For today's installment of "saying things until I can start consistently applying them to myself" we have quite the doozy!

So anyways, it's better to use minorly unhealthy coping mechanisms than to not cope at all. If, for instance, skin picking is the only thing keeping you from having a panic attack while walking home, or somehow endangering yourself, choose the option that's going to keep you some what calm and safe. Sure, it'd be better to have a fidgit toy or something, but this is the real world, not some idealist fantasy land. Sometimes you're not going to have the best tools for the problem at hand, sometimes you just have to do your best with what you've got. Sometimes all you can do is survive whatever is happening in the moment and try to do better next time.

Sometimes real life is about the lesser evils.
