I SAW "A QUIET PLACE : DAY ONE" YESTERDAY! JUNE 26 AHHHHH

Y'ALLLL YOU AIN'T READY FOR THIS FILM!!!! how in the world that this film is 2 hours when it doesn't feel like it, THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS, it already captured on the first minutes of the film, oh my freaking god- this film is like one of the bestest prequels that I ever seen in my entire life like don't call me biased on this and I'm not even saying this just because all of the cast are all my favorites but I SWEAR TO GOD!!!! I was never the same person after watching this, me and my bestie had to sit it down for a moment to let it digest everything BECAUSE "WOAH??? that was it???" it's literally the perfect amount of apocalyptic, end of the world, suspense, thriller, drama, and friendship- I CRIED TWICE ON THIS!!!! and also Lupita and Joseph are absolutely so impressive actors like I can't even! I LOVE HOW THEY ACT USING THEIR EYES AND IT SHOWS SO MUCH EMOTION WITHOUT THE NEED OF DIALOGUES, it really shows they have that GIFT!!!!! they're both so ridiculously talented, THE CHEMISTRY IS ALSO INSANEEEEE the cinematography, the sound effects, the perfect timing of building up the tension and also I won't forget to mention on how many times I was close to falling at the edge of my seat because there are so many times on the film that I can feel my heart stopped beating....MICHAEL SARNOSKI, WHATEVER IT IS THAT YOU'RE DOING KEEP DOING IT OMG- YOU'RE A VISIONARY!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻💯💯

Hi sunnie 🫶 I think you're an old movie fan if I remember correctly!! Do you have any old romance movie recs? :) I've been trying to watch more old movies 💗

ooh ooh you have no idea how excited i was to get this ask!

It Happened One Night (1934): a spoiled heiress travels with a newspaper reporter to meet the man she spontaneously married. along the way the heiress and reporter fall in love. I don’t think we even see Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable kiss in this, but the banter and tension between them is sizzling.

Now, Voyager (1942): on the advice of her psychologist, a beaten down young woman travels the world to find herself and inadvertently falls in love with a married man. This one isn’t your typical romantic ending, but somehow it works. The shared cigarette manages to be so romantic yet heartbreaking.

All That Heaven Allows (1955): an older widow falls for the young gardener that reveals to her the hypocrisy of the social rules they live by. One of my favourite movies by Douglas Sirk, you can either watch it as a pure romance or a social critique of 1950s America. Either way, Rock Hudson and Jane Wyman are fantastic. If you really like it, there’s two remakes of it, slightly adjusted for different social critiques.

Some Like It Hot (1959): two witnesses to a mafia murder cross dress as women to escape and begin to compete for the love of a woman they meet while traveling while trying not to blow their cover. Probably the closest to a pure rom-com on this list, it’s just good fun.

These are just a couple movies off the top of my head for old Hollywood romances. Most of the international movies I’ve watched/studied weren’t romances (or at least not happy ones) so they haven’t made an appearance here. I’d love to know if you end up watching any of them!
