long one ahead. discussion of ableism and disability.

i have a very strong feeling viv only added disabled characters for clout/praise. none of the disability "rep" is good or realistic imo. yes, it's hell and heaven etc etc. idc. not to mention she's ableist towards disabilities, mental or physical, she can't or doesn't want to romanticize. look at the bellhopper from ghostfuckers and the goat lady at the reception of the hospital blitz and loona went to. ableism is funny there, but when someone is mean or ableist to fizz, it's wrong?

not to mention every single disabled character gets their disability "fixed" without any issue or actual impairment of their life. it doesnt impact them or shows itself as an actual disability, just as an event that happened to them that got fixed eventually. which is fucking wild. wouldnt be surprised if she "fixed" autism or anything in that regard too in the future.

vaggie - gets her wings back for no damn reason. never mentioned or tackled how she manages with only one eye. how does she coordinate with dancing and fighting? depth perception? it seems like her getting attacked/ her eye torn out by lute was just for shock value. its literally never mentioned again.

lute - gets a perfectly working arm prosthetic. why did her arm get crushed in the first place? only for drama?

fizzarolli- perfectly working prosthetics yet again. at least its shown that he struggles with self worth and confidence with his remaining horns and 'disfigurement'. yknow, seeing that the disability had an actual impact on his life. like those in real life do.

blitz - literally had half of his face burned off, plus most of his arms/hands, and his eye on the affected side is perfectly intact, and his hands are too.

what even is the logic in all of this? (there is none surprise surprise)

i wont even get into how addicts & mentally ill ppl are treated... maybe another time.

I don’t think Vivziepop and Brandon thought much about the disability aspect besides making into a punchline/dark humor. Because Helluva Boss was supposed to be a comedy while Hazbin Hotel handles all the serious lore and drama. Now in Helluva Boss they want to be serious about their topics, creating a double edge sword.

You are right about Fizzoralli, Anon. The Mammon Special bothered me for 2 reasons: Blitz and the way Fizzarolli is babied in and outside of the show. The fans would shower Fizzarolli with praise for leaving his abusive environment and gaining weight (I’m sorry I barely see a difference regarding his weight, dude is built like a twig) but meanwhile nobody in and outside of the show keeps the same energy with Moxxie. I remember making a video all about that because that episode was so hypocritical and the double standards.

It’s not fine for Fizzoralli to be made fun but Moxxie, the goat nurse, and the bellhop can be? Like cmon. Fizzoralli got like a whole protection squad it’s not even funny.

Vaggie getting her wings was not only awkward animation wise but out nowhere and I have to question is that how all the angels get their wings back by.. dancing and jumping around while another person is singing confidently about love?

Like what is the process/requirements of getting your wings back? Looks it is not a permanent situation. I get what they were trying to do, Vaggie coming full circle similarly like a butterfly except hers was nonexistent/rushed. I’m honestly surprised nobody in the hotel asked about her eye or Vaggie has not been insecure about it.

Like Angel Dust can make fun of her tits and name but never mentions her eye. That would be great character development for both Vaggie and Angel Dust. He pushes her to edge and goes too far, in the process Angel Dust learns more about Vaggie and why she is so guarded and closed off to sinners.

Vaggie’s eye being ripped, It was definitely for shock value and show how ruthless the excorists can be especially Lute. Lute losing her arm kind of adds to drama but it’s mainly Adam dying that takes the cake. Lute is the type to use anything that happened negatively towards her as an example of why sinners are dangerous.

I’m surprised Blitz can see properly, I thought he would be blind, wear an eye patch like Vaggie, or his vision would be 10x worse than before. Blitz getting that main character plot armor. 😂 Overall, the person who truly acknowledges their disability is Fizzarolli (even if it’s brief). I would love to hear your thoughts how addicts and mentally ill characters are treated in the show, no need to apologize for rambling. I find these conversations interesting.

I have a theory

So there’s been a lot of talk about the different life spans between Fizzoralli and Asmodeus. Especially how Asmodeus would outlive fizz as his life span is that similar to a human just at a slower pace, but my theory lies on something Stolas mentioned.

