I need more of needy Bucky who loses control from the feeling of being inside your pussy. I need him to fuck me like a rag doll and to carry me over his shoulder around the house like his personal flesh light.
Fuck, this has always been one of my very favourites to write. I really like to imagine that he struggles to last but he can keep going after he finishes 🙈 it's my lil filthy fantasy
But imagine spending the morning in bed with him. You both wake up around 6am and you spend the first little while just touching and chatting before a couple of hours of sex. Now it's maybe around 11am and after lying there together for a while, you're both in the mood for something to eat.
You pull a robe around you and that's just about as much as you manage before Bucky's scooped you up, carrying you to the kitchen.
"You don't need to carry me everywhere!" You tease, remembering that he'd carried you up the stairs to bed last night too.
"I know. But. Carrying you means. I. Can put you. Exactly. Where. I want you." He peppers kisses over your face and neck, tenderly capturing your bottom lip between his before he sets you up on the kitchen countertop.
There's no point arguing with him so you sit there quite happily. He makes up a quick pancake mix, washes some berries from the fridge, preps the coffee machine and sets the little dining table for the two of you.
Somewhere in between, you got a little distracted, perched on the counter scrolling on your phone. You hadn't noticed the way he's looking at you.
He's so caught up in the little things; the way the light hits your shoulder, the curve of your hips, the way the silhouette of your nipples are visible against the satin robe.
"Look at you, sitting there all sweet like your cunt isn't so fucking full of me."
That's got your attention.
You squirm a little, your body fluttering at how shamelessly vulgar he's being but nothing's stopping you from doing the same.
You spread your legs, exposing the slick mess coating your inner thighs. It's a mixture of your own arousal and Bucky's cum, dripping out of your sensitive cunt.
Your fingertips trail lazily over your exposed sex, your skin glistening in the natural light before you bring your fingers to your own lips, sucking them clean, giving him a little bit of a show.
"Tastes amazing, sweetheart." You groan, noticing the growing bulge in his thin pyjama bottoms. "But I lost track of how many times you came inside me this morning. You came so deep, most of your cum won't have dripped out yet. Bet I'm still totally stuffed full."
He sinks to his knees in no time, settling his head between your thighs, breathing in the faint smell of your arousal. His tongue presses flat to your sex, trailing from your hole to your clit and back, gathering as much of your combined release as possible.
He groans, low and pathetic, allowing his tongue to dip inside you as deep as he can bury it. He savours every drop of cum he earns back from your body.
When his tongue alone isn't enough, he slips a finger into you, followed quickly by a second, curling them against your sensitive inner wall.
"Bucky baby, please don't make me cum again." You groan, your fingers tangled in his dark hair but you know he's not giving you that choice. Not when his free hand is furiously stroking his own cock, desperate to ensure that when he's finished licking his cum out of you, he can flood your cunt with another load.

YEAHHHHH!!!! WOOOO POGGIES BABAGABOOSH ITS TAG TEAM TIME!!!!
TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM TAG TEAM WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Damn-- a little less than 20 years of dealing with Fitz's shenanigans. I don't think I'd be able to do that lmao (or maybe I could-- the enthrallment aspect might just change a few things lol)
Rodger's basically just, "He's a pain in the ass (/affectionate)" lmfaooo I love those types of relationships.
Oop-- brief reference to Fitz trauma 👀
:0000!!! Henry loved to play cards!!! Did you know that Nintendo started out as a card company in 1889? Do you think Henry had a Nintendo deck or two? If so, did Lex keep it after Henry passed?
Speaking of that Nintendo fun fact, I saw a comment on a video yesterday that said, "Nintendo was founded in 1889 making playing cards. Coca-Cola was founded in 1892. Dracula was published in 1897 and was set in the same time. You could have a Dracula adaptation where Dracula drinks a Coke and plays Nintendo and it would be historically accurate." and I immediately thought of your characters lmfao. (Though in the replies a couple people corrected that Coca-Cola was actually founded in 1886-- but still--)
OOP-- TEEHEE-- ITS TIME!!!!! (Insert my pfp here)
Oop-- hot.
CAT FITZ!!!! CAT FITZ CANNON!!!! YES!!!!! HES SO GOOFY I LOVE HIM!!!!
Delicious soup achieved already holy shit--
Teehee thrall Fitz reference
HDBSKSBSKSB Oliver is straight up drunk off of this holy shit-- OUGH!!!! S O U P!!!!!
OOP-- FITZ-- I RELATE TO HIM A LITTLE TOO MUCH UH-OH-- HAHA-- WHOOPSIES-- (I pretend I do not see--)
oops! all black hole void!!
Y'know, I saw a quote once-- hold on let me go find it real quick...
SHIT I CANT FIND IT NOOOO!!!! It was something along the lines of "Behind every comedian is a child begging, 'Love me. Love me. Love me.'" Or something close to that. Anygay it reminds me of Fitz. Probably why he's a performer and why he loves the stage. The unquenchable thirst and hunger to not just be adored and admired, but loved. Unconditionally, truly. and fully loved. ...But it's never enough. Nothing is ever enough.
To end this lil tangent, I'd like to share a song that I've been lowkey relating to Fitz for a while, but this bit right here has confirmed that this is 100% him. Specifically this is a rock cover somebody did, because the original is popular af and I want to spice things up a little lol. (FLASHING LIGHTS WARNING!!!) https://youtu.be/T0kpGEE-isU
youtube
I know that a popular interpretation of Aishite is that it's about a yandere type situation, but I personally interpret it as a person who desperately wants somebody to love them; to fill a deep, aching void that's been with them for as long as they can remember, but nothing they do is ever enough. And that's just the surface of it. I could do a whole essay breaking down my interpretation of this song, I could also write one comparing it to my interpretation of Fitz, but that's all gonna have to be for a different post at a different time. For now the point that matters is that Fitz might just relate to that song as much as I do lol. (There's a reason he quickly became one of my favorite characters lol) (I just realized-- Fitz was technically a (figurative) vampire long before he was an actual vampire-- he was just one that fed off of others love and adoration for him instead of blood! ... Now he does both!!)
Anygay-- enough exposing my own trauma and mental illness, back to sexy vampires doing some of the best enthrallment I've ever read.
God DAMN this soup is DELICIOUS
The stress of being Fitz's thrall/caregiver has aged Roder by like-- 10+ years lmfao
""What are you trying to imply?" said Fitz with a laugh." Why do I feel like he was genuinely offended a little bit by what just happened before that quote, and was just trying to lightheartedly laugh it off there lol
"I'll allow it, just this once." Mhm. Ok. Sure. You totally don't enjoy it that much, and you're totally just allowing this happen. You're totally the one control here, Fitz. Totally.
AWWWWW RARE NON PATHETIC WET CAT LEX MOMENT WOOOOO!!! HE GETS HIS MUCH NEEDED COMFORT!!! HOPEFULLY FITZ FEELS MOSTLY CONTENT TOO HE DESERVES IT!!!!
AWWWW WHOLESOME BEAUTIFUL BEST ENDING TO THIS BIT
THIS MIGHT BE A NEW ULTIMATE SOUP

