WIP
breaking news i'm writing again!! i think it's literally been an entire year since i updated that fierce deity au but we don't have to talk about that. anyways i thought i'd post a little bit of something as motivation to make sure i actually finish it.
as always this AU is entirely inspired by @shade-pup-cub's fic A Deity's Son.
I've been hammering out some details of the story and other characters, so here's some ruminating on Wild's mother. wip under the read more <3<3<3
_____
There is a woman sitting alone in a field. Dark hair and pale skin. She is not a warrior. Thus, he does not know what she is.
She holds the mask in her lap. Touches it. Not violently. The mask has not been his prison, in name or practicality, for some thousands of years, but that does not mean he has ever stopped paying attention to it.
_____
“My name is Jenera,” she murmured. “What is yours? Do you have a name?”
“The Fierce Deity, who presides over battle and bloodshed,” he said. “And, Dametrius.”
“Fierce Deity,” she said. Testing, tasting. “Dametrius.”
_____
Mortals are often predictable and often surprising and most often of all an intricate mixture of the two. Jenera is exactly who he expects her to be, and she understands him in a way he thinks perhaps no one ever has. There are few who understand what it is to be a God. There are many who understand what it is to be a soldier. Jenera is neither. She understands what it means to be different. The bizarreness of physicality and the idleness of philosophy.
_____
“Do you speak?” she asks. Dametrius inclines his head.
“I am curious,” she admits, “what is the voice of battle and bloodshed?” And Dametrius says, “The voice of a man.”
And Jenera laughs.

Fluffvember Day 5 - “You do not know how to cook, do you?”
It had been a long stretch of days. The men had managed to actually keep up with a group of Yiga they were hunting, eliminating them and gathering more intel. According to the most recent reports, their boys had traveled through a portal the Yiga leader had created, worrying the fathers.
What if it had been a trap? They’d traveled through a portal recently, stumbling upon a pirate and his own Hero. Thankfully, they’d spared that child from the same fate as their own sons, but if there was another one…
Abel chewed on his lip anxiously, eyes analyzing the area as if he would suddenly find a trace of his son. But so far, the boys had evaded recapture and were holding their own, and the latest report indicated his son was still, miraculously, alive.
This led to a new dilemma, though.
“For the last time, I said no,” Abel snapped as Rusl once more brought up the idea of taking a break for the rest of the day. “Do you have any idea how close we are?”
“No. I don’t.” Rusl argued. “We caught our objective, and the information we got indicates that they’re doing okay. We have no idea where this portal is that the report mentions, only that they were spotted by another Yiga team.”
“The phrasing is strange for their typical reports,” Fierce noted, reading it once more. “They indicate they don’t entirely trust the team they received the information from.”
Abel looked at the journal, peeking around the deity’s arm. The phrasing that other team was a bit odd.
An unsettling conclusion settled in his stomach. “They probably weren’t the same Yiga.”
Rusl and Fierce glanced at him, and he elaborated, “That dungeon gave us a means of traveling to different eras of Hyrule. Clearly they have a similar tool - the gate we traveled through was one of their making, not ours, and they were attempting to capture another Hero. That stands to reason that they likely ran into Yiga who are not part of their original plan or era, but who are helping them.”
“How long have the Yiga been around?” Rusl asked.
“Long enough,” Abel grumbled, glancing around once more.
Fierce hummed thoughtfully before snapping the journal shut. “The portals have a magical energy that I can track, but I do not sense any nearby. This is not likely something we will find before the day’s end.”
“So we should stick to my original suggestions,” Rusl noted.
Abel rolled his eyes. “We do not need to take a break! We should at least make some headway—”
“What headway, Abel?” Rusl interrupted. “We’ve been tracking and hunting for four days with little to no rest. I did not argue the point as it was necessary, but now it is not! We will never find that portal if we wear ourselves out unnecessarily.”
“Do you often just lounge around while your son is missing?” Abel snapped.
“No. I didn’t.” The Ordonian replied coldly, and his phrasing made Abel pause—had his son been kidnapped before? “But I knew when to recognize he was safe.”
“Be at peace,” Fierce intoned, pointing ahead. “There is a settlement. We can obtain information there while also recovering our strength.”
Abel sighed, knowing better than to argue any further. A brief interrogation of the locals indicated there was no portal or strange activity in the area, but by then the sun was kissing the horizon and Rusl refused to let the group leave.
There wasn’t really much in the way of an inn or taverns, leaving the men to fend for themselves for food. Abel usually cooked for the group, having automatically taken up that duty, but he had no appetite and was instead pacing restlessly at the edge of town, worrying about his child.
So Rusl picked up the slack.
Abel could be appreciative of someone putting in the effort, even if the end result was unsatisfactory. Despite his high standards, he at least tried to be reasonable.
However, when he smelled something burning, and he worriedly made his way back to the others to find Fierce and Rusl huddled over a cooking pot, black, charred remains of something staring back at them pitifully… he found himself lacking in warm sentiments.
“You really cannot cook, can you?” Abel noted dully.
Rusl made to argue his point when what was left of the food spontaneously erupted into flames. Rusl quickly threw a lid on top of the pot, suffocating the flames and leaving the three men coughing on what smoke remained.
Fierce hesitantly lifted the lid despite Rusl’s protests, but the flames seemed to have been choked out. He grabbed the ladle and poked at the ashes.
“This hardly seems edible,” he noted.
“I would have never guessed,” Abel quipped, and Rusl sighed heavily.
“I’ll try again,” the Ordonian grumbled. “I can at least make something edible—”
“No, you’ve done enough damage,” Abel interrupted, wondering how in the world either of these men survived on their own. “I’ll make dinner.”
“Then I can at least prep the ingredients,” Rusl argued. “I’m not being useless, especially since I’m the one who suggested we stay here. I know you wanted to keep searching, Abel.”
The former knight watched the blacksmith a moment before glancing away, trying to let his annoyance drain out of him. “You’re right. I did want to keep searching. But it’s pointless to argue the fact now. I know… I know you want to find your son as much as I want to find mine.”
“We must ascertain a way to help your son, as well,” Fierce added. “After all, he is grievously wounded, is he not? I have marked locations for the great fairies we’ve encountered so far.”
Abel stared at the deity, caught off guard. He… well, he knew Fierce wasn’t necessarily cruel, but he certainly was aloof and focused mostly on his own child. For him to even be considering such a thing…
“Now, let’s focus on eating,” Rusl said gently. “I think we’ll all be a lot less grouchy if we do. I’ll cut everything up.”
