I know nothing about FF15 or Noctis, so I was just as clueless as my WoL during this event

FFXIVwrite2024 Appreciation Post!
Tumblr media
Having just recovered from my efforts at completing FFXIVwrite20224 (organised by the inestimable @sea-wolf-coast-to-coast) I thought it might be a good idea to celebrate just some of the excellent writing produced by the FFXIV Community for the event!
Saturnine by @naejlas-axe. A great piece of writing about an OC doing a piece of writing - it's very meta! Plus I suggested the word for it!
Taken by @kannedia. Semi-platonic piratical parleying. I learned that QPR does not always mean the football team!
Bar by @lilbittymonster. Featuring the Chais, who are some of my favourite characters. This one's on the Archive of Our Own site, but it still counts I think.
Two Heads Are Better Than One by @musesofawolf. Fun with Thancred! Definitely a blog you should be following.
Steer by @johnnylandslide. Alisaie takes a driving lesson with a bit of a FFXV crossover.
Perpetuity by @hares-and-hounds. A brief reflective piece. I enjoyed how the entries tracked the character's story at different ages.
Reticent by @starrysnowdrop. A certain Astrologian has an accurate prediction of future events. Hali is always a joy!
Third-Rate by @elliewiltarwyn. A great scene set at the end of ARR/beginning of Heavensward. Plus extra credit to the writer for producing so much work whilst very poorly.
On Cloud Nine by @autumnslance. A unique perspective on events from an unexpected source.
Zip by @ainyan. A short, but sweet little piece that I really liked. Romantic and just a little bit suggestive.
Stamp by @astrology-bf. A little piece of erotic writing about... well erotic writing of a slightly different kind.
Horizon by @otherworldseekers. A particularly nice piece that takes the prompt and does something unexpectedly romantic with it!
Cellar (free day) by @houserosaire. I really enjoyed this piece. Two refined Ishgardian gentleman have a meaningful exchange in a wine cellar.
Shade by @umbralaether. A wistful, but intriguing piece that I enjoyed very much.
Hackneyed by @irisopranta. A piece of fanfiction about fictional fanfiction. I laughed a lot!
Obviously this is just a small selection of writing from a small selection of writers, but definitely worth checking out. I will post a masterlist of my nonsense FFXIVwrite2024 pieces at some point, but I can't promise it will approach the quality of any of these examples!

Behold, a poll completely unrelated to punching or hugging!
No nuance, no "I don't want Kingdom Hearts in my Final Fantasy", I just wanna know.
(personally I'd love to fight Zenos as a bonus boss in the next Kingdom Hearts)

