Now that there's no school, intrusive thoughts are coming out
We know that in the TLNM Kai & Nya are in the same class. And there's the fact that Kai is older than Nya. Well, I have 4 guesses on why they're in the same class:
Kai & Nya are twins
Kai's a repeater student
Nya (and probably some of the other guys too) moved up a grade or two
Kai was older than he should be when he managed to get education (or in better words, if 4 is the right age to be enrolled for preschool, Kai got it when he was 5 or older)
P.S. I don't know if there's a confirmed answer for this. And dummy me for putting 3 💀💀💀

Emotional Disconnection in Lloyd Garmadon: A Psychological and Narrative Analysis
In the most recent season of Ninjago, many viewers noticed a significant shift in the characterization of Lloyd Garmadon. Compared to previous seasons, Lloyd appears withdrawn, distant, and shows clear signs of emotional flattening. His involvement in key events is minimal, his verbal contributions are scarce, and his body language reflects a noticeable sense of detachment. A friend and I even ranked Lloyd as the third ninja with the least screen time this season—only behind Cole and Jay. However, even they maintained their typical personalities in their brief appearances. What concerned us most was the absence of his visions, a trait confirmed as permanent in the previous two seasons.
At first, this change was frustrating. However, after discussing the matter with a friend who is about to graduate in Psychology, she offered an interpretation that completely shifted our perspective: Lloyd may be experiencing emotional disconnection as a result of accumulated traumatic events. Based on this hypothesis, we developed two plausible theories, both supported by psychological literature.
Emotional Disconnection: Clinical Definition and Foundations
Emotional disconnection is a psychological phenomenon associated with conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociative disorders, major depression, or even temporary adaptive responses to chronic stress. Broadly speaking, it refers to a reduced or lost ability to experience or express emotions, whether as an unconscious defense mechanism or as a symptom of a greater disorder.
In high-stress emotional contexts—such as repeated traumatic experiences (war, loss, betrayal, guilt, excessive responsibility)—the nervous system can enter a prolonged state of hypoactivation, meaning a general decrease in emotional, behavioral, and cognitive responses. This phenomenon is also known as emotional numbing.
Common Symptoms of Emotional Disconnection
Social and behavioral withdrawal: The individual avoids active interaction with their environment. In Lloyd's case, this is seen in his passive stance, scarce dialogue, and minimal group engagement.
Affective flattening: There is a visible reduction in emotional expression: few smiles, rare signs of distress or anger, even in situations that would typically provoke them. This matches Lloyd's attitude, as he rarely reacts emotionally during critical events.
Feelings of unreality or detachment from the environment (derealization): The world may feel distant or artificial. Narratively, this could be reflected in scenes where Lloyd silently watches events unfold, seemingly disconnected from his surroundings.
Disconnection from one’s own emotions (depersonalization): The individual may feel like they're acting automatically, without personal involvement. This could explain why Lloyd behaves mechanically in combat or lacks clear motivation.
Reduced motivation or initiative: Often, there is a loss of interest in previous activities or a lack of energy to act. In a setting like Ninjago, where characters are usually proactive, Lloyd’s passivity becomes even more striking.
Blocking or suppression of intense memories or mental processes: In individuals with traumatic experiences, the mind may suppress access to emotionally threatening content. In Lloyd’s case, this could explain the temporary absence of his visions.
Clinically, these symptoms align with conditions like PTSD, dissociative disorders, or even adaptive forms of depression. Lloyd’s training with Rontu gave him tools to manage his visions, so he may have learned to suppress them as a coping mechanism. However, such suppression can trigger an emotional rebound—an abrupt and intense resurgence of emotions or abilities—which could signal a major narrative turning point in the second half of the season or in future installments.
Application to His Visions and the Two Proposed Theories
Theory of emotional repression of visions: If Lloyd is in a dissociative state, it’s plausible that his visions—often emotionally intense (e.g., foreseeing death, betrayal, or failure)—have been unconsciously blocked. His training with Rontu gave him some control over these visions, and he may have “shut off” that channel as a form of self-protection. This aligns with clinical patterns observed in individuals who choose not to access unusual mental functions (in narrative terms) to preserve their mental stability.
_ _ _ _ _
Theory of resignation due to inevitability of visions: Another theory suggests Lloyd still has visions but no longer fights them. In battles such as those against Zeatrix or Thunderfang, he doesn’t use his usual combat style: instead of confronting, he dodges, retreats, and attacks from a distance. This behavior may reflect a resignation to a fate he has already foreseen.
From a psychological perspective, this relates to the concept of learned helplessness (Seligman, 1975), where a person, after repeated failures to avoid a negative outcome, stops trying and adopts a passive stance. For Lloyd, this might be a form of emotional self-preservation: if resisting the vision changes nothing, perhaps it’s better not to resist. This narrative arc is powerful because it ties directly into his past development: Lloyd, who always rebelled against his lineage and tried to shape his own destiny, now seems to be surrendering to the weight of inevitability. This may be a direct consequence of the battle with Zeatrix, where he believed he had overcome his vision, only to see it come true anyway.
Professional Conclusion
Both interpretations are supported by legitimate psychological concepts. In one case, we see the effects of trauma as emotional dissociation; in the other, cognitive adaptation to a perceived inevitability. Both are plausible in characters exposed to constant stress, loss, the burden of responsibility, and supernatural abilities that carry a mental toll.
If this portrayal was intentional—which is likely—we are witnessing a characterization that realistically reflects real psychological processes, adding depth to Lloyd’s arc and opening new possibilities for future development.

How would they react to you kissing them on the cheek as a bye + they have a crush on you {Ninjago addition}

Tumblr media
Lloyd - His sloutched posture turned to a straight back immediately, having been caught off gourd but not displeased with the attention he received. Finally this boy was thinking about something that wasnt being a hero and saving ninjago. Small boyish smile reached even as he tried to act cool, seeing as you reached out of sight for him his ears popped into a hot pink, and even his face was hot to the touch.
Jay - Only laughed a little after like nothing but felt as if he was on cloud nine, his heart beating quickly in his chest even with his 'Stay cool' facade that Kai had tried to teach him into doing. After you had left him he was giggly and touching where your lips had just briefly touched his cheek, celebrating to himself.
Kai - The ego of this man went through the sun, his usual smirk had formed into a more genuine smile. It felt odd having someone show interest in him as usually it was he who always did, it made him feel warm(er). Definitely let it get a little to his head for the rest of the day.
Zane - He had the least reaction, but the butterflies in his stomach had appeared yet again. The tiniest smile on spread on his face as he watched you leave, feeling accomplished and appreciated even from the small action of affection from you.
Cole - Definitely the kind of guy to not give it too much thought in the moment, but rather thinking of it for the rest of the day. It's not that he didn't want it more or less the fact he didn't expect it and far from it. A secret he would keep for himself only.
Nya - Shocked for the first few seconds after, but nonetheless she enjoyed it, taking it as a hint to start showing her interest with you (even though you might have already cought on). Feeling her palms being a tad bit more clammy than usually for the a while rest of the evening.
Morro - Scoffing after as he crossed his arms, shaking his head. He was in denial about his feelings, and you've only made it worse for him. His heart would've been beating fast if he still had one. After his experience of being a ghost, he didn't feel much, but that was the most warmth he'd felt in a long time on the inside.
P.I.X.A.L - Dose not register as an affection and question it, not used to being shown like this. Definitely went and searched up about this later and found out what the potential meaning could be she was happy, to say the least.