Abel sighed, accepting the help, and the men set out to making dinner once more in amicable silence, and after they’d feasted, the three were chuckling and speaking as the friends they were once more.

btw in the restaurant au. if you even care. jack goes to culinary school because growing up, his dad always made incredible food, and he started puttering around the kitchen with him when he was like 5 years old. he always wanted to try better recipes and newer things, and his dad- though they didnt have much money- would always save up for good ingredients so jack could cook whatever his little heart desired. cooking was their time; i imagine his dad was a line cook or something, not at a fancy restaurant or anything but at a little diner, and cooking was Their thing. jack would spend all day with his mom, and as soon as his dad came home- no matter how tired he was of cooking, no matter how much he wanted to just go lay down- they would go to the kitchen and he would supervise jack as jack made dinner for everyone.
when jack’s mom gets sick, he’s 10 years old, and his dad has to cut back his time at the diner to take care of her, since jack is in school and can’t be there. this means they bring in less money, so they can’t really afford to pay for the fresh ingredients now; most of their meals at home are dollar store staples. hanburger helper, microwavable TV dinners, sandwiches- they genuinely don’t have the money to spend on fresh produce anymore, and even buying ground beef and chicken breasts is splurging that they can’t often afford.
they live on a shoestring budget until jack can get his first job at age 14. his mom beats cancer the first time, but they’re drowning in medical debt, so jack finds a job that will actually hire him despite not being 15 yet, and his first real job is working as a dishwasher at a restaurant down the street. he works nearly every day, and all of his money is given to his father, despite his father insisting that he doesn’t need a job, he shouldn’t have a job, he’s just a kid and his money should be going toward kid stuff and not paying his parent’s medical bills.
but jack refuses, so they keep it up. i think the only non-mom-related expenses jack has are food related,, sometimes he’ll stop in the little grocery store he would go to with his dad when they were younger and buy fresh vegetables and a little two pound roll of hamburger meat, just so they can at least have one meal that isn’t ready from a box. jack continues this until he’s fifteen, and by the time he turns 15, his mother’s cancer is back, even after only been beaten for a year, and it’s a lot worse.
jack drops out at 15, after having long conversations with his father, and though it breaks his father’s heart to see jack doing this, it’s unfortunately what needs to be done. jack drops out and gets another job on top of the dishwashing, and he ends up as a line cook at a fast food place. they’re able to pay the bills on jack’s paychecks, and get groceries with the little that jack’s dad makes from the days he’s able to work.
jack’s mom passes when he’s 16, leaving jack and his dad to cover both funeral and medical expenses. they’re drowning after that, both grieving in their own ways. jack’s father can barely get out of bed for weeks, but jack is back at work the day after his mother’s funeral because he knows they can’t risk falling behind on bills.
jack’s dad loved his mom so much. they were such a happy family before she got sick, which wasn’t her fault, none of this was ever her fault, but after she passes he’s completely out of commission. he can’t keep a job, he barely talks anymore, he drinks and drinks until jack can’t recognize him. it’s terrifying to watch, but jack gives him his time- he knows that eventually, his father is going to get back on his feet, and he’s going to be okay, and he’s going to go back to work and they’re going to get to relax and things will be fine again.
jack’s dad dies a few days after jack’s 18th birthday. they didn’t see it coming. the paramedics say it was a heart attack. jack likes to think of it as his mom needing his dad. it’s easier to stomach that way.
but that’s fine. everything is fine. jack, freshly 18, plans his second funeral and again, he’s back at work the day after putting his dad in the ground. he sells most of the furniture to have some extra cash. he finds a cheaper apartment in the bad part of town because he can’t afford a two bedroom when he’s just one kid. he has a bed, he has photos of his parents, and he has a kitchen. that’s all he needs.
the next few years pass with jack climbing the ranks in whatever restaurants he can get his hands on. he’s finally in a place where he can save for school, culinary school, and he has more restaurant experience under his belt by the time he’s 21 than most of his older coworkers do. he busts his ass and works so hard to put himself through school, and when he finally gets his certificate after everything, he can rest. he starts applying to different high end restaurants, and he works as a cook in a nice steakhouse for a while, but he doesn’t like his coworkers and knows he deserves more than being miserable.
when he hears about a new restaurant opening in the area, some “high end” burger joint called Pulitzer’s, he throws his hat in the ring with an application and is hired on as the lead chef at the age of 25.
he’s 26 when a new server named David Jacobs is hired, and things start looking up.

Father of Time Chapter 60: A Symptom of Being Hylian
Of course, the next day when they were having breakfast, the letter Anju had sent finally came up. Nocturne pointed to the stack of papers on Link's desk and the boy dug it out, looking aghast.
"Dad! Why didn't you tell them anything?! You should have written back!"
The god blinked at his son, then furrowed his brow.  "It was not my letter."
"Yeah, but I couldn't answer it!  No wonder they were so worried!"
Kafei waved his hands, laughing nervously.  "It's quite alright. I'm not sure getting a letter back from Nocturne would have made us feel better.  Especially if you told the truth."  He glanced at the god and Nocturne nodded seriously.
"Of course, it would not be prudent to mention Link being stolen through time.  I do not make it a habit to lie though."
"All you had to do was say I was kidnapped and that you were looking for me! It wasn't even a lie!"
"Ah, you are correct. I shall keep that in mind if the issue comes up again."
This is a great fluff chapter. And I'll be on vacation next week so no updates until the 28th or 29th at least!

Fierce Deity is doing his best (Dad Squad)
The Fierce Deity looked over at his companions, concerned. He knew mortals were fragile beings and he was at a loss for how to help in this situation. If it had been a wound from battle he would have some knowledge of how to help, but after walking through the cold downpour the other day both Rusl and Abel began coughing, constantly sniffling, and had flushed faces that seemed to get worse the more they walked.
Unfortunately they were in no place to set up camp and both men were as stubborn as the Hero the Deity was searching for. When the pace started slowing due to both men struggling to breathe he made sure to match their speed and stay quiet about how slow they were currently traveling, with the hopes that they would soon find a place to take shelter while the two recovered.
As had been their luck so far on this quest, they soon ran into a group of monsters, which was smaller than what they had been encountering thus far. As soon as they were within sight he rushed ahead in the hopes to vanquish the enemy before Rusl and Abel could injure themselves in the conflict. With the last of the monsters slain the Deity looked back and felt the near foreign concern spike at the sight of Abel collapsing on the ground.
