What's the worst that could happen?" and then for the next 16 episodes they're each other's go-to confidant, the only person they're COMPLETELY honest with at all times, and go through even MORE shit together. And after losing their first two teammates last time they were on a case they both uncoordinated unprompted decide THEY are solely responsible for these 4 other people no matter what and whereas the first time around they don't really seem deeply connected with their teammates, this time they organically become a found family that endures and endures and endures and even though everything they do is to solve the case they've been assigned to, it always somehow feels like all of them but especially these two are far more concerned about the well-being of the team first and foremost and every time something happens they're each other's first thought and the deeper into this mystery they get they keep making each other promise to take care of the rest of the team if something happens to one of the two of them and the other DOES promise every time and despite that promise when the time comes and something happens to one of the two of them the other is still screaming and refusing and despairing over the other because a part of them fooled themselves at some point that the day when they'd have to take care of the others like they promised each other wouldn't ever Actually come. And we just have to be okay with all that.

And that's just as someone who's about to start episode 15. Fuck.
