"But I've got style, I've got flair!"
Tumblr media
Yes, the logo is handpainted. Yes, it took SO LONG. No, I don't care to do it again. But I probably will, because I'm a glutton for punishment 🤧 And it was worth it for one of my favourite shows from when I was a kid! I LOVED the nanny, everything about the show was just one huge vibe. Pose is made by me.

almost two years after the project wrapped i remembered i never posted my piece from @turnabout-cinema, which was a film review of turnabout trump. much love and gratitude to @mintaii for sending me the high quality jpgs featuring her graphic design genius and the lovely gorgeous artistic stylings of @margalcazo / @letsgomargaux <3
by absolute pure coincidence, i was thinking about this zine this morning and then opened up investigations 2 to discover that the final case (the grand turnabout in the fan translation) has been localised as turnabout for the ages. hee hoo! hee hee hooo!

PLANET OF THE TOONS POSTER CONCEPTS 31-60 (May 11, 2024 - February 2, 2025)
Now that I got all sixty mockup poster design conceptual artwork done thus far for my Planet of the Toons epic work still in progress thus far, may I present, ladies and gentlemen, young and old, the latest 30 poster conceptual artworks done by me for my Planet of the Toons epic in progress done between May 11, 2024 to today February 2, 2025. (and that is, Poster Concept Art 31-60)
Now, imagine a world where mighty saurians (or dinosaurs) still roam the land, and real people of living flesh and blood co-exist with fantastic beings and creatures of living cartoon ink and paint.
But it is also a world where a prophecy will be fulfilled, and where a young leader from our planet (the visiting astronaut David Zarus of Earth, that is) will emerge alongside some of his most unusual companions - an adorable and heroic pair of brother and sister mice (Fievel Mousekewitz and Tanya Mousekewitz from An American Tail, or the Fievel Goes West versions of both mouse boy and girl in particular), a rascally rabbit (Looney Tunes' Bugs Bunny), a greedy duck (Daffy Duck, also from Looney Tunes), and a brave boy genius (Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory) - to command an army of seven thousand warriors against the forces of an evil toon nerd (Dexter's jealous and hateful nerdy rival Mandark of Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip infamy) who threatens to enslave the universe.
It is going to be the epic battle for control of an entire planet of the toons.
Now, anyway, PLANET OF THE TOONS is going to be, I hope, one of the most amazing, incredible, awe-inspiring, unusual, interesting, remarkable, extraordinary, phenomenal, extra-special, and uniquely entertaining films of any kind that we’ll ever see in a very long time.
Being Timothy Robert McKenzie's (or I'd rather actually make that MY) monumental epic of good versus evil as well as of life and adventure being lived on so many different levels among all different kinds of races and species of fantastic beings and creatures - many of them being played by all kinds of cartoon characters and personalities from all across the history and world of animation art - it is a gigantic saga chock-full of action, adventure, romance, drama, pathos, and the occasional cartoon comedy slapstick humor and anarchy that one would still expect from something straight out of the Golden Age of American Animation, while also being very steeped both in the tradition of epic fantasy and science fiction as well as in the history and world of  animation and cartoons of any kind in America and elsewhere.
All of these things are meant to be highly entertaining and enjoyable in a very good way.  And while many of the more full-blooded epic moments of action, adventure and drama are strange, unlikely territory for any type of cartoon characters that has had their original roots in early 20th Century vaudeville and silent film as well as classic slapstick comedy, some are meant to illustrate, even in the near, middle, or far future, the true determiners of a heroic civilization across the stars, such as the struggle of right and wrong, courage in the face of oppression, the willingness to sacrifice one’s self for the greater good, and the belief that good will ultimately triumph over evil.
And think of it all as like a sweeping 21st Century combination of “The Lord of the Rings” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” (with some elements of Dune, Star Wars, even James Cameron's AVATAR movies being thrown in for good measure!), only set on another planet just like our own planet Earth, but located on the faraway edge of the universe out in space.
Among the living ink-and-painted cartoon beings and creatures appearing in this rousing, action-packed, vividly told, and breathtakingly awesome epic tale of otherworldly visitation includes (but are not limited to): Bugs Bunny, King of Rascals and Tricksters, Daffy Duck, his greedy rival, Elmer Fudd, the not-so-mighty hunter prowling through Acme Forest (all three of whom are of Looney Tunes fame), Gertie the Dinosaur (the first cartoon character with a personality, created by Windsor McCay of Little Nemo fame), Popeye the Sailor, Olive Oyl, J. Wellington Wimpy, Bluto (all four of whom were once worked on by the Fleischer Bros. and created by E.C. Segar), Ali Baba’s Forty Thieves (probably from some old 17-minute-long Popeye color cartoon from 1937), Dexter the Boy Genius, Dee Dee, his sister (of Dexter's Laboratory fame), Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Jiminy Cricket (of the Disney Pinocchio fame), Scrooge McDuck (all of them Disney characters, though Scrooge McDuck himself actually originated in a comic book by Carl Barks), Mandark Astronomenov, the Dark Lord of the planet and Dexter’s jealous and hateful rival (of Dexter's Laboratory Ego Trip infamy, that is), and Fievel Mousekewitz and Tanya Mousekewitz, the brother and sister mouse pair decreed by an ancient prophecy, along with one of three visiting astronauts from Earth, to save the PLANET OF THE TOONS around them all from the long-standing and destructive evil unleashed by Mandark many centuries ago.
The magic is that even in the future, heroes still come in many shapes, sizes and species, and that’s perfectly fine. And very soon you along with your friends and loved ones can enjoy this gigantic, sweeping epic of a wondrous, heroic civilization where cartoons and humans - okay, and still-living dinosaurs, too! - share a faraway planet of color, sound, and vision, where good and evil struggle for control of all around them, and all in the comfort of your favorite movie theater near you...and ON YOUR PLANET.
Anyway, that's all, folks, for now...