Time seemed to slow despite the speed with which he was moving, as hacking coughs were heard escaping Abels chest, where his hands were clenched and his eyes were squeezed tight in pain. Rusl was giving Abel a pat on the back (something the Deity was … less skilled at), before breaking into wet rattling coughs himself. He feared at this rate neither of them would make it to shelter on their own.
While they both insisted they were grown adults, both were small enough that Deity (gently ever so gently with delicate mortal organs) scooped a hand beneath each and cradled them to his side to be able to move swiftly, hoping that help could be found in time. While the sun had been high in the sky when the monsters attacked it was beginning to set by the time the forest they had been in was thinning.
He finally slowed down when they saw smoke in the air and adjusted course to head directly to the signs of civilization. He nearly sighed in relief upon the sight of a small cabin, wood stacked neatly at the side and smoke smelling of roasting meat rising from the chimney. He set the two down softly by the front door and they both broke out in a fit of coughing.
He crouched so that he could knock on the door; that was what Rusl did before entering personal dwellings and he seemed to get the most positive response from people. After a moment waiting where he could hear movement behind the door, it opened. A hylian taller than both Abel and Rusl (though still small to him) with black hair and brown eyes looked at the sash on his waist. His eyes moved up the breastplate, skin turning from a healthy tan to a more pale complexion. Then his eyes rose higher, skin losing blood to an alarming degree. When his eyes landed on the Deity’s face the hylian tipped over, lying unmoving on the floor.
This was … not ideal.
Before he could move to resolve the situation a hylian woman moved into view, saw the man on the floor and glared at him. He raised his hands to show that he was holding no weapons. (he could almost feel the sword on his back burning). The small woman crossed her arms and looked him in the eye
“Well? Ya gon help me move ‘im since ye scared ‘im face paint?”
Before he can do more than blink, a cough from his sick companions catches the woman’s attention. He backs out of her way as she frets over the men, before following her commands to bring them inside. He follows her curt instructions without question, amazed by the courage being displayed despite what he knew would be an intimidating sight, seeing as he was still covered in monster blood.
—--------------------
Abel groaned as he came to, his head felt like a Talus had stepped on it. He started sitting up and paused as a cloth fell to his lap with a muted plop. He started for a moment uncomprehending, before it clicked in his mind that he was in a bed and not a stable one.
Feeling alarm shoot through him, Abel nearly collapsed on the floor attempting to stand. A pair of hands steadying him before he could hurt himself on the wooden floor. A glance revealed the enormous hands belonged to the Fierce Deity. Abel felt relieved at the familiar face, then strange looking at his companion who was not wearing his armor, a sight so unfamiliar that Abel blinked to make sure it was real.
Rusl moved into view holding a bowl that smelled amazing, his face breaking into an easy smile at the sight of Abel.
"You're awake! How do you feel?" Abel's growling stomach got a chuckle out of Rusl as the bowl was pushed in his hands, warmth seeping into his chilled fingers.
Abel decided questions could wait after the first spoonful, which was soup of decidedly better quality than either of his companions could make. Once he'd scraped the bowl clean Rusl handed him his clothes, much cleaner than they had been in … a while.
A woman came around the corner with the Fierce Deity trailing behind her, holding several ridiculously large pieces of wood.
"Oh! Yur up then? Let me know if ya need anythin else while you's here. The big ones been an amazing help during you's recovery!" This was said with a smile which seemed rare on her worry lined face.
Abel gave a nod and let her move past unhindered. Rusl had left at some point during the exchange and came back with a bag? Then he opened it to bring out Abel’s sword, which looked more polished than it had ever been since the calamity.
His head whipped up to see a slightly penitent smirk on Rusl's face.
"I hope this helps, I always feel safer traveling with a freshly cleaned and sharpened sword."
Abel simply stared, noting that Rusl still looked pale himself. The lengths these men would go to, for someone who refused to talk about his life before the calamity…Abel felt a smile tug at his lips, unfamiliar after so long spent with despair as his companion.

Tumblr media
I never used to think about what came after. Why would I? It felt pointless, like trying to guess the end of a novel when you’re still tangled in the middle. Every chapter rushing by, barely letting you catch your breath. Sometimes, life dangled a dream so vivid, so close, you could almost feel it in your hands. But right when you thought you had it? That’s when life reminded you—pages stop turning. Lights flick off. And suddenly, you’re back in the grind, stuck right where you started.
Normal? No chance. I wouldn’t recognize normal if it jumped out of the shadows and hit me. Normal was for people who punched clocks and sipped lukewarm coffee in beige cubicles. My mornings started when the world was still dark—lacing up my skates, the cold air biting at my face. Stretch until the pain dulled, practice until my routines were burned into my mind like a broken record. The rink smelled like sweat, frost, and desperation, clinging to me as I chased that perfect moment, day in and day out.
That was my life. Until it wasn’t.
From the moment I took my first steps, the ice had been my escape. My personal sanctuary. Each time my skates touched the frozen surface, electricity sparked through me, alive in my bones. My mom, Emily, she saw it first. She recognized that fire in me and latched on, pulling me headfirst into the competitive skating world. She wasn’t just supportive—she was relentless, like a storm barreling down on me, pushing me to be perfect. To her, maybe that was all that mattered.
People whispered behind her back, saying she was living vicariously through me, chasing dreams she’d lost. But I didn’t resent her for it. Her ambition, fierce and all-consuming, burned like a fire. It kept me warm—even when it scorched me. It wasn’t the trophies or the standing ovations that drove me. It was the ice itself. Out there, I wasn’t just a name on a roster. I was free.
Emily had been a skater once, too. But life, cruel and chaotic, had other plans. Her dreams fizzled out, lost somewhere between time and circumstance. When she got pregnant with me, she married my dad, Jim, and watched her ambitions wither like dead leaves. Year by year, regret settled in, until all she had left was me—and the ice. I became her second chance.
She met Jim when she was still a bright-eyed girl in a small town, dreaming big. He came to Michigan for police training; she was restless, yearning for more. They fell in love—or something close to it. Soon enough, I came along, and after a quick courthouse wedding, our lives unraveled. Emily and I left Michigan for Colorado, chasing skating dreams. Jim drifted back to Olympia, Washington, sinking into his routine like it was quicksand.
I became the bridge between them, constantly tugged between my dad’s predictable world and my mom’s fierce drive. Stability—something I longed for—was never in the cards. Emily hated Michigan, so we stayed away. Jim became less of a father and more of a ghost.