THERE ARE SPOILERS UP AHEAD FOR NINJAGO DR S3!!!!
This post will be tagged properly, but I placed that warning just to be safe. You have been warned~
Now get ready for my dr s3 notes, in no particular order of importance
- Right off the bat, I love love love Frak. We didn’t get to see his personality on full display in s2, and now that I know what he’s like I freaking love this guy. He’s kind of a dick, but not on purpose, more like in a teenager way. He really reminds me of the early season ninja, when they just said whatever tf they wanted, whenever. With Arin and Sora being pretty sweet most of the time, and Wyldfyre being a little pest but not actually saying anything controversial, I like that an overly opinionated guy got added into the mix.
- with that being said, I really didn’t expect Sora to be given a real love interest, but I don’t hate her and Frak as a possible pairing. Ik people interpreted her as a lesbian but idk pan Sora also works for me. Their dynamic is pretty fun. I like that Lloyd can’t pick up on the fact that they’re bonding and not actually full on arguing.
- PIXAL MY BELOVED IS BACK AND HER EYES ARE OOPY GOOPY AND HUGE!!!!!! WHY ARE THEY SO BIG, IS IT TO SEE HER DARLING HUSBAND WITH?
- Zane being goofy w/Pixal as soon as they reunited was what got me to tear up. That might sound weird but I love love, and their love means so much to me :[
- I didn’t know I needed and Lloyd and Pixal hug until they did it and now I need more Pixal hugs with her friends
- “Wow it’s awesome that Morro got his moment. He’s so epic and noble now, what a guy. I hope we see him again.”
- The second and only other time I cried was because of Arin and Sora’s friendship backstory, and when they hugged again for the first time in ages. God damn the writers didn’t have to make their dynamic and friendship that amazing but they did. They are the definition of platonic love, together until the end. While it’s sad that Sora left with Arin and Ras, it actually makes me so happy that she chose friendship.
- ^^ And now to add on. It was obvious from the start that Ras was lying about Arin’s parents. His non specificity about their deaths cemented it for me, and what shocked me the most wasn’t Jay’s reveal. What shocked me was that Jay instantly knew exactly who the ninja were talking about when they mentioned Arin’s parents. Is his memory really good? (It would be ironic, I know) but if Jay was really managing that many people, for like 7 ish years, the idea that he remembered these people who mean nothing to him right away is so Jay of him.
- NOW FOR JAY. He was really awesome as Rogue. Bro was kind of a beast. He took so many damn hits, yet he was suddenly “really hurt” the minute he was offered a warm and safe place to rest (🥲). I doubt his reluctance to go with the ninja was real and not an act. I think he’s genuinely sad and lost, and then these kind people showed up and he doesn’t know how to react without claiming it’s weird. I’m excited for him to learn to be vulnerable again. That was kind of his whole thing before, wasn’t it?
- I need to know what happened to Zane’s actual body. Is it in the suit? Is it under maintenance somewhere else? Like hello?!?! Imagine transferring bodies and being that chill w/it. It will for sure be addressed (I think)
- I really like that Kai and Nya got so many moments together. They deserve to be with each other, and annoy each other to death after being separated for so long.
- For the people who got sidelined a lot- Wyldfyre and Cole - here is why I don’t mind it too much:
- Wyldfyre was given a boyfriend, and while they like each other a lot, I did think they needed more development. And development is what they’re getting. I also liked seeing Wyldfyre apply her lessons with Kai about remaining calm(ish) when things are looking bad.
- Cole, on the other hand, was nowhere to be seen for most of the first half of s3. Why do I not care too much? Because they’re really trying to hammer in the fact that Cole is a family man now, with a responsibility to his husband (yes husband) and his kids. That’s my interpretation, and now I need the writers to commit to a lostshipping kiss :]
- “Well I think that wraps everything up. I’m glad that boss dragon was defeated, so anyways- Oh, is that Morro again? Cool, maybe he’ll get to see the ninja or- wait what’s happe- THAT DRAGON ATE MORRO? He FucKinG ATe hIM WHAT TJE FUCK YOU CANT END IT LIKE TJAT-“

Jay as Samurai X
This AU has been on my mind for longer than a day so I figured I would post about it lol.
Jay Walker never becomes a ninja. Jay's parents ended up taking him to an orphanage instead of the junkyard, and Sensei Wu, no matter how long he searches, cannot find him. So, he must continue and find the other ninja without him.
Sensei Wu recruits the others, and tells Nya immediately that she's the Master of Water. Cole, Kai, Nya, and Zane soon become the protectors of Ninjago.
Jay begins working at a mechanics shop, feeling an urge to build vehicles and tech, an urge that he couldn't explain. After a while, he begins to notice how light bulbs break around him, how he has a strange connection to the lightning in the sky, and how he, and sometimes others around him, get shocked with electricity without any cause. It doesn't take him long to find out that he's the son of the previous elemental Master of Lightning, through a bit of digging online, discovering that she had a son that she had given up at the exact same time Jay was admitted into the orphanage.
But he's scared of what it means. He's scared of the lightning. He's not a hero. He's not like the Ninjas that save Ninjago every week. He's just a guy that didn't have friends. Who could barely afford to live in the city. Who had no family. He couldn't use his powers to do the good that they did. He would only mess things up if he got involved, that he knew.
He couldn't use his powers at all. He knew how dangerous lightning could be, and Jay couldn't control it. He didn't know how. And he didn't want to hurt anyone.
He buys a vengestone bracelet not long after this discovery, knowing that the stone dulls elemental powers, wearing it every day and every night, needing to hide the part of him that scared him, needing protect others from the lightning he possessed. It made a dull pain throb in his body, but it was worth it.
But, after Ninjago City is nearly destroyed by the Great Devourer, a new girl comes and uses the mechanics shop that Jay works in. Nya was beautiful, and Jay connects with her immediately. She seems to understand him in a way no one else has before, and for the first time in his life, Jay doesn't feel alone. They became friends very quickly, and when Jay asked her out on a date, she doesn't say no.
It doesn't take her long to tell him that she's the Water Ninja. Jay can't help but be shocked. He thought that the Ninja were people who were powerful, who were perfect, spending all of their time protecting others, devoting every second to catching the bad guys. He thought that they didn't bother doing things regular people did, that they didn't make any mistakes.
But Nya was exactly like him. Sure, she did save the world every so often, she was strong, but she also loved building vehicles, she loved ice cream, and laughed at all his jokes. She sometimes crossed a few wrong wires, she had bad hair days, and she had a bit of a temper, but she was still a ninja. She was a hero, but she was a person, too. She wasn't an all powerful being Jay was scared of, he could even relate to her. She was human, she made mistakes, and something about that made Jay relieved.
She taught him that the Ninja weren't all powerful beings who were above regular people. They were just like him. She taught him that anyone, whether they had powers or not, could be heroes, too.
Jay was inspired by that. But he wasn't strong enough to take off the vengestone bracelet yet, not sure enough of his own abilities and control to let his powers be free.
He wouldn't let that stop him, though.
It didn't take him long to build his mech, the Samurai X suit, a suit of armor that let him save others, let him help Nya, without risking letting his lightning be free.
And he loved it. He loved saving others, he loved the tech he uses, and he loved proving that he didn't need his powers to be a hero. He didn't need to be anyone more than who he already was.
Nya knows it's him right away. The other Ninja fight to find out who the Samurai X was, desperate to know who was beating them to their fights, but she kept silent. A few months in, Jay reveals his identity, and Nya eagerly introduces him to the other Ninja, so thankful that the man she loved had become a hero, too, and found the strength to finally tell her.
Sensei Wu catches on to the bracelet Jay wears right away, and confronts him about it, knowing that this was the boy he had been looking for for years. And soon Jay is torn between hiding his powers from the people he could now call his friends, continuing to be Samurai X, a hero that he was proud of being, or he could take off the vengestone. He could learn how to use the lightning that he was born with, the lightning that he was terrified of, for good, using it like Nya used her water, with control and kindness.
Jay doesn't know if he's strong enough to. Jay doesn't know if he's ready to let the lightning be free. But he also doesn't know if he's ready to pass up a chance to understand what he could do if he finally let his fears fall away.