tw: mind control, captivity, blood drinking
October 1925
"So… how long have you been a thrall, if you don't mind me asking?"
Roger swallowed a bite of sandwich and washed it down with water. He'd devoured most of it the moment the plate was put in front of him. "It must be close to twenty-five years by now."
"Twenty-five years!" Oliver could see that Roger was quite a bit older than him, but he hadn't been expecting that.
"Most of that time has been with Fitz," said Roger. "My first master was much less agreeable. The less said about him, the better."
"Does your master treat you well?" said Oliver sympathetically, also hoping to scope out his master's friend for himself.
"He's temperamental and dramatic. He doesn't lift a finger to do chores. He demands I wake him up in time for his shows, and then when I do, he whines about how he doesn't want to leave his bed." Roger sighed. "But he isn't cruel, and he never hurts me. He can often be good company, and when he's not in need of attention, he allows me to do as I will. My life is pleasant, on the whole, so as far as vampires go, I'm glad I have him as master and not another."
Oliver breathed a sigh of relief. "So he isn't dangerous?"
"All vampires are dangerous," Roger pointed out. "But no, my master has no intention of doing you harm. He's been looking forward to feeding from you, as he made abundantly clear."
"Yes, he certainly did."
"How about you? Is Alexander treating you well?"
"Yes, very much so, I would say," said Oliver. "He's very gentle, and I appreciate his library. He seems determined to ensure I want for nothing. The only problem is… well…"
Roger nodded. "My master told me that there was a run-in with your master's sire."
"Have you met him?"
"Thankfully, I have not. Fitz makes a point of keeping us out of his reach. That's why we visit so infrequently."
"Did you know my master's last thrall?"
"Henry. Yes." Roger downed the last of the water glass, and Oliver stood to refill it. "He was a decent sort, a former accountant. Quiet. Loved to play cards. It's… unfortunate, what happened to him."
"…Yes." Oliver's hand shook slightly as he put down the glass.
"Thank you," said Roger, taking a sip. "For what it's worth, both Alexander and Fitz seem much more interested in you than they did in Henry, so there's reason to hope things turn out differently."
"What do you mean by that?"
"It seems possible that they'll pull out the stops to try and protect you. I've never seen my master so excited to drink from another thrall." There was a hint of jealousy in Roger's voice and eyes.
"It's my blood, I suppose," Oliver said sheepishly.
"You must have high grade blood. I'm similarly 'blessed,'" said Roger. "God only knows how vampires decide that. It reminds me of how they review fancy wines, and how it's meant to taste like flowers or minerals or some nonsense."
"I can't say I've ever really had fancy wine, even before it was illegal."
"Right, alcohol is banned here. Ridiculous, if you ask me. Vampires don't care in the least about human laws, so --"
Oliver's attention was pulled away from the conversation by a beautiful low note in his head. It sounded like his master's singing, but it didn't seem to be coming from anywhere. "Do you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
"That song -- my master --" Without any words, it was beckoning him, a call too strong for him to ignore. It had never happened before, but he somehow knew just what he was meant to do.
Roger seemed unsurprised. "Your master's calling you, is he? You'd better go, then."
"Um, but you…"
"I remember the manor well enough. I'll make myself at home in a guest room. Don't worry about me."
"All right," said Oliver, grateful that Roger understood his sudden exit. He didn't stand a chance at resisting the song, and practically floated up the stairs as though he were in a dream. When he reached the door of his master's bedroom, he knocked. "Sir? Were you calling for me?"
"Come in, Oliver," said Alexander.
The room was dimly lit with a couple of gas lamps. Alexander and Fitz were both lounging casually on Alexander's bed. Alexander's shirt was unbuttoned, Fitz was wearing only an undershirt, and they were both in their shorts. A blush crept onto Oliver's face, but the vampires didn't seem embarrassed in the slightest. Vampiric aura was thick in the air, and Oliver's nerves were fighting unsuccessfully against the docile trance state that was quickly claiming him.
"Did you wish to drink from me, sirs?"
"There he is," said Fitz with a positively predatory grin. "What a picture perfect thrall."
"Oh, he is," said Alexander, and Oliver felt like glowing. "Why don't you come sit down, Oliver?"
Oliver politely sat down on the side of the bed, and Fitz slithered up next to him. "Nervous?" Fitz asked.
"Somewhat, sir."
Fitz rolled over like a cat, looking at Oliver upside-down. "There's no reason to be nervous. I do bite, but I promise that you'll like it."
"What Fitz is trying to say," said Alexander, "is that we'd very much like to share in your blood, if that's all right with you."
He couldn't even think of denying his master this. The vampires' desire was too strong and his conditioning too deep. "Yes, sirs. Please share me."
"Well, now that we're not all standing around on a freezing cold dock, I can pick up where I left off, can't I?" Fitz sat up, and brought his hand near Oliver's face without touching it, his fingers moving in a fluid, mesmerizing motion. "I don't know if your master explained this to you, but just as his power is in his voice, mine is in my hands."
Oliver was staring at his fingertips, easily recalling how irresistible that touch was, aching for it. "I see, sir."
Fitz's hand cupped his cheek, and the last of his thoughts dissolved into bliss. "I'm glad we have an understanding, then," he said. "You'll be good for me, won't you, Oliver?"
Oliver had no defenses whatsoever against this new trance, not with his master looking on in approval. His muscles relaxed, his tension wiped away. "I'll be good for you, sir," he said, already half-asleep.
"Exquisite," said Fitz encouragingly, as he ran his hands through Oliver's hair and traced a finger down his jaw and neck. "You're so very good. Not resisting me at all. Just happy and obedient."
"Obedience is pleasure, sir," Oliver muttered, leaning into Fitz's soft touch. so utterly hypnotized and eager.
Fitz laughed. "That must be one of Lily's little mantras."
"Lily did a fine job priming him, not that there was any doubt," said Alexander.
"Such a charming thing," Fitz murmured, cradling Oliver's chin, "the way he simply melts under the slightest enthrallment."
"Hmm, yes, reminds me of another thrall I used to have."
Fitz chuckled. "Surely I was never like this."
"Surely you were."
Oliver's brows furrowed as he struggled against trance to process the conversation. Fitz had been a thrall? Alexander's thrall?
"No, none of that," said Fitz, tapping Oliver on the nose. "No thinking for you."
"Yes, sir," he said automatically, allowing the worries to fade away once more as Fitz caressed him.
"I've been looking forward to watching you go to work on him," said Alexander.
"Well, I can't disappoint, then." Fitz turned back to Oliver. "Do you enjoy being Lex's thrall?"
At the moment, any concerns he might have about his situation were far, far away. "Yes, sir, I'm very happy to be Lex's thrall."
"Don't you love his song? The way it makes you feel?"
"Yes, sir," he said, nuzzling into Fitz's hand with no shame, dreaming of his master's voice. "I love it more than anything."
Oliver felt strong arms taking him around the waist, pulling him close to his master's chest. His master began to hum softly in his ear, an enchanting song of pleasure, while holding him tight. All the while, Fitz kept up his intoxicating touch. Oliver's mind was entirely gone, consumed by an enthralled bliss that was stronger than any he had known.
"Isn't that song so beautiful, so easy to listen to?" said Fitz in his other ear.
"Sir…" he slurred in his drowsy haze. "It's so good… sir…"
Fitz chuckled. "You're delightful, Oliver, do you know that?"
"You're being so good for us," Alexander added in his other ear.
"So good."
"Wanna… be good… sirs…" said Oliver.
Fitz ran his finger across the spot where Alexander normally fed, and Oliver shuddered from the intensity. "You'll keep being good for me when I drink, won't you?"
Oliver was certain he'd never needed anything so much as that. "Drink… please drink from me, sir…"
"How could I ever deny such an adorable request?" said Fitz. "Just relax and keep feeling good, okay? I promise you'll find this enjoyable."
Oliver nodded, and gasped as the sharp fangs pierced his neck. It felt different from Alexander's feeding, hungrier, more desperate but no less pleasurable.
An overwhelming swirl of emotions began to pool in his mind. Joy at seeing Alexander. Fear for the future. Loneliness. Desire. Shame. Obsession. And through it all, an undercurrent of need, a deep, dark need that could never be fully satiated.
"Oh, he is delicious. I've never had a blood so rich." Fitz had paused briefly in his meal. "Why don't you have a bit, Lex? You look hungry."
"I'll take a sip, and then you can have your fill."
Oliver was shifted slightly to be closer to his master, and then Alexander was drinking gently from the wound Fitz had made, filling Oliver with a sense of peace.
Before he knew it, Fitz was at his neck again, feeding like a starving man. He was taking so much blood, and Oliver was floaty and sleepy, his eyelids drifting shut and a sigh escaping his lips.
"Fitz --"
"I know, I know, I don't want to overdrink from a thrall like this. Honestly, I don't know how you can control yourself, Lex. I wouldn't trust myself to not drain him dry."
"…It's difficult sometimes," Lex admitted.
Oliver slumped backwards into his master's arms, drifting in and out of a light doze, content and fulfilled and safe.
"You must be hungry -- all of that buildup, and you barely had a drop to drink," said Fitz. "Why don't I call up Roger so you can have a snack?"
"I certainly wouldn't mind that," said Lex.
Oliver woke up slightly as he was transferred from Alexander to Fitz, but the whine of protest in his throat was silenced as Fitz guided his head to his lap and began to stroke his hair, scattering his thoughts and stuffing his head full of cotton. The door creaked open, and Oliver could see Roger emerge from the gloom.
"You wish to drink from me, sir?" he said.
Alexander began to sing, and Oliver could feel the command in the melody, a command beckoning the listener forward and into Alexander's hold. Roger walked forward through the room, his steps as heavy as a sleepwalker's, and as he drew closer, his wide, glassy eyes reflected the gas lamp.
Oliver couldn't resist the pull, either, and Fitz didn't stop him as he crawled across the bed to his master and curled up next to him. Alexander stroked Oliver's face with one hand while welcoming Roger in with the other, singing of bliss and obedience.
"You remember my song, don't you?" asked Alexander.
"Yes, sir, very clearly," said Roger.
"Then you know the deep sense of fulfillment you'll feel when I drink from you."
"Yes… sir…" The worry and stress on Roger's face was melting away, and he looked somehow younger.
"A wonderful thrall. I'm very glad that your master has a thrall like you. Thank you for taking good care of him."
"Of course, sir… it's my pleasure and my duty…"
"You're going to be so relaxed now, Roger. You deserve it after taking care of Fitz every day."
"I do, sir."
"What are you trying to imply?" said Fitz with a laugh.
"There you go, perfectly relaxed," said Alexander, ignoring Fitz. "You'll feel no pain, only pleasure."
Alexander opened his mouth wide, and his sharp fangs glistened in the flickering light. Oliver watched in dreamlike fascination as he bit into the soft flesh of Roger's neck. Roger's eyes went lidded, his expression slackening. A goofy, dazed smile spread across his face. Oliver was too content and relaxed to be jealous. He couldn't help but wonder if this was how he looked when his master fed.
Soon, Alexander licked the last of the blood from the small marks on Roger's neck. He sank back onto the pillows, cradling Oliver in one arm and Roger in the other. Oliver glanced up to see a sly expression on his master's face as he started to hum again, the same song he had used to draw in the two thralls.
"What are you doing, Lex?" said Fitz. "Are you trying to enthrall… me… too…" A moment later, Fitz was snuggling in next to Oliver, and Oliver was surprised to see how entranced he looked. "I'll allow it, just this once."
They were all in a large, comfortable kind of pile centered around Alexander, and Oliver could feel his master's contentment. He was so used to the undercurrent of loneliness that constantly radiated from the vampire that it almost seemed foreign. This is exactly how things are meant to be. Everything that's mine is in its rightful place.
"I take it that it was agreeable to drink from Roger, then?" said Fitz quietly.
"Very much so. He was as delectable as always, and a perfect gentleman," said Alexander. "And you certainly seemed to enjoy Oliver."
"You know, when you told me the frankly extravagant amount you bought him for, I admit that I was skeptical. I couldn't imagine even the finest thrall being worth that much," he said. "But now that I've seen and tasted him… I understand. I wouldn't have given him up for any price."
"I'm glad you understand." Alexander toyed with Oliver's hair. "Apart from his natural obedience and decadent blood, he's also very pleasant company, soft-spoken and well-read." Oliver nestled in closer, happy to absorb his master's praise.
"He reminds me of you, a bit," said Fitz, running his hand through Oliver's hair. "It must be the smell of books about him. I suspect that's part of why I find him so appealing."
"Is that so?" said Alexander. He leaned down and planted a kiss on Fitz's forehead.
"And now I can tell everyone I've fed from a triple-A, twenty thousand dollar thrall."
Alexander laughed. "Well, not everyone can find such an exceptional thrall at a bargain price like your Roger here."
"To be fair, he was less of a bargain when I had to pay Lily to fix his poor mind. Still worth every penny and then some."
"Speaking of Lily, she suggested that we all meet up at the Tiger's Eye…"
The vampires continued to chat in low tones, and the sound of his master's voice was slowly lulling Oliver asleep. He tried to keep himself awake, wanting to hear the conversation and enjoy basking in his master's company, but his eyelids were drooping and heavy. He heard a yawn and then a bit of a snore coming from Roger, and he yawned too. His mind began to doze, drifting far away, unable to focus on what the vampires were saying, only listening to the cadence of Alexander's voice.

@comfrtcrowd asked: ❛ you owe me a dinner. a very nice dinner. ❜ fitz lmfao // a meme i don't want to go find
"THEN I'M NOT MAKING IT," Michael chuckles, a dig at his own cooking skills rather than any denial that Fitz has a point— all things considered, Fitz has put up with much more than what one dinner could make up for. "You prefer going out or ordering in? 'Cause if I try and do it the stove's blowing up in flames." Their choices may be limited depending on what he can cover with the kind of checks he gets from shitty security jobs, and even though Fitz may have said it in retaliation to his most recent stunt... Michael likes the idea. Something normal, a night where they don't have to WORRY about the trail that Michael can't bring himself to stop chasing down and the ghosts that haunt their pasts.
"... And I'll call out." A bit worried over the idea of the company calling someone ELSE in to fill his absence, but they won't get the chance if he simply doesn't show up. They can go one night without a security guard. Shoving away the lingering thought that he shouldn't allow himself this kind of relief, his expression pulls into a smile "That enough to get me outta your debt?"

how is Keefe airing out Sophie's emotions somehow less invasive than telepathy? (keep in mind- i haven't read the books in a fatty minute)
I get he can feel her emotions without having physical contact. but why does bro announce them to the room? why does he throw them back in her face whenever she's like "hey I'd really rather not talk about it."
like is their connection really that deep or is Keefe just overly aware and invasive... ? people be like "he always knows what she's feeling!" like no shit??? she doesn't have to tell him? this isn't built on trust??
she often ends up telling him things bc he's like "I already know. I can feel ur emotions remember? and they're heavy ones, so you need to talk to someone (me)"
he never gets any criticism for this.
but if Fitz wants to ask and be a bit interrogative about her thoughts and feelings *without reading her mind* he's overstepping boundaries and should just take no for an answer? he doesn't know how she feels all the time, that's why he has to ask more directly than Keefe.
how does this reasoning not apply to both? am I missing something?

also I fucking. ok. while I'm here I gotta mention Amber's being wistful. bc. my god
I was HOPING this whole time for amber to say some shit where altheas like "have you ever loved anyone amber?" and amber like. smiles wistfully and is like. "once.... but thats all behind me now...."
but I was WAITING for what I thought was most likely which is amber just like. telling althea some shit like. "oh Althea, youre so strong willed. you... remind me of someone, sometimes... no matter..." or just some like "I had a friend once who liked cheap brandy best," or some other vague little thing and I was like man that'll be enough I'll be happy. I'll go nuts
I was ALSO really wanting althea to go get boy advice from amber bc it'd be very very funny.
and I was ALSO wondering hey wait. didn't fitz leave the fool with his earring?? yeah that was a pretty significant thing that happened. and the fools not wearing it, prolly cause it's very identifiable. oh what if it's in his dragon earring? that'd make sense. that'd be crazy actually.
NOTHING COULDVE PREPARED ME
FOR THE WAY AMBER FINALLY BRINGS UP FITZ
to be Althea going "idk amber is love real or am I doomed to give up my dreams for someone else" and amber going "well... sometimes people are in love and have the same goal and it works out"
and Althea being like "idk is that even POSSIBLE"
and amber going "well... yes... but it costs a lot. bc you have to accept that he has a life too and it might lead him to a different direction. and like... maybe he has needs you can't fill and maybe you have to leave him for a while and it's painful and you miss him everyday and it costs loneliness and longing and doubt and"
Tumblr media
LIKE. MY GOD. INSANE
NOTHING COULDVE PREPARED ME
I got my talking abt boys and I got my amber mentioning fitz and he TOUCHES THE EARRING SO FUCK FITZ'S EARRING IS IN THERE AND THE FOOLS BEEN WEARING IT THIS WHOLE TIME BC OF COURSE HE IS I MEAN FUCK OF COURSE HE IS
and the way it gets brought up is them talking abt boys and Althea going "idk love isn't real" and the fool going "well actually love is very real but its hard bc like with that kind of love you have to respect his life and that like you cant be a part of it and idk sometimes like he's only into women and wants to be free and roam the woods with his wolf and that's a life u can't give to him and like hypothetically you have to leave him for a long time and he thinks you're gone forever but you have to do this and it's not up to you and he doesn't know that and like you miss him every day and every day you wonder if youre doing the right thing and every day you wish you could be falling asleep next to him and" AND THEN ALTHEA INTERRUPTS HER AND JUST DOESNT ASK FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS AND ITS FANTASTIC OH MY GOD
btw I love these new liveship guys but I do miss my boy fitz, and ofc I got excited whenever the six duchies were mentioned and whenever amber got wistful but honest to God the excitement I got from wintrow going "wow what a well illustrated herbal.... the plants colors are so accurate... whoever made this had a real talent for painting and herbs..." was unparalleled like HOLY SHIT FITZ'S HERBAL!!! YEAAAH THATS MY FUCKING BOY!!!

