So, as you may know if you've been watching the tags, I spazzed and completely missed Feuilly Week. So, as per the poll I sent out this week, the majority of people wanted to just extend Feuilly Week through the end of November, so you have a chance to finish (or start! ;D) any works you would like to. Enough people were interested in a second Feuilly Week before next October, though, so I may consider running one in early April, perhaps? But that's not set in stone.
So, without further ado................
Hello, fellow Feuilly lovers!
Feuilly Appreciation Week is here!
All  fanworks are welcome: fanfiction, fanart, photosets, gifsets, fanmixes,  fanvids, polyvore sets, cosplay, moodboards – you name the medium, it’s  welcome.  ^_^  The only requirement is that your fanwork be centered on  Feuilly.
Gen works are welcome.  Ship works are welcome  (platonic or romantic).  As long as Feuilly plays a starring role in  whatever you’re creating, anything else can fly.  ^_^
And because this has come up a few times, yes you absolutely can tag your any works for other events for Feuilly Week as well. (For example, I think @brickrenouveautions is kicking off soon?)  The more Feuilly, the merrier!  ;D
The week will run from November 12th to November 30th.
The tag for the week is #feuilly week or #feuillyweek (or #feuilly week 2024 / #feuillyweek2024).
I  will be doing my best to track the tag and reblog everything posted for  the week to this blog, but tags have been really dodgy since... forever... so if you really want to be sure I’ll see it, please @ this blog!
If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to the blog ( @feuillyweek ) or the mod’s blog ( @eirenical ).
For more information, please try the FAQ.
And please feel free to signal boost this elsewhere (Discord or Twitter or wherever fandom people are congregating) if you feel comfortable doing so!

Dial Drunk
5 times Enjolras bailed Grantaire out of jail, and one time, well...
The door of the holding cell clanked open and as one, the nine men sitting inside glanced up. “Alright,” the booking officer said in a bored tone, glancing down at his clipboard. “Bail’s been posted for arrestees Bahorel, Combeferre, Courfeyrac, Enjolras, Feuilly, Joly, Lesgle and Prouvaire. You’re free to leave after you sign out at the front desk.”
There were a few grumbles as the men started to get to their feet, but Enjolras remained resolutely seated, his brow furrowed with a frown. “What about Grantaire?”
The man in question chuckled darkly, tilting his head back to rest it against the wall of the holding cell. “Is that actual concern for me that I hear, Apollo? I could die happy.”
Enjolras ignored him. “Pontmercy was supposed to post bail for all of us,” he said instead, aiming his words at Courfeyrac as if the man was somehow still responsible for the actions of his former roommate some five years after they had stopped living together.
Courfeyrac just shrugged. “Don’t look at me,” he said. “I mean, we all know Marius is a bit of an idiot, maybe he miscounted.”
Combeferre shook his head. “I’m probably wrong and should defer to the lawyers amongst us but I thought I remembered reading something in one of the articles about reforming pre-trial detention that an individual can only post bail for 8 detainees at a time.”
“And so I must’ve drawn the short straw,” Grantaire sighed. “Story of my fucking life.”
Bossuet clapped him sympathetically on the shoulder. “On the other hand, you could take it as a compliment that Marius thinks you’re the one most likely to survive an extended stay behind bars.”
Bahorel snorted so loudly the bars of the cell almost rattled. “Sorry but literally not a single one of us would survive an extended stay behind bars.”
“Speak for yourself,” Feuilly said. “I know how to whittle.” At the blank looks he received, he huffed a sigh and added, “So I can make a shank. No wonder none of you would survive in jail.”
“This is making our goal of prison abolition seem oddly self-serving,” Joly murmured in an undertone to Jehan, who stifled a laugh.
Combeferre cleared his throat. “Not that I’m not sympathetic to Grantaire having to be stuck in here, but I’d just like to remind everyone that since Marius posted bail, we’re technically now here voluntarily.”
“Yeah so GTFO,” Grantaire said with a grimace masquerading as a smile. “Let me rot in peace, etcetera.”
Enjolras looked like he wanted to argue more, but Combeferre muttered something in his ear and he made a face before filing out of the cell. “Serious miscalculation on Marius’s part with this one,” Courfeyrac said brightly as he followed everyone else out. “Because God knows you’re going to complain about this for the rest of all time.”
Grantaire gave him the finger and Courfeyrac winked as the officer closed the cell door behind him.
Sighing again, Grantaire sat upright, rolling his shoulders and cracking his neck before settling back against the bench. “You need anything?” the booking officer asked.
Grantaire shook his head. “Nah,” he said dismissively. “Not my first rodeo. Hopefully I won’t be stuck overnight, but I’ve slept in worse places.”
“Oh, yeah?” the officer said with mild interest.
Grantaire nodded. “Central booking at the 16th Precinct is a piece of shit,” he said brightly.