Lets yap about Geode and why it's practically canon!
Contains spoilers
Okay I've been wanting to write this for a while but never had time to. However, winter break just started! I should be working on some unfinished school work but I don't care about school. So here it goes! This is basically why Geode (Cole x Geo) is canon/will be canon.
Tumblr media
So first, I wanted to talk about how Cole never really had an actual love interest up until now. Sure, in season 3, there was the stupid love triangle thing with him, Jay, and Nya, but it was confirmed by the writers that Cole never really had feelings for Nya and was just confused by the attention she gave to him. I'd also like to assume that P.I.X.A.L's perfect match detector thing also threw him off. (I'm just gonna call her Pixal for the remainder of this, yes she'll be mentioned again)
He also never had much of a romantic relationship with Vania. Sure, they were close and had a great friendship together, but that's where it ends, just a friendship. They never really did anything more. And when it comes to Ninjago, they make the love interest very obvious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The writers are also very aware that they haven't given Cole a love interest. They make subtle jokes about it, like in this scene. While the ninja are hanging out with their significant other (expect for Lloyd who had a love interest but uh... we saw what happened the Harumi...) except for Cole. He's instead looking at the cake that the woman is holding up. The writers of the show also have said that his love interest is cake as a joke, so they're aware that they haven't given him a love interest yet.
Tumblr media
They also once posted this on the Lego.com website as a poll. This might be far fetched but to me it implies that there might be someone else in the future that will be Cole's lover. I know that it says girlfriend but it doesn't mean that the someone Cole is yet to meet can't be a guy. Maybe Cole is a bisexual too we can't take that completely off the table either.
Tumblr media
Now, let's talk about the actual ship of Geo × Cole. Geo is not as social as the other and is more timid. He keeps more to himself. However, with Cole, he's an open book. He raised a whole family with him. They're also rather close. Cole has never been that close to anyone other than the other ninja, and even so, it still took him a while to get used to them. So him being so close to Geo as fast as he did is quite attached to Geo. And if that isn't gay then I don't know what it is.
Tumblr media
Now this is the part where I talk about my personal favorite and probably one of the most canon ships ever in Ninjago, PixZane. (Pixal x Zane, told you I was gonna mention Pixal again 😉) It is very obvious that they love each other and is canon that they're dating. So, why did I mention them? Well, they never explicitly say, "We're dating." Instead they say that they're "compatible." Zane also says that she has "Half of my (his) heart" Which all of those are all just says of saying that they're in love and dating. Also they both have a strong attachment together. I mean, Zane is desperate for Pixal in Dragons Rising, and in the comic, Zane's Pixal Project, he's so desperate for her and is willing is sacrifice himself for her. In fact, Pixal only says, "I love you." In Crystalized. Took them only 8 years to finally hear something less nindroid-y but that just proves my point more. Yeah, with all of that plus the stuff I didn't mention, they're dating at least.
So why did I mention all of this? Well, a common rule for story writing is, "Show, don't tell." Very common in real life to, like phrases like, "Your actions speak more that your words." So they would apply that rule to a ship like Geode. I mean, the hints are very loud, yet sneaky in a way. Enough for me to apply the gay label but not enough for someone to say it's 100% without a doubt canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd also like to say that the writers of the show hype up and imply this ship more than a little. One of the writers of Ninjago posted this on his Instagram. The writer is also gay so that's some extra points. (I got it from here.) Also I just realized that the little effect thing around their hands make a heart, so I'll add that to the evidence list. Also this clip, Doc Wyatt seems to support the ship. So I'm pretty sure the writers are planning something big for them, maybe... a kiss? Who knows?
Tumblr media
Now, in the end, it is a gay ship, so they have to be much more vivid about it or else the show could get banned in certain places around the world if they do make it canon. However, other cartoons do have canon LGBTQ+ representation that's more prominent. (Ex. The Loud House - Clyde's dads (Howard and Harold McBride) + Luna is a bisexual, Adventure Time - Princess Bubblegum and Marceline) Plus, there is some LGBTQ+ throughout the show which I talk about more here. (Shameless plugging XD) So it wouldn't be out of character for Ninjago add a gay ship in the series. Not only will it give them more open doors since it shows how they're willing to add queer relationships into the show, so they might add some more queer relationships. It would also make Cole the first canon LGBTQ+ ninja of the main 6.
Tumblr media
Okay, well I think that's about all I have to say about the most gay characters in Ninjago. Also thank you for all the likes + reblogs on my queer Ninjago post, I like yapping about this show clearly, especially the queer part cause I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community so I might as well spread my pride. I literally love Geode so much please make it canon in my life.
Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys their winter break, gets lots of presents this year for Christmas, and stay up for New Years. Make sure to stay healthy and have lots of fun with family and friends.