In episode 6, Stolas told Asmodeus that any deal made with a sin would be everlastingly binding, with that being said if Fizz and Asmodeus signed a marriage certificate which represents a committed bond between two ppl would that in some way or form allow Fizz to have a longer life span than normal or perhaps even immortality like Asmodeu

Why Helluva Boss Surpasses Hazbin Hotel In the Best Way Possible

The Helluva Boss Christmas episode dropped and I caught up with Season 2. I love this show so much for so many reasons. But that doesn't diminish Hazbin Hotel in any way at all. In fact, because of the show, it gives us a much deeper appreciation for what Helluva Boss is doing. I mean Hazbin Hotel was cool on Prime, but I want to talk about why Helluva Boss is the "Shrek 2" of the R-Rated animated musical series by a YouTube Animator. And that's a weird mouthful.

Getting Better with No Reward

Helluva Boss makes pretty clear that the "evil" demons of Hell are basically regular people with problems. Whether a majority of demons are born in Hell or damned souls, it's clear that they grow up from children to teens to adults. They have jobs, families, homes, and all the mundane things in our lives. And do in fact die. Possibly? That part is vague in whether they just get erased from existence or reincarnate Chainsaw Man style. But with those in mind, what would exactly be the point of being a "good" or "bad" person?

Throughout the series, many of the demons have some moral code, ethics, empathy, or rationale that sets them apart from the more chaotic and stereotypical demons. What I saw with a lot of characters is they willingly try and change for the better, all without Charlie Morningstar or the promise of Heaven, but redemption. This is especially in the case of Blitzø with a silent O.

Blitzø is one of the more unhinged characters you would see as a demon: immoral, selfish, hedonistic, all those demony things. But we, the audience, get to see his life, his failures, and his pain and how it shaped him. While it doesn't excuse his actions, it does make us understand. Once realizing these feelings, Blitzø tries to confront the consequences of his actions, with some trial and failure. Reconciling with his twin sister Barby: failed. Apologizing to his exes: failed. Talking with Fizzoralli: okay but still some scars, literal and figurative.

In fact, both Blitzø and Charlie share one major quality: attempting to change the status quo of Hell. But Blitzø wants to be seen more than a lackey to other higher demons while Charlie wants to prove people can change for the better. While Charlie's reason is more rooted in selflessness and hope, Blitzø's feels more human and genuine. From what I could see from the show so far, Hell is getting a whole lot bigger in what it can offer.

What's The Big Difference?

Helluva Boss is a more grounded and relatable show than the epic musical of Hazbin Hotel. The show allows for a lot of worldbuilding moments with the different rings of Hell along with their functions and associated demons. We're introduced to imps at the bottom of the demon hierarchy, demon royalty through Stolas and the Goetia royals, and six of the Seven Deadly Sins.

It seems the Seven Deadly Sins hold the most authority compared to the Overlords. It might be that the Overlords are more rich people like CEOs, industrialists, and entertainers while the Sins are like government officials, both holding power and influence but in different areas of life.

Whenever Hell is used in a show, it's represented in a myriad of ways ranging from classic burning pits to existential or nihilistic despair. It does make it clear that Hell is more a dark reflection of life on Earth, but more dirty, vibrant, and chaotic nonetheless. Even the Earth depicted in the show isn't really different aside from the whole demonic powers and magic stuff.

What Makes it More Interesting than its Predecessor?

Helluva Boss uses episodes as vehicles for their characters. Basically, getting to know who we're watching, why they're important, how they are as people, and so on. It doesn't have an overarching story that builds to a final battle. They're just chilling with exploring characters and their impact to others and the present stories in different episodes. Although there are interconnecting plots and stories, the show is mostly episodic.

Its strongest element include the characters, its main cast, supporting, and even one-off jokes, they all leave impressions on anyone who sees them. Millie is given more exploration in later episodes with why she always put up with Blitzø and believes in their business despite his total incompetence and hangups. You think Millie is just this bubbly tank, but shows a much more vulnerable side who wants to be seen more than her "intended role."

Stolas is another character is breaks the mold of his role. With disastrous results for everyone he cares for. Stolas is the love interest of Blitzø who aids IMP with his magic. He slowly breaks out from being a prince into someone else he hasn't found yet. We see his royal comfort implode in the Sinsmas finale, he loses his status, power, and even his daughter because of a perceived fantasy or escape that would free him. But, like a lot of caged birds, he doesn't fare so well in the real world. Now left with truly nothing but the very person he made his "sacrifice" for. Even uncertain of that as well.

But, the songs from both shows are incredible!!!!