FFXV Crossover Fic
I've been working on an FFXV crossover fic. It's not a super big thing - in fact, it's just going to be a single one-shot that's not going to be too terribly different from the way the FFXIV event played out.
...except in this case, it's all four of the guys, instead of just Noctis.
It should be fun, due to it being a pretty different setting (different, yet alike) with a fun group of four. One of them is a chaos gremlin, so there should be shenanigans.
I'll keep what this is crossing over with a surprise for now, but there may be a bit of a tease in the snippet I've got below the cut.
Enjoy!
---
Everything all started in Steyliff. During a hunt to go back in — because they were crazy and wanted to go back into that place, for some reason — Prompto managed to find a route that they hadn't uncovered before.
"Did we come through here last time?" Noctis mumbled as he looked around. Conveniently, there weren't any daemons, which made exploring it a little more entertaining, at least.
Gladio and Ignis stayed close while Prompto just trailed in, complete with the shutter sounds of his camera. "I dunno about you guys, but this area seems really different."
"Agreed." Ignis reached out to one of the walls. "There are some patterns worked into the stone that don't seem to match the rest of the ruins. I daresay that these patterns appear to even deviate from what we've seen in other Solheim era locations."
Gladio scuffed at the ground with the toe of one of his boots. "The materials seem to be different too."
"What do you think, Noct?"
Ignis tossed the question at Noctis who had stopped to set his hand on the wall. He offered a non-commital, "It's okay," in response. Truth be told, however, it was anything but. He could sense magic in the place, but nothing at all like anything he felt through the rest of Steyliff.
It was like this specific chamber of the ruins followed its own rules, separate from anything else they had uncovered before.
"Just okay?" Gladio decided to needle him for more information…
…except he didn't have the chance to clarify when Prompto called out a loud, "Woah!" Noctis and Gladio glanced back.
"Is that a gargoyle?!" Prompto's immediate reaction, of course, was to take a picture.
He was joined by Ignis who approached the stone. It was the base of a column and sure enough, there was an intricate gargoyle design carved into it. "This is quite unusual. Lucian architecture had pulled from stories and myths and used gargoyles in their decorations, but I believe that is a practice that began well after the fall of the Solheim civilization."
Noct snorted a laugh. Even Ignis was fascinated with the place. Sure, so what it was fascinating, but…
"You didn't sound so impressed." Gladio asked him. He must have picked up on his apprehension.
With an eyeroll, Noctis looked up at his Shield. "It's more that things feel weird here."
"Weird?"
"Yeah," Noctis hated it when he had to clarify things like this. "It's like… I feel something like magic, but it's not like magic at the same time."
Gladio crossed his arms. "That doesn't make any sense."
"You did ask." He had it coming. Finally, Noctis scoffed a little and said, "Maybe I should say that it doesn't feel like any magic I know. Better?"
"A little." Gladio turned his attention back to the other pair. "Iggy, any idea why this is here now?"

To commemorate the fact that I finally defeated Garuda in the FFXIV/FFXV crossover event, here's a picture of Lana with Noctis that I took yesterday
Along with a picture of Lana in some new fit because I am weak to shiny objects so now I'm broke but it's okay it's worth it
(honestly, after the Garuda fight, I couldn't help but imagine how Hope and Josie would have reacted to meeting Noctis and helping him out on his quests.
I think Josie would have absolutely been down to help while Hope would have been like "why tf would I want to do that?" and then Josie would be like "Hope." It would be cute imagining their interaction with Noctis and I feel like Hope and Noctis would get along pretty quickly as they both have a lot on their plate or have this pressure of expectations pushed onto them.
Anyways, this is making me want to continue my Hosie/FFXV AU fic that I started and then stopped. Maybe I'll touch up on that fic, I know I have the next chapter started)

FFXIVWrite '24
I've been meaning to throw together a quick note about what I wrote for FFXIV Write 2024, which was my first foray into this specific event and also into sharing fan fiction in general.
I just think it's interesting to see who and what I was writing about when I was forced to come up with something every day, how it moved me outside of my comfort zone and took me into unexpected places, a surprising number of which involved pirates.
So . . . I completed one fic for each day (though a couple of days included continuations from earlier prompts, most were standalone). I had the availability during September to make each of them a long-ish fic, roughly 1500-2500 words on average, which I did just to see if I could.
The subject matter breaks down as follows:
Chalcedony, 6 fics
Dorayaki, 5 fics
Aymeric, 5 fics (most of which he spent pining for Dorayaki)
Pirate captains of Limsa Lominsa, 5 fics (four of which were varying levels of filthy)
Thancred/Urianger, 4 fics (mostly mutual pining)
G'raha Tia, 2 fics (mostly unrequited pining -- I'm mean to Raha)
Ancients, 2 fics
Lucia Junius, 2 fics
Emmanellain, 2 fics
The Twelve, 1 fic
Dawntrail, 1 fic
Zero, 1 fic
one crossover fic, covering the FFXV crossover event and the car of my dreams
(Yes, that adds up to more than 30: some fics had more than one main subject or fall into two separate categories.)
Of my 30 fics, 7 were explicit: three about Carvallain and Rhoswen, one about just Rhoswen and her crew, two about Hien, and one about Thancred.
Major surprise of the season: I was really into pirates. Carvallain and Rhoswen are an endless well of drama that I never get tired of drawing from. Sicard is also fun. And you know who I love who's not a pirate? EMMANELLAIN. This is going places.
I'm definitely too lazy to link all of these, but if somebody requests a specific link in the comments I will for sure post it. Or just check out emet_selkie on AO3.