Cole X Kai
Lavashipping
Phantom tags: Cole has no idea what's going on, Kai sniffs a shirt, nothing crazy here tbh
Cole Brookstone was unnecessarily strong.
Actually, even before he started using his enhanced strength from his elemental powers, he was already unusually strong. The first time Kai had met him, he’d been shocked by the raw strength he demonstrated… and the body that came with it.
That demonstration had involved him being launched through a roof and into the courtyard, but as he recovered from the bruising he’d considered several times over just what kind of a figure he’d have to have to do it so effortlessly.
The first time he’d seen Cole train without a shirt, he’d had to take an emergency water break to recover. His body was just… fucking perfect! Every dip and curve, every flex… even when Cole was relaxed and his abs weren’t immediately visible, he still looked perfect! Infuriatingly perfect!
That didn’t mean he was gay, though. Not necessarily. At first, Kai was just appreciating him. A man like that HAD to be appreciated… ignoring him would have practically been a crime. So he’d watched Cole use his powers, learn more about himself, and become an impressive specimen over the years…
And then, one day, like a switch was flipped, he’d realized what the heck he’d been missing out on. And once he realized, he knew he had to have him.
Unfortunately, around the time that Kai realized what he wanted, Cole became some kind of social butterfly. His serious aura softened, and he started turning heads everywhere they went. Even Kai was surprised by how many people he managed to forge connections with. If he wanted to bag him, he’d have to act quickly.
Very quickly.
So, he resolved to just… tell him. Direct action was the best way to woo people, after all. Just get up and go for it. Tell them how it was gonna be. He’d given Jay this advice a dozen times, all he had to do now was take it himself.
“Hey, Cole.” Kai leaned against a couple of stacked crates, his arms crossed over his chest (a perfect and very chill cool guy pose). With his hands tucked under his armpits, he could feel every heartbeat bouncing through his torso, and the heat building up with his nerves.
Why the heck was he nervous?? He’d talked to Cole like ten thousand million times!
“Hey, what’s up?” Cole’s voice was airy and mildly strained, as he was in the middle of a training exercise when Kai went to find him. He was standing in front of a clay basin filled with some kind of mud. It looked nearly dry on the surface, but Cole was plunging his hands into it, parting the mud easily with every decisive strike.
The fact that he was not wearing a shirt (probably to avoid getting mud on it or something very rational like that) made the show even better for Kai.
Every time Cole extended his arm back, Kai could watch the muscles in his biceps and shoulders stretch, tighten, and launch his next strike into the mud. Left, right, left, right…
On top of all of that perfection, the sound his hands made as they carved through the wet earth were so totally satisfying. If Cole started some kind of Mud ASMR livestream thing like this, he’d really make a killing…
No, focus! He was here for a reason. And that reason was NOT to gush over cole’s bare back OR suggest incredible ideas for online video channels.
“Kai?” Cole had paused his exercise, and was wiping the extra mud off his hands.
“Hah?” Kai shook his head, readjusting his leaning position on the boxes and clearing his throat. “What’s up?”
“Did you need something?”
“Uuuh, yeah! Right yeah.” He reached up, absentmindedly checking his hair. “Soooo… hooow are you?”
Ah, great. A strong start.
“I’m… fine?” Cole stepped away from the basin now, and Kai got a better view of the sweat dripping down his perfect and unnaturally magnetic chest as he came closer. “Pass me that towel?”
“What towel?” Kai’s eyes were locked onto Cole’s abs, his mouth going a little dry. Was it hot in here? It felt hot. Kai never got hot…
“Kai.”
“Mhm.”
Cole approached him quickly, rounding the basin and nearly running to his side. Kai sucked in a breath. Was this it? Oh, first master, Cole felt the same as he did! He felt the burn, the passion, the potential, and he was running into his arms, running to-
Cole reached over Kai, grabbing his towel off the top of the boxes and slapping it down onto the top of his head. He spread it out, covering his face completely and patting aggressively at the top of it. “Ah- shit, hold on.”
After a minute of struggling, patting, and dragging, Cole finally pulled the towel off of Kai’s now quashed updo. He put his singed towel over his shoulder, then put his hands on his hips and shot him a thumbs up. “Hair was on fire. I got it.”
Kai stood there, stiff and disoriented. The fire that had raged to life in his chest was now properly extinguished.
“You should probably put a little less gel in it.” Cole suggested, reaching out to touch the singed mess. He reached out to touch it, but Kai stopped him.
“… thanks, man.”
“No problem.” Cole smiled, slapping him on the shoulder as he walked by. “I gotta shower. Are you coming up for lunch?”
“Uh… yknow what, you go ahead. I gotta make sure my hair is out.”
Cole shot him an encouraging thumbs up, which only doused water on Kai’s already dead fire. He watched him walk away, reaching up to pat his ruined hair as he watched him go.
“… what the hell just happened…?”
The next time Kai tried to talk to Cole, he was much more careful. He had to make sure he wouldn’t be distracted, and that Cole wouldnt be distracting.
He tried cornering him after dinner, but Cole just took his dishes and offered to do his chores. He tried during sparring, but Cole assumed he was just messing around when he made jokes and innuendos.
Hed gotten so frustrated at one point that he stormed into the relaxation room while everyone was having breakfast and said “I like you” right to his face. Cole had returned the confession with an “I like you too! I like all of you!” Which had derived into a game where everyone exchanged teasing I like you or I don’t like yous over their cereal.
Clearly, drastic measures were required. He’d just have to ask him on a date.
He did some research, planned out an activity, then cornered Cole when he was playing games with Jay. Before he went in, he double checked that Cole was clothed. Fully dressed was ideal. There was no chance for distractions if he was clothed.
Kai stood outside in the hallway, hyping himself up for a minute before he went inside. “You got this. Just… tell him how you feel. Tell him something.” He took a breath, nodded, and fixed his posture before sauntering around the door and into the room.
He approached the couch confidently, leaning against the side of it with his hip. “Hey.”
“Hey Kai.” Jay waved, not taking his eyes off the screen.
“Hey.” Cole didn’t look up from the game either. He was sitting with his ankles crossed and propped up on the table, tapping away on the controller. “Missed you this morning.”
“This morning?” Kai’s world went sideways. Cole missed him? When did he mean?? At breakfast? Did he miss the way their hands brushed when they reached for the butter at the same time? Was it possible that Cole liked seeing Kai fixing himself up in the mirror when they were taking turns on their morning showers? Or maybe even better… that he’d wished he’d woken up next to Kai…?
“Yeah at training?” Cole tore his eyes away from the game to give Kai a scrap of connection, then turned back to the game. “You’re a good sparring partner.”
Kai nearly set his hair on fire again. He suppressed the urge to grin and giggle, brushing his hair back for the second time in five minutes. “Yeah well… you’re pretty good too.”
Jay snorted, shaking some hair out of his eyes. “You’re pretty good too~” he mocked, giggling to himself.
Kai shot Jay a look, which shut Jay up immediately.
“Aw, thanks. I like to think I’m a pretty alright sparring partner.” The screen flashed with a level completion card, and Cole finally set the controller down to look at him properly. “So what’s up? You need something?”
“N-not.. really.” He shrugged, clearing his throat. He crossed his ankles, leaning on the couch in what he hoped was a very cool and interesting posture. Then he uncrossed them, putting his hand to his mouth and clearing his throat again.
“You need some water…?” It might have been Kai’s imagination, but it almost seemed like Cole was laughing at him. Jay, on the other hand, was definitely laughing at him, stifling his snorts and giggles into one of the couch pillows he was now hugging.
Oh no. Lock in, damnit! You’re starting to look stupid, Kai!  Now that he’d started he just had to go for the whole thing!
“No.” He wiped his face, putting on his best confident smirk. He crossed his arms, noticing that the space under them was a little too hot again.  Was he sweating? Nervous sweating?? “Listen, I’ve been thinking-“
“Dangerous.” Cole accused. He leaned back, stretching out over the cushions and putting his arms behind his head.
Damnit. Like this, the arch of his body was so perfect! Kai could see every inch of the perfection he’d spent the last few years admiring all on display. His eyes got caught on the curve of something in his great sweatpants. Now he was definitely nervous sweating down the back of his neck.
Reign it in, Kai! Focus!
Kai scoffed like his mind wasn’t crumbling to pieces, like his head wasn’t humming with a low burning fire. “Funny. You’re hilarious.” He put one hand behind his back, rubbing the arch of his hips to disrupt some of his nervous energy. “Anyways, there’s this place downtown. It’s all you can eat, and I wanted to try it, so… I got us a reservation.”
“What?” Coles expression changed a little when he realized they weren’t joking around anymore. “Really? No way. That’s awesome!” He shot to his feet, already heading for the door. “I’ll get changed. How long do we have?”
“Uh… couple hours.” Kai’s head was thrumming with the sound of his own heartbeat. That was it? Had he done it?! Had he actually gotten Cole to agree to go on a date?!
“Cool. I’ll shower and be back in fifteen minutes. Sounds good?” Cole didn’t wait for an answer, waving at him as he headed for his room.
“Can I come?” Now that they were alone, Jay didn’t seem to be stifling his laughter as much.
Kai shot him another glare, reaching for his head with clawed hands and stopping short. “No, Jay.” He gritted out through his teeth. “And stop laughing! I’m doing my best!”
Jay laughed, clamping a hand over his mouth. “Damn! I really wanted to see the train wreck live…”
“Shut it, Jay!”
Unfortunately, while the date WAS nice, it didn’t go according to plan… it turned out that Cole didn’t even think it was a date, and Kai had been fantasizing the whole time until halfway through when Cole started making small talk about skylor, and suggesting that Kai should ask her out to try the place too.
A total dud. Kai was losing hope.
He spent a few days afterwords just… thinking. Why was it so easy to tell Jay how to ask out Nya, but dealing with his own feelings was so much more complicated? He knew what to do, had a plan, and yet somehow he kept slipping up.
He thought it over as he shoved his dirty clothes into the washer, so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t notice Cole come in with his own basket. He jumped a little when he noticed him. “Geez- so quiet.”
“It’s the ninja training.” Cole teased, setting his basket down on the floor. “Looked like you were thinking pretty hard. I didn’t want to bug you.”
“Yeah just… thinking.” Kai echoed, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.
“Wanna share?” Cole mirrored him, listening to the thrumming of the dryer as he looked Kai over. Kai felt that usual little twisting feeling in his chest that he always felt when Cole was nearby… stupid Cole.
“Do you know anything about… relationships?”
Cole looked up at the ceiling, furrowing his brows and pursing his lips. “Mmm… no.”
He sighed, his shoulders slumping. “Yeah. Neither do I.”
“Aaaaaah girl trouble.” Cole nodded, running a hand through his hair and looking away from him. “Yeah, I don’t know anything about girls either.”
Kai considered his options for a minute or two, tapping his arm nervously as he stood there. He should have just told him, but every time he tried to do it, the ball in his throat got bigger and bigger, blocking him up.
“I’ve been trying to… confess my feelings to someone. But they’re not getting it.”
“Oh yeah?” Cole perked up, obviously excited by the news. “Who’s the lucky girl? It’s skylor isn’t it? I knew it, after that time you two-“
“It’s not uh… not skylor.” Kai’s cheeks started heating up again. His tone was short and sharp, his eyebrows raising. He rubbed his neck, leaning his head back against the wall. “Someone else.”
“Oh.” Cole rubbed at the stubble on his chin, tilting his head to the side. “I didn’t know you knew any other girls… or you know… girls you liked.” He shrugged, patting him encouragingly on the shoulder. “You know, some people are kind of dense. You should just tell her! Be really clear about it.”
Kai turned his head to look at him slowly, his lips pulled into a tight smile. “… yeah. Good idea.”
Cole gave him a thumbs up, nudging his laundry further into the room. “I’m gonna go back to jay. We’re still playing games until training tonight. I’ll be back in an hour when your load is done.” He waved as he stepped backwards through the door, pointing at him. “You should join us! I’ll go easy on you, swear.”
“Aaaah… I’ll think about it.” Kai smiled halfheartedly, waiting for him to disappear down the hallway.
He stood in the laundry room, arms still crossed and body stiff. His eyes drifted slowly down to the basket of clothes a few feet away from him.
…. He really shouldn’t.
Really, he should not. Cole was kind of minimalistic. He’d notice if any of his clothes went missing.
But… maybe if he didn’t take anything…
Kai’s knees hit the floor, and he glanced out into the hallway as he started digging through the basket. He pulled out a black Monster World t-shirt he’d seen Cole wear to bed, immediately raising it to his face. He took in a deep breath, eyes fluttering closed.
Cole smelled like an unusual combination of things. Like the earth he always trained with, a little bit like petrichor from spending so much time outside on the mountain, and like his own natural musk… something purely and entirely him that Kai always tried to get a whiff of when he walked by.
He breathed it in, then out, rubbing the shirt against his face and covering his whole head with it. Cole was so much wider than him… would the shirt be baggy if he put it on? Would wearing it to bed make the smell linger on him longer?
“Uuh… Kai?”
Kai went stiff, the shirt still covering his face. He slowly pulled the cloth down, looking up at Cole standing in the laundry room doorway. The earth master looked like he’d just come to some kind of realization, but Kai wasn’t emotionally prepared to try and interpret wether he looked happy or weirded out.
“Haha… heeey… Cole…”