The crackle of the intercom yanked me from my thoughts. My knee throbbed, a bitter reminder.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain. We’re starting our descent into Detroit, where it’s currently five-eighteen p.m., and a frigid fifteen degrees Fahrenheit. Please secure your belongings.”
Michigan. I was back, but it didn’t feel like home. It hadn’t for years. And yet, here I was. Family wasn’t a refuge—not with Jim. He felt more like a stranger now, a shadow of someone I used to know. The home we once had? Long gone.
Monday, I’d meet with Dr. Jeon. People swore he was the best, but deep down, I already knew none of it mattered. The moment my skate hit that rough patch of ice, when my body twisted and the world flipped upside down, I knew—my skating days were over.
I could still see it. The rink, bathed in soft afternoon light, the sound of *Swan Lake* floating through the air. I wasn’t competing that day, just skating for the sheer joy of it. Emily and my coach were in the bleachers, discussing my next routine. I built up speed, heading into a fan spiral, when it happened. My blade caught. My leg buckled. I hit the ice hard. Everything went dark.
The plane’s landing gear screeched, snapping me back to the present. My heart raced, the memory fading like smoke. As the plane stopped, passengers scrambled for their bags. I waited, letting them pass, before grabbing my things. The crutches in my hands were cold, unfamiliar. I used to glide effortlessly across the ice, and now, here I was—struggling just to stay upright on solid ground.
At baggage claim, I stared at the mountain of luggage, feeling the weight of it all sink in. How was I supposed to manage with no free hands?
“You need a hand?”
The voice startled me. I turned and saw him—tall, with warm brown eyes that somehow felt like they saw right through me. Before I could respond, someone bumped into me, and my crutch clattered to the floor. I wobbled, reaching out to steady myself, but he was faster. He caught me.
For a moment, the noise, the crowd, everything blurred. It was just us, frozen in time.
“You alright?” His voice was soft, steady, his hands still gripping my arms. I nodded, heat flushing my face as I pulled away.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks.” I muttered. He bent down, picking up my crutch. As he handed it back, his eyes lingered on me, not with pity, but with something else. Understanding, maybe.
“No problem.” His smile was easy, casual, but there was something behind it, like he had more to say.
Around us, life resumed its frantic pace—people rushing by, voices bouncing off the airport’s high ceilings. But for just a second longer, it was still only us.
“Need help with your bags?” he asked, glancing at the heap of luggage.
I hesitated, my pride prickling. “I’ve got it,” I said, even though I clearly didn’t. My knee throbbed in protest.
He didn’t push. Just smiled, unbothered, and shrugged. “Alright. But it’s no trouble if you change your mind.”
As I shifted my weight, feeling the twinge in my leg, I sighed. “Okay, yeah, I could use some help.” The words tasted like defeat, but he didn’t seem to notice.
He easily grabbed my suitcase, balancing my smaller bag on top. I clung to my messenger bag, determined to carry something myself.
"Is someone picking you up?" he asked as we walked toward the sliding glass doors, the cold Michigan air sneaking in like a thief in the night.
"No, I'll just grab a cab," I said, weaving through the crowd. His presence next to me felt steady, comforting, like a life raft I didn’t even know I needed.
“I’ve got my car in the overnight lot,” he offered casually, like it was no big deal. “I could give you a ride if you want.”
For a moment, I hesitated, caught off guard by the offer. “No, it’s okay,” I said, almost too quickly. “A cab’s fine.” But something shifted in his face—just for a second. Disappointment? Or was that just my imagination?
We stepped outside, and the cold hit me like a slap, sharp and biting. I cursed under my breath for not grabbing my gloves.
He noticed, his lips quirking up in a knowing smile. “Forgot what Michigan feels like in January?”
“Yeah,” I muttered, pulling my coat tighter. “Something like that.” I should’ve been used to it by now. I grew up on ice, for God’s sake. But standing there in the freezing wind felt different, like the cold wasn’t just outside—it was creeping inside me, gnawing at the edges of something deeper.
“So, where were you before this?” he asked, his curiosity genuine, his breath hanging in the air like smoke.
“Nevada. Before that, Colorado. We moved around a lot.” I don’t even know why I was telling him this. I didn’t even know his name.
“We?” He raised an eyebrow, the question soft, but pointed.
“Me and my mom,” I said, my voice quieter now. “She’s never been one to stay put. Wherever she went, I followed.”
He nodded, like he understood more than he should. “A modern-day nomad. Sounds... exhausting.”
I let out a small laugh, more out of habit than anything else. “Yeah, it can be.” But there was something easy about him, something that made this whole conversation feel less strange, less fleeting.
“You staying here for a while?” he asked, his dark eyes locking with mine, the cold forgotten for a moment.
“For the foreseeable future,” I replied, surprising myself with how easily the words slipped out.
“Good to know.” His voice softened, like he was letting me in on some secret only we shared. That crooked smile crept back, and I felt my pulse quicken again. He had no idea what he was doing to me.
I bit my lip, trying to steady the rush of nerves rising in my chest. What was I even doing? Standing here, flirting with a stranger in the dead of winter? This wasn’t real life—it was the stuff of daydreams. But somehow, with him, it felt real. Almost too real.
“Maybe I’ll see you around,” he said, his hand lifting to ruffle his hair again. The messy strands fell back into place like he didn’t care—like he knew exactly how disheveled he looked and leaned into it.
“Yeah, maybe,” I said, though I wasn’t sure I believed it. The airport, the cold wind—it all seemed to fade away, leaving just us in this strange, fleeting moment.
“You live nearby?” I asked, even though I knew I should’ve been hopping into a cab by now, getting out of this freezing wind and back to whatever was left of my life.
“Detroit,” he said, his breath fogging in the air like a ghost of something lost.
“Me too,” I said, a little too quickly. “Just moved there, actually.”
“Downtown?” He asked it casually, but his eyes were sharp, as if my answer might mean more than I realized.
“Royal Oak,” I said, nodding. “The old houses there... they’re beautiful.”
“They are,” he agreed, and there was something in the way he said it, like he was noticing things I didn’t even realize I was showing. His gaze flicked between my eyes and my lips, and for a moment, the air between us stretched thin, a fragile thread pulling us closer until a sharp gust of wind snapped it, jolting me back to reality.
"Welcome to Michigan," he said with a laugh, his voice warm against the icy air. Without warning, he reached down and took my bare hands in his. The warmth of his touch jolted through me, electric, racing straight to my core. For a second, I swore the ground shifted beneath us. Something unspoken buzzed between our hands.
