katniss: how do you think haymitch won the games?
peeta: he outsmarted the others
haymitch in his games: drinks poison water, falls asleep in a blueberry patch without attempting to cover his tracks, tries to pet a bunny during the countdown, makes an alarming number of bunny-related decisions in general

Understanding Korra – Chapter 1: The Tear of Korra
Tumblr media
Korra is one of the most criticized Avatars in the entire cycle.
Whatever she does becomes a problem: “She’s too impulsive,” “not patient enough,” “lacks spirituality,” “cut ties with past Avatars,” “left the spirit portals open…”
It’s like people are determined to find something wrong.
But why?
This post isn’t a defense.
It’s an invitation to empathize.
Every Avatar should be understood in the context of their own time.
That’s why comparing Korra to Aang or any other Avatar is the first mistake.
I used to do it too — “Aang wouldn’t have done that.”
But eventually, I realized: Korra isn’t Aang. And she doesn’t need to be.
Korra was rebellious, power-driven, and eager to become the Avatar.
But she had no understanding of the real world.
When she arrived in Republic City, everything was new to her — technology, media, chaos, crime.
She could bend three elements, yes.
But she was still an incomplete Avatar.
And yet, people immediately expected her to be a savior.
Then came the threat: Amon.
A man who could take people’s bending away.
Korra was scared.
But no one lets the Avatar be scared.
So she pretended to be strong.
She ignored Tenzin’s warnings and rushed into a fight she wasn’t ready for.
Because otherwise, they’d call her “a weak Avatar.”
And things didn’t go her way.
Amon ambushed her.
And in that moment… Korra broke.
Everything she’d been holding in — fear, pressure, loneliness — turned into a single tear.
In that moment, she wasn’t just the Avatar.
She was a tired, frightened, overwhelmed girl.
Many viewers saw that moment as a failure.
But to me, it was her first real step toward growth.
Because strength isn’t about not being afraid.
It’s about facing fear and learning how to live with it.
And for Korra, everything truly began with that tear.

Alright New Avatar show theory time:
I think it should be pretty clear for anyone who knows TLoK and AtLA that the set up of "Korra destroys the world" isn't going to be accurate. Or if it is, there is some puzzle piece we're missing of what happened that caused such a catastrophic change.
My current working theory is that Pavi spends a good portion of the show trying to connect with Korra, only to receive visions that reinforce the idea of Korra being an enemy of mankind. Anyone who likes Korra as a character knows how hard she takes perceived failures and I fully believe it's a kiyoshi moment of bearing responsibility for something that wasn't even really your fault. If the show is 2 seasons I can see season 1 being the build up to the reveal of what happened and season 2 is Pavi trying to reveal the truth and right wrongs.
I want to say for anyone who will claim it: I'm not trying to woobify Korra or claim she's flawless. But Korra has grown enough to aim consistently for the outcome that causes the least pain. She's not overly violent or destructive. I think whatever happened was out of her control and she did the best she could with what she had.
That said I'm very excited to see how Pavi differs from Korra and what ways she will alter the story.

With the new Avatar series being post apocalyptic, I had to draw this up:

I'm not the most hyped about the new premise either, but I'm going to wait until we get actual footage to form my opinions!

Book 1 in a nutshell
Zuko: Well look who we have here. If it isn’t my second worst enemy
Aang: Second? Who’s the first?
Zuko: Me of course. I dedicate a lot of time to hating myself I deserve to be number one at something

Sokka: [looking at a photo of Lu Ten with a turtle] Is that your cousin?
Zuko: Oh, that’s him and Zuko.
Sokka: He named the turtle after you?
Zuko: He named me after the turtle.

I will never understand how people hate on Katara for the way she acts about her mother. Yes, Sokka and Katara share the same mother and they both lost her but their pain is NOT the same. Katara lives everyday of her life with the fact that as the southern water tribes sole bender, she couldn't protect her mother AND with the fact that she is indirectly responsible for the death of her mother. The amount of guilt she feels is indescribable, of course she's always going to lament her mother's loss.

i’m so serious when i say nalu is the goofiest ship in fairy tail and also the one that makes me lose my mind the most. like look at them. look at these screenshots. they are so chronically unserious it’s actually romantic. why are they always matching each other’s chaotic energy??? like they weren’t just meant for each other, they were engineered in a lab to be the two most ridiculous people in the guild and then fall in love about it. the synchronized screaming. the dramatic hand-holding like someone just proposed. the way natsu sparkles while lucy looks five seconds away from homicide. they are so stupid. they are SO STUPID. and yet so in sync it makes my brain short-circuit.
they’re soulmates in the most obnoxious way possible. not in a soft “we complete each other” kind of way but in a “we got kicked out of a restaurant for sword fighting with breadsticks” way. and they’d be laughing the whole time. they match each other’s every step, every tone, every over-the-top facial expression like they’re one shared creature split into two hot idiots. i love them so much it physically pains me. like this isn’t even about romance anymore. this is about divine comedy. this is about two people being so chaotic together that the universe just gave up and said “fine. fine. you win. be together forever.” and they will. they will be so annoying and dramatic and in love until the end of time. and i’ll be right there cheering them on