Based on this post right here
This is called the Ninjago Shuffle AU.
Basically I took every Ninjago Season including DR into a Spin the Wheel and shuffled the Seasons.
Order of the Shuffle
Legacy of the Green Ninja
Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitsu
DR Season 2
Master of the Mountain
Possession
Rebooted
Rise of the Snakes
Seabound
Skybound
DR Season 1
Hands of Time
Crystallized
Island of the Keepers
Tournament of Elements
March of the Oni
Sons of Garmadon
Hunted
(This is an interesting order of Seasons)
[THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR NINJAGO DR PART 2 SO LEAVE IF YOU MUST!]
Before I actually end up Rewriting all of the Seasons to fit into a coherent story, I first needed to rewrite the pilot era.
I do not consider the Pilot Era or the Specials a Season, so for the purposes of Story Telling, Pilot Era goes first before all the Seasons and Day of the Departed will always come after Skybound. (Which has a very interesting story of being turned into a SeaWalker Timeline somehow-)
So for the Pilot Era, here we go. In my notes I wrote everything down so here is the order of events.
Battle Between Spinjitsu Brothers
Battle Between Spinjitsu Brothers happens first, Garmadon tries to steal the Golden Weapons, Wu stops him, Garmadon gets banished into The Underworld. In this version of the story, Misako left Garmadon before he got banished so Wu is left alone with baby Lloyd.
Rather than send him to Darkleys, Wu tries to free his brother from The Underworld out of guilt and shame. And also because he knows he literally is too dependent on him at times (Based off of Krux’s line stating Garmadon usually had Wu’s back so basically Wu is just the dependent younger brother in this AU)
This spiral ultimately causes
The Merge
Yeah Wu done fricked up this time. Instead of causing the Merge years later he causes WAY TOO EARLY. The Merge happens and Wu is split into pieces, this alerts Garmadon who still remains in The Underworld after Wu causes the Merge, causing him to immediately deploy his army once the Merge is complete to scan the area and make a map of the new world.
Kai remains in Ninjago without Nya, Jay ends up in The Administration, Zane ends up in Imperium and Cole ends up in the Land of Lost Things. Lloyd remains in the Monastery, but after a while of people not tending to it, he ends up leaving to go search for food and stumbles upon Arin and Sora.
The Pilots
The Pilots start off with Kai as always, however due to his short temper and his weapons not selling well. (The Yo-Yo thing didn’t work out unfortunately) He leaves the Blacksmith shop to go find his sister (Since none of the residents sell Arin’s house/apartment it’s safe to assume no one will sell Kai and Nya’s home)
Kai becomes a street criminal, getting by through stealing food and money in order to survive and traveling the realms to get more information. Ultimately his actions get him into a bit of trouble and he ends up bumping into Cole, who helps him out and takes him back to the Monastery.
Cole introduces himself as the in-training Earth Ninja, being guided by ‘Guiding Light’ (Master Wu) and explains that Guiding Light told him to get Kai. Kai refuses, but thanks him for helping him survive another day, that’s when the Skulkin ambush the Monastery and reveal that Kai’s sister is in The Underworld.
After a few fights back from Cole and Guiding Light…somehow? Kai and Cole make it a mission to get the Four Golden Weapons. Kai does his training montage and boom they go to the Caves of Despair…which is kinda not in the same place it used to be. (But whatever lets just say the Skulkin dropped the damn map)
They go into the Caves of Despair, learn Spinjitsu (In this universe Cole learns it first because Kai’s a slow learner) Kai uses the Scythe of Quakes etc they celebrate.
Guiding Light scolds them of course but they barely take him seriously at times. (Mostly because I made it so that Wu now speaks Tinkerbell) But ultimately they are caught by the Administration for ‘unauthorized use of an unidentified weapon’
So yeah they get interrogated in The Administration, then they escape through elaborate means and high-chase breakout, also Jay reveal
They escape and head for the Shurikens of Ice. However, someone catches up to them first, and we get our Zane reveal, Zane as the leader of the Claws of Imperium. (YAH I DID THIS YOUR WELCOME) needs the Shurikens of Ice under the assumption that it has Dragon Power. (Technically it does)
Kai and Cole manage to get it anyway and speedrun the Nunchucks of Lightning. Most of what happens here is the same as the original pilot, except we don’t get any dialogue from Wu (Which means ‘There’s something I haven’t told you’ is quite literal here cause he can’t fricken speak) we don’t get Jay nor Zane and Garmadon gets Two of the Four Weapons. (All Four would kill him, so after he opens the portal he grabs the two that don’t have owners yet.)
Nya trains to be a Ninja instead of Samurai X because both her and Kai agree she needs really really good protection.
They discover the Green Ninja prophecy early but rather than worry about who was the Green Ninja, they’re more concerned when they realized there is one member not added yet. They decide to train some more so that they can be ready to map out the new world.
Significant changes (To storylines beyond the Pilots)
-Nya is now considered an official Ninja and Wu has no way of correcting them, so to them Nya is the 3rd Ninja, possibly even the Blue one since that’s her favorite color.
-Why is Zane evil? Zane actually showed up INSIDE Imperium surprisingly, and it was discovered by Dr LaRow that he was a robot and she opted to rewrite his programming and systems. So now he replaces Rapton as the Leader of the Claws of Imperium.
-Lloyd is officially Younger than Sora and Arin, for the sake of Story-telling purposes and continuity, but they are Younger than Kai and Cole. On that note:
-Kai, Cole and Nya are all adults at the start, as well as Zane and Jay.
-Ninja won’t get their Elemental Powers until Rebooted, which is gonna make DR Season 2 Interesting.
-Possibly SeaWalker instead of Jaya (Honestly Skybound is gonna be VERY interesting with Seabound Nya)
-Jay isn’t into Nya right away, since he’s now a very mature and very very tired man.
-We mostly don’t get the main four until maybe after DR Season 2.

Once again rambling about Jay and his awesome power. One thing I've noticed about him, especially with his power, is that it seems to tax him a lot more than the others' does. Probably because of the power and intensity of lightning. I've seen so many posts about how Jay uses a very small voltage when he fights because he doesn't want to hurt people, but what seems to be supported by the canon is that it also hurts him. Every time he deals with pure lightning bolts (rather than just shocks), he seems to hurt himself in the process. This is proven in season 14 when he is literally sparking after recharging the ship.
Tumblr media
And judging by his expressions, it's affecting him. It hurts and exhausts him.
And in season 6 and season 8 we see how dealing with direct bolts of lightning affects him. In season 6, he screams when it hits him.
Tumblr media
And in season 8, he gets physically exhausted for a moment after redirecting.
Tumblr media
At least from what I have seen, this is very different from the other ninja, who seem to be able to control their elements-for the most part-at different intensities without it affecting them. (Aside from Lloyd.)
Which just brings me to the point that I personally believe that Jay's power is the most powerful of the creation elements. He doesn't use it to its full potential (and KO enemies, like he could) because, while he can handle like 900 million volts (in season 6 he's struck by like 3 direct bolts of lightning, and survives), that doesn't mean he will be combat ready after that.
This might also be why Wu brought him into the team early (with Cole). He probably needed a lot more training on pain tolerance, keeping the mind and body calm, and probably lots of other endurance training. (Which is indirectly canon with how well he was able to handle Nadakhan's mental and physical torture vs the other ninja.) His power is so unpredictable, and so his training must have been very rough when he first got his powers, which is once again supported by the canon as both Nya and Lloyd talk about how he destroyed the South(?) Wing of the Monastery with an electrical fire while practicing his powers. Wu probably had to focus on his control a lot more than with the other ninja (probably like how he had to with Nya, if you think about it. Lightning and Water are both hard to control, so concentration would be key to learn for both of them, which is ironic with Jay's fanon ADHD).
Point is, Jay is super cool and so underrated sometimes. I really think it'd be cool if the show went more into how their powers affected them! Though speculation is also fun.
Tumblr media
Anyways. Jay with the lightning chicken because they would be (are) besties.

Ninjago ethnicity HCS WOOO
(I precise : those are only based on vibes I have and maybe some posts I read but I can't remember in detail, so mostly vibe. Please don't harass me if it doesn't fit with your hcs or the most plausible possibilities)
(Plus I use a traductor for the specific words bc I don't know them in English, so I apologize in advance if it's an abomination)
Kai and Nya Jiang-Smith :
Yes we stay with Jiang-Smith
Half-maori (Smith) half-chinese (Jiang)
The Smith side comes from Maya. She gives me too much the Maori vibe and I cannot draw her without tatoos, especially face tatoos anymore
Ray brings the Jiang side
Again, Kai is a carbon copy of his mother and Nya looks a lot like her
Ray only brought the family name
Jay Walker :
Biologically Americano-Korean, but raised by Scottish parents so Scottish
Ed and Edna are Scottish
So Jay has the accent, especially when he gets emotional (not only angry, but sad or very happy, for example
Which the others ofc make fun of
The American side is from Cliff Gordon
And Libber was Korean (South Korea)
He doesn't take his biological parents' family name (Gordon) for the simple reason they didn't raise him and he's quite mad about it
Edit : since the Merge, his loss of memories and the Administration, he lost his accent, mainly bc he tries to erase it to seem more "normal", but in intense moments, it always comes back
Zane Julien :
At first I wanted to say French (especially given the name and maybe bc I'm projecting a little) but the more I think about it the more I considered Mongolian
So I decided : Dr Julien comes from France but Zane was "born" and raised in Mongolia
So we can say French-Mongolian
I just think it fits
Don't ask why
Cole Brookstone :
25% Nepali 25% Sinhalese (is it how it's written in English ?) 50% Ethiopian
Lilly was half Nepali half Singhalese (again the vibe)
Lou is Ethiopian
Lilly used to speak to him in a mix of sinhala and nepali and when she died, Cole tried to use them as possible to not forget them
Lou taught him Oromo and when they're together they mainly use it
So sometimes (very often) Cole struggles to speak because he has at least 3 languages in his head and it's hell
Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon :
Half-Cambodian from his father's side
Yes in my head Wu and Garmadon are Cambodian (based on nothing, again)
From Misako's side, Japanese with British ancestors, but Misako leans more in her Japanese side
But Lloyd is predominantly showing his Cambodian inheritance (bc Misako didn't really raised him)
But he makes efforts to try to connect with her on this side, which makes her really happy
In term of Oni/Dragon, I like to think Lloyd had physically almost nothing of the Dragon
He had pointy ears, but Oni horns and tail, the rest is normal
Pixal Borg :
She gives me the South-African vibe
So she and Cyrus are South-African
This is 100% based on vibes
So I have nothing else to say
Except I love her
A lot
That's all for now ! Next time I will do secondary-yet-important characters characters.