I made this Agents of SHIELD poll a few days ago about AUs that would’ve been interesting to see. Currently, the winning answer is that Leo Fitz made a deal with Ghost Rider to destroy AIDA. Now that I think about it, I think this would’ve been the stronger storyline. My reasons:
1) There’s no real reason why it had to be Coulson who destroyed AIDA. It feels like he was only made Ghost Rider because he’s the lead character and the showrunners needed an excuse to kill off Coulson at the end of season 5. But even then, the choice to have Ghost Rider be the one to kill Coulson feels wrong since that’s not really a thing in the comics. The deals with the Ghost Rider turns the person into a host, it’s not supposed to kill them.
2) Narratively, it makes sense. AIDA was targeting Fitz and forced him to become her lover. Fitz destroying AIDA would’ve been poignant (if that’s the right word).
3) You can argue that Fitz becoming Ghost Rider to end the LMD/AIDA threat was his atonement for helping Holden Radcliffe build them in the first place.
4) The fun irony of the character who didn’t believe in the supernatural/magic becoming the character with the strongest ties to the supernatural/magic.
5) Continues the devil theme. Fitz was the Devil in the Framework, then he makes a deal with the devil in the real world.
6) IMO, this would improve the Doctor subplot in season 5. Instead of the explanation being stress or a split personality, the Doctor is now a manifestation of the Ghost Rider. Even though the Rider is still bound to Robbie Reyes, the Rider can still speak to Fitz since Fitz made the deal. The show could explain this as the Ghost Rider becoming permanently bonded to its hosts, even the ones it left.
7) Fitz not being in control of his body, the Doctor taking over —> Ghost Rider took over Fitz’s body and performed the surgery on Daisy Johnson. Also, it’d be in line with the Rider since the Rider is the kind of character that “gets shit done”, if you know what I mean. I can imagine this as Fitz not wanting to go through with the surgery, then the Rider taking over because it got tired of Fitz’s indecision.
8) Fitz’s overall character being a bit darker in season 5 —> Ghost Rider’s influence on Fitz
9) The show could explain “Fitz Rider” as a reference to the comics in which comics!Fitz became possessed by Mephisto.
10) It lowkey continues the rivalry between Daisy and Ghost Rider. Because season 4 started with her fighting Robbie/Ghost Rider. Now, the rivalry continues, but this time through Fitz. The rivalry would also makes sense substance-wise since it’s still about morals/doing what is necessary. Daisy disapproved of Robbie killing evil people, Robbie said they deserved their fates. Daisy disapproved of Fitz operating on her, Fitz believed that it was the only way to deal with the Fear Dimension problem.
11) The episode where The Doctor returns is called “The Devil Complex”. I mean…it’s RIGHT THERE. It’s like the show is taunting you that Fitz should’ve been the 2nd Ghost Rider. Technically 3rd, but whatever.

Ok just saw that your asks are open
Ik that you do not like Keefe (for valid reasons)
But here's something for you to analyze/think about
Not necessarily to change your mind about him bit if it does it does
Ok so
At the end of neverseen Keefe said "sometimes things have to get worse before they get better"
Yes he was referencing to him running away and for lodestat Yada Yada what have you
But I FULL heartedly believe that it was foreshadowing for the entirety of his chara arc throughout the series
Cause as of stellarlune he is at his lowest of lows
However you want to classify that us he's there
The way he treats his friends, his relationships with them, his mental state, ability state, common sense
All of it
And do I think it's gonna get worse than what it already is
YUP
But here's what that quote implies
It DOES get better
Never says when or how
But just that it does
I fully believe that after he gets past the roughest patch (whether that's him currently or even him in book 10) that he'll slowly start to realize how he's been and start trying to be better and get the help he needs
And tbh
I don't think it'll be anytime soon
I feel like he needs to have the (inevitable) argument with Sophie to finally realized it
Cause trust me as much as I ship sokeefe I really do believe they need to have an argument
Maybe even not speak for a book
But it'll be good for him in the end and hopefully he sees how he's been acting these last few books
Thoughts on this?
okay, sorry this took so long to get to. every time i try to answer it, it doesn't come out quite right. but here's my best shot.
i would agree with the idea of "sometimes things have to get worse before they get better" as an arc for keefe. that would be cool. and obviously, since at the time of this writing, the series is unfinished, there's always a possibility shannon could turn it around for herself. i've talked about this briefly in some post from a while ago, but there is a chance shannon will execute a flawless character arc for keefe in unraveled. is it likely? not really. but i wouldn't say it's impossible.
what makes me think this will not happen? in short: the fact that his flaws, the real flaws, not "cares too much about sophie" or "is too willing to self-sacrifice", have not once been villainized or called out as something seriously wrong in the series.
here's a list (referencing this post, where i list out all the things i dislike about keefe, there's more than just what i listed here, but these are the character flaws):
"i hate the way he manipulates, gaslights, extorts, and pressures sophie (and other people) into telling him shit they wouldn't ordinarily." this is never made out to be a bad thing. the person on the receiving end usually just grumbles something like "empaths", then after five seconds it's dropped. you don't see it affect keefe's relationships, you don't see people become uneasy around him, keep their distance from him because oh, that's the guy that's going to spill my secrets, it never feels like this affects keefe's relationships in any negative way. there is no long-term damage. it is completely swept under the rug, and it is never, ever seriously villainized. if shannon wanted to execute a "sometimes things have to get worse before they get better" type arc for keefe with regards to this flaw, she'd have to start by having it be a negative thing. then only can keefe work toward a better place. but shannon skipped that crucial step. so how can i assume that she's trying to develop keefe out of this, even if the development goes forwards and backwards and all over the place?
"i hate what a terrible friend he is." there are so many examples of this that i can't remember exactly what i was referencing when i wrote that. in any case, basically the same as what i said above applies. keefe needs to first be villainized for his toxic behavior if he's to grow out of it. take his comments toward fitz in the famous healing center scene, as an example. yes, the scene is told from keefe's perspective, meaning obviously he's not going to hold himself accountable. but maybe elwin steps in and reprimands keefe for what he said. maybe keefe detects sophie's anger toward him for the comments he made toward fitz. maybe he's even told off by fitz himself. there are a variety of ways to make it clear that this is not a good person to be. only then can keefe's journey even begin. if shannon is to do a "sometimes things have to get worse before they get better" type thing for keefe with regards to this, then things have to get worse for him. he needs to feel the consequences of his actions, which he never does.
"i hate the way he simultaneously pedestalizes and infantilizes sophie." once again, this is never made out to be a bad thing. if anything, keefe's pedestalization of sophie is meant to endear the audience to him. his infantilization is disguised as """"""witty"""""" jokes, so that is also probably supposed to make us like him. shannon actually managed to take keefe's toxic traits and sell them to the audience as good qualities. could be a masterclass in writing if she did something with this, but it's very clear she actually believes that these are good things. once again, if keefe is to develop out of these things and find a better place, even if he makes a few mistakes and "gets worse", so to speak, at various points along his character arc, that would still require his arc to actually like. begin. shannon hasn't even reached that part. so once again, how am i supposed to expect that she'll write any kind of arc with regards to this?
"i hate the way he's so jealous, so passive-aggressive, so toxic to his supposed friends." i've talked about this very, very briefly before, but i'm almost certain that we're supposed to see keefe as being "in the right" during the healing center scene, at least as the way shannon intended for it to be taken. one second . . . okay i found the post where i said it. here's what i said verbatim: "#i really feel like. shannon genuinely did not mean for him to come off so mean#she was definitely banking on the fact that everyone hates fitz#it's FITZ that's the one that's the butt of the mean joke by KEEFE so nobody will care! right? right guys? guys?#and honestly she's probably correct about that because most of the fandom DOES like keefe and hate fitz so like". now obviously i cannot be 100000000% sure, but from years of reading and rereading these books, i've become pretty confident that shannon genuinely wants us to perceive keefe as an otherwise-perfect angel whose only flaw is recklessness and his tendency to self-sacrifice. so those are the only flaws for which she writes a proper arc. and once again, if she wanted to write any sort of arc for him, even one that isn't perfectly linear, she would first have to start my acknowledging that keefe is the possessive, jealous, toxic friend here. but she doesn't.
"i hate the way sophie has to constantly babysit him because she doesn't know what stupid thing he'll do next and i hate the way he doesn't care about that, despite claiming he's doing half the things he does for her." this is the last one i'll mention in this post, promise. his stupidity is the flaw, by the way. i would say it's acknowledged. so congrats, shannon, you've reached the first step. better than i can say for the last four points. but that's where it ends. it's never developed from. keefe doesn't know how to work on a team and is incredibly stupid, something i ran into the ground while writing my rant. and come unlocked, 8.5 books into the series, he is still incredibly stupid and doesn't know how to work on a team. he consulted exactly zero people before running away to the forbidden cities, and while you could argue that it was ultimately his decision, i do think he should've at least gotten other people's opinions. this decision was so monumentally stupid, i cannot wrap my head around it. i'll talk about it more in my part two rant, but in my opinion, it's his stupidest move yet. now, what about the "sometimes things have to get worse before they get better" arc idea for this? doesn't this mean that this could just be a low he's hitting in his arc? well personally i'd say no. because he never reaches a point where he feels like he's working towards not hijacking plans because he wants to genuinely be better and stop. the famous nightfall scene comes to mind, and as i've mentioned before, the reason this, in my opinion, isn't indicative of his arc progressing is that he apologizes entirely out of a desire to appease sophie and win her back to his side, and not because he actually wants to change. so that doesn't count. in legacy, sophie thinks to herself that if she doesn't go with keefe to london, he will find a way to get there himself, once again showing that he has no desire to consider other people's opinions. sophie actually only agrees to go because she's scared of what stupid shit keefe will get into if she's not there to babysit him. she caves to his hijacking, instead of nipping it in the bud, the way she tried to in nightfall. so i'd say there isn't any spectacular moment before unlocked where keefe is getting better with regards to his hijacking plans because he thinks he knows better than everyone else.
okay, now that i've hopefully sufficiently proven that keefe's arc is not a "sometimes things have to get worse before they get better" arc, at least not in the way it's executed in canon, i'll move to the rest of your points:
"as of stellarlune he is at his lowest of lows/The way he treats his friends, his relationships with them, his mental state, ability state, common sense" (sorry for formatting this like the lyrics of a freaking song, but i wanted it all in one paragraph lmfao.)
i disagree with this. i actually think his arc is looking up, with regards to his flaws, at least, in stellarlune. he seems like, to put it very, very bluntly, a morally better person. like he did some thinking in the forbidden cities and decided to get his shit together. this is why i say that i have to read unraveled before making my mind up about whether keefe's arc truly sucks or not. because if shannon has him acknowledge all the things i mentioned and make an effort to be better for himself, because he wants to be, then i can see how i could be swayed to the "keefe has a good arc" side. i do still think the chances of this are incredibly slim, though.
i would tentatively say the way he treats his friends is better in stellarlune. he certainly seems like he mellowed out a bit. he also only has like a couple hundred pages of that book to himself, and even less to showing what he's truly thinking on the inside, so it's difficult to tell for sure. his ability state and mental state are as shit as ever, agreed. but i'm not really talking about that? i'm talking about his arc and the flaws that i dislike about him, that i believe should be developed or at least called out for him to be a decent character.
"And do I think it's gonna get worse than what it already is"
same, but i think that low will be hit in unraveled. i think what we're seeing in stellarlune is actually him getting better from some major low he must've hit in unraveled. but once again, none of this has anything to do with why i dislike keefe. i dislike him because his flaws are never acknowledged or developed out of as the series progesses.
"I fully believe that after he gets past the roughest patch (whether that's him currently or even him in book 10) that he'll slowly start to realize how he's been and start trying to be better and get the help he needs"
one thing that i absolutely despise when it comes to writing character arcs is when like 90% of the development happens in the last like 10% of the series. it always feels incredibly rushed and incredibly forced, and it can be done well almost never. it's my opinion that arcs, and all the major progress and setbacks, need to happen evenly throughout the series so that you really feel like the character at the 25% mark is a different character than the one at the 75% mark, with regards to the thing being developed. i don't see that with keefe. he's a toxic friend in everblaze, he's a toxic friend in legacy. he's stupid in everblaze, he's stupid in legacy. he's manipulative in everblaze, he's manipulative in legacy. there hasn't even been a realization on his part.
having said all that, i do think there is a way to write his arc in unraveled that could at least make me tolerate him. and i do agree that there's a slim possibility that shannon could magically decide to develop him in book ten. but also keep in mind that book ten or book eleven is the last book. so there's a strong possibility that i'll still consider it too little, too late. but they are future books. i'll have thoughts when they come out for sure, but for now it's hard to tell what i'll feel about them.
"I feel like he needs to have the (inevitable) argument with Sophie to finally realized it/Cause trust me as much as I ship sokeefe I really do believe they need to have an argument/Maybe even not speak for a book/But it'll be good for him in the end and hopefully he sees how he's been acting these last few books"
i agree. i've actually talked about this briefly in my keefe rant, except i've talked about how i wanted them to fight in nightfall, not in book ten. here's that part, copy-pasted verbatim:
“Sometimes I still worry that some tiny part of her holds it against me. That she’ll never fully trust me. That she’ll always see me as the guy who betrayed her and stole from her and ran off with the enemy.” (Unlocked, Keefe's diary entries, 494) This would be really cool to explore if it was actually done. Sophie holding this against Keefe and struggling with that in the aftermath of Lodestar would be an awesome way to develop their relationship and have them overcome that hurdle and give them both some much needed development. But we know that aside from a single line at the beginning of Nightfall, Sophie never really blames Keefe. She just immediately forgives him for his time with the Neverseen. It’s pathetic writing. Something like that should have consequences. But it doesn’t, because then our poor Keefe will have to be *gasp* villainized. There could be this whole arc about how Sophie doesn’t trust Keefe the same and it impacts their relationship subtly and both of them feel it but don’t want to talk about it and it’s this giant, gaping hole. Then finally there’s a climax where Keefe confronts her about it and maybe she yells at him and he agrees that he’ll do anything to get her trust back. Then he does it. He does the smart thing, takes the smart advice. And he learns. He understands what he did was wrong and is truly a different person now. Honestly, the fact that Shannon explained this out shows me that she’s aware the possibility of this arc exists, but unfortunately, didn’t actually put it into action. Would it have been the most original conflict ever? No. But it would’ve been much better than whatever this dumpster fire of a lack of an arc she actually wrote is. I think I might’ve genuinely enjoyed Sophie and Keefe as a couple if she’d just made them have some distrust that they overcome through genuine work and growth.
anyway, if i didn't answer your question the way you wanted, feel free to shoot me a follow-up ask. i think i got it, but if i misinterpreted, tell me.
tldr: the reason i don't buy keefe's arc as a "sometimes things have to get worse before they get better" kind of arc is because that would require keefe's flaws to actually be acknowledged and villainized by the narrative, and for them to have actual consequences that affect him, which they do not. this leads me to believe shannon doesn't see these things as flaws, and therefore will never give keefe the development he needs to have a good arc.