“We should get you a cab,” he said, glancing down at my frozen fingers, his expression softening with concern. “You’re not exactly dressed for this weather.”
"Yeah, I probably should’ve planned better,” I admitted with a laugh, still caught up in the warmth of his hands, the way they made everything else feel just a little less cold.
He waved down a cab with the ease of someone who’s done it a hundred times. I watched him as he loaded my bags into the trunk, every movement feeling like a countdown. And then, when he opened the passenger door for me, I hesitated. I stood at the edge of that moment, torn between the part of me that wanted to leave and the part that wanted to stay, just a little longer.
“Thanks for the help,” I said, looking up at him, my heart thudding hard in my chest.
“Jungkook,” he said, his voice soft, that crooked smile still tugging at his lips. “I’m Jungkook.”
“Y/N,” I replied, the name slipping out of my mouth so naturally it felt like it was meant for him, like it was always supposed to be said here, in this cold, surreal moment.
“Y/N,” he repeated, like he was testing it on his tongue, like it was something fragile and precious. He leaned in just a little, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"Y/N?" His hand hovered near my shoulder, his voice even quieter now, almost as if he was about to share a secret meant only for me.
And suddenly, the world around us—everything—fell away. The cold, the noise, the blur of people rushing past. It was just him, standing there with that crooked grin, making me wonder if maybe—just maybe—this wasn’t the end of whatever this was.
“Yeah, Jungkook?” I asked, my breath catching, anticipation curling low in my stomach.
“My friends and I... we hang out at this bar on Grand most Tuesdays. Billy’s?” He said it like a suggestion, but it felt like more. Like a bridge to whatever might come next. “Maybe I’ll see you there sometime?”
A thrill shot through me, quick and unexpected. This wasn’t just some random, fleeting connection. He wanted to see me again. “Yeah,” I stammered, my voice barely steady. “I could swing by. Once I’m settled in.”
“Great.” His whole face lit up, and it was like watching a door creak open, revealing something softer, something vulnerable underneath. "I’ll see you around then, Y/N." He stepped back, shut the door behind me with a quiet finality.
As the cab pulled away, I turned, craning for one last look. He waved, easy and casual, and I lifted my hand in return, my heart still racing. Part of me wanted to freeze this moment, hold onto it before it slipped away. But the cab turned the corner, and just like that, he was gone.
I slumped back in the seat, exhaustion settling in like a heavy weight. I rested my head against the cold window, letting the chill ground me. This wasn’t just some daydream—it was real. And yet, as the city lights blurred by, doubts started creeping in, shadows curling at the edges of my mind. Would I really show up at Billy’s? Or would I let this whole thing fade, convincing myself it was just a fluke?
But then I thought about him—Jungkook. That crooked smile. And a small part of me couldn’t help but wonder... What if?

summary: back for your third summer in a row, you reconnect with your friends you hadn’t seen for a whole year, including one ellie williams. seeing her again brings back the silly crush you developed on her the first summer. you promised yourself that this summer would be different but your heart is betraying you.
pairing: ellie wiliams x fem!reader
contains: fluff, tension between ellie and abby, characters from a different au (steve & robin from stranger things), probably inaccurate depictions of summer camp because i’ve never been, maybe flirty!ellie :)
word count: 4.1K
a/n: i literally couldn’t think of any other name for extra characters. stranger things had been heavy on my mind even though 90% of the cast and production team are so insanely problematic. fuck the duffer brothers. but i am so so excited for yall to see what i have for this. a day late posting i apologize but i hope you guys enjoy <33
under the summer stars masterlist
Tumblr media
For the past two summers, you’ve been a camp counselor at Little Explorers Summer Camp. As irritating as the summer heat made you, being able to spend a month in this little paradise with the sweetest kids in the world made the burning UV rays worth it. You pulled into the parking lot, watching your friends from previous summers lining up beside you. You sent a text to your dads to let them know you’d arrived safely at the campsite.
As you adjust your minimal amount of makeup, you hear a knock on your window causing you to jump slightly and turn down your music that you had been listening to on the 3 hour drive. You turn your head and gasp in excitement as your good friend and fellow counselor, Jesse, tugs open your door.
“Oh my god, Jesse!” You chuckle as you step out of your driver's seat to wrap your arms around his neck.
He chuckled against your temple as he wrapped his arms around you, patting your back.
“Holy shit! Have you been working out? You nearly choked me out just now.” Jesse joked as he pulled back from your embrace.
You put your arm up to flex playfully, nodding with a cheeky smirk.
“Prepping for this summer, you know?” You shrugged your shoulders before looking over his shoulder to see a familiar blonde head making her way over.
“I think we should really put that to the test,” the blonde folded her own muscular forearms over her chest.
You make your way over to her to give her a tight hug as you had missed her presence dearly. Abby had become a close friend of yours after your first summer as a counselor being a year older than you and having more experience than you did.
“Abs, I missed you,” you laugh softly as she gives you a squeeze, slightly lifting you off the ground.
“I missed you too. Ready to deal with whiny kids and minimal air conditioning for a month?” Abby grinned from ear to ear as she pulled away, patting your shoulder.
“Oh, nothing but excitement and not at all fear,” you give her a thumbs up before you turn to see Jesse opening up your trunk to grab your suitcase.
You thank him as he breezes past you with your two suitcases, watching him walk down the gravel road to the counselors cabin. Abby mumbles ‘show off’ as Jesse lunges with your suitcases on either shoulder causing you to chuckle. The sun beat down on your exposed neck, beads of sweat already trickling down your back and centering on your upper lip.
You and Abby get to talking as you shut your car door, double locking it as you had the tendency to forget to lock your car. Abby explained to you how she had been excelling as a personal trainer back home, loving the differences she makes in people's lives. You were a barista at your campus when you weren't here at the campsite.
As you both walk up to the camp main office cabin, you notice a few other familiar faces. Dina, another fierce friend of yours, and Joel, one of the only mature adults in charge, both leaning against the old wooden railing with bright smiles.
“Well, who are those sexy ladies?” Dina shouts, cupping her palms over her mouth.
The sound caused the birds in the trees to scatter, you flinching at fluttering and squawking above you. You shake your head with a blush from not only the heat but her words.
“Dina,” Joel says warningly.
“What? The kids aren’t here yet.” Dina rolled her eyes playfully before making her way towards the two of you.
She threw each of her arms around your necks to pull you both into a quick but sweet hug.