Favorite plasma headcanons?
oh anon . you’re gonna regret this
- they have aaaaall of each other’s food n drink preferences memorized . kai puts a kettle on for jay’s tea in the morning before he even starts brewing his own coffee bc jay dislikes how jittery coffee makes him .
- jay has unfortunate music taste and kai is the victim who has to share a pair of earbuds with him . he complains but listens because it makes jay happy
- kai posts stupid cheesy things on chirp about jay and jay responds to them with “who r u” every time without fail
- kai most likes to kiss jay on the jaw and forehead and jay most likes to kiss kai on the cheek and the corner of his mouth : )
- jay tries to pet stray cats despite being allergic and kai drags him away before he can get scratched and sent to urgent care
- jay is so adjusted to kai’s weight that he is the only ninja (aside from cole) who can pick him up without even remotely struggling . he just throws him over his shoulder n carries on
- big spoon jay but not because kai prefers to be the little spoon , jay just neeeeeds to be holding onto something in order to sleep and kai is willing to accommodate. usually he ends up twisting around so they’re facing each other and kisses jay’s forehead because he doesn’t like jay breathing on his neck
- kai has reaaaally but warm dry hands and jay in contrast has super cold clammy hands . kai complains about his hands being sweaty and then starts whining when jay tells him “okay, so let go?” and holds his hand tighter
- kai fell first . i think . simply because of how oblivious and dumb jay is . but i do think that when jay realized, it hit him like a truck
- jay dresses in baggy layers and kai keeps his style tight and minimal , so they’re a funny contrast to see walking side by side
- i like to think kai is a morning person idk if this combats canon… but i think rising with the sun makes him happy . jay in contrast hates waking up in the morning but still does it so that he can stare at kai’s pretty face for a minute or so before he also wakes up
+ finally, my new dumb hc that jay is really embarrassingly ticklish and kai uses it to his advantage whenever he wants something, because of a dumb tag I put in a reblog the other day LMAOOO

sat down and rewatched Hands of Time a few days ago, and I know I say that season five is the team season. I was wrong this is the team season.
like it actually has a subplot for everyone,
Zane lost Pixal and is kinda a mess without her, like in that swamp was when he realised how much he relied on her.
Pixal is doing the Sam X thing cause she popped out of Zane's head and basicially just said "If you aren't waking up I'll do it myself."
Nya is busy reconciling with her past and finally letting go of samurai X, completely knowing her legacy is in good hands despite not really knowing who it is.
Kai is figuring out what happened to his parents and their relationship to Crux and Acronix, specifically his Dad who was teh main black smith, also it gives it more reason for him to compare it with Skylor's situation and come to her later. Last bit isn't that important I just take my crumbs of her where I can.
Lloyd has his leader/master arc, which follows up his "I'm only a master in training." line from skybound, and that helps set up why for why he does actully act as a leader the next season.
Cole is figuring out post-ghost powers. That's it really, he's much more comedic relief this season probably because of day of the departed.
and Jay clearly has a confidience booster since skybound making him go rogue a little more, like fighting Acronix or going to the junkyard alone. But he also has a tendancy to quit as he flip flops between that and really helping when he thinks it's necissary, like rather going home than figuring out the temporal event, or following the workers after retreating (However he was also the one to help Zane first when Borg is still at the camp cause no man left behind, which relaates back to skybound cuz-). His entire arch seems to be about quitting les, like the whole junkyard bit basically has a redo of that scene in Skybound after Nya gets kidnapped and he's sent home. however it is less "get off your butt the worlds falling apart and you can do this cause you make friends anywhere, and you should never give up." And more, "You can do this because you were raised to never give up." okay... well the vibes are there. Except last season his entire thing was that he never gave up and it was one of his most frustrating qualities- but I digress.
Anyway I don't give this season enough credit for what it is, the main plot isn't really the best but all the subplots actually do their job to flesh out the characters.