Mellies Scandal
Summary : We all know and love Fitz and Olivia’s affair and quarrel. However most of us wanted some sort of justice for Mellie, and one person in particular had every idea to give Mellie just that.
•••••••••••••••••
‼️Warning : Cursing - Light Violence ‼️
Authors Note : I know we all hate when people put their Ocs in a tag for “X reader” but since there is no “Mellie x Reader” fics I am going to put this there to help boost it and find people. If it goes well I will make “x Reader” for Mellie Grant! Until then enjoy! It’s short for now the next ones will be longer

• Nicknames •
Eleanor Prentiss ( Nellie or El sometimes Flo)
Melody Grant ( Mellie or Mells)
Olivia Pope (Liv)
Fitzgerald Grant (Fitz or Fizzy)
••••••••
We all know FitzGerald Grant and we all know the lovely Olivia pope. Who doesn’t love this pairing? Mellie of course and the infamous little sister of Fitz, Eleanor Florence Prentiss. Eleanor is the younger sister to Fitz, she’s the Chief of the FBI office in Washington. She’s married and sort of separated from her lovely wife…sort of ex wife Emily Prentiss who is also working in the Washington office with her.
Eleanor was notorious for flirting with Mellie, who wouldn’t? She was completely and utterly infatuated with the woman and she couldn’t keep her eyes off of her. Something about Mellie just sparked and lit fire works inside of Eleanor. She was always in Mellies corner, despite being the Presidents sister she was a Mellie supporter til the day she died. So upon hearing about her brother affair she was one of the first people inside of the Oval office after getting several calls for her to come there “Melody sweetheart you look beautiful as always. Fitzgerald you look like a fool and so does your common whore here” she said loudly as she walked into the office kicking the door shut behind her.
She stood beside Mellie who sat on the couch and arched an eyebrow at the mistresses in front of her “Is there a reason i’m here? I’m a busy woman I don’t have time to come gossip about your recent screw up” there it was that agitating voice she hated the sound of her voice. She knew Of Olivia Pope they’d cross paths plenty of time and every time Olivia got in her way she had blackmail and the government knees deep on her side “I called you here. We need your help and you weren’t answering his calls”
Eleanor turned to the right slightly and smiled with a low chuckle following past it “You don’t not beckon me anywhere. You don’t ask for my help, as far as i’m concerned nothing at all is stopping me from kicking your ass Olivia. You tell your team to stop ringing my lines i’m busy i don’t have the time to play phone tag” she placed a hand on Mellies shoulder gently squeezing it and giving her a give glance with an apologetic smile and soft eyes. She sympathized and she wanted nothing more then to give Mellie everything she wanted, but it wasn’t an easy task.
Mellie would be lying if she told herself the way Eleanor looked at her and touched her simply didn’t just send a tense feeling down to her core. She picked the wrong Grant that was for sure and she didn’t know what to do from now “I told you it was a bad idea Fitz. Eleanor is working and she hated this as much as I do. You should know that.” Mellie tried to reason with her husband on her sister in laws behalf. He wasn’t listening though and neither was Olivia they’d both decided for Mellie that they would all convince Eleanor.
“Mellie we need her to help us. She has resources and connections we don’t. We all agreed to this” Olivia expressed in a broad tone. Eleanor for one didn’t agree with her brother running for president she hated the idea but she was also a good sister who would support what he wanted even if she didn’t like it “Hey Olivia? Shut the fuck up and let her speak. God do you deal with this every day Melody? This is ridiculous. If i’m helping any of you this piggy backing to defend each other shit is stopping now.” Eleanor snapped at both Fitz and Olivia pointing at the with the hand she took off Mellies shoulder.
Fitz took a sharp breath and groaned loudly “SERIOUSLY NELLIE! You can’t behave for five minutes and play nice! Olivia hasn’t done anything and you’re already insulting her. We need your help! I need your help, my presidency depends on it” he exhausted said in a sharp tone to his sister. Fitz and Eleanor don’t yell at each other and they don’t fight, so the room was so quiet at the moment you could hear a pin drop. Eleanor smirked slightly and set her bag and keys down beside Mellie sending her a wink before she moved past the couch.
A loud slap echoed through the Oval office and left Fitz with his head snapped sideways and Eleanor shaking her hand off as she lowered it “Do not ever raise your voice at me again. You two have done everything wrong, you have ruined her life. Just so you know Fizzy i’m not here for you, i’m here for Mellie. You want my help you find a way to speak to me because next time i’ll make sure you hit the floor and you know I will” as her brother mumbled an apology to his sister rubbing his cheek as he lifted his head to look at her she started speaking again “I’ll talk to Emily. I’ll see what we can do okay? Until then you two don’t go making this harder for me to clean up”
“Wait; you’re still with her? You told me you two got divorce Eleanor. Are you guys still married?” Mellies confusion and jealous was obvious to Eleanor just by the look in her eyes which made her shift in her spot as the first lady stood up with her eyes challenging Eleanor. Eleanor fumbled over her words for a second before she scrunched her nose as she spoke and relaxed it “No…yes? I don’t know we’re— It’s complicated. It doesn’t matter. What matters is i’m fixing this mess and i’ll be here tomorrow and the rest of the week to help” she grabbed her bag and keys from the couch, mouthing an i’m sorry to Mellie before she made her way to the door “and..when i come back Olivia you better be here and on a short leash i know how you get when you get power hungry” she pointedly spoke. She waved goodbye to the secretary and made her way through the white house halls calling Emily to figure out how the hell she’d clean this up.

The cycle of abuse that all the Farseers go though oh I'm ILL.
horrific of Robin Hobb to make me suffer through the agony of Fitz's childhood of trauma and pain and then show me Fitz trying to help Dutiful navigate HIS trauma and pain. Fucking fuck.
Both of them had their first Wit bond be one of the worst things to ever happen to them.
Nothing breaks my heart like how much the cat earnestly loves Dutiful like she just wants to hunt and get her fur brushed :C
It's so sick how ultimately Nighteyes and the cat are so similar because Fitz and Duitiful are so similar, both of them want equally to be beasts and also be loved yet because of who they're bonded to they are forced into a life in which that can never be possible.
I'm so sick and ill and dying and suffering over these characters MAAAN.
Fitz is going THROUGH it watching Duitiful be abused for the singlular crime of being uneducated. If anyone actually cared about the fucking Farseer children beyond what they can do for the Six Duchies then they would've stoppped pretending like the entire bloodline isn't drenched in Skill and Wit like GUYS.
Time and time again we're shown that neglecting these truths leads to so much harm and yet everyone is like "haha what if it continued anyway"
Regal, Chade, and Verity you will ANSWER for your fucking crimes >:C
RAAH.
It's not even Fitz's fault that he wasn't a 'good dad' because my guy was literally sexually assaulted into having a son. Like fuck dude. I wouldn't want to live my life in Buckkeep trauma town either! Even if I wasn't fake killed!
Also horrible that Beloved who thinks he's to blame for everything that Fitz has ever been through is so content to die for the small reason that it MIGHT make Nighteyes live a little longer and thus mean he hurts Fitz a little less is SICK AND TWISTED.
Fuck you Peladine all my homies fucking hate Peladine.
OH YOU FUCKING FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCKING FUCK
I KNEW I KNEW I KNEW THAT THE DOMESTIC FUCKING FITZ AND NIGHTEYES FUCKING MOTHER FUCKING SCENES WERE BECAUSE OF THIS SHIT HAVE THEY NOT BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH????
HAVE THEY NOT SUFFERED ENOUGH??? BROTHER!!!!!!
Also. Bro. Starling. I thought u were chill. Like not chill to lie to Fitz that was fucked but now. Ugh. I'm so exhausted I just. Ugh. I literally need to have a big sleep and probably a cry to process this fucking book.
I swear to god I'm gonna rip all my hair out. Like Fitz CANT tell my guy Duitiful who he is, but at the same time its gonna be shitshow when he finds out.
I'm actually so fucking diseased.
Though I will say it is a balm for the soul watching Duitiful try to interact with Fitz his weird fake magic dad and Fitz's equally weird nobleman husband. He's probably like Dang, two father figures for the price of one.
I don't even. What I do. I just need a a sleep.