“You’re one to talk. Hello? Your hair is growing and have you been doing squats?” You check her out as you admire her figure.
“My genetics blessed me.” Dina insisted with a bright smile.
The three of you were all sharing conversation as you walked up the steps, giving Joel friendly smiles and ‘hello’s. You peeked inside the cabin to see Jesse talking to the one person you were ashamedly the most excited to see. There she stood in a black tight wife pleaser, arms crossed in front of her chest as she nodded to whatever Jesse was rambling about. She even stopped her conversation with the man to walk up to you to give you the tightest hug, her toned arms wrapping around your frame.
Ellies’ sigh brushed against your temple, like she was relieved to see you. After all these summers, no one ever exchanged numbers so you yearned for her presence at the beginning of the month of June. Your dads already gave you a million pep talks but you told them your crush on Ellie was no more. Your heart betrayed your mindset as it fluttered at her grip on you, melting into the embrace without even realizing.
That is until Jesse spoke up.
“Jesus, Ellie, you guys are going to have a whole month together.”
This caused you to flip him off behind Ellie’s back. Ellie, sadly, pulled away regardless but didn’t let Jesse’s comment go unpunished and gave him a punch to his shoulder. He simply winced and rubbed the skin, shaking his head at the auburn haired girl.
“You’re just jealous because I’m her favorite,” Ellie snipped with a confident smile.
You couldn’t even lie as it wasn’t far off. It made you over think how you act around her. Have you made it obvious these past two summers how much you favored her?
“So are you guys excited for tonight?” Dina pipped in, raising her thick eyebrows as she glanced at everyone.
Every summer for as long as this camp has been active, all of the counselors take a night to go for a late night swim and a beautiful campfire to take the time to mentally and emotionally prepare for the next month.
The children come on Monday. It was Saturday so they had all of Sunday to prepare everything for the kids.
“Oh hell yeah. Dina and I are going to sneak into the dining hall to grab everything for the s’mores. What cabin did everyone get assigned to this year?” Jesse spoke up, grabbing the clipboard with everyone’s cabin and the amount of campers everyone had.
You glance at Ellie to motion to the clipboard. She grabbed your arm to tug you towards Jesse’s figure, peaking over at the highlighted names.
“Shit, Els, our cabins are right next to each other this year. T-Rex’s and Daisy’s.” You beam at her as you run your finger down the list.
“Finally. It’s been, like, three years and we’re right next door to one another.” Ellie looked over at you with just as much excitement in her sage green eyes.
You couldn’t help but match her excitement as you recalled the past two summers where the cabins you were assigned to were tens of feet away and you weren't able to see each other until lunch time or late at night. The cabins next to each other were usually teamed up to do activities with the kids together. More time to spend with Ellie.
Platonically and BFF-like, of course.
“Wait, Joel, where’s Steve and Robin?” You question the elder man as he walked through the screen door with a large box in his arms.
“Ah, those two will be here much later.” He paused to set down the box near a desk. “They missed a few exits and called ahead to let me know.”
You nod to yourself. Steve and Robin were like ying-yang twins. The brunette pretty boy and the freckled girl were the definition of platonic soulmates. It freaked you out how well they got along.
“Well until then, let’s all unpack our shit in our counselors cabins.” Jesse spoke up, grabbing one of his suitcases.
You agree and go to grab your suitcase when Abby and Ellie speak up.
“I can help—“
“Hey, no, I got it.”
You froze at the two of them reaching for your travel cases, looking in between the two of them.
“Guys, I can carry them myself,” you shake your head with a soft laugh but neither of the girls were having it.
“It’s like a mile walk to the Daisy cabin. I’m right next door. I can help,” Ellie emphasized, looking at Abby with a tight-lipped grin.
“A mile is not that far, Ellie. I really have no problem doing it.” Abby chuckled in Ellie’s face, grabbing the handle tightly to your carry-on suitcase with your toiletries.
Dina and Jesse exchange looks with you before silently maneuvering around the three of you to carry their own suitcases to their assigned cabins. Was there a weird tension between the two or was it just you?
“Okay! How about you both carry something? There. Problem solved.” You speak up, placing a hand on Ellie’s shoulder and turning to face Abby.
The two were driving causing your shoulders to set in a hunch at the strange encounter. The girls agreed on that before leaving the main cabin to yours. Abby’s biceps flexed as she carried the heavier suitcase with ease as Ellie rolled her eyes behind her, telling you to follow behind them so you could get settled in.
Reluctant already to walk in the shaded heat, you give Joel one more forced grin. He muttered ‘good luck’ before returning to his own tasks with what you swore was a teasing grin.
The walk to the cabin wasn’t as irritating as you were expecting as Ellie and Abby were right: you would’ve been complaining a lot more if you had a suitcase in each hand along with your carry on. The heat was causing your baby hairs to stick to your forehead, huffing in annoyance but keeping your snarky words to yourself as you arrived with the two very helpful girls.
Ellie kicked open the door, a soft grunt leaving her lips as she placed the suitcase she was holding next to your counselor bed. Abby did the same, stretching her palm in and out from the tight grip. You sigh as you lean against the doorway, feeling the cool A/C hit your face.
“See? Teamwork guys,” you give them both thumbs up. They looked back at you with panting chests but smiled at your words nonetheless. “I’ll catch up with you guys in a bit. Thank you, Els. Thanks, Abby.”
You give the girls a side hug — Ellie’s a little tighter than the blondes. Abby gave Ellie a look once over before leaving the cabin to have you and Ellie be on your own. Once the door shut, Ellie turned to you with a soft sigh. She placed her hands on her hips as she looked around at the cutesy decor that was floral themed. You took notice of how homey the bunk-beds felt in comparison to all of the other ones.
Sure, they were just as adorable but this one felt right. Or maybe it was the fact that a certain auburn haired girl was making you feel more at ease than ever.
“This is a cute little cabin. It suits you,” Ellie walked over to trace the mural of sunflowers with the campsite name in a beautiful cursive font.
“Right? It’s perfect. I mean, the Mushroom and Grizzly cabins were adorable but this feels a lot better for some reason.” You glance over at Ellie’s inked arm, sucking in a deep breath.
Ellie hummed in agreement, looking back over at you. You fiddled with your random bracelets, giving her the least awkward smile you could muster. She reciprocated the gesture right back and tilted her head to the left.
“I should probably head over next door to get all of my shit unpacked,” Ellie huffed out, walking over to you to be merely inches away from your face.