Hmmm for the bad things happen bingo, how about:
Post S5 recovery for Lloyd, for the "Struggling against the caretaker" trope?
Sorry this took so long, but I hope you enjoy! Prompt fill: Struggling Against The Caretaker @badthingshappenbingo
Tumblr media
Because Lloyd was still out, and despite the dark circles still lingering under his eyes, he looked peaceful for the first time in…well, the first time in a long time.
Kai couldn't sleep.
No matter how much he tried to even out his breathing, to let his eyes flutter shut, to sing soft songs in his head or count sheep or think about anything except everything that had gone down in the last few weeks, he found himself opening his eyes, shifting his position in the bed only to fail yet again.
Just a couple of years prior, their shared room was filled with various sounds of sleep; Zane's snoring, Cole's occasional shift, Jay's muffled laughter from a video on his phone and Lloyd's soft mumbling had all been a reassurance that he didn't even know he had until it was taken from him.
First with Zane, losing him and then him no longer needing to power himself off at night due to a longer lasting power source.
Now Cole, not feeling the need to sleep, or for any human function now that he practically floated across The Bounty rather than walking.
Not to mention Lloyd, who had just been rescued but was still confined to the ship's medical bay on the air of caution; Kai knew it was for the best, he had been the one to convince Lloyd to stay another night even.
But laying awake in his bed, Jay already asleep without even turning his phone on, he couldn't stop himself from regretting it even if it was only due to his selfish reasoning.
All he knew was that staying here, waiting for sleep to wrap him up like a blanket after weeks of being consistently on edge, was accomplishing nothing.
Despite that, a part of him considered just staying there, keeping his eyes shut till morning and getting up when the small alarm clock in the wall finally started beeping.
But the rest of him knew that laying like this would only just make him stir crazy, his mind spiraling with thoughts of vengeful spirits and large tentacled realms and almost losing Lloyd-
Kai got up, keeping his feet light as he moved toward the door, doing everything in his power to keep Jay asleep before slowly opening the door and stepping into the dimly lit hallway.
The Bounty, despite having two occupants who no longer slept, was silent except for the occasional creak from adjusting slightly in the wind, only adding to the fact that Kai should be feeling safe and secure and able to fall asleep.
And in a way, it did; after all, he wasn't in any danger, nothing was giving him the inclination that The Bounty was under attack, and they had stopped the world from collapsing into itself.
But having grown up the way he did, in the back room of a blacksmith's shop and doing everything possible that a child could do to protect his younger sister, it wasn't himself that he was worried about.
He didn't have the luxury to worry about himself, not when Nya had needed him back then and not when there was the possibility that Lloyd needed him now.
Kai quietly pushed open the door open to the small medical bay, practically a closet stuffed full of their limited medical supplies, letting a little bit of the anxious energy that had been building inside him since they defeated The Preeminent a few days prior ebb away from his body.
Because Lloyd was still out, and despite the dark circles still lingering under his eyes, he looked peaceful for the first time in…well, the first time in a long time.
Kai pulled the metal folding chair off of it's hook on the wall, opened it slowly to minimize its creaking, and slowly lowered himself into it so his head was resting against the wall where he could still see Lloyd.
The steady rise and fall of his chest, his right hand grasped loosely around the green throw blanket that usually sat on the end of his bed, and the soft sound of his breathing filling the small room.
It proved to Kai the two things he couldn't be sure of on the other side of The Bounty; that Lloyd was alive, and that Lloyd was going to be okay even if it took a while for him to get to that point.
He was already better than the week prior, when the two of them sat at the table, wrapped in towels as their hair dripped cold droplets onto their skin; he was even doing better than he had been just a few days ago, when he had gone with them to try and destroy the realm crystal despite the fact his clothes had gone baggy against his skin and his cheeks looks way too hollow.
And that progress was enough for Kai to finally let his guard down for a brief moment, and let his head lean back against the wall so his eyes could flutter shut with the same thought echoing in his head.
'Lloyd's going to be okay.'
When Kai first heard the noise, a squeaking, pitiful whimper intermingling within the stillness of The Bounty, he thought he was still dreaming.
After all, his dreams were still a jumbled mess of Stiix and the Endless Sea and the descent down from Cloud Kingdom, full of screams and cries of terror from various parties so it would make sense to hear a whimper interspersed with the rest of the violence.
At least, that was until his eyes adjusted to the dark and it happened again that Kai realized that it was a very real noise, and that it was coming from a still sleeping Lloyd.
He jumped into action before the last of the sleep was out of his eyes, but he knew this feeling, the feeling of having to wake someone up due to their own mind fighting against them, and he knew what was necessary.
"Lloyd," he called out with a whisper, laying a hand on his shoulder before gently shaking him while continuing to speak, "Lloyd, you're okay, you're safe. You need to wake up, Lloyd."
However, the last thing he expected was tight fists with green fingertips to suddenly grip his wrists tightly and painfully, forcing a yelp from his chest as he found himself quickly shifting his feet and trying to pull away.
"Lloyd, it's me! It's Kai!"
But Lloyd was strong even in his sleep, Lloyd had been training with Cole since he was 10 years old, Lloyd was dreaming about something and it was hurting the both of them.
"Lloyd! Wake up!"
To go from harsh grips on your wrists and green sparks dancing in your face to the room suddenly going silent as eyes the same shade of green flicked around the room, the only sound filling it being rapid breathing, that was a shock to say the least.
But Kai pushed away his own feelings, like he always did, he would decompress later; he chose to focus on Lloyd, who had the realization of what had happened while he was asleep filtering in and was curling into himself like he was trying to vanish.
"Lloyd, I'm okay," Kai assured him, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt so he could see that his wrists were bruise-free, "okay? You didn't hurt me, promise."
Lloyd just nodded, still looking down at his knees.
"Are you okay?" He prodded gently, sitting down on the side of the bed, letting Lloyd bury his face against his shoulder only for the realization to hit him hard in the chest.
That realization being that "are you okay?" was the worst question he could ask Lloyd after everything that had happened since they had left Chen's island.
"I'm sorry, Lloyd," he apologized, the laundry list of everything he hadn't handled in the wake of losing Garmadon, of nearly losing Lloyd, cycling through his head while he pulled the teenager in tighter like the force would pull the hurt away, "I'm so sorry."
And Lloyd, well, he didn't say anything; he leaned closer into Kai, letting his head stay firmly planted against him but didn't make a noise except the occasional deep inhale necessary for the silent crying coming from him.
In that moment, Kai found himself looking up at the ceiling of The Bounty, found himself wishing that he could take on the hurt and sorrow cycling through Lloyd with every second he was awake.
For the first time in a long time, the thought of "I wish I was the Green Ninja" cycled through his head, but it was no longer filled with a selfish intent to be the best and needed revenge against the man who took his sister.
Now, it was a desperate hope to take the pain away from Lloyd's shoulder and place them on his own, the shoulders that had carried his own and Nya's pain for years.
But that…Kai knew all too well that wasn't how destiny worked.

Perhaps a kai fluff? Im thinking specifically when hes first meeting all the ninja, and he clearly isnt the biggest fan of them. Reader can be like.. love at first sight or smth. Idk, i just really love fics that include the introduction 😔
Hehe, nice to hear! So, a Kai fluff? Hmm, yep, definitely doable, and not gonna lie, I liked writing this a bit too much. So I hope I didn't get carried away and just did good!
Kai x male reader oneshot!
Takes place sometime before season 1.
Too Hot to Handle
(y/n) didn't know exactly what he was expecting from the so called 'courageous' ninja team, but this... was not it.
(y/n) was no fighter, but he knew his stuff, and compared to the things Sensei Wu had told him, the reality was much more disappointing
When Wu, an acquaintance of an acquaintance of a friend of (y/n)'s, had come asking (y/n) to take the place of the ninjas' mentor he really thought he'd be in for an exciting first day.
Nope, this really wasn't it. Rather than exciting, it made (y/n) want to run home right now. He was promised a month with a mentally mature group of heroes, this was like kindergarten for ninjas. Well, maybe (y/n) was a bit harsh, but he'd never admit it.
"Everyone, please give me your attention, we have an important guest here today." Wu announced as the ninja, who were concentrated having an arm wrestling contest (Cole had been kicked out for 'cheating') quickly stopped and ran over curiously.
"I'm sure you remember that I have urgent business to go on, right?" The ninja nodded in unison. "Well, this is (y/n), he'll be taking my role for the next thirty days.
The ninja looked fine with the idea, and kept listening as Wu explained the rest of the situation. Right after the explanation, Wu exclaimed "But I'm in hurry, so I'll be heading out. Make sure to listen to (y/n)!"
"Bye Sensei!" The ninja waved and even bowed, facing the gates until a fair ten seconds had passed. Then the team finally relaxed.
(y/n) barely had time to process Wu's swift departure before the ninja’s attention snapped to him. Five pairs of expectant eyes locked onto him. He had been so busy smiling politely and nodding along with Wu's words that he was just now getting to inspect the ninjas.
"So," Jay was the first to speak, clapping his hands together. "What's the plan, Boss?" He wiggled his eyebrows. "You gonna whip us into shape? Make us do, like, a hundred push-ups and call it a day?"
"Yeah, good luck with that," Kai scoffed, crossing his arms. He leaned against the wall, looking (y/n) up and down, his expression unreadable. "I don't know what Sensei was thinking, bringing in some random guy to boss us around for a month."
(y/n) raised a brow at that, locking eyes with the red ninja. (y/n) hated how handsome the red ninja was, even while mocking him right in front of his face.
"Some random guy?" (y/n) echoed, folding his arms in return. "Well, it's nice to meet you too, fire boy."
(y/n) whipped his head away from Kai with a huff just as Cole spoke up.
"Alright, alright," Cole interrupted, stepping between them with a grin. "Let’s not scare off our new babysitter in the first five minutes."
"Ha, as if!" (y/n) let out, stepping away before before pointing at the obstacle course in the middle of the temple yard.
"Come on, no wasting time, do the obstacle course and show me what you can do." (y/n) commanded, leaving no room for argument.
He watched as the four ninja completed the course one by one, then he called them back to him.
"Thank you. Now, let's go over your performance," (y/n) said, stepping in front of Cole with a thoughtful expression.
"You're strong, but you rely on brute force too much. It slows you down and drains your energy faster than necessary. Try focusing on efficiency instead of just power."
Cole blinked at him, clearly not expecting such a direct critique. "Uh… thanks?"
(y/n) turned to Jay without saying anything. "You move fast, which is great, but you don’t think before you act. And, honestly… you talk a lot during the course. It's a distraction, for you and probably everyone around you."
Jay looked offended. "Talking helps me focus!"
"Does it, though?" (y/n) asked, raising a brow before shifting his attention to Zane.
"...Perfect," (y/n) finally said, and both Cole and Jay whipped their heads toward the nindroid in shock.
"Thank you," Zane responded, not showing emotion on his face.
"But I could tell you were moving from memory alone," (y/n) added. "You never looked back, never checked your surroundings. In a real fight, that won't work."
Zane nodded. "That is a fair point."
Finally, (y/n) stopped in front of Kai, but this time didn't look him in the eye. "You did well," he admitted, "But… you were reckless, hasty, arrogant and pompous. You took unnecessary risks and relied on luck more than skill. Your confidence is good, but it could get you in trouble if you don't balance it with caution."
Kai scoffed, crossing his arms. "So what, you want me to overthink everything like Zane?"
"Well, yeah." (y/n) held in a scoff.
"Well overthinking's overrated." Kai meanwhile smirked, clearly enjoying himself far too much. "I'd rather do what my heart tells me."
As he spoke he leaned forward, close to (y/n)'s face. (y/n) definitely burned up, he just hoped Kai didn't see it. Unfortunately it looked like Kai might just have.
"Well," (y/n) said, shoving Kai away by his face, "My heart is telling me you need a lot more training."
He ignored the way his pulse quickened as Kai laughed while grabbing onto his wrist and removing (y/n)'s hand from his face. And when Kai let go, (y/n) felt awfully cold.
"Everyone, freestyle training for the next hour!" (y/n) announced, clapping his hands together.
Jay groaned. "Aw, man, I was hoping for a break!"
"Would your Sensei have given you one?" (y/n) lifted and eyebrow doubtfully.
Jay lifted a finger, but lowered it as he spoke. "...Fair point."
(y/n)'s patience was running out. Kai had been testing him the entire day, clearly enjoying annoying him.
He was the worst kind of person out there. An annoying guy with a pretty face and a dang good body.
Zane was obediently training along to some tips (y/n) had given him, even Cole and Jay looked like they were trying, but Kai wouldn't take a single tip from (y/n).
Since (y/n) wasn't getting paid, so he thought about quitting. But on the other hand, if something happened to the ninja now, Wu wouldn't probably be very happy.
So he just bit back annoyance and kept helping the others instead. Of course he still kept stealing glances at Kai and his stupidly gorgeous face- nope, nope, nope.
But it seemed like the more (y/n) was avoiding giving Kai any attention, the more annoying the red ninja managed to become.
"(y/n)! I'm tired of all this punching, can I take a break?" Kai's voice called from the other side of the yard.
"If you're tired of punching stop using the punching bag! Haa..." (y/n) called back before letting out a sigh.
"Well I thought it was your job to boss us around!" Kai called again as (y/n) turned to face him.
Oh? Now he wants me to boss him around? So be it. (y/n) said, in his head of course.
He walked over to Kai, then pointed to Jay, who was currently doing his best by the weight lifting station.
"Switch with Jay, show me how much strength you have."
Kai laughed, but then his gaze flickered with something more mischievous. "Oh, you want me to practice strength?"
Before (y/n) could process what that meant, he felt strong arms wrap around his waist, and suddenly...
"Kai!!" (y/n) basically screeched as his feet left the ground. Kai had lifted him up like he weighed nothing, throwing him over his shoulder effortlessly.
Jay howled with laughter while Cole doubled over, hands on his knees.
"Oh my god- Kai, put him down!" Jay wheezed, barely able to breathe through his laughter. "He's gonna kill you!"
"Oh, I know," Kai said, absolutely unfazed as (y/n) struggled in his grasp. "But he told me to show my strength."
(y/n)'s heart definitely skipped a beat as he became unnecessarily aware of Kai's hands holding onto him. He smacked Kai back as hard as he could while gritting his teeth. "Kai, I swear-!"
"What? You don't like being carried? Thought you could use a new perspective," Kai teased.
"You are going to regret this," (y/n) threatened, but Kai wasn't very convinced.
"Maybe," Kai mused, clearly having way too much fun. Then, suddenly, his grip shifted, and before (y/n) could register what was happening, Kai flipped him effortlessly, catching him in a bridal carry instead.
Jay collapsed to the floor, wheezing, while Cole smacked the ground like an audience member at a comedy show. Even Zane had stopped training, but was only staring at his laughing friends with a worried (and confused) look.
(y/n) froze, breath catching as he found himself face to face with Kai, arms looped around his neck by reflex. Meanwhile Kai just grinned, eyes gleaming with amusement.
"You know," Kai mused, "I think I kinda like holding you like this."
(y/n) glared up at him, face burning. "Hmph!" He was afraid he'd embarrass himself if he tried to say anything.
Kai chuckled, shifting his grip slightly just to make a point. "Comfy?"
(y/n) almost growled. "Put. Me. Down."
Kai tilted his head, pretending to consider it. "Hmm… Nah."
"Kai- Ah!" Before (y/n) could say anything else, Kai dropped him, not really though, just enough to make him yelp before catching him again at the last second.
Jay completely lost it. "Oh, this is the best day ever! And we get to see stuff like this for a month?! Shut up!"
Cole wiped at his eyes as he called to Kai. "Please, never stop messing with him!"
(y/n) scoffed, hands grabbing tightly onto Kai's gi. "What is it that makes torturing me so fun?"
"It's fun because it's you." Kai grinned down at him. "Oh, I'm so going to have the best thirty days of my life, ever."