when you get into a series and then stupid shit happens.
.
so, i got into a podcast from 2019 called 'The Two Princes', and i love it. it's very charming, basically like a show in audio form, and full of queer. listen to it frequently, got into the tags on my socials, found some fanart and fics and a bit of inspiration.
but during my searches of fanart, i came across two things.
people calling the main relationship ( rupert x amir ) an EtL
some people comparing it to c//a
both of these severely bothered me, and i'm gonna explain why.
for the first one, it's very simple. rupert and amir were not really enemies, in terms of their actual dynamic. according to this red herring of a prophecy, though, they are 'meant' to be enemies.
however, rupert lies about not being the prince of the west ( amir is prince of the east ), saying he's a thief, that his name is fitz, and that he wants nothing to do with his kingdom. this isn't because he holds any ill-will to his own kingdom, but because the east and the west are hostile and he didn't wanna get killed by amir leaving him behind in the forest.
so, their actual dynamic was more of 'unfriendly strangers to friends to lovers'. because amir was a bit uppity and micromanaged, while rupert was more soft(?) and tended to overreact // overly panic. that, and the span of the first season is 3 days. you can't really go from being enemies to lovers in 3 days. in most cases, i guess.
anyway, moving onto the even more frustrating point.
the princes are nothing like catra and adora. absolutely nothing alike. not even a little.
i'm guessing part of the reason is because amir asks rupert to stay. but the context of that situation vs catra repeatedly demanding asking adora to stay is entirely different.
amir asks rupert to stay because, despite being prickly, rupert saved his life and continued being kind to him. he doesn't ask him to stay because of any self-importance, or because he wants rupert to do dirty work, or for any other reason but because amir likes him and wants them to be friends.
that is entirely different from why catra kept demanding asking adora to stay. she kept asking because she couldn't take no for an answer. because adora's ideals didn't align with hers. because she wanted adora for herself, and took any other options as a personal attack.
and another reason this comparison exists, i'm guessing, is because of the whole "they saved the world // universe // kingdom // wtv by kissing and being gay", which. that's still. no. but okay.
the prophecy in 'The Two Princes' is a red herring because it's misleading. it's not intending to be, but it is. everyone thought it meant that the two princes would fight to the death and one kingdom would rule over, when it actually meant for one kingdom to unite the east and west.
and amir and rupert figured that out by kissing and later on deciding to get married ( that's a general way of saying it, but it's cute, aight? they're very cute ).
in the final episode of spop, there was no actual reason or explanation for why any of that happened. it just happened because the show wanted it to.
why did a viral infection go away the moment catra kissed adora? THE FUCK IF WE KNOW!
why did that activate she-ra? 'CAUSE- LOVE! EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE SISTERS, BUT WHATEVER!
why did the heart get destroyed by that? WHO CARES? WE DON'T!
final assumed reason is, again, because of the whole EtL thing.
like i said, 'The Two Princes' is not an EtL story.
and spop was never supposed to be an EtL story. but it is one, so there's that.
anyway, the writing isn't perfect, but if you like podcasts and wanna hear a cheesy-ass queer show with a disaster gay prince, disaster bi prince, a badass lesbian knight, a bi diva, a feral gay twink, a pathetic flirty gay twink, and a dragon and a dog, then give it a listen.
and there's a goat unicorn.

The thought keeping my mind running at the moment is a Sierra Six x Sierra Seven blurb/quick one shot that's these two internationally known killers/spies/however we want to categorize them who can take out anyone flawlessly with no trace struggling to help Claire on some algebra homework or something. Like imagine these two trying to figure out how SAT prep works and how to use the quadratic formula, because I'm pretty sure there would be more frustration and absolutely confusion shared between the two of them than in this little teenagers mind.
Homework Problems | Sierra Seven x F! Reader
Word Count: 955 A/N: I really hope you like it! feel free to send me any request for myre Sierra Six stories id love to write them!!!
Tumblr media
You were an international spy, not many things puzzled you. Today was when you learned that math was the one thing that would puzzle you. As you sat at the kitchen table next to Claire the numbers scribbled on the page were like a foreign language to you, and you knew many.
“This...Claire what the hell is this” You asked, eyebrows furrowed together. Claire looked up at you with the most amused look on her face.
“Seven, this is...this is math,” Claire said, giving you a questioning look, “you do know..”
“Yes, i know what math is...I just haven't done it in a very long time”
“So you don't calculate an angle before you shoot?” Claire asked.
“Claire be honest with me, do I look like I calculate things,” You asked. Claire thought for a moment before responding.  “When it comes to Six, yes,” She told you, glancing outside to the x-spy patiently waiting in the yard for Claire's dog, Fitz, to go to the bathroom.
“Besides Six,” I asked her, still looking back at the puzzling numbers on the page.
“Umm I don't know, I mean when you and Six saved me it seemed like you did,” she told you, referring to the time you saved her and shot a guy just by looking into a mirror. You shook your head.
“Honestly Claire Its muscle memory now, I fight because I know how to fight, this domestic life it’s different, its a new thing ill have to learn,” You told her honestly, “But this, me you, and Six that I know how to do that, but math and homework and school its all-new”
“I know,” She told you, “Thank you for being here for me”
“oh sweetheart, of course, I'm uh your mom now so I have got to take care of my family, and don't think Six doesn't check the house three times before we go to bed, just to make sure you safe,” You told her, “Now, tell me how to do this math”
“Well it's for this test called the SAT and I have to like solve it and find the answer” Claire explained after the smile left her face.
“Textbook?” you asked. Claire nodded her head.
“I have one” She exclaimed.
"Why don't you grab it,” You told her calmly
“Right,” She said and marched off to her room to find the math textbook.
“Six?” You asked, Six strutted over to you his face lazy and he finally looked calm.  "Yes," he answered, a questioning look on his face.
“Do you know algebra?” You asked.
“Not really, haven't done that in a few years,” Six said.
“Well, Claire is studying for..the SAT I think and I have no idea what math is involved with it,” You told him. Six scratched his head.
“Shit i knew this was something we would have to do” He said.
“And this just slipped your mind?” You asked, He nodded.
“I was going to mention it but she never came to us...” Six replied a hand ran over his face and an exaggerated sigh left his lips.
“Wait, you're telling me, essentially our daughter didn't come to us for homework help?” You asked, “We are failing as parents Court,” You said.
"Hey, y/n we are doing perfectly well under these....did you just say, parents?" He asked you.
"Well, I mean yea? Look at us Court? I care about Claire so much and all I want is a normal life for her and to not have to look over my shoulder anymore." you told him.
"I want that too," he said pulling you in. "Now, let's try and figure out these math homework things so that we can better help her," he said laughing and pulling away. Claire re-entered the room, with a knowing and happy look as she sat between the two of you.
"Now I have to solve this thing called the quadratic formula," Clair said flipping to the page with the unknown language you still wouldn't decipher.
"what the....Claire do you want my head to explode?" you asked her.
"haha I don't think Seven can comprehend math," Court said, laughing with Claire.
"And you can?" you ased your counter part.
"...no," he said, the silence before his answer made Clair bust out even more in laughter having tears spill from her eyes.
"Omg if I had known asking my parents to help with math would lead to none of us knowing I would have just gone to get tutoring," she said in between bursts of laughter.
"I'm sorry kiddo, I mean really I don't remember much math from that far back," you said, thinking back to the years when you were her age. You had been convicted of arson before graduating and math was the last thing on your mind in prison. You had met Court not too long afterward being around 20 or so, and math was the last thing on your mind at the academy.
"y and b.....wait why the hell are there letters I thought math was all numbers and shit?" Court asked Claire breaking you from your thoughts.
"oh...yea I guess they have letters as substitutes for numbers"
"that is not logical," Court said, he pushed the book away with a grumble, "You said you could go to tutoring?"
"Yea they have a tutoring center at school," she said.
"I think they will be better helped than us with this...quadrophonic equation shit"
"It's quadratic," she said snarkily.
"Whatever, it's bullshit," Court said with a grumble.
"Okay why don't we stop with math and move on to something else," you said directing the conversation away from the frustrations of math.