“I thought you were just going to annoy me for a little longer but if you wanna go, Els.” You tease, scrunching your nose at her.
She scoffed and leaned in, narrowing her eyes. “You love it when I annoy you.”
And how easily you could kiss me right now if you were willing, you thought.
“I guess I do since I keep you around,” you shrug your shoulders.
Ellie’s eyes poured into yours as she took a step back. Her hand reached at one of the ends of your braids, twirling it around her pointer finger. You watched her carefully as her smile slowly grew.
“You’re not sick of me yet?” She questioned, still messing with your hair.
Not in the slightest, your brain echoes.
“We’ll see. I’ll get back to you when the month is over.” You chuckle as she releases the dutch braid from her fingertips.
Ellie muttered ‘fair enough’ under her breath as she nodded to herself, a smile creeping on her lips. You watch her take a moment to glance around the cabin once over before inching towards the door.
“I’ll see you in a bit, okay? Campfire and then late night swimming.” Ellie pointed one finger at you expectantly.
“I know, Els. I’ll see you,” you give her one more nod.
“Wear something cute for the swim,” was the last thing she said before opening and shutting the door behind her.
You watched her now more blurred figure through the screen over the windows, waiting for her to leave before letting out a long sigh you weren't aware you were holding.
It was going to be a long month.
Tumblr media
After unpacking for what felt like centuries, you had everything in their correct places and were able to peacefully make your way to the campsite. All of the beds were made, your counselor door had your name in dry-erase along with the rules for the camp opposite of the door.
And maybe you took into consideration what Ellie said about the cute outfit and threw on a pair of brown cargo shorts and a loose white tee. You only brought three pairs of shoes so you landed on your black and white Reebok Club C’s. What’s underneath was also taken into consideration.
As you were shutting the door behind you, you turned around to see Dina standing right in front of you with her arms crossed and eyebrows raised. You scoot back as she had scared you with her silent presence.
“Hey D, everything okay?” You tilt your head at her as you make your way down the steps.
“What the hell was that with Abby and Ellie earlier?” She trailed behind you, speeding up her steps to walk beside you.
You glance at Dina as you recall how intense hours before were between your other two friends; one whom you felt more deeply for.
“I really have no idea. It was… freaky but hey, I got out of carrying my luggage.” You joke and Dina nods along with a weak chuckle.
“Yeah, that is true but I don’t know. Ellie and Abby have always been neck in neck for some reason. They get along enough to be cordial but those two can get on each other’s nerves fast.” Dina explained to you.
You never really noticed it before. You assumed it was because if you weren’t trying to make sure the children were pulling or cutting each other’s hair, bullying one another or making sure their bladders were in check. Along with your flourishing and embarrassing school-girl crush on Ellie blinding you.
“Why?” You question as the two of you were approaching the campfire that was sparkling and crackling under the setting sun.
“I really have no idea, babe but what I do know is that you’re not being any less obvious with your crush on Ellie.” Dina nudged you as she jerked her head to Ellie who was watching Joel pulling at the strings of his acoustic guitar, a bottle of Coke dangling from her long fingers.
The green eyed girl had a small smile on her pink lips as she watched the father figure in her life sing lowly with the tune. Her effortless beauty to you was always captivating. Maybe Dina was right.
“My crush is extremely under control,” you lie straight through your teeth.
“Suppressing it and not confessing is not having it under control,” Dina stated with a sigh, shaking her head.
“Okay, enough talking about it. Plus, I’m trying to move on, D.” You lower your voice once you approach the group of familiar faces.
Dina pressed her lips into a thin line as she respected your wishes. What you told her was half true. Yes, you did want this crush to wither away in the wind but you didn’t actually have someone else to fixate on.
”Robbie, hey!” Dina approaches Robin, giving her a quick hug.
Robin rested her chin on her shoulder with a soft chuckle, reciprocating the motion. You make your way over to Steve who was chugging a lime Gatorade. Everyone was wearing a mix of tank top and tees with either jean or cargo shorts with athletic sneakers. Steve, being the manwhore he was, had on 5 inch inseam jean shorts. He looked like he stepped out of a 1987 slasher movie.
“Hey, pretty boy,” you tease as you stare at his head of gorgeous hair.
Steve rolled his eyes playfully before wrapping his free arm around your waist from where you were standing quickly. You hear Ellie and Joel snort at your statement as Steve shakes his head at their laughter.
“What’s up, Bubbles?” He grinned up at you.
Now the entirety of the camp erupted into giggles at his nickname for you. Last summer, the children in your cabin pranked you with the help of Jesse and Steve. The idiots got all 12 kids an extra large bubble gun and doused you in soapy bubbles right after getting out of the shower. You swore half of them just went up your nose and in your mouth. The HD photo of you is hanging in the main office for everyone to see.
“Alright, alright, enough. You guys are asses.” Ellie spoke up but she covered her mouth to hide her own laughter.
You sit down next to Abby and point across the fire at the auburn haired girl.
“You better keep one eye open at night.” You shake your head, allowing the warmth of the fire and the soft tunes of Joel’s guitar put you at ease.
Everyone else ‘ooh’d’ and ‘damn’d’ at your words as Ellie merely shook her head. She didn’t believe you were going to really do anything to her. That is until the blonde sitting next to you threw her muscular arm over your shoulders, tugging you into her side.
“I’ll help you prank Williams. Let me know before we go on our weekly trips to town.” Abby whispered into your ear which caused weird shivers to trickle down your spine.
You send her a small smile with a soft ‘thanks’.
Before you knew it, everyone was sharing how their past year has been since the previous summer. The sticks were passed around with the huge marshmellows at the end, everyone roasting them to a slight crisp. This camp had been a second home to you and these people had become like family. You found out that Robin had finally made a move on that girl she had been cruising on for the past year and had a date with her when she got back from camp which everyone drank to. You pressed your melting marshmellow in between two graham crackers, a small amount of chocolate between the two as you weren’t the biggest chocolate fanatic.
Ellie was almost pressured into playing the guitar tonight but she insisted she saved it for the kids.
Just when you were trying to get over her she said something as sweet as that. God, you hated her. After everyone had inhaled their s’mores, a series of sighs and complaints about how hot it was trickled down the line of counselors.
“Screw it. It’s time for that late night swim.” Robin stated, standing up on her high-top Converse covered feet.
Even though the sun had been set for almost two hours now, you were still warm all over. The cool lake would be heavenly. Everyone except for Joel got up from their seats on the logs, making their way over to the lake.
