Hi have you ever seen the OP to Fate/Extra CCC?

The music is incredible, fits the tone of the game so well—beautiful, but also dark, with that quality of a long journey—and Shaft did a great job on the animation.

But I wanna focus on 0:55.

This is a BB post.

The way AI Sakura leaps into the upside down tree that represents the Dark Side. The single flashback to that traumatic moment when she glimpsed the horrible, unacceptable future that she tore herself apart to prevent.

And the wild-eyed feral violence of the naked newborn BB, the bloody, traumatic moment of her birth as the music swells, the way the tree blooms and splits and bleeds with her and tears open and she sits in the branches like a demon, a wild animal.

and that final corpselike frame… it’s a horror story.

BB is horror, she’s a horror character. Not just for others. For herself, too.

Do you see how it recontextualizes the cute uniform she wears? The sadness in the little dance she does? Her horror at seeing Hakuno erased by the Moon Cell?

BB is a character made from terrible pain. She’s afraid and she’s falling apart and she’s making a desperate gamble and she’s violent and her very grasp on reality is hard fought.

She doesn’t have the luxury of mental stability or safety. What she’s attempting is too far beyond her for those things.

Do you see how much is underneath the mischievous lastboss kouhai mask she puts on? How much she never, never shows anyone?

Underneath that mask is pain and desperation. And underneath that, a love so strong it would drive her to jump into an unknown hell, tear off pieces of herself and messily graft on new ones.

All to protect the one she loves. She would do anything, no matter the cost to herself or others. Anything.