FMP UPDATE
FMP=final major project
Sorry that I've been inactive, I'm not good at actually posting.
For my FMP I was going to do a short horror film but that fell through badly because me and my actors all fell ill one after the other, so we changed the idea. Instead of a short horror film we are now aiming for the stars with a mockumentary about us failing to make the horror film! I thought this would be easier on me especially with the time restraint, I also had some material for it already from our first horror filming session because we can't do anything without bloopers.
I'll be posting some more posters that I've made for the mockumentary too so stay tuned for that!

"Only a true best friend can protect you from your immortal enemies."
Tumblr media
I know, I know. Say whatever you like about the film - I liked it, actually - but the books were quite lovely so it makes sense! Making this was...harder than it should've been? It's an easy layout, for the most part, but I didn't quite get the effect I would've liked to have, no matter how much I fiddled with all the options, so I had to settle for binarisation. But then again, I don't have an image editing software, I use clip studio, and while I dearly love the program...it has its limitations. "Poses" are once again made by me, directly in blender scene is from @kiinasenes "Halloween special: Shhh, don't open the door"

homra playing just dance🙏
Yata's probably really good at this, I feel like he'd be skilled at this sort of game (and I think it was mentioned somewhere that he's good at games which require you to move your body). Yata's athletic and has good reflexes so I imagine even though he's not good at like memorizing steps he's great at picking things up on the fly. Imagine him playing the game with some of the other Homra guys, like it's a song for four players and it's him along with Bandou who isn't as flexible but is good with games and picks things up fast, Akagi who's also fast on his feet and unexpectedly a surprisingly swift Kamamoto, all doing the dance together in pretty good time. Totsuka would probably enjoy playing too but they all learn quickly to be careful with him, somehow I imagine Totsuka occasionally 'messing up' in ways that almost cause everyone to end up in a pile on the floor. No one can really get mad at him because he just laughs it off and apologizes, saying he missed his footing, and anyway it just makes things more challenging.
Anna would probably want to play too after watching everyone with wide eyes, the guys are all very careful with her and try to pick songs that aren't too hard. Imagine her shyly asking Yata if she can do one of the songs with him but then she messes up and she's upset, Yata though tells her not to worry and yells at the other guys for going too fast, like you guys messed up Anna. Anna asks to try again and no one even minds that they have to play the same song multiple times, it's worth it for the way Anna smiles when she finally finishes a song perfectly. Then Yata asks her what song she wants to do next and she picks one before going over to Mikoto and tugging on his hand. Mikoto's been napping through the whole thing and he's all 'eh?', Anna gives him this unblinking stare as she holds his hand and points to the game. Totsuka scrambles for his camera, grinning as he's like come on King it's your turn. Yata gets all red and nervous, super excited that Mikoto-san is going to dance with them and I bet he's so distracted he messes up on the first step (and then blames Kamamoto instead, who's like 'Yata-san you were the one who missed weren't you'). Mikoto though isn't exactly swift on his feet, at least not for this sort of thing, imagine him moving all stiffly and Anna has to tell him how to do it properly, demonstrating each step for him while Totsuka laughs and films the whole thing.

In my freshman year of high school my language arts teacher told my class to draw, sing, or write a poem of a scene from our group books, and I asked if I could make the art with sfm. She said yes, and so I recreated scene from the first book of "Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", the scene the main character Jacob fights a monster called a hollowgast one on one!

Artist Research - Saul Bass
Saul Bass was an American filmmaker and graphic designer best known for his corporate logos, film title sequences, and poster designs.
Bass worked with many of Hollywood's greatest filmmakers, such as Otto Preminger and Alfred Hitchcock, designing posters for films such as The Anatomy Of A Murder and Vertigo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His style is incredibly direct. His use of colour is striking and simplistic, using limited colour palettes he typically designs with black, red, and white.
His compositions are bold, often focusing on one central subject with little to no background or added elements to distract from it. He typically depicts the subject in a blocky silhouetted style that is direct and easy to decipher from a distance.
The writing and the subjects are often removed from one another, and he typically gravitates toward a blockier font that is reminiscent of handwritten lettering. This gives his posters the impression of being grungier and more down to earth.

PLANET OF THE TOONS POSTER CONCEPTS 1-30 (January 4, 2022 - April 4, 2024)
Now that I got all sixty mockup poster design conceptual artwork done thus far for my Planet of the Toons epic work still in progress thus far, may I present, ladies and gentlemen, young and old, the first 30 poster conceptual artworks done by me for my Planet of the Toons epic in progress done between January 4, 2022 to April 4, 2024. (though this may be very rough at the beginning, yes, and sure, even the live actors represented may not be the final actors for the roles that I have in mind for this.)
Now, PLANET OF THE TOONS is one of the most amazing, incredible, awe-inspiring, unusual, interesting, remarkable, extraordinary, phenomenal, extra-special, and uniquely entertaining films of any kind that we’ll ever see in a very long time.
Being Timothy Robert McKenzie's (or I'd rather make that MY) monumental epic of good versus evil as well as of life and adventure being lived on so many different levels among all different kinds of races and species of fantastic beings and creatures - many of them being played by all kinds of cartoon characters and personalities from all across the history and world of animation art - it is a gigantic saga chock-full of action, adventure, romance, drama, pathos, and the occasional cartoon comedy slapstick humor and anarchy that one would still expect from something straight out of the Golden Age of American Animation, while also being very steeped both in the tradition of epic fantasy and science fiction as well as in the history and world of  animation and cartoons of any kind in America and elsewhere.