Oh I did the ffxvi event in ffxiv today and it was real good!
Made me want to replay 16 even more than I did the other day xD
The 2 little mechanics they give you for the fight were so much fun to play with! A lot more interesting than the fight you do in the ffxv crossover imo!
The rewards you get for the quest are very generous but I still bought all the music since I had just over 2 million mgp anyway xD

Proposed Live a Live crossover for FFXIV
It’s probably not gonna happen but hey, they crossed over with Octopath Traveler’s Gatcha game so that’s cool. SE if you see this you can buy the idea off me for 20 bucks, I want this so badly. Also, spoilers for Live a Live, I don’t care if the game’s 30 next year, the remake’s almost exactly a year old. But since Oersted’s on the cover and in the trailers, his existence is no longer being treated as a spoiler.
Tumblr media
[Typical Random Roulette let’s be honest]
I’m torn between the requirement being The Black Wolf's Ultimatum/the end of ARR or being set post ShB. But the basic concept stays the same, just depends on if we roast G’raha for his habit of cross the rift gatcha rolls.
The WoL gets a quest of something weird happening in the shroud, typical event quest nonsense. They go to investigate and lo, 5 weirdos.
Their hostile at first until the Yugioh Protagonist Reject goes “Wait, they just thought of themselves as the Warrior of Light, they might know something, don’t stab them.”
A ninja decloaks behind you.
So they introduce themselves, as Akira, Oboromaru, Masaru, Lei (I’m picking her because she’s popular of the Shifu’s three students and to have a girl in here), The Sundown Kid (The Kid’s fine), and the little robot is Cube.
Yes he’s round. Don’t worry about that.
They pause, count, and realize one of them is missing, so first task is go find Pogo.
Fortunately, it is not hard to find the caveman that’s dancing around excitedly, having found a boar. Which your party now has to deal with.
The WoL fights it, I think, so the others can go “cool, you do know how to fight” and also “this is Pogo. We think that’s his name. He responds to at least.”
Akira, who’s psychic btw: “Listen, the dude thinks in shapes, that’s what I’ve got. He doesn’t do words.”
Now that they’ve got him, they explain that something like this has happened to them before, and they’re pretty sure they just need to find a “Lord of Dark” and defeat him, and they can all go home.
Possibly a debate here about an unnamed ‘him’ that they’re unsure if they need to look before resuming that they’re happy to have the WoL along for help.
At this point you would be able to bring up Zodiark, (possibly special dialogue if after EW) and they all agree that while that sounds bad that doesn’t sound like who they’re looking for.
“Lord of Dark? Name probably starts with an O and gonna be a reoccuring pain?”
The WoL: Odin maybe?
They decide that the Odi in Odin and the title “the Dark Divinity” is a pretty solid lead, and ask you to help them find him and beat him up so they can all go home.
Like the FFXV crossover, you’d get to hang out with them a bit and chat, but it would probably be twice, either the group broken in half so you have a smaller group to chat with, or you pick two characters to talk to.
(If you pick Cube you two just vibe in silence, before Cube offers you a warm drink)
If chosen, they all (Pogo and Cube excluded) talk a bit about where their from and evil they’ve faced before, and give the WoL some advice and encouragement.
That over with, they queue in unsynced since they don’t have a healer, they’re like four DPS, two tanks, and whatever Cube is. (Baby and the one with an AoE heal).
So the eight of you fight Odin, and yeah, he’s not his normal self, something’s definitely warped him to be more like the seven of them remember, but you’re bringing him down, until it hits the DPS check that Odin always has.
This is a scripted loss, in that the other 7 get knocked on their asses, while the WoL is still up, but so is Odin.
When a new voice calls out “gods damn you!” and jumps in. The final hero, and the only one who looks like he fits the current setting, Oersted.
(I have mentally written dialogue for this btw, I’m just skipping a lot of it so as to avoid making this post longer. I’d say avoid subjecting you to my brain rot but you’re getting it already.)
WoL and Oersted go for it, and Oersted is definitely wrecking shop. His dmg output is insane. [Not because he’s my blorbo and poor little meowmeow but because that’s a reflection of the game, his stats are NUTS compared to the others]
Odin gets defeated, duty complete, huzzah.
The heroes get up, check each other over, chat a bit, before Akira probably goes “alright, I know this one [WoL] doesn’t talk much, but we all know you can.”
Oersted: “What a terrible thing, so filled with malice, and with hate. How far it must have reached to find this seed, to water it thus.”
I am bad at iambic pentameter but he definitely speaks in it, adjust accordingly.
Anyway, they all seem a bit wary of Oersted but he thanks you for the chance to fight beside a companion again, and to be cautious of letting hate fester in you, and to be sure to nourish love and hope instead.
They all take their leave, quest ended, you’ve spent time with them, defeated the bad guy yay! (Replay the quest to hang out with different NPCs the true LaL experience)
Quest rewards: Cube Minion, Megalomania Orchestrion (YES I SPELLED THAT RIGHT IT’S MANIA NOT VANIA THIS TIME), and limited time glamours in the Gold Saucer such as Sundown’s Poncho and Hat (not visible on Hrothgar and Viera)
Please look forward to it (never happenng)