My favorites include Loser, Baby performed by veteran Keith David and newcomer Blake Roman and U 2 Me performed in "Apology Tour" by Bryce Pinkham. Both those songs really connect with me while conveying character moments. The songs in Helluva Boss develop and explore character like a musical would use them for those big "Declaration of Something" anthem. Defying Gravity, We Don't Talk About Bruno, even Cell Block Tango, all are songs that explore one's mindset, opinions, and personal struggles.

Why Should I Watch...?

The Characters, the plots, the songs, the animation, so much F^$King things to admire and love that I can't... I just... 😣 😩 ... I don't know.

Helluva boss Barbie missed opportunities

Why was she cut from the explosion scene? The very significant event at her home that impacted so heavily on Blitzø and Fizzoralli.

Our Blitzø flashbacks feature him with Fizz even though all three will be peers the exact same age, we even got quality little Blitzø and Stolas time, who got confirmed to be their age.

There was no reason for it not to be Blitzø and Barbie performing since whoever preformed with Blitzø didn't matter and we were soon to get plenty of Fizz content anyway.

We already know that Blitzø and Barbie were a twin act.

Blitzø and Barbie being a twin act but there being a sibling rivalry between them, along with a rivalry towards Fizz who their dad showed favouritism to could make sense. Either could be the better performer with the not so great one having both their twin and Fizz way ahead of them. Blitzø charisma that stood out to Stolas when they were children could be at the heart of this because charismatic people are often able to get by in that alone, whilst one with talent at the task is a double threat. What if she never felt she could live up to either Blitzø or Fizz?

When Fizz and Blitzø made amends upon realising that there were those who interfered with them seeing one another following the explosion, who were these people or "they"? This could have been Barbie, someone they both love, trust and would take the word of, who would have been justified in feeling a certian way about what happened

simply dropping her name would have given her some development though not dropping her name too would have made sense in both protecting her identity, however with this a flashback, since we already had one, simply featuring her in a group would have given us some Barbie content and some mystery.

We could have seen plenty of her in the summer camp episode where Moxxie had his chance to lead the mission. Seeing as Moxxie had no idea who she was, she could have been under his nose the whole time.

Barbie could have attended Mammon's show and took the 'not wasting time applying for the pageant because women aren't funny' comment seriously. This could have been triggering because of an existing inferiority complex, it could have lowered her mood, Blitzø could have cringed at this (along with the opportunity for Fizz to go on to bigger things) and reaction she could have walked out, went somewhere to blow off steam or cheer up, or she could have walked down that high street with them and slipped into a bar, we learn that Fizz and Blitzø had stolen alcohol before during this walk so she could be at that stage already to know how certain substances affect her.

Blitzø savings could have been all their savings which could have added to her turning to making quick money.

These scenarios could have contributed to her addiction and forgotten career.

She didn't even need any lines for these, the Blitzø and Fizz explosion flashback got the story across without any. Feeling invisible is a common reason for people to fall off.

I'm not saying Fizz cant have layers to his character but where the fuck did all the insecurity in his skills and performance come from? Blitzo was the one with performance insecurities because Fizzoralli constantly out shined him before and after the circus fire, this feels like Vivzie trying to woobify Fizz because when its a gay couple, one of them has to be cutesy and insecure despite Fizz showing he was very confident in every other episode he was in

It came out of nowhere! He went from being a little gremlin with a mouthful of sass to significantly less sassy, but still possessing some teeth, to a scared and piddling little puppy dog.

OK, so this is still a nameless OC character for Helluva Boss. drawn by @angietswing and honestly she turned out better than I originally wanted. I absolutely love it.

She is a succubi hellhound hybrid. Heavy on the hellhound side with her only succubi characteristics being the pink in her eyes, her horns, and originally her wings. However, I plan to have a backstory where she loses them.

She is pretty shy but she is a huge fan of Fizzoralli. He is also her inspiration to be a singer/performer despite her differences. She would strongly want to stay away from succubi-type performances thought.

Hey! I drew Fizzoralli (or Fizz for short) from Helluva boss!

I like trying to imitate the style of other artists and I wanted to draw him (especially since the last episode [7]) He knows ASL!!! That made me very happy for no reason. I'm learning signs and I could make up some of what he said with his fan! I am very proud!

At the beginning, I wanted to do a full page with fizz scribles, but I ended up doing one full body. That's why the feet are cut off. ;-;
