Blades On Ice
(and this is the newest story I have actually taken on, probably has the healthiest mix between actual writing and planning ahead)
SYNOPSIS: Greyson Dwyer has everything a young hockey player wants, Captain of the Icehogs, ready to be scouted by professional teams and colleges alike, everything at his fingertips. Except for the fact that he has a secret interest in figure skating. He's never really tried it himself, as soon as he could walk it was just time to learn how to play hockey, but every time he's seen a figure skater at the rink he just thinks it's beautiful. Which leads him to Hakeem Fowler. Hakeem is the best male figure skater at his school (and the only), and he wants to learn how to do it. Even if it wouldn't be for anyone else to see, it's for himself. Hakeem thinks Greyson is just trying to waste his valuable training time, but through a deal with Greyson's best friend, he agrees, and the two boys get closer than they could have imagined.
IMPORTANT CHARACTERS:
Greyson Dwyer, 17. Captain and center of his local hockey team, the Icehogs, Greyson has been skating since he was a toddler. His parents both played hockey, and his grandad did as well, but he has had an interest in figure skating since he was a preeteen. He is openly bisexual.
Hakeem Fowler, 18. Figure skater since he was young despite his parents initial disapproval, he has been training for the Olympics for years but so far has yet to make the team. He has won quite a few local and not local competitions.
Annalise O'Connell, 17. Rightwinger for the Icehogs and Greyson's best friend since they were kids and starting hockey at the same time. She loves the sport more than anything and knows Hakeem from overlapping rink times, she has a twin sister who is deaf.
Joseph Woodrow, 34. Coach of the Icehogs, he is like a second father to Annalise. He is hard on the team but cares about the group a lot.
Antonia Dancu, 37. The main figure skating coach at the local ice rink, she trains with Hakeem often but is not officially his coach.
Giselle O'Connell, 17. Twin sister to Annalise, she is very supportive of her sister and is very good at photography
Cyrus Kalchuck, 16. Newest member of the Icehogs, he is a very excitable boy who is new to hockey and develops a huge crush on Giselle
Milo Brigham, 18. Member of the Icehogs, this is his last season with the team before he goes to college. He isn't the nicest, but he cares about the team

The Penalty Box Contract
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Who is that?” Annabelle asked, pointing towards the picture Abby was putting up on her office wall. Matt stared momentarily, watching Abby steady herself as she tried to center the photo on her wall. Annabelle cleared her throat.
“Right. That’s Jack Cooper. Plays for the Jersey Sirens.” Matt told her as Abby turned around. She gave the two of them a smile. Annabelle looked over at Matt, who returned the smile. She huffed out a laugh.
“Like I said, hockey players are creeps,” Annabelle told him, giving Abby a wave before walking past Matt and towards the elevator.
“Jack isn’t that bad. Once you get to know him.” Matt said, tearing his attention away from Abby to look at Annabelle. The elevator dinged, and the doors opened. Annabelle gave herself a moment before entering the car. She turned and yelled towards Matt as the doors closed.
“Doubt it.”

ARC Review: The Signature Move
By Cassandra Diviak aka @queen-kass-the-writer
Tumblr media
The Signature Move is the first contemporary romance of Cassandra Diviak’s that I’ve delved into and I have to say I’m not in any way disappointed. While I wouldn’t call ‘Sports Romance’ my preferred genre, Diviak is able to bring characters to life with a vivacity that grabs you immediately.
The Signature Move explores themes of domestic violence, parental neglect and emotional abuse, eating disorders, and the worst kind of ex-boyfriend, but with a light, delicate, touch that handles the difficult subject matters with care and careful consideration.
Woven over and through these heavy topics is the kind of beautiful romance I’ve come to expect from Cassandra, bringing a much needed lightness to the story, despite it’s origins within the bounds of an enemies-to-lovers trope. Logan and Ava capture your heart quickly, and their rivalry on the rink will have you rooting for one, or both of them sooner rather than later!
Alongside our main couple is a cast of diverse characters that are a delight to get to know, and gave a warm, underlying, ‘Found Family’ feel to the town of Waybrook.
Overall, a 10/10 read from the wonderful Cassandra Diviak!
Check out some more reviews, and maybe add this wintery romance to your TBR over on Goodreads...
The Signature Move Releases on January 17th! Ebook & Preorders available at Amazon now!

