewhat close to) the Journey To The West canon on that one. It is very likely that in the destruction of Flowerfruit Mountain, the fires destroyed the mansion.
If anything could destroy a stone mansion it's heavenly fire, after all.
YEP.
The only reason I don't think that's what makes Wukong destroy the mansion is cuz it IS still a kids show. So idk if they'd go the full genocide route. I'd love to see that, and it would 100% make sense for Wukong to lose his shit at that, but I don't think Flying Bark will go that direction. But I also wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Me: “Is that Lego Monkie Kid OC done yet?”
My brain: “Just making the final adjustments, host.”
~~
OK SO idea’s for ChuangZao Zhe. . . Her name is Feng Huang now. Or something along the lines of it. See, I was having thoughts to myself about her and I was like “Ok so why is her family so rich?” Well, think of Mei’s family. She’s a descendant of dragons, specifically the dragon of the West. Therefore, her family has a LOT of money and artifact. SO what if I do something similar with my OC? Now, obviously there isn’t any Chinese celestial or immortal or sage that have the same thing the dragons have. Dragons are dragons, and in LMK they take on form of a human to make themselves more mobile amongst the people. So, what if the OC was a descendant of phoenixes. She would have several other relatives, in fact they might just be a clan with relatives an non-relatives. I’ll have to look up which continent phoenixes would be most common. I’m pretty sure that Megapolis is located in the Eastern Continent of Superior Body(which would technically be Asia if you think about the geography and the time period JTTW was written in), but I’m not sure if the phoenixes would live there too because there are phoenixes on the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit. But considering how Lego Monkie Kid isn’t a direct sequel to JTTW and is only roughly based off of it, the mountain is Flowerfruit Mountain and we see no sign of life except monkeys and bugs on it. But there could be a possibility that the phoenixes didn’t go extinct, they just went somewhere else. So maybe they went somewhere else and started a clan and the OC’s full back story goes along the lines of running away because she was gonna be married off(which I was gonna do anyways) but it was because he needed to spread the phoenix blood.
If it wasn’t obvious, I think really hard about these things.
So now about her name. I was thinking Feng Huang because that’s the Chinese Phoenix’s name: Fenghuang. However, while I would like to have that as her name I think Huang isn’t a name that fits her. So of course, her family’s surname would be Feng or Fenghuang. As for her first name, I’m not sure if I should keep an aspect of “ChuangZao Zhe” as the name or find something entirely different.
~~
ChuangZao Zhe consists of three Chinese characters:
创 (Chuang) — “Create”
造 (Zao) — “Make”
者 (Zhe) — “By”
So clearly, none of these would work because either one of these with “Phoenix” as a last name would be weird. So now it’s time to try aspects of her character:
女儿 (Nu’er) — “Daughter” referencing how she is the daughter of a pure phoenix.
宝石 (Baoshi) — “Jewel” referencing her jewels in the beginning of the fanfiction that I’ll write.
项链 (Xianglian) — “Necklace” referencing to her necklace.
冷静 (Lengjing) — “Dispassionate” referencing her constant state of lack of emotion, unless provoked(Only in Red Son/OC which is most likely).
I’m kinda going for Feng Lengjing or Feng Xianglian. Either one, this is going to be her new heritage and it will definitely be very interesting involving this in any story I write her in.
