Todays Word Of The Day is: Apocryphal
Apocryphal originates from Greek apokryphos(hidden). The word entered English in the 16th century. It describes something that is likely untrue.

Nothing exists for us but what we feel, and we project this into the past, as into the future, without allowing ourselves to be restrained by the fictitious barrier of death.

I'm sure this has already been said, but we need a proper prestige TV adaptation of Moby-Dick. For 10 minutes out of every episode, it becomes a nature documentary about whales.

@light-koe-pinsky I think I saw you tag a post with a prompt like this and my brain went on autopilot /pos
Yeah so, in my mind, the difference between modern Bugs and classic Bugs is that classic Bugs was unmedicated. Daffy should be on meds, but gets by unmedicated a lot better than Bugs.
Also Daffy would use this scenario as an excuse for why he should be the one managing Bugs’ finances.

Idk I feel like if you need to deny historical facts to make your point, your point is probably shit.
If you're out there claiming that the Virgin Mary was Muslim (? Islam wouldn't even be a thing for another 6 centuries, it is the youngest of the Abrahamic religions, what do they even teach you at school) or that she was "Palestinian" (the name the Romans gave the region of Judea in the 2nd century as a "fuck you" to the Jews for their rebellion, it's related to the word Philistine), then it's going to be harder to take the otherwise good points you might be making about the war, Palestinian suffering and civilian casualties seriously. If you're out there taking easily disproved propaganda lies as fact because you hate Israel and Jewish people, you're actually completely invalidating your argument.
This is my entire issue with the so-called 'pro-Palestine' movement and why I had to stop attending peace rallies, like it is one thing to say that the Jewish immigration in the 19th and early 20th century displaced Muslims who had been living in the region for centuries and an another thing entirely to just fully outright deny the history of the region, the history of Jewish suffering and the Jewish connection to the land.
Tld,dr Mary couldn't be Muslim because Islam didn't exist yet, and she couldn't be Palestinian because the region wasn't called that yet either. Those are the facts. You can bitch and moan about it all you want, but feelings aren't facts, the facts are against you, and if you need to twist the facts to fit a narrative then it's time to take a huge fucking step back and wonder when you became the thing you claim to hate: a raging bigot who doesn't give two shits about historical truths and would rather put your fingers in your ears and close your eyes forever and believe ahistorical lies that confirm your biases rather than face the inconvenient truths.

Decorative Sunday
Today we present all the chapter-head designs from Paraphs by Hermann Püterschein, printed in an edition of 540 copies at the Plimpton Press in Norwood, Connecticut, and published in New York by Alfred A. Knopf in 1928. It was the first (and the only) production of the Publications of the Society of Calligraphers.
The Society was an entirely fictitious organization promulgated by the American book and type designer, and popularizer of the term "graphic design," W. A. Dwiggins (1880-1956). Dwiggins had "founded" the Society in 1919 as a vehicle to promote his ideas about design and to promote himself as a designer of books rather than as the advertising designer with which he began his career. Dwiggins was the secretary of the Society and his alter ego Hermann Püterschein was its president; it had no other official members, although many were in on the ruse.
The Society produced three other publications (not part of the stated "Publications of the Society of Calligraphers") before Paraphs (1919, 1924, 1925), and a plethora of printed ephemera, letterheads, envelopes, documents, certificates, etc., to legitimize its official status. Dwiggins goals appear to have been successful as he soon became sought after by book publishers and type foundries, and Paraphs was the last Society publication.
The chapter-head illustrations for Paraphs are typical Dwiggins designs. Our copy is another donation from the estate of our friend Dennis Bayuzick.