Newish here but not to FFXIV. I’ve been playing since 2016 and created Noctis in early 2018. Imagine my surprise when the FFXIVxFFXV crossover event arrived! I was excited, that’s for sure.
This will mostly be a blog for my screenshots. I will reblog whatever I see fit but it will really only be sfw content related to XIV. You might see a few FFXV reblogs sprinkled around because obviously, Noctis (and the chocobros too). You’ve been warned!
I’m also rather introverted so if you’re expecting constant communication and all that, I’m sorry to say it isn’t very likely. At least, I won’t make the first steps to do so unless I’ve already known you from Twitter. I expect this blog to be small due to that and that’s okay because it will be more in my comfort zone anyway. It’s nice to meet you regardless if you decide to give me a chance. o/

FFXIV x FFXVI
So, I did the crossover event yesterday with Yorina (will play it with as much characters as possible because every character should have a Mini-Torgal 😊)
However... I am not entirely sure if the event itself is good or not. Storytelling wise. I played FFXVI and I know what the stuff with Clive is all about. Not sure how people who couldn't play it yet and still want to, feel about the "spoilers" in the crossover event. Maybe it isn't as "bad' as I feel it is, but I have the feeling the FFXV-crossover event was more vague here with what it tells about FFXV but maybe I just don't recall it correctly (also possible)
Anyway, was to tired yesterday evening but I totally have to take some obligatory "Your WoL in Clive's attire"-screenshots because Yori looks quite nice in it I'd say ^^
Edit: and the combat instance was good. The fight was fun - for a lvl 50 synced fight. Most jobs aren't fun to play / feel boring at lvl 50 (in my opinion) but the implemented "FFXVI - mechanics" compensated that in a refreshing way.

Well I beat FFXVI today. My opinion on it is that it was just...
decent. 6/10 tops
Unlike FFXV which was worse the more you played it, FFXVI was better the more you played it (the early game sucks in 16)
im still not sure why there's nude scenes? seemed like they were put in just to make the game a mature rating (other than the swearing i guess). There was only one scene where the nude scene added anything to the story and they didn't even need to be nude for it.
I am now just waiting for a FFXIV crossover event, hoping for another HD miqo'te like the ff15 crossover event (an HD viera would be cool too)
I'm hoping for the next final fantasy that they come up with something new instead of making heavy use of the eikons/primals again.
