The glass of wine was bitter on Orion’s tongue, it suited his mood, after a family dinner where he was not but a puppet to be strung and pulled along by his father, Arcturus Black. His mother did not even bother to look at him as his father spoke of his newly appointed engagement. He knew she was struggling, she didn’t want this for him either but she supported it nonetheless. So she kept her glances on everyone but her only son. Her so-called joy of her life, her little hunter.

First paragraph more like it. hahahah. Part of a fest fic, main ship is Orion/Alphard. Thanks for the free tag @impishtubist (I saw an opening and took it.) First Line of 2024 and WIP Wednesday

Hey all! I am HELLA late this week, mostly because it was my first work day of the new year and I spent most of the late afternoon/evening packing away all of my outdoor Christmas decorations (way more inflatables than you might expect...or maybe the exact amount you would expect out of me haha). But here I am, better almost late than never!

And now for WIP Wednesday, featuring a very spontaneous WIP that I sat down and wrote in one sitting and am now just waiting for the right time for it to exist in the world (after a bit more editing plus some design work on my part):

To have and to hold. To love and to cherish. To stand on the cliff’s edge of forever and jump without fear. Because tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us, and love is too important not to yell at the top of your lungs, even while standing outside of a palace in the pouring rain.

I can almost promise you this is NOT the fic you might be thinking based on this snippet...but that's the beauty of writing, isn't it? It's all up for interpretation!

I'm not going to give out any tags tonight because I don't want to pressure anyone into making a post in the next...40-ish...minutes, so consider this an open tag if you're late like me! And I promise to be more on top of things on Sunday/next week!

Brian stands in the doorway and watches with warm eyes Justin as he pats lotion on his arms and legs, the slight tremble in his right hand revealing the toll the night has taken on him. A faded, bleach stained blue terrycloth robe frames his body and Brian’s palms itch with desire to touch the pale, golden skin that has remained as soft as that first night.

BFFR you're comparing Rick Riordan trying to make his world more inclusive, changing some parts because of money/time constraints, or just making changes cus he thinks they're needed, to JKR being a terrible person!

i really do admire how lando tries to not give a fuck (that 'whatever' really saddened me so much) but he actually does, and a lot.

guy doesn't even want anything absurd, he just wants the support of his team for the last fucking 4 races but no... let's just get humiliated for one point on international tv💀.

they're really stretching him thin — and i mean it in a emotional and mental wellbeing way. he is obviously inherently selfless and quite literally does not hold self-esteem, but in the last year we've seen him trying to be more sure of himself and trying to be selfish for once. the moment he does that though, he gets accused of being the spawn of satan. and then the team does everything in the world to make it harder for him.

so i really do admire him, because i literally would PERSONALLY leave the sport after this one season.

he's so much stronger than i am.
