A long overdue Inkdrop review (hey that rhymed)!
I commissioned @transtundras-fr to bring my nocturne, Inkdrop to life via crochet.
I went with the medium plush size so she stands at around 6ins tall.
The plush is good quality, she holds together well nothing feels loose on her. Even her sewn on button eyes. Frankie did a great job at simplifying the nocturne design in a way that is still readable as a nocturne, as well as matching her on site colors (midnight and spring) to her yarn colors. I love the way she nicely sits. She's not wobbly at all.
Inkdrop on site only has basic genes so I can't say add anything about how gene patterns translate to the crochet design.
I think my only complaint is the front view is a little weird due to the legs and arms not being perfectly aligned. But with it being such a small plush it's easily overlooked. Both side views look really nice.
Overall it was wonderful to commission Frankie and I love what I got! Inkdrop looks great watching me from on top of my desk.
#firefly flits#thank you so much for bringing Inky to life#sorry it took me so long to write a review#life got in the way ^^;

Witch Hat Atelier Review (Spoiler Free)
My thoughts from chapter 1 to chapter 70
This was unapologetically queer with a diverse cast in a unique setting.
The Worldbuilding... and one thing about me is I love a detailed setting from the people, animals to culture. I don't need another fantasy realm with magic without rules and here are dragons and other fantastical creatures. I need uniqueness in every book I consume. And this one just raised my expectations for other fantasy mangas. From the animals, power structure, the rules of magic to people, everything about it just caught my attention and engraved itself in my mind.
Then the characters. If I say I love all the characters, I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. But of course, my favorite will always be the tired man who looks like he hasn't slept in decades and pretends to be cold-hearted but takes better care of the kids than the one who is supposed to take care of the kids.
The story... I don't want to go into too much detail because I don't want to spoil it for anyone but you just gotta trust me and check it out for yourself.
The art... Need I say more?
Just trust me and check it out

Exploring The Dark And Twisted World Of House Of 1000 Corpses (2003)
House of 1000 Corpses, directed by Rob Zombie, is a film that has left an indelible mark on the horror genre. Released in 2003, this black comedy horror film is the first installment in the Firefly film series and has since achieved a cult following. Let's delve into the macabre and unsettling world that Zombie has crafted.
House of 1000 Corpses is heavily inspired by 1970s horror films such as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes. The film is characterized by its grungy aesthetics, over-the-top gore, and maximalist set design. Zombie's directorial debut is a visual and auditory assault, utilizing split screens, atmospheric music, and old film footage to create a disorienting and nightmarish experience.
The film explores themes of evil, murder, insanity, and the grotesque, all wrapped in a darkly comedic package. The Firefly family embodies the ultimate inbred hillbilly nightmare, with each member more deranged than the last. The film's relentless pace and unflinching depiction of violence make it a challenging watch, but for those who appreciate the genre, it is a masterclass in horror filmmaking.
Upon its release, House of 1000 Corpses received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised Zombie's unique vision and the film's bold, gritty style, while others criticized its lack of coherence and reliance on shock value. Despite this, the film has garnered a loyal fanbase and has been followed by two sequels: The Devil's Rejects (2005) and 3 from Hell (2019).
The film's impact on the horror genre cannot be understated. It has inspired countless filmmakers and continues to be a staple of Halloween movie marathons. Its influence can be seen in the resurgence of grindhouse-style horror films and the continued popularity of horror attractions based on the film.
House of 1000 Corpses is not for the faint of heart. It is a film that revels in its own depravity and challenges viewers to confront their darkest fears. Rob Zombie's directorial debut is a testament to his love for the horror genre and his ability to push boundaries. Whether you love it or hate it,.House of 1000 Corpses is a film that demands to be seen and discussed.

Book Blurb:
Satoko is bound by duty to marry a noble, but can’t escape the assassin who has her in his sights.
Afflicted with a heart condition, Meiji-era noblewoman Satoko is determined to secure a marriage that will benefit her family before she dies. But before she can realize her goal, she’s targeted by a mysterious assassin named Shinpei. In a last-ditch effort to save her life, Satoko asks her would-be murderer to marry her. Her proposal isn’t sincere, but unfortunately for her, Shinpei loves as intensely as he kills. Can Satoko find a way to break the engagement without losing her life?
On the surface, Satoko has it all—she’s beautiful, the daughter of a nobleman, and at a prime age for marriage. Unfortunately, she is also quite ill and only has a short time left to live. Before she can secure a marriage that will redeem her worth in her family’s eyes, she finds herself the target of the mysterious assassin Shinpei, and her plans are put in jeopardy. In order to save herself, she makes a desperate proposal—of marriage! When it comes to love, however, Shinpei takes “until death do we part” seriously.
Review:
The beautiful daughter of a noble who has a rare heart condition has lived her whole life with one purpose: to secure a marriage that would benefit her family before she dies... but when she finds herself kidnapped, she'll have to rely on the most unlikely person to save her, the very same murderer who was supposed to kill her and in exchange she'll marry him. Satoko is the daughter of a noble who has lived a sheltered life due to her heart condition. She is stunning and determined to repay her father's love by marrying someone who would benefit the family. Yet when she is kidnapped and about to be attacked, she meets Shinpei, a mysterious murderer who she offers her hand in marriage in exchange for him rescuing her. The more time Satoko and Shinpei spend together the more she begins to find herself falling for this strange, loving man who would sooner cut off someone's limb than let anyone get between them. This is the first volume in the series and I am officially addicted. It's charming, got a sweet romance, eccentric characters, and absolutely keeps you hooked!

