#flat feet barbie

One of the prominent scenes in the Barbie movie trailer is her discovery of her heels touching the ground. And that inspired me, but... it's surprisingly difficult to find information on Barbies who historically had flat feet.

When you look this up a lot of what you find at first is the 2015 announcement that some Barbies would now have articulated ankles - positioned as "the first time" in Barbie's history she could wear shoes that weren't heels. But I know that isn't quite true because I had a couple of Barbies growing up that had flat feet. It wasn't all, or even most, and those that could wear flat shoes couldn't also wear heels - but there were some!

Olympic Gymnast Barbie, for example, was released in 1995 as a tie-in for the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, and she had flat feet.

Some articles refer to some Barbies from the 1970s have flat feet and there are vintage flat shoes that support this - but I can't positively confirm the first Barbie to have flat feet.

And at a certain point you start to feel a little creepy, googling pictures of Barbies to zoom in on their feet.

I spent a long time looking at Free Moving Barbie from 1975, who was released wearing flat tennis shoes, determining the relatively flatness of her foot until I realised that this was a sign I had made some wrong choices in my life.

(To me it looks like Barbie has angled feet and PJ has flat feet even though they are wearing matching tennis shoes, but I'm by no means convinced.)

Hello you have unlocked a Key Memory!! I had the Barbie and the Rockers VHS as a kid, in which Barbie is part of a rock band who are "the most popular band in the world". Barbie is named Goodwill Ambassador for World Peace, and they perform the worlds first concert in space. And then after Barbie declares it's the "first day of world peace".

👀 Y'qive is a pacer. If she starts to circle the room at a quick pace, then she's feeling anxious or worried about something. A slower more sedate pace around the room is a deep in thought sequence. Especially during meetings if she casually gets up and starts to take a walk around the table, she's thinking and can't keep herself still. She'll often disguise it as an intimidation (she'll stop right behind you and make you nervous) or reward (a pat or hand on the shoulder) tactic.

Bonus: She is very light footed, because she almost always walks on her tip toes. Its a cross over from how her true form walks. Even if she's not in heels, she's more than likely walking on her toes. It makes it easier for her to balance.