The officer barked a laugh. “I’ll keep that in mind.” He gave Grantaire a long look. “Should I ask what you were picked up for previously?”
Considering the answer to that question was a vast litany of misdemeanors (and felonies reduced to misdemeanors) that the boys in blue tended not to appreciate, Grantaire hesitated. Thankfully, he was saved from having to answer at all by the crackle of the officer’s walkie-talkie. “Just a moment,” the officer told him, heading out of the booking area and Grantaire let out a sigh of relief as he slumped on the bench.
“You’re free to go,” the officer said upon returning, and Grantaire looked up, surprised.
“Really?”
The officer nodded, opening the door to the holding cell. “Bail was posted. So I guess you’ll have to save your rap sheet for the next time you’re in here.”
Grantaire snorted a laugh. “I’d say there won’t be a next time, but…”
He ducked out before the officer could respond to that, making his way to the front desk, stopping in his tracks when he saw Enjolras leaning against the desk, clearly waiting for him. “What’re you doing here?”
Enjolras straightened. “It didn’t feel right leaving you in there,” he said with a shrug that didn’t quite come across as nonchalant as he’d probably intended. “And I happened to have some cash on me, so…”
“Between this and being worried about my welfare, you’re gonna give me the wrong impression,” Grantaire said.
“Guess that depends on what impression you’re getting,” Enjolras said, and Grantaire’s eyes flickered to his and away again, feeling suddenly tongue-tied. Enjolras cleared his throat, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. “Anyway, we should get to the Musain to debrief.” He glanced at Grantaire. “Unless you’ve got something better to do.”
Grantaire just shook his head, and gestured for Enjolras to lead the way. “After you,” he said, his voice low, and together they walked out of the precinct, their arms just brushing against each other as they headed to meet their friends at the Musain.
— — — — —
“Jesus Christ,” Enjolras muttered as the booking officer removed the handcuffs from a sheepish-looking Grantaire. Well, as sheepish as a man sporting the beginnings of a pretty impressive black eye could look, anyway. “Here,” Enjolras said roughly, holding an ice pack out to Grantaire. “I posted your bail as well.”
“Thanks,” Grantaire muttered, taking the ice pack and wincing as he pressed it against his eye.
Enjolras pursed his lips as he gave him a once-over. “Any other injuries I need to worry about?” he asked.
Grantaire just shrugged. “Nothing that won’t heal on its own.”
“Because that’s reassuring,” Enjolras sighed, rubbing his forehead, but when he looked at Grantaire again, there was something almost soft in his expression. “You didn’t need to do that.”
What he could see of Grantaire’s expression tightened, just slightly. “You didn’t hear what that guy called you.”
He said it calmly, evenly, but his hand automatically balled into a fist at the memory. Enjolras reached out automatically to rest his hand on Grantaire’s fist until it relaxed. “It doesn’t matter what he called me,” he said, his voice low. “I can take care of myself.”
“Of course you can,” Grantaire scoffed. “But that doesn’t mean you should have to.”
Enjolras just shook his head, running his thumb across Grantaire’s bruised knuckles, a testament to the fact that despite the black eye, he’d emerged from the fight victorious. “I should’ve brought another ice pack,” he murmured.
Grantaire just half-smiled, twisting his hand so that he could lace his fingers with Enjolras’s. “It’s fine,” he said softly. “It doesn’t really hurt at the moment anyway.”
Enjolras cleared his throat and looked away, but he didn’t try to untangle his fingers from Grantaire’s. “Well,” he said, “we should, uh, get out of here.”
“Before they realize you have about a half dozen outstanding warrants for your arrest?” Grantaire asked with a smirk, his voice quiet enough that only Enjolras could hear.
“You’d be amazed what having a multi-million dollar settlement pending against the city will do to the police’s willingness to bring you in,” Enjolras said with a smirk. “Not that I want to test that, of course.”
“Liar,” Grantaire said, grinning. “But better safe than sorry, I suppose.”
He started toward the door, pausing when Enjolras didn’t immediately follow. “Thank you, by the way,” Enjolras said, and Grantaire glanced back at him.
“Anytime,” he said simply. “Thanks for bailing me out.”
Enjolras gave him a look that was half-amused, half-exasperated. “Just don’t go making a habit of it,” he warned. “One day I won’t be here to bail you out.”
“Only because you’ll probably be locked up with me,” Grantaire said.
“Well,” Enjolras murmured, not quite able to stop his smile, “you’re not wrong.”
— — — — —
Grantaire rested his elbows against the bars of the holding cell, his arms dangling into what was technically freedom on the other side. The booking officer, some new guy he didn’t recognize, gave him a look but didn’t say anything, which he took as a small victory, and he allowed himself a small smirk.
A smirk that faded as soon as he saw Enjolras, escorted by another officer. “No dice on bail?” Grantaire asked, seeing the look on Enjolras’s face.
