Skydiving Salamanders
Tumblr media
The wandering salamander can spend its entire 20-year lifespan in the canopy of a coast redwood. When predators come calling, they have a special skill that helps them get away: skydiving. (Video and image credit: Deep Look; see also C. Brown) Read the full article

WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK, BURBANK TOWER?!
You're flying Southwest so low that you're literally rattling my dishes! No joke, I went outside and could see into the landing gear wells. If you give them a lower altitude on the next one, I'll have to open my bedroom window to let them in and the front too to let them out.

Is it weird to think Bakugo may have a fear of flying?
Imagine going somewhere with him and you have zero idea he’s never flown before, never left Japan or needed to even go to an airport. His parents never dragged him along on any work trips and usually he’d take the train to go wherever he needed. His deep scowl and grumpy demeanor through the airport you chalk up to his default attitude, but then you get on the plane and start to see his anxiety physically manifest. You sit down in your seats and he’s white knuckling the poor arm rest as he’s staring out the window, trying to calm himself down. It isn’t until your hand gently runs over his that you see his shoulders relax, even a little bit, and you keep talking to him as a distraction.
He doesn’t even notice you’re in the air until he looks out the window again, enamored with the view of a colorful sky. It’s only for a second, but he cracks a smile, knowing he’s in good hands with you by his side.

Once again, firing and asking for employees to come back. Almost like these people shouldn’t have lost their jobs in the first place.
Note: U.S. air traffic controllers must retire by age 56 due to FAA regulations. This rule exists for safety reasons, as the job requires quick decision-making, focus, and multitasking, which can decline with age. Stress and fatigue are also factors.

SHEP. SHEP YOUVE DEVASTATED ME ONCE AGAIN.
Bigshot as Andriod 24....you're so right. It so encapsulates what 24 thinks of Xisuma
"You're always just a bit shy following behind/I think you've spent enough time singing the same lines" <- 24's resentment toward Xisuma, perhaps? Or a desire for something more, something better?
"I'm screaming for a life that I cannot have" AAAUUUGHHH perishing. throwing up. rolling over in agony. When the music cuts out and it's raw vocals really adds to the effect
And the oh's at the end, the screaming. I love Jhariah's music so much and I feel like it showcases the rawness of 24's emotions that us, from the perspective of Xisuma, don't get to see often.
AND the transition into FIRE4FUN feels like if 24 spiraled into slight insanity.
Anyways I'm a huge Jhariah fan and will now be thinking of every song in the context of dbhc (especially Russian Doll as Etho post-destruction).
RAHHHHHHH YES!!!!! oh my god yes absolutely all of this!!! There's so much i could freaking say about this song, and If you'll indulge me a slight ramble: i think so much of it is like, this double meaning with lyrics. Like, yes, BIG SHOT. 24 hates Xisuma so much (for some reason, later to be explored, but hinted at a little bit in the spotify wrapped art), he sneeringly calls X a bigshot, because X must think he's so big and powerful and important, but this song also feels like. almost like 24 is beating up on himself? Like, "oh, you think you're a big shot, huh? Think you're so big and strong and powerful despite how small you feel?" and that sense of fighting to overcome his sense of inadequacy and shame and anger is just SO infuriating that it fuels him even more.
Lyrics like "You're always just a bit shy, following behind" AGAIN, could totally be 24 sneering at Xisuma, because X isn't the most outwardly outgoing person, and from 24's perspective, it's like ohhhhh, you're putting up this shy guy front, you must think you're so smart! BUT ALSO. "a bit shy" as in, coming up just short of a goal, always falling short, and that as a double meaning for both 24 and Xisuma is just so. passes out. I could go on like this for like every lyric i need to eat glass OH AND!!! FIRE4FUN is actually on Cub's playlist >:3 god so many songs from the TRUST CEREMONY album are on various dbhc playlists, but primarily 24 and hels. Xisuma has one and cub has one, but that's it (i think).

Russia Is Slowly Improving Its Old-School FAB-500 Bomb - Technology Org

Russia Is Slowly Improving Its Old-School FAB-500 Bomb - Technology Org
In the olden days aerial bombs were quite simple. A bomber would fly over a target and drop its load – a bunch of bombs would fall out the aircraft’s belly and free fall all the way to the ground where they would explode taking out the target. When the Soviet-era FAB-500 was new in 1954, it worked exactly like that. But it evolved since then and is actually still getting improved.
FAB-500 is a Soviet/Russian air-dropped bomb that weighs 500 kg – you could’ve guessed it from its name. The weight of the explosive material is actually just 300 kg, but it is a devastating bomb. And has been since 1954. In fact, there are two versions of the FAB-500.
The original M-54 was made to be carried in internal bomb bays, while the M-62 is more aerodynamic and is meant to be hung on external hardpoints. The latter one is more common now as the entire concept of the old-fashioned bomber slowly descends into obscurity.

However, the FAB-500s that are currently being used against Ukraine, are not the same ones that were introduced in the 1950’s or the 1960’s.
Russia has converted them to glide bombs. Instead of falling straight down, they glide quite far away from the drop site. This means that Russian aircraft do not have to come into the Ukrainian air defence zone. FAB-500s now glide into Ukrainian territory and are pretty much impossible to shoot down.
Most of the unexploded Russian bombs in Ukraine are collected and detonated somewhere safe. This is the safest and most effective way to get rid of them. And FAB-500s fail to explode quite often, especially if they fall on soft soil. But even if they do explode, their debris is studied thoroughly.
In October of this year, fragments of a FAB-500 bomb were collected near Orikhiv in the Zaporizhia region. The markings on them indicate that this bomb was assembled in 2023. After comparing some of the components with those found earlier (for example, with the 2022 bomb previously found in Bakhmut), Ukrainian and British experts found that the Russians are continuing to improve their FAB-500, as reported by Tech.wp.pl.

For example, the Komet-M navigation module, which is intended for drones, was found in the bomb found in October. The bomb’s electronics are powered by two batteries that also power the aerodynamic control surfaces.
The flight control of the bomb is carried out by the so-called UMPK module – an accessory that turns a dumb bomb into a smart one. The Russians likely drew inspiration from the American JDAM when developing the UMPK.
The British research group Conflict Armament Research found that the Russians increased the range of the bomb by 35-40 km during the latest updates to the FAB-500.
By the way, an interesting fact – it seems that the Russians deliberately removed the identification marks of some electronic components in order to hide their origin. Who can say whether they are trying to mislead the Ukrainians and their Western partners, or whether they don’t want rumours about the use of foreign electronics to spread from factories in Russia itself.