An X-Ray Ain't Needed To See Within- Dex Study (ish), Minor Fedex
Word count: 7.9k words
Ao3 link here.
Aaaaaaaand here I am, nearly a whole month late, but my kotlc secret santa gift from @song-tam 's exchange is finally done!
@an-ungraceful-swan I'm your secret santa!!! So sorry for being as late as I am (the shit going on in my personal life was unreal) but I hope this near 8k fic will make up for the wait!
Because I was told to just "surprise you", I let the brain pick out a concept and spun it around in my head until this fic was made
That is, I took the vague premise of a fic from a different fandom -> the idea that every person is to be entrusted with taking care of someone else's heart—quite literally. Other than that, it's basically a canon rewrite of books 1-4 (ish, not all through 4) from dex pov with minor (pre-relationship) fedex
Warnings: depiction of the kidnapping/torture scene from book 1, bug stab Fitz scene from book 4, descriptions of heart anatomy (not too graphic but still fair warning), brief mention of vomit
Hope you enjoy!
•~•~•~•~•~•
"What's that?" A young Dex asked his mom. He'd barged into his parents' room without warning them, and saw Juline holding a heart in her hands, singing softly while Kesler held her hand with one hand, holding a different heart in the other.
"They're hearts," Juline said, but Dex knew that much.
"Why?" There were a whole slew of questions, like why the hearts were beating despite not being connected to a body, or why they were coloured in different shades of blue and green and yellow even though they should have been red, or where they even got a heart from. Dex was just barely older than a toddler, and while elves were born with some understanding of the world around them from birth, he’d never seen this before.
Kesler and Juline shared a look, and Dex didn't like that his mom was starting to frown. Was this supposed to be a secret?
"I don't want him to know everything yet," Juline said.
"He'll have to know eventually," Kesler said, "and it's not that bad."
Juline raised an eyebrow. "Tell me you weren't terrified when you first held a heart in your hand. I know I was."
"Fine, yes, but we'll help him adjust. The risk is minimal, very few have--"
"But she was one of them. Kesler, please," Juline said, her voice quiet, "We'll wait until he's older, okay? He’ll already have enough on his plate as is."
Kesler closed his eyes and took a breath, then squeezed her hand. "Sorry, I didn't think of her--okay. We’ll wait."
"Wait until I'm old enough for what?" Dex asked.
His parents both startled, turning to look at him, as if they'd forgotten he was right there.
Juline hummed, letting go of Kesler's hand so that she could trace gentle lines across Dex's face. "I'll tell you a little bit, but I won't tell you the rest until you're older, okay? Once it’s relevant to you."
"How much older?"
"Three years," Kesler answered.
For Dex, that sounded like a really long time. But as young as he knew he was, he was old enough to be able to tell when there were certain topics that made his parents upset. Abilities were one of them. Discussing the triplets with the other elves was another. He didn't know all the details, but he knew that the other elves didn't like his parents and they thought his siblings were wrong, and he knew they didn't like talking about those things in front of him.
Dex nodded. "Okay."
Juline held the heart out to him. "When you grow older, you'll have a heart to take care of."
The heart in her hand was a myriad of colours, it reminded him of Slurps and Burps with all the random splotches of colours all over it.
"Does it bleed?" Dex asked.
Juline smiled at him. "No, it doesn't. Do you want to touch it?"
He nodded, curious. When she held the heart out to him, he gently traced a finger along an artery. It was warm. It really was beating, and he didn’t imagine it.
“It represents the heart of another elf."
"Another elf?"
"It represents your dad's heart. It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Dad's heart?" Dex looked at Kesler, who had a fond look on his face. He was cradling a heart of his own in his hands, this one lacked the same colourful whimsy, but the various shades of blue with hints of colour had Dex thinking that it suited his mother. He opened his mouth to ask if elves always married the person who held their heart, then realized that was a stupid question because the elves didn't like his parents' marriage.
"Will I get a heart to hold too?" Dex asked.
"Yeah. You will."
•~•~•~•~•~•
What Dex assumed to be "several years later," Dex woke up and found a teal heart on the nightstand beside his bed. Blue-green, with hints of navy and gold that seemed to trace along where the blood would have flowed had the heart been in an actual body.
He'd had full intention of just lazing in bed for the entire morning, but he knew he had to tell his parents. He took the heart in his hands, beating softly, a rhythm unfamiliar to him. He walked to his parents room--they were already awake, Kesler preparing for work, while Juline was gently carrying her husband’s heart.
"Dex?" Kesler asked, "what's up--oh."
"It's about time he received his heart to hold," Juline said. "Dex, come sit down on the bed."
He sat down. Despite how he'd seen them direct plenty of fond looks towards their own hearts, neither of them seemed particularly excited to talk about his heart.
"To have a heart means to take care of it. But there's more to it than that, isn't there?" Dex asked.
"Let me be blunt with you," Juline said. She looked pained, her turquoise eyes slightly dull. "You must take care of your heart. If you do not take care of it well, the person who that heart belongs to will die."
To the average elf, it would probably have an initial shock. Elves lived forever, as far as they all knew. Elvin deaths were rare, a few wanderlings planted, but still, only a few.
To Dex, he himself had never witnessed a death. He had never known, never had been in this world long enough to know, but still, he knew, he knew that his family was haunted by a death from before he was born, and that because of it, he rarely ever got to see his aunt and uncle because they isolated themselves from everyone else. He'd never be able to grow up knowing her.
"Did cousin Jolie's heart..?"
"Her body was in a condition where she could have lived," Juline said, looking away. "But her heart–her heart had been burnt too much in the fire."
"Oh," he said, because what else could he say?
"To take care of that heart, you must keep it physically safe. But not just that, you also need to keep it emotionally safe too. An emotional or mental issue can be just as severe as a physical one."
"So I'll need to keep it around me often," Dex understood.
Kesler nodded, reaching out to ruffle his hair. "It'll be fine. Elf hearts aren't too fragile, so don't stress too much, okay?" Then looked down at his heart that was Juline's, the blues looking slightly pale. "You'll be able to recognize signs beforehand." He traced along an artery, and Dex watched as his mother closed her eyes, the tension releasing from her shoulders. Vibrancy flowed through like blood, painting it. "I know you'll take care of it well."
•~•~•~•~•~•
On occasion, Dex noticed how the heart would react differently. It wasn't at any regular occurrence, though it always seemed to last a few hours at a time. When that happened, he held the heart closer, turning it over in his palm. It tended to have a slow, steady pulse; the beat of a drum, the tick of a clock. Slow, steady, controlled, but during the odd moments the heartbeat would grow faster and weaker, like panic seeping into his bloodstream sometimes, when it made his skin all clammy and pale. It was the gold of the heart that would fade first, then the navy, though the teal always seemed to stay intact. At least though, the heart didn't get clammy like his hands would. No gross sweat or blood, just a beating heart.
He wasn't sure why, but sometimes he got the feeling that the elf the heart belonged to was kind of lonely. He'd seen Kesler's heart, bright and vibrant. Even Juline's had its own sort of uniqueness to it. The heart he held was beautiful, a piece of art, but distant. A painting that was not allowed to be touched after having been made.
Dex wondered how old the other elf was. The heart in his hands was smaller compared to his Kesler's or Juline's, so maybe it was possible that they were around Dex's age? He'd hope so. He'd be starting Foxfire at some point, it'd be nice if he had a friend there. One that wouldn't mind Dex being the son of a bad match, one who wouldn't be too judgmental.
•~•~•~•~•~•
When Dex started Foxfire, he had high hopes. Hopes that were quickly crushed. As he walked in the hallways, he could sense gazes following his path. No table ever wanted to let him sit there, so he tried finding random corners in the hallways to eat by himself, until one of his mentors noticed and took pity on him, allowing him to eat in that classroom. There was Stina, who openly insulted his family, so he got his revenge only for the situation between them to escalate.
And then there was Fitz Vacker. His first meeting with Fitz wasn't special, he happened to be with his dad and sister as customers for Slurps and Burps, and just like all the stuffy nobles, both him and Biana Vacker cringed at the sight of his family's apothecary. Maybe he wouldn't even have remembered him if he wasn't a Vacker. There were tons of people who shopped at the apothecary only to never acknowledge him in Foxfire. But then he saw Fitz again. And again. And again. In the hallway on his way to class. In the cafeteria as they waited in line to get the same food. The winner of the splotching tournament--had been, for years, if the screaming was to be believed.
Fitz was everywhere, popular, so many of the girls had a crush on him. He heard non-stop mooning about whether the heart they held would belong to him. Top marks, perfect looks. Dex was sick of it. Fitz wasn't special.
It made him almost want to hate the heart that he held, that teal heart that matched his eyes. He scoffed at the thought that the person whose heart he held was Fitz, or even Biana. Yet it was still a beating heart, his to nurture, and no matter how much the colour irritated him. Somewhere out there, there was someone who was relying on him. The thought alone pushed him forward.
•~•~•~•~•~•
During his next year at Foxfire, a new elf named Sophie Foster came out of nowhere. She lived with Aunt Edaline and Uncle Grady, she was an elf that once lived with humans. If that weren't cool enough, she didn't seem to care about his family and their status. Yeah, sure, it was because she didn't really know anything, period, but she still took the information in stride and chose to be friends with him.
And she was kind of cute. And smart, and totally fun--she'd gotten on Stina's bad side and destroyed Lady Galvin's cape. And...
And of course she liked Fitz. Because of course she did. Why wouldn't she? The perfect guy.
•~•~•~•~•~•
"Is that a--is that a heart?" Sophie asked.
They were taking a break in between one of Sophie's alchemy tutoring sessions, and Dex had grabbed his heart to unwind.
"Yeah? Why do you sound surprised? Don't you have one of your own?"
"No???"
Huh. That was weird. "Wonderboy didn't mention it to you or anything?"
"No??? Is this a normal elf thing?"
"Each elf gets a heart to take care of, it represents the heart of another elf. It's important, because breaking the heart means killing the elf."
"Oh. Am I exempt from this, because I don't remember a heart? Or did I accidentally kill an elf?"
"You're probably fine. While the elf who holds your heart isn't the only elf who can take care of your heart," he began, "the fact that you haven't died yourself says something. Besides, elvin deaths are super rare, remember? I can't remember the last time there was a Wanderling--Wylie Endal's mother, maybe?"
There had been a change in her facial expression, but Dex decided not to press. The Council actually explored that, ensuring there was no risk of attachment. Besides, the elf that Jolie loved--Brant, if Dex recalled his name correctly--was still alive as he proceeded to take care of his own scarred heart. That's what his mom had told him when he'd asked.
"Huh," Sophie said. "Well, whoever's heart I was supposed to take care of, I hope they're doing well."
"Yeah," Dex murmured, "me too."
•~•~•~•~•~•
Sophie started hanging out with Fitz and Biana, much to his annoyance. Like, going to his house on a constant basis hanging out. She even had him promise to keep the Wonderboy bashing to a minimum.
(But she also considered him her best friend, so he supposed he could take it as a win.)
•~•~•~•~•~•
Sophie. A Vacker. Or, potentially a Vacker. Grady and Edaline had cancelled her adoption, and she could be adopted by the Vackers. Siblings with Fitz and Biana? Gross.
Maybe he was too harsh on Sophie when he'd told her not to trust them. But she didn't understand—they didn't look at people below them and view them as equals. And it was proven as such, when Stina, of all people, exposed Biana for only having befriended Sophie because her dad told her to.
I told you so, he wanted to tell her so badly, but they were in Study Hall. Do you see what they're truly like—
"Dex?" A voice called out, and he nearly jolted as he realized that Fitz was talking to him. Ugh.
"What?" he asked, the acid in his voice so strong even Fitz flinched as if he’d been burned.
"You need to be with her."
"You two are the ones who caused this mess—"
"She won't talk to us. She needs you."
Dex almost started screaming at him for cutting him off, but the words made him freeze. He paused, took a deep breath. "Am I supposed to put in a good word for you? Newsflash, Wonderboy, I'm not doing that."
Fitz sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Just be there. I don't-- I don't want her to be alone."
And that got Dex standing up, immediately grabbing his stuff. Damn it, leave it to Wonderboy to get him to realize that Sophie's comfort meant more than his own petty sense of righteousness.
When he made it to the cave at Havenfield, something felt off. He took a few tentative steps forward. Another few steps, and a voice that sounded like Sophie's rang out in his head, telling him to run. Before he could even think, someone grabbed him from behind, shoving a cloth over his mouth.
No, he thought. Sophie. He fought against his captor and...
•~•~•~•~•~•
He woke up, restrained. Everything was dark and he could barely breathe and it was burning it was burning—
In the off moments where he was awake and not burning until he fell unconscious again, he would barely be able to muster worried thoughts. His parents, how were they doing? The triplets.
Sophie. Sophie, who must be somewhere close and was also in the same situation and she was being tortured too. His heart. The one he normally held wasn't with him since he kept it at his house when he attended Foxfire, but what about the elf who held his heart? Did the elf care?
He fought against his restraints, managed to break free of them.
He'd barely made it two steps before a voice said, "One more step, and the girl dies."
"We should just kill him anyway," another voice said. "He's useless to us. A hindrance."
Dex sank back onto the chair, feeling absolutely useless for not being able to do anything.
•~•~•~•~•~•
When he woke up, he was in some unfamiliar area with Sophie, no kidnappers in sight. Turned out that they were in the Forbidden Cities. But that was fine, they were safe. Well, for now. Apparently there were a lot of secrets that Sophie had kept hidden from everyone. A telepath.
He'd also at some point manifested as a technopath. Huh. He was relieved that he had an ability, but ugh, did it have to be technopathy? It wasn't nearly as cool as telepathy.
The kidnappers had come again, one of them wielding a fucking melder, and as he was shot by it once, twice, and he was incapacitated on the floor, he could vaguely see Sophie trembling in rage as they all fell over. He couldn’t move, talk, or even see, but he knew when Sophie had picked him up to leap despite them being too injured and—
•~•~•~•~•~•
When Dex woke up again, he was laying in a bed. He had half a mind to just sink into the soft comfort of the bed, but as he woke up, all his senses awakened: the burns on his skin, the sting from the melder.
"Sophie," he gasped.
"Hey, relax," a voice said, and Dex opened his eyes to see Keefe staring at him. "You can't get out of bed yet."
"But Sophie--"
"Foster's alive," Keefe said, "she's alive, and Elwin's going to see her before he comes to see you."
Dex tried to pull himself into a sitting position, but it hurt too much, and Keefe had to help him out. "Is she okay?"
Dex watched as Keefe paused. His eyes closed, as he took a deep breath. He turned away, then back at him, and Dex had a feeling that he wasn't going to like what his answer was going to be. As if delaying to increase the weight of impact, turning to the desk next to him and picking up a heart.
"This is the heart I hold, it belongs to Foster," Keefe said. "I realized it when... well. You'll see."
Dex sucked in a breath. The heart, brown and gold and red looked so frail in his hands, just barely beating. The entire left side was nearly transparent, from ventricle all the way up to the aorta. He could actually see the red flow of blood, slow but not steady.
"The light leap," he realized. He remembered being carried, remembered being leaped. All of him was intact, not a single cell faded away, and he wasn't conscious enough to provide his own concentration to leap them. Sophie she-- she put everything into him.
"Foster's alive," Keefe repeated, "and Elwin's going to see her."
Dex stared at the heart that Keefe had, desperately hoping that she'd be okay. Looked at every heartbeat, to see if each pulse would become slower paced. So when the heart was still faded and Elwin had walked into this room, he was worried.
"Sophie's sedated, and I can't lie and say that she's okay right now," he explained before Dex could start rapid-fire asking questions, "but I can't do much else for now without waiting to see if what I've done for now will let her heal. So for now, I'll work with you."
Dex had been to Elwin once or twice for minor incidents at Foxfire for his elementalism class, and while getting healed wasn't bad, it wasn't really something he liked per se. However, there was no trace of discomfort as he could only focus on Sophie. His eyes couldn't leave the half-faded heart.
Elwin's gaze followed his own. "That's... a weird heart. Sophie's, I'm guessing?"
Dex nodded.
"That's probably good to keep close, given Sophie's already high attendance at the Healing Centre."
Elwin had said it as a joke, but neither him, Dex, nor Keefe felt like laughing.
"Are you going to tell her about the heart?" Dex asked.
Keefe paused, surprisingly hesitant considering what he knew of him. "You two are close, have you seen the heart she has yet? Would you say it reflects me well?"
"Sophie doesn't have one with her," Dex said. "She's got no memory of ever seeing a heart like that."
Though, now knowing what he knew, Dex guessed that the Black Swan probably had her heart? Since no human would be so accepting of a living, beating heart.
Keefe blinked. "Oh. Then... I guess I won't tell her yet. Don't tell anyone else either? At least-- not until she gets her own." He looked back up at Elwin, and Dex had forgotten that he was even there. Elwin nodded.
After the worst of Dex's injuries were healed, Keefe and Elwin left to go see Sophie, while he was ordered to rest for a bit. He knew that sleep wouldn't come easy, but the stress of everything had kicked in and eventually he was knocked out. At some point, the door had opened, quiet but enough to rouse him into consciousness. He was too tired to open his eyes. Footsteps approached the bed, close, stopping a few steps away. There was the sound of a heart beating, maybe. He could feel his own heart in his chest beating in time to the sound.
"It’s you..." A whisper sounded out. Quiet, low, familiar.
He wanted to open his eyes and see who was there, to see if it was who he thought it was (not that it made any sense at all for him to be here), but it was nice and warm in bed, his heart feeling warmer than ever as he drifted back to sleep.
•~•~•~•~•~•
"Dex!" Bex called, running up to him and hugging him. His two brothers joined the call, all of them shoving to hold him close. Dex wrapped his arms around them.
His parents stood slightly off to the side, their skin paler than he remembered. Both of their hair was messy, and he could see as they clung to each other's hands.
"Don't leave us ever again," Rex cried, smearing his tears on his shirt. Neither of the other two triplets made fun of him for crying as they both fought back their own tears.
Dex could only nod, his throat too choked up to speak. He could only hope that would be true.
•~•~•~•~•~•
Weeks passed, and slowly, Sophie recovered from having almost fading away. He'd spent his fair share of the time alternating between hanging near Keefe to stare at Sophie's heart, and taking care of the heart that he had.
His own heart... during the kidnapping, what had it looked like? Did it mirror his state too? Had there been burns all over it? He could vaguely picture someone cradling it, oh so confused as to what was going on. Did they panic? He supposed that no one had been able to connect the timing of it all back to his disappearance, given that nobody came in rushing to tell him.
Then again, who would have wanted to admit that they held Dex Dizznee's heart?
•~•~•~•~•~•
For the next few weeks, everything went back to normal. Sort of. He visited Sophie to help her with the animals at Havenfield, helped his dad at the store, sat in his room and tinkered with gadgets—this time using his ability.
He'd tried working on a variety of inventions, his major priority having been a device that would somewhat replicate telepathy.
He also had a side project, he wondered if it was possible to be able to know the heartbeats when he was not with the heart.
His parents were concerned, rightfully, but they were getting way too on his case. Between them and looking after his siblings, he felt suffocated.
But other than that, things were back to normal-ish (if he ignored the nightmares and the constant dread he felt).
...until Sophie found an alicorn, then suddenly she had a whole bunch of secrets she couldn't tell him, and she was so busy that he could barely even see her. Both Fitz and Biana weren't coming to Foxfire.
The heart he had, it was doing something weird, and it had him panicking. It was slightly swollen, the arteries and veins bulging a faint red, not unlike the way the veins in his hands would when he clenched his fists trying to hold back his anger at the triplets for breaking yet another thing of his. But that kind of anger was situational, just a brief moment. Maybe at worst, lasting a day, if he was having a really bad day.
The heart represented an elf's physical and mental state. He didn't know much about how hearts worked physically, but Dex had the feeling that the problem with the other elf wasn't physical. Obviously though, everyone would go through a variety of feelings, and not every feeling could be reflected from moment to moment.
So the problem was clearly mental, and it was clearly huge. The weird bulging persisted for one, two, three, more days.
"So, just the three of us?" Marella asked during lunch. "Again?"
Sophie and Keefe had ended up in detention, so the group at the lunch table was the smallest it'd been in a while.
"Something's clearly up," Dex said.
Marella rolled her eyes. "Obviously. The Vackers not being here is proof of that."
The group fell into an awkward silence, and not even Jensi's generally uplifting demeanor could ease it.
"The heart I have has been acting weird," Dex said suddenly.
Matters of the heart were generally kept private, but he didn't want to keep it to himself, and he didn't really want to tell his parents yet, even though they'd probably have some kind of solution.
"Weird how?" Jensi asked.
"It's getting all bulge-y, it's kinda gross."
"Mine's been paler than normal lately," Marella said. "Not quite shrinking in on itself, but curling weirdly. It almost feels like it wants to hide away. Been like that for a few days now."
Nobody said anything else after that, and they went back to eating their lunches in silence.