“Y’all be safe now. Ev’rybody knows what to do when you’re done swimming right?”
They were scattered ‘yes’s’ and ‘got it, Dad’. In a sense, Joel was like a father figure to you all since each and every one of you viewed him as such; comforting and an older man.
Once he gave you guys the ‘okay’, the group took off in a sprint to the bridge overseeing the lake. You let out a loud laugh as you watched Steve trip over his shorts as he kicked the denim off. Everyone had left their clothes and shoes on the small wooden pier, each of you plopping in one by one.
You set your shorts aside hanging on the rail along with your shirt and shoes. You tried to ignore the negative thoughts about Ellie seeing your body in just your underwear; a pair of hipster panties and a bralette because you couldn’t stand wired bras.
”Come on! The water feels amazing,” you hear Robin shout.
You saw Dina shoving Steve’s head into the water with joyous laughter. Jesse, Robin and Abby will peacefully swim around in the dark water. The only source of light being the singular lamp post at the end of the pier and the moonbeams bouncing off the still water.
Then you see a familiar head of wet auburn hair pop up at the end of the wooden ledge.
“Don’t make me get out of this water and push you in,” Ellie warned but her smile showed she was only teasing.
You flip her off before motioning for her to back away from the pier.
“Move your head, Els. I don’t wanna risk accidentally kicking you in the face when I jump in.” You give her a pointed look.
“I could get a badass black eye though,” she raised a hand to push back her wet hair out of her face, giving you more of a view of her stupidly perfect side profile.
“No, seriously. I don’t want to hurt you. Please move.”
Ellie muttered an ‘alright, sorry’ before swimming backwards so that she was now in the little group, all eyes on you. You took a few large steps back, the rough wood tickling underneath your bare feet. You heard a few shouts of encouragement come from Ellie and Abby’s mouths.
Within minutes, you were sprinting off the pier into the deep water. The borderline freezing lake engulfed your body entirely. When your head popped back up above the water, everyone was cheering you on for the jump. You were shivering a bit until Ellie came up behind you, placing her palms on either one of your shoulders. The warmth of her hands eased your goosebumps that raised on your skin.
“So you did wear something cute for tonight,” Ellie said lowly, the cockiest and most stupid grin on her face.
At first, you thought she meant the clothes that were hanging off the pier but no, she meant the underwear that was now clinging to your body. Your cheeks flushed at her words, moving your falling bra strap back onto your shoulder.
“This is what was at the top of my suitcase.” You state before splashing her face with the water, leaning in closer so that you were inches apart. “Not everything is about you, Ellie.”
Ellie spat out what water got in her mouth before shaking her head as she smacked her lips against her teeth. It shouldn’t have been as attractive as it was.
“I missed you,” was all she said.
No sarcastic comment back. It sounded so genuine and maybe you felt bad for talking to her in that manner. You had to if you were ever going to move on from this fantasy world of Ellie liking you back.
“Well, I’m here now. I missed you more, Els.”
Ellie shook her head. “You can ask Joel. He’ll embarrass me with how much I was talking about how excited I was to see you again.”
Don’t, you shouted at your rapid beating heart. She misses me as a friend.
“I don’t think I have to ask. He loves embarrassing you enough on his own,” you reply with a shrug of your shoulders, kicking your legs through the thick water to keep yourself afloat.
Ellie chuckled as she agreed.
“Well, anyway, I can’t wait to have fun with you again. ”
You nod mindlessly, completely enamored with how soft and gentle her eyes looked under the minimal light as she spoke to you. You whispered, “me too.”
You were so screwed.

Father of Time, Chapter 7: What We Celebrate
“Dad, I don't know when my birthday is.” Link paused with a spoonful of porridge halfway to his mouth. He set the spoon back in the bowl, his brain finally awake enough to remember the plan for today.
“You had yours already. It was in the fall.”
Link stared suspiciously at his father, sitting across the table from him and calmly eating breakfast.  “You're not actually my dad, are you? How do you even know that?”
Deity gave him a mild look, blank eyes always filled with something . Link groaned and rubbed his hair into an even worse mess. “Ug fine, you're a god or something. I get it. Why didn't you tell me?”
“I cannot impart knowledge on you if I don't know you need it.”
Well, that was fair.
Link went back to eating, thoughts chasing each other around his head.  Well, that was one mystery solved. Maybe he could figure out–  “Mmmphl!”
“Don't talk with your mouth full.”
With a quick swallow that was slightly too hot on his throat, he waved his spoon around excitedly. “Dad! How old am I?!”
“Physically or mentally?”

Harlequin!Showtime fankid - Cade!
Tumblr media
I may be sick but this was so worth it
So remember when I said on main that I badly wanted to draw a Harlequin AU Showtime fankid? Yeah, this is the lil' bugger.
His original name is Caddi, and Cade is a shorter nickname. He's the first Child Puppet in history, and he's often referred to as a "Miracle Star" for it. He's fierce like his mom, smart like his dad, and twice as mischievous as both his parents will ever be. His classification of a Puppet is a Harlequin.
He pretty much likes to bite everything in range: whether that be fingers, heads, objects, furniture, etc, a trait he definitely got from his mother's side. At a young age he's already showing feats of intelligence, being interested in his father's tinkered machineries (and sometimes even allowed to participate in them), despite not even being able to talk yet.
No one exactly knows how Caddi came to be: One day Pomni simply showed signs of being weakened to the point of being bedridden, constantly fuming and having more tendencies to bite or attack when shocked or approached, as well as having cravings out of nowhere.
Caine was concerned by her situation, and examined Pomni's condition. He then sensed that Pomni's die was housing TWO souls, a smaller, incomplete one that was accidentally eating away at her own to grow stronger. Caine then proceeded to extract the incomplete energy to save her life, and transferred it to a smaller die, to which he informs Pomni about the news. He then gives her the choice whether to let the die complete it's still undergoing process of life, or to obliterate the little, forming soul.
Pomni chose the former.
The Puppetmaster then spent many sun and moons of trial and error to figure out how the little die wanted it's form to turn out, until one day he realized this wasn't his theory of Pomni's soul splitting apart to create a newer being: Somehow, he had a hand in it's creation and he doesn't fully know why, or how it even came to be in the first place.
So taking a brave risk, he came up with a design that combined both him and Pomni's features, into a smaller, compact puppet.
The little soul accepted this new form, twinkling brightly like a star in the sky, and was officially born.
He may be a handful at times, but gosh darn does his parents love him regardless.