I'm trying to get back into the habit of reading at least one book every month and to start the year off I chose @gailynovelry 's Ember Warrior!
Like the previous two books I really loved it and had trouble putting it down. I even read it at work when I really shouldn't have had my phone out whoops.
It hurt seeing the trio split up, but I loved seeing their individual journeys. Meparik and Prince Alaezel were really cute together. I loved seeing more of Gildhe in this book. I like their friendship with Crislie. Poor Naevali really can't get a break though.
I really look forward to reading Breathing Gods and Starlit Prince when they're out!
#firefly flits#maybe I'll write little reviews of my rambling thoughts like this for the other books I read too#heralds of rhimn

Cosy Sci-Fi with Becky Chambers The Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet
With cosy fantasy becoming more popular and sought after, I have started to label things as “cosy” within their respective genres. Becky Chambers’s The Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet is one of those books that radiates good vibes and feels like a cosy sci-fi – something I find very difficult to pull off. If you’re a fan of Star Trek, Firefly, or any space-based adventure series full of…

!!!NEW REVIEW!!!
ironically, the greatest takeaway may not be from the short itself, but its opening titles: perhaps the most bombastic arrangement of “The Merry Go Round Broke Down” known to man can be heard preceding this antithetically humble little venture. it’s another self indulgent pet piece from Chuck Jones, but in a way that is endearing rather than aggravating. in this case, the audience is thrust into the shoes of one Joe Glow, firefly, as he explores his vast surroundings of a tent and a resting camper therein.

Movie Review #002
Serenity
Directed by: Joss Whedon Year: 2005 Length: 1h 59m Rated: 7.8/10 Genre: Sci-Fi Stars: Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher and Summer Glau.
Summary The crew of the ship Serenity fight to protect one of their own and bring to light what haunts her: the truth.
Review A thrilling space adventure that has an element of horror with high stakes and root-worthy characters. It has rich world-building and a nail-biting plot.
Honest Thoughts Am I biased? Maybe, but that's not the point. This film was great, despite its certain... faults. Joss, sleep with one eye open. I marathoned the show, Firefly, with my parents and then put off watching the film because I knew it would mean the end. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend both. Space cowboys committing crimes that also have the found family trope is fiction I didn't know I needed until I watched the show. It could be the same for you.
Scores Performance: 5/5 Plot: 4/5 Effects: 4/5 Flow: 5/5 Engagingness: 5/5 Overall: 5/5

How Firefly (2023) Made Me Cry Twice
By Cassandra Isobelle [June 11, 2024]
Firefly (2023) dir. by Zig Dulay
What else would the image of a young boy picking up his mother’s remains bring you other than tears?
It was a random Sunday when I decided to put this movie on as I was tidying up my room. I wasn’t expecting much of it—didn’t expect I would even finish it, but then just thirty minutes into it I found myself in tears. I couldn’t imagine my mother dead, and when I tried that night, I instantly became a waterfall of tears. And, take note, I am not much of a crier when it comes to films.
Firefly revived the inner dreamer in me that I had not felt in a long time. Its story is very simple, reminiscent of the daydreams I would have on long road trips to the countryside. The cinematography was beautiful, capturing the Philippines with the same light and color I used to see the world in.
Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, and Euwenn Aleta starring in Firefly (2023)
This film may not have been perfect in the way of its structure, but unnecessary interview-narrative aside, it would have been a five-out-of-five stars for me. If only they had focused on the past and given more time to broaden each storyline instead of panning back and forth in the interview, the story would have glided much smoother.
Nonetheless, Firefly was surely successful in delivering a heart-wrenching story on the loss of a parent and the finding of a new family. It was worth all of my time, and in my opinion, better than Rewind. (Don’t attack me pls)

In the Clear Moonlit Dusk / Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki (SOME Spoiler Warning) Part 2
Part 1
Love the new gen era of shoujo MLs that care for their partner's opinions and ask for what they'd like and want to do. They show their vulnerability and don't treat it as a weakness.
I forgot but I think they had a misnderstanding here.
But they got over it
Just a thing about forgiveness. If you want it, bring pastries. I may or may not forgive you but at least I'm fed.
I like them. They fight, talk it out, be cute, then tsundere, then plainly are the hottest couple. He takes control and so does she.
I'm looking forward to this one.
BONUS
This manga just has the best side characters.
Her dad:
His and her friends

Will Grave of the Fireflies make you cry?
There is no sexual content in this movie, no graphic violence or not even bloodshed and gore elements. If you are looking for the things mentioned above, you are probably not an adult; at least not in the department of having a mature taste in feature-length films. This is one of those movies that only the mature can swallow.
Ranked #61 in Berardinelli’s Top 100, this animated title is worth all the hype that has been built around it over the years. I can confidently proclaim this as the best animation film I have ever watched; not even Miyazaki‘s masterpiece Spirited Away and Shinkai‘s epic Your Name come close!

NCT Dream: K-pop Discography Deep Dive (Part ONE)
NCT Dream is one of several units of NCT, the others being NCT 127, NCT U, NCT Wish, and WayV. NCT Dream debuted in 2016, at around ages 14-16 (and now, no longer being that young, I wince internally). NCT Dream has seven members: Mark, Jeno, Jaemin, Chenle, Haechan, Jisung, and Renjun. So, here are my credentials. NCT Dream was actually one of the first reviews I wrote, back many months ago,…