I'm gonna be dead serious, as a person who's currently hyperfixating on yuri on ice, and as a person who started liking mcr literally the year after they broke up...
Being obsessed with yuri on ice in this economy is WAYYYY more devastating like holy shit

Pirihara’s NHK performance of their cannibalism free dance (they performed better, scored and placed higher in Espoo but I have this one saved already).
The story of the program is that Yuka is a siren/mermaid (whatever) who kills and eats Yuho who’s a sailor. Let’s be real a program like that deserves to be on tumblr.

It's a Love/Skate Relationship
US Release: January 28, 2025
UK Release: March 13, 2025
Art by Emma Gillette
Preorder & Goodreads links here! (This art print will be part of the Love/Skate Preorder campaign. More info coming soon!)
Fans of Rachael Lippincott, Elise Bryant, and Dahlia Adler will love this joyful debut novel, a sapphic enemies-to-lovers romance between a hotheaded hockey player and the ice princess at the figure skating rink next door.
Charlie Porter is a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the hockey rink. When she accidentally starts a brawl after a game, she's suspended from school, meaning no hockey this season--and no chance to play in front of college scouts.
Alexa Goldstein's pairs skating partner was hurt in the fight, and with only four months until their next competition, pickings for a replacement are slim. So she strikes a deal with Charlie--skate with her at the competition well enough to place, and her Olympian mother will use her formidable connections to get Charlie in front of scouts at D-1 schools, even without her team.
It seems impossible, and not just because Charlie has never figure skated before. Where Charlie is powerful, Alexa is elegant; where Charlie is quick to blow up, Alexa is cold as ice. But as the frostiness between them starts to thaw, they begin to wonder if they've found a partner for more than just skating.

Icebreaker - UCMH #1 by Hannah Grace, 447 pages, published November 22nd 2022 - 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I will openly admit I had one main issue with this book, and thinking on it now I think it was probably the only issue I had with the book. That issue being it was too long, in a weird way. So I loved every scene I wanted to read all of it. But there was definitely a minimum of five chapters at least that just weren’t needed and could have been extra stuff, my thing is these are directly in the middle of the story as a bunch of stuff is going on - we get this lull of happy fluff that in my opinion could have just waited and would have helped with my feelings of feeling like I was being dragged along.
All of that said I want to say I did really really like this book and all of the characters within it. There are so many potential paths I can see the following books possibly going down and all of them excite me.
Cheers to our Olympic gold medalist Anastasia Allen!! You maybe have started your story in some bad relationships both with people, planners, and food. But by the end you were flourishing and being the best you that there ever could be by surrounding yourself with people who love you (The Boys, Lola, Nathan), working on yourself when it came to food and emotions, and just overall making time to enjoy the moment!!
If you haven’t picked up Icebreaker by Hannah Grace yet - I 100% recommended it as an amazing holiday break relaxation read!
Also if anyone has anymore ice skating romance books I need them yesterday!! Please and thank you. 💕⛸️

Super niche, but I just saw someone comment on something saying that they can't comprehend the fact that figure skating qualifies as a sport and as a figure it kind of just ticked me off? Of course the skaters seen on TV are really good at it and they make it look easy but the amount of work that goes into training that isn't seen in competition isn't as pretty as what's shown on the screen. There's a lot of off ice training for cardio and strength in the form of fitness classes and there's also the on ice cardio training which is running program parts in addition to the full run through. AND THEN, so it looks good, there's ballet, and on ice movement, and theatre on ice etc. etc. etc. which makes you THINK it's more of an artform but I've gotten so many bruises from falling that I don't think I can call it art, more like pain. Honestly figure skating is a dangerous sport, there's so many risks that can lead to injuries, I've a couple of friends who have gotten concussed from bad falls and I call myself very fortunate for not having gotten any bad injuries that cause me to take time off (knock on wood) but all of the gross stuff that happens out of the shiny costumes is what gives figure skating the right to call itself a sport.
