Alex joins a Championship football team during the winter transfer window. It’s the biggest move in his career, and he’s nervous about proving his worth, especially because of the team he’s joined. It was once managed by his footballing hero, Arthur Fox. He played at the club, and later managed it for a number of years before his untimely death. Henry, having come through the ranks at the club, is their club legend. He’s their top goal scorer, the first name on the team sheet and captain. He’s adored by fans and players alike. Henry is also gay, which is somewhat of an open secret. The players and staff know, but Alex doesn’t until later on. Alex believes that he’s straight, until one night with Henry that makes him question everything.

During a break from a council meeting, late at night in his chambers, after another training session with Azula—all he does is write to her. Because he needs to let her know that he's alright and their plan is working. She needs to know that he'll come back.

"You're not supposed to be here." Peching on the roof edge is batman, staring down at the child crouched.

The child, blue-eyed and black haired, looks up at him with wide eyes. There is this weird but familiar feeling to the boy, like he'd know him, of his existence and his face– those eyes.

They remind him too much of Dick and Jason, have a hint of Tim as well, Damian's greens shining through the blue.

His hair has some blond spots, Stephanie his mind connects, and Batman shakes his head, denying these similarities.

The child is still watching him, head tilted and listening.

"Brother," Lady Gotham's voice echoes by his side, Bruce gives her an acknowledged nod.

"This one," she appears around the child, something Bruce has never seen his sister do before. Closer than any civilian she'd ever protected.

Batman re analyses the moment, finally taking the similarities to his former partners/children and tensing.

"Is mine." Her hands, borderline claws, hold the child gently, Lady Gotham is careful in her handling, crooning.

Bruce nods slow, accepting. "What's his name?"

"He prefers Danny." The shadows flicker around Batman's feet, unbothered.

"Is there a reason he shares the features of every Robin?"

Lady Gotham smiles knowingly, picking up her boy with bright eyes.

"Just as I am created by people's beliefs and wishes," she pets the unruly black hair. "So is he when you first got Robin."

morgana and arthur have a sleepover when they’re teenagers and morgana brings out this summoning spell and arthur is all “magic?!?!?! :o thats wrong we cant do that” and morgana just says “pussy.” and then arthur is helping her set everything up. they light the candles and chant in the old tongue and then BOOM a figure appears but it’s not the mighty god emrys the text talked of, it’s just a boy a couple of years younger than arthur, scared and confused, who answers to the name merlin rather than emrys. while they’re arguing, merlin goes stiff and is like “do you hear that?” and then trails out of morgana’s chambers in a trance and obviously morgana and arthur follow him and they end up way beneath the castle where theres a fucking dragon???? now emrys, the once and future king, and the witch are chillin w a dragon and talking about destiny. none of them are happy about this btw

i feel the need to remind everyone that Damen’s literally one of the smartest and most well-educated characters in the series. He’s extremely well-read and knowledgeable about military tactics and strategy, which if you didn’t know also includes a huge depth of history knowledge, and his talent comes from both education and years of experience. He’s smart enough to know geography and terrain information of an area he hasn’t needed to have information on in seven years, and even then, the lands they are talking about were in mainland Vere, not Delpha, so his studies were his own initiative. he has favorite poems! HE ENJOYED DEBATING OBSCURE PHILOSOPHY WITH HESTON!!! like y’all Damen is just as intelligent as Laurent, it’s just that Laurent’s intelligence is about manipulation and chess and Damen’s just a nerd.

(also people are gonna be coming for me for this one but i think Damen likes books and libraries a lot more than Laurent ever did)

The thing I love about fanfiction that focuses on “irredeemable” characters is that most of the time it says, “you are forgivable, you are lovable, you are important.” It says that you are capable of growth and that you can overcome your past. And I think seeing that as a teenager saved me. I thought I was unlovable and then I got older and started understanding the world through my own eyes rather than my parents’ and I started recognizing my mistakes and I thought I was unforgivable. But fanfiction told me, “you can change and you can be wanted and you can be loved,” and that gave me the space to forgive myself and love myself.