The whole elf heart scare had him working harder on his invention. He couldn't keep the heart on him at all times, it was too fragile to do so. But he needed to know. Needed to know if the heart would burst.
When it was revealed that Alden's mind had broken, when his wanderling had been planted and he'd learned that Fitz was blaming Sophie, he almost thought that it'd be another thing for Dex to hate Fitz for.
He thought back to the heart, ready to burst, and Fitz's explosive anger. This much... this much he didn't think he could hate Fitz for, even if he was being an ass. He thought of his parents trying to keep him in his house, the triplets telling him what they'd been like while he'd been proclaimed dead.
Fitz's own manifestation was a stranger to him in the sense that Dex had never been in that state before, but understandable nonetheless. If he didn't dislike Fitz, if they'd became friends, maybe Dex would comfort him.
But Dex did dislike him, and they weren't friends, and so Dex turned all his attention towards the heart. It was the only thing he could really do, while Sophie had her own things to do and Keefe was helping her.
Nothing he did seemed to work, but whether the other elf had gotten over it or if circumstances had changed, the swelling had eventually gone down and the heart looked normal again. The beats were slightly unsteady, but the heart didn't look like it was ready to burst.
(He tried to not think about the timing of it all.)
•~•~•~•~•~•
Someone decided to be a snitch and tell Dame Alina that he'd manifested as a technopath. Ugh. He blew up on Sophie a bit, and then learned from Dame Alina that the Council had told her.
The Council.
The Council? They cared about his ability? Enough to have his mentor be Lady Iskra? The most famous technology who invented like... everything cool.  Sure, his ability wouldn't do much, but he got to work with Lady Iskra.
•~•~•~•~•~•
He finished the heart monitor, and then began to work on a panic switch for Sophie, because the kidnappers would come again. He knew it. He made them both into rings, and he gave Sophie the panic switch ring. And yeah, he knew that a ring wasn't the greatest, but it was the best option he had.
He could see it on her face though, that she wanted nothing to do with it. Half of Foxfire were talking about their matching rings, but that wasn't the point. The point was that Sophie needed other ways to be able to reach out. Not just to Fitz via telepathy, but also to him.
Because he was important too. She was his best friend. He was her best friend, as she'd called him. But lately, he didn't feel like that was the case.
•~•~•~•~•~•
His next invention was an ability enhancer. Sophie was going to heal Fintan, which was definitely going to be dangerous, and she needed to be able to have every card in her favour. An Ancient's mind wouldn't be easy to penetrate.
But when he told her about his invention, she didn't want it. She didn't seem to trust him. But she trusted Fitz, enough to let him past her blocking apparently. Because they had a "connection."
What about her connection with him? Did they not matter?
"Seriously?" Fitz asked, staring at the circlet. He couldn't for the life of him tell if that was curiosity or disgust, but when Keefe grabbed it out of his hands, he forgot all about that.
Dame Alina told him to put it away and for them to all be quiet, and he was hurt that Sophie didn't even consider using it.
I think... A voice said in his head, and he jolted when he realized it was Wonderboy. I think it's cool, but it's too risky.
Seriously?
This entire task is risky, he thought, carefully trying to not think of anything too awful.
I know. But that's exactly why we can't use it yet.
Was that Fitz's way of comforting him, or what?
We can't rely on technology to replace telepathy in this situation.
Wonderboy, get out of my head, he thought bitterly, turning his gaze down to his notebook as reread all his notes on the circlet.
...surprisingly, Fitz left without another word.
What was even the point of that? He didn't understand, he would never understand. What would someone as privileged as him know what Dex was feeling, to be able to even attempt comforting him?
•~•~•~•~•~•
As the healing proceeded and Dex was just stuck at home, he couldn't just sit and rest. His siblings were running around screaming as though everything were normal, but everything was not normal.
He alternated between holding the heart, fidgeting with the ability enhancer and looking at his panic switch. When the heart started beating fast, somehow Dex knew that something was wrong. And even though he knew he wasn't capable of helping at all, he rushed out to see his parents—
—only to find his dad just as distressed as he was.
"Dad, what's wrong?" He asked, trying to swallow his panic.
Kesler only said one word, but that was enough: "Everblaze."
He started rushing out, grabbing all his alchemy supplies and Dex followed after him.
"No," Kesler grabbed his shoulders, and Dex froze. "You can't come."
No no no absolutely not. "You'll need every alchemist."
"I said you can't come, Dex. And that's final."
They're in danger, he wanted to say, and he had no idea if he was talking about Sophie and the others, or the elf whose heart he held.
When Kesler left, Dex didn't even take off his shoes. He kept staring at his ring, wondering if Sophie would call for him.
...of course, she didn't.
The next few hours passed by in a blur, even though he was just holed up in his room. He kept himself busy, and was surprised when his dad came back, Councilor Terik accompanying him. What was a Councilor doing in his house--his room? It was even weirder when Kesler nodded at him and left the two of them alone.
"Dex Dizznee, the technopath. I see you've got quite the workstation here."
Dex bowed, flushing at his words. Was that supposed to be a compliment? An insult?
"Dame Alina mentioned that you were working on an ability enhancer?"
"Y–yeah. I am. It's untested, and—"
"Can I test it?"
"Um," Dex said, not knowing how to reply to that. "I designed it with telepathy in mind specifically, so it wouldn't work on you."
"I see. I think your inventions have great potential, Mister Dizznee."
"Really?" Dex asked, beaming. A Councilor thought he showed potential? "You think it'll work?"
Councilor Terik smiled at him, a thin, wan smile. "Maybe not an enhancer. But... an ability restrictor, possibly."
Dex could tell what he was talking about. If Fintan didn't have his pyrokinesis, he wouldn't have set Everblaze.
"But that's not what I wanted to ask you about. The Council would like your help in the creation of weapons."
He mouthed the word, hating how it felt on his tongue. Weapons. Elves didn't usually use weapons.
...but Dex had a weapon used on him, and he could still remember the shock of the melder—
"I'll do it," he said.
His own inventions, needed by the Council. To think the Council would want help from a Dizznee. If only Stina could hear this, see that Councilor asked for his help specifically, had thought he displayed potential in his talents. No one would talk bad about him or his family again.
"I'll get back to you on what kind of weapons that we will want soon. I'll also be bringing up the restrictor with the others, so it may be possible that we'll ask you to create one."
Dex nodded, and Councilor Terik left.
•~•~•~•~•~•
No. No no no, it couldn't be like this. They'd told him that the restrictor would be used on people who needed their abilities taken away, and Dex had imagined those black-cloaked figures, those murderers.
He didn't think it'd be used on Sophie.
He watched as she convulsed in pain, falling to the floor, curling up. A few cries had escaped her, and nothing could be more haunting than that.
Apologies spilled from his lips, and when Sophie looked at him, she looked so broken.
"I'm not having anything more to do with this," he said to the Council, "I'm not helping you with that."
"And need I remind you that disobeying a direct order from the Council is an exile-able offense?" Councilor Emery asked.
He didn't care if he went to Exile. Not if it meant this.
"It's okay, Dex," Sophie said, "Just do what they're saying."
"How can you say that?" He asked, his voice cracking.
How could she bear that pain? Bear her abilities being taken away, becoming Talentless, and knowing it was due to the hands of someone who proclaimed to consider her his best friend? How could he live like this? It was a betrayal. And he couldn't do anything, he couldn't fix it, because they threatened to exile his family.
He thought... he truly thought he was helping. Making a difference. Being useful.
But never in his life did he feel more useless than he did now.
•~•~•~•~•~•
Sophie drank slumberry tea. A sedative. Something he knew she refused to use. He visited Sophie, apologizing uselessly, and he came across the others--her friends. They were Sophie's friends, not his.
Unsurprisingly, none of them were able to meet his eye. None of them jumped him, beat him or anything like that, and he supposed that was the best he could ask for. For a moment, he thought he'd felt Fitz's gaze on him, and he wondered if Fitz was going to transmit in his brain again like he did earlier. When he looked at Fitz, he turned away, and his mind remained silent.
...he wasn't sure why that hurt, considering he didn't like Fitz, and Fitz sure as hell wouldn't like him. It's not like anything he could have said would make things better.
(But anything, anything, would feel better than the ashamed glances directed at him.)
•~•~•~•~•~•
He had Sophie promise to use her panic switch if she needed anything, but he didn't think she'd use it so soon. She wasn't at Havenfield. He leaped there as soon as he could, and saw Everblaze burning.
A pyrokinetic, holding a ball of fire ready to be thrown at Sophie and Grady. Dex didn't think, he ran and tackled the elf. It bought Sophie a few seconds, but the elf had grabbed him by the throat, his voice that had haunted his nightmares. Fingertips searing his skin just like his memories.
With the help of another invention he made, he was able to send Brant--he was pretty sure he was Brant, based on the little he'd heard--reeling, and they restrained him. He was ready to make sure Brant was captured, but Brant knew about the Black Swan's ambush.
He didn't hesitate to take off that circlet from her head, throwing it into the Everblaze. The Council could exile him, that's fine with him. But he refused to let anything happen to his friends.
•~•~•~•~•~•
After everything, the Council would be after them. Sophie was planning to run away to the Black Swan, and he knew that he wouldn't let her go without him. They left for there, Keefe, Fitz, Biana too. It was weird, being roommates with Fitz and Keefe. He hadn't exactly been friends with them--eating lunch together at Foxfire had always been more about their mutual friendship with Sophie.
The riddles unfortunately did not stop, but at least they were assigned a mission. Of course, that didn't stop them from doing their own snooping.
•~•~•~•~•~•
"Did Mr. Forkle ever give you your heart?" Dex asked Sophie.
"I did try asking once," Sophie replied. Her face scrunched in annoyance. "He said it'd be a distraction. I mean, come on, I get to be the freaky brown-eyed elf with lots of abilities, and they think I can't take care of a heart? I feel bad for whoever's heart that is, I'm sure the Black Swan's too busy to notice every detail."
"I'd feel bad for them too," Dex said, trying not to think about how Keefe's mom was a part of the Neverseen. That heart would definitely need a lot of comfort.
"Are you two talking about hearts?" Fitz asked, walking into the room, holding a heart in his hand.
Huh. He never thought he'd actually see Wonderboy holding one. It was on the smaller end, blue and rusty copper and bits of green.
"Oh, that's cool, can I touch it?" Sophie asked.
Fitz's eyes flitted to him for a moment, then nodded.
"Is it hard to find out whose heart belongs to who?"
"Depends," Dex shrugged. "If the elves are already close with each other, then they're more likely to figure it out."
"It's not a documented system like Matchmaking is, so there are plenty of elves near ancient who probably have no idea who their heart belongs to," Fitz added.
"So I'm guessing it'd be stupid to ask if you knew who your heart belonged to?" Sophie asked.
Surprisingly, Fitz tensed. Both him and Sophie started staring into each other's eyes. Probably having a telepathic conversation. Gross. He waited a minute before he pretended to gag, and the two jolted.
"You should... tell them," Sophie said quietly.
"I know," Fitz replied, his voice just as soft, "but they won't be ready to hear it. I don't want them to feel obligated."
Ew, they were still ignoring that he was there. And what was that about what Fitz said? Feel obligated? People would give the world to be able to brag about holding Fitz's heart, even if it wasn't romantic. But like everyone had a crush on him anyway, so how on earth would it be an obligation?
He was surprisingly loyal, got angry and spiteful like everyone else, that golden image just a coverup. Not as perfect as what they all thought him to be, but he was a good friend. He was willing to run away from his perfect life and perfect family, to side with Sophie. To do everything in his power to help his world.
And that, Dex could respect.
•~•~•~•~•~•
Dex had spent days practicing working on the lock from Exile so that they could rescue Prentice. He was a little worried when Sophie's directions were apparently taking them to the surface. Even more so when the lock was changed, and they couldn't even access the inside of the cell.
The Council even showed up, trapping them. Things were escalating, and Mr. Forkle was ready to turn himself in. But not if Dex could help it. He'd brought several different small cubes with him, in case anything happened. The first filled the room with burning green mist, the second squawked and served as further distraction.
The third was zapped by Councilor Zarina, and--
It was going to explode.
"Everybody get down!" He screamed, but the room was too loud and no one could hear him.
No one but Fitz, who grabbed it and flung it away from them all. But not in time for the explosion to send him flying, landing right on the sharp horn of an arthropleura.
He was running before Sophie could even scream stop, was already kneeling at his side. Dex reached for his chest to stop the bleeding, only to see that one of his hands had already been stained with blood without having even touched him yet. It dripped down his palm, originating from one of his rings.
No.
He hadn't known his ring could do such a thing, but he knew what it meant.
Fitz got sent flying because of his own gadget. And he wasn't stupid to not realize why his ring that monitored the heart would suddenly start streaming blood staining his hands. He hated that he couldn't tell which of the blood came from Fitz, and which came from the monitor of his heart as it all mixed together. He just knew he had to fix this. He had to, because he couldn't let Fitz die like this. The blood was thickening from the venom, and it didn't look good.
Dex took his chance and leapt out of Exile with Fitz, where an elf with a sparkly mask was waiting.
"You're back quicker than I thought, where—oh." She froze when she saw Fitz in his arms, and they both carried him to the medical room. "Are the others still there?"
He nodded. "He needs a physician, can you get them?"
The other elf was hunting through cabinets, pulling out several vials and bottles and salves. "Physic, resident physician. I'll take care of him from here. It'll be really messy."
He opened his mouth to protect that nothing that he could see could be messier, she repeated that he should go, and she'd give updates.
He reluctantly agreed, and went to wash his hands dry of the blood. But the ring was still bleeding, and when he picked up the heart, it wasn't in great condition either. The gold lines were black with venom, and it had left a bloody mess on the nightstand. He grabbed a basic first aid kit and a bunch of towels and sat on the floor by the fireplace, carefully tending to the wounds on the heart. He hoped that bandaging the heart would help slow down the bleeding in Fitz's body. If nothing else, he could do this much.
Now that he looked back at the heart, wasn't it obvious that it belonged to Fitz? Teal like his eyes--something which had long bothered him, but he'd grown used to, gold like his image he always portrayed.
Fitz's heart, huh. That's whose heart he held.
When the others arrived back, they all stared at the bloody heart in his hands, but they said nothing. He didn't say anything either, taking comfort in every beat, because every heartbeat was proof that Fitz was still living.
Mr. Forkle told them that Fitz had stabilized, and they all rushed to his room. And oh. He looked even worse than Dex had thought. Black spiderwebs painted his chest. It looked even worse than it had on his heart earlier. Maybe his heart would've reflected it too, if it weren't currently bandaged.
"Oh, you have his heart?" Physic asked, turning to Dex. "That'll make his recovery from near death go smoother. You should've told me earlier."
"I only just found out," he mumbled, reluctantly handing her Fitz's heart.
"Good thinking for bandaging it. I had thought that the bleeding had gone down easier than expected."
She went back to treating Fitz, and it was messy and the vomit was disgusting, but he couldn't bring himself to leave. He had to stay. Once Physic was no longer needed in the room, he decided that he and Fitz should probably talk.
Fitz looked at him, and Dex didn't know if he wanted to meet his gaze or look away. He settled for looking at his neck.
"How long did you know?" he asked after a few seconds.
"Know what?"
"Don't play dumb." He picked Fitz's heart off the table from when Physic left it there. "This."
"A while... your kidnapping."
Dex tensed. Since then? He knew since then? Though, with the burns, maybe it wasn't hard to figure out.
"And you never told me?"
"Would you have wanted to hear it?"
He let out a breath. It wouldn't. He would've hated it. He would've hated the irony that the elf he'd hated most held his heart.
His silence must have been enough of an answer, as Fitz didn't say anything else.
"I'm sorry," Dex said, trying to keep his voice from cracking. The heart in his hand both comforted him and pissed him off at the same time. "I almost got you killed."
"You were trying to get us out of there," Fitz said, smiling weakly at him, "and we made it out. You don't have to blame yourself for this, you wouldn't predict Councilor Zarina's electricity."
"Not just that. I'm sorry for hating you so much. I'll try to hate you less."
Fitz blinked. "Why do you hate me?"
He almost wanted to roll his eyes, it felt like such a stupid question. But it wasn't like he had a good reason to hate Fitz at this point either.
"You're everything I'm not. I hated it."
Those few words couldn't represent the waves of emotions that had flooded him for years, but he didn't know how to say it.
"I..." He said, knowing he was going to sound stupid for saying it, "I wanted you to notice me."
The heart in his hands skipped a beat.
"Do you-- do you want to try being friends?"
Friends. With Fitz Vacker. If the Dex from a few years ago heard that, he would've laughed.
"I'll try," he mumbled. "I don't promise anything more. If nothing else, your heart is in my hands."
Fitz's weak smile turned bright, blinding him. Dex turned away, not knowing how to react to that. He wasn't sure how to react to the twitch of Fitz's arms either, as if he wanted to ask for a hug.
"Rest well, Wonderboy," he whispered, as he rushed out of the room.
Thump. Thump-thump.
Fitz's heart beat steadily in his hands, and Dex thought that his reluctant words would probably end up a reality.

❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤍🖤💖💔💕📖🏳️‍🌈🏳️💀
hi cas. pls answer my questions
To preface this I have only been on the outskirts of this fandom for a hot minute but because you asked me so nicely to reblog this I will give my two cents
❤ mischaracterized by the fandom
I'd I had to say that anyone was most mischaracterized it would have to be hm. Dame Alina. They hate to see a woman winning. She's very much written to seem like a bee eye tee see ach but like. If my boyfriend dumped me for a girl 100 years younger then me I'd be pissed too.
🧡 popular theory I disagree with
I don't actually know any current theories you'd have to send me some and I'll see if I agree with them
💛 popular ship I can't get behind
I've seen a large amount of Fitz and Marella shippers right now (lavacake?) And you know I respect the hustle but they're gay girlbesties to me I just can't see them dating. Otherwise I was literally the pioneer of every poly ship ever back in the early days. Multishipper Supreme
💚 what does everyone else get wrong abt your fave character
That Fitz is well adjusted. Or that his attitude problems somehow manifested out of nowhere and he was definitely not affected by his tumultuous childhood and borderline abuse but you didn't hear that from me
I would need to take a deeper look but if it's anything like it used to be probably everything the fandom thinks abt dex.
💙 - not as hot as everyone thinks
I would have to say uhmmmmmm kenric (pun not intended) I never vibed with him
💜 - hotter then everyone thinks
Bronte. He could get it
🤍 - not as morally bad
This is a difficult thing I would have to say uh. Idk do Sophie antis still exist? She can do whatever she wants forever. Fitz and probably Linh as well based on how she acted in the last book. Alina also since I said that before
🖤 - more morally bad
Literally every adult that isn't Grady, Edaline, Juline, Kesler and Della
💖 - unpopular opinion
Apparently thinking Alden is a bad father is unpopular atm so there's that. Also disliking forkle maybe he's always given me rancid vibes. Also I would like to say i think alden being a bad or not great guy would be a fantastic writing decisions
💔 main character you would remove
Lol. Forkle. Either one of them. Or both
💕unpopular ship you like
Is there such thing as an unpopular ship? I was pretty sure we were a great multishipping fandom. I like sofitz! And Fitz and Linh
📖 book you would take away
This new one that's coming out lol. I really don't care abt whatever Keefe got up to
🏳️‍🌈 fandom thinks they're queer but you don't see it
It's impossible for me to not see the possibility of queerness in everyone
💀 who should die
I'd say forkle but he's technically dead. I also don't want alden dead because I think the story would be really cool if she leaned into him being a bit nefarious. Lady Gisela probably cuz like. Idk how she keeps surviving this shit. Mostly for the dead to stay dead this isnt supernatural
Welcome to discussion abt any of this but BE NICE it's a book series. I respect your opinions, please respect mine