HEY GUYS I HAVE A THEORY ABOUT SEASON 3 OF DRAGON RISING AND I HAVE TO SHEARE IT OR I’LL EXPLODE IN EXCITEMENT!!! (Spoilers for dragons rising season 2)
I think Zane is going to get captured and destroyed or almost destroyed by the Administration Agents because in the 7th episode of the Administration Agency targets Zane because they claimed him as equipment that escaped from the administration, Cole, Bonzle and Gandalaria fend them off but during the fight scene when the Administration Agents are talking about decommissioning Zane Cole yells “but that will kill him” which is exactly what he says in Lloyd’s vision earlier in the episode. It could be possible that Lloyd had a vision about that fight scene because it holds more significance than we as an audience first watching see it. It could be possible that the vision was warning Lloyd and the audience that the Administration Agency has more to do with Zane in the next season. But also Jay lost his memory and is part of the Agency but the show can’t really go on without Jay coming back to the ninja team so they would use Zane as an excuse for Jay to hunt down the ninja and this would cause him to get his memory back somehow. But hey that’s just a theory a ninja theory thanks for reading my blog post.

Ok adding on more to my ideas for a Kai-centric live action Ninjago because I have more thoughts, so here's some things that I would like to see in relation to the base plot:
As mentioned in my last post, this would be early-Ninjago based, mostly just adapting season one and the pilots. However, we're thinking about this as a two-hour movie, so it isn't going to have the time that a full season would. I'm also thinking about this as part of a duology because there is no way that (provided the first movie doesn't COMPLETELY suck) Lego won't do a sequel to capitalize on the new medium and marketability
With that being said, I would ignore the serpentine for this first live action film. The villains would be Garmadon and the skeleton army, led by Samukai (underrated villain in my books). This could also save us from some terrible CGI snakes; I think the skeleton army would translate better to live action than the serpentine would
Like I mentioned in my last post, the baseline plot would be the ninja collecting the Golden Weapons. It's a very rushed plot line in the show since it happens in the pilots, which means there's a lot of room to explore and develop it without being too much of a direct comparison to how it's done in the show. In addition, it gives a great chance to give each of the ninja their own focus, unlike the Lego Ninjago Movie which really only gives character development to Lloyd.
I'm going back and forth with this, but as of now I'm thinking that Nya does get kidnapped by the skeleton army like she does in the original pilots. However, instead of her playing the damsel in distress role like she is in the pilots, she gets more of her season one characterization and gets to go on her own subplot of breaking out of imprisonment and she's the first one to meet Lloyd
So like halfway through the movie the ninja are on their way to one of the Golden Weapons that Garmadon is about to grab and they basically run right past Nya, who's running away from a skeleton hoard that she'd managed to singlehandedly escape with a new little brother in tow.
Throughout the movie the characters are told that they have elemental powers inside of them that can be channeled by their weapons, not controlled by them. As each ninja gets their weapon they unlock their powers, and all the ninja kind of use their powers through their weapons... until the climax scene, where Kai is the first one to use his element without having to touch the sword (kind of doing the "true potential" moment without calling it that)
It would actually be kind of cool if the weapons weren't named after their elements in this version and the ninja don't find out what their element is until they get to use it for the first time. Like they go after the Golden Scythe and none of them have any clue what it'll do until Cole grabs it and then can suddenly make earthquakes. Like, theoretically if Jay had been the one to grab the Scythe, then it would have channeled his lightning and been a Scythe of Lightning... could also lead to a lot of foreshadowing about other elemental masters existing, since I don't think they had initially planned that with the first two seasons and it always made it a little weird to me that the Special Golden Weapons Of All Creation TM were tied specifically to these four random dudes. The Golden Weapons channel any element, the ninja just all have their preference of which one they use lol
we should drop some foreshadowing about the Megaweapon too, I think that would be great material for a second movie if we make collecting the Golden Weapons a big part of the first one
Having the Golden Weapon Quest TM as the central plot for the movie is also great because it gives the villain a reason to be doing something too. I'm scared of the live action movie that gets released having a one-dimensional Garmadon who just... is evil... and does evil... No. Here, he actually had a reason to be doing his evil things; he wants to remake Ninjago in his own image, and he needs the Golden Weapons to do so. Thus, collection competition.
OH and speaking of motivation, that's why I think I'd like Nya to be kidnapped in this still. It gives Kai a good reason to look at the old guy who showed up on his doorstep and said "hey want to join my super special fight club?" and say "ABSOLUTELY YES". I would love for this movie to give us a good older brother Kai to both Nya and Lloyd, so this would be a great foundational motivation to get him going along with the Plot