Enjolras shook his head. “No, they’re going to go through the whole arraignment rigamarole. I’ve already let Pontmercy know.” He made a face, casting an irritated look at the booking officer who was pretending not to listen to their conversation. “Apparently they take battery of a police officer pretty seriously these days.”
“Can’t imagine why,” Grantaire muttered. Enjolras sighed and Grantaire gave him a look. “Don’t even start,” he warned. “This wasn’t about you not being able to take care of yourself—”
“That wasn’t what I was going to say,” Enjolras interrupted, his voice tight. “I’m well aware that cop would’ve bashed my head in if you hadn’t intervened.” He shook his head and sighed again. “I was going to say thank you.”
“Oh,” Grantaire said, managing a tight smile. “You’re welcome.”
Enjolras just shook his head again. “You still shouldn’t have done it,” he continued, “because honestly, I’m not worth all that—”
“You are, though,” Grantaire said, in a tone that brooked no argument. Enjolras scowled and Grantaire rolled his eyes. “Fine, then why don’t we make a deal?” he said. “I’ll stop defending you when you stop bailing me out.”
“At the rate you’re going, I won’t be able to anyway,” Enjolras said sourly. “Not without putting up some major collateral.”
Grantaire shook his head. “And I’m definitely not worth that,” he said.
Enjolras’s eyes met his. “You are, though.”
For a moment, it looked like Grantaire might argue. Instead, he reached for Enjolras’s hand, bringing it up to kiss his knuckles through the bars of the holding cell. “No touching,” the booking officer barked, and Grantaire rolled his eyes as he reluctantly let go of Enjolras’s hand.
“Will you be at my arraignment?” he asked.
Enjolras shrugged. “Someone’s got to post whatever bail amount the judge decides,” he said.
Grantaire half-smiled. “In that case, I’ll be the one in the front.”
“Pretty sure that’ll be the judge,” Enjolras murmured, grinning when Grantaire rolled his eyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow. I promise.”
“It’ll be the only thing that gets me through spending the night in here,” Grantaire told him, and it was Enjolras’s turn to roll his eyes, though there was obvious affection in the motion.
“Pretty sure Bahorel was right,” he said. “You definitely wouldn’t survive in jail.”
Grantaire just shrugged. “Only if you were in there with me.”
Enjolras shook his head, reluctantly backing away toward the door. “Still time,” he said, and Grantaire’s eyes narrowed.
“Don’t you dare do anything stupid while I’m locked up in here.”
Enjolras just smirked. “See you tomorrow,” he called over his shoulder as he left, and Grantaire sighed, though there something strangely content in the noise, despite, or maybe because of, the circumstances.
— — — — —
Grantaire didn’t meet Enjolras’s eyes as he rapped his fingers impatiently against the front desk at the precinct, waiting for them to bring him his personal effects. “Do you have any idea what time it is?” Enjolras asked, his voice tight. Grantaire looked pointedly at the conspicuous clock on the wall and Enjolras’s scowl deepened. “Exactly, it’s 2 in the fucking morning. I have a 7 o’clock meeting, which you knew damn well, so why you had to go pick a bar fight with some guy twice your fucking size—”
“So sorry to be an inconvenience to you,” Grantaire drawled, slurring his words just slightly. “Can’t imagine what it must be like to have made plans that get interfered with by someone else’s priorities.”
Enjolras ground his teeth together. “Are we really doing this here and now?” he asked.
Grantaire just jerked a shrug, not meeting his eyes. “Do you have something better to do?”
Enjolras sighed and scrubbed a tired hand across his face. “I’m sorry that I had to cancel tonight,” he said, with as much patience as he could seemingly muster, considering the circumstances. “But I needed to get this proposal done ahead of the meeting tomorrow, and I don’t really see what the big deal—”
“You never do,” Grantaire interrupted, still not looking at him. “That’s the problem.”
“You knew going into this—”
“Just like you knew going into this that I’m a drunk and a disaster,” Grantaire interrupted, finally looking at Enjolras, his expression hard. “Well, congratulations, Apollo, it looks like we both knew what we were getting into and yet somehow, we’re both still disappointed.”
Enjolras just shook his head. “I’m not,” he said tiredly. “I’m not disappointed, Grantaire, because that would require me to actually expect better from you, and I learned my lesson on that a long time ago.”
Grantaire just grinned, a horrible, twisted grin. “Right back atcha.”
The officer returned with Grantaire’s belongings, and Grantaire grabbed his phone, wallet and keys, returning them to his pockets. Enjolras took a deep breath, but whatever he clearly wanted to say seemed to stick in his throat, and he looked away. “C’mon,” he said instead. “Let’s go home.”
Grantaire nodded once, shoving his hands in his pockets as he slumped after Enjolras, neither man touching the other.
— — — — —
“He’s not technically under arrest,” the cop told Enjolras as he led him back to the holding cell. “But that’s because we couldn’t really mirandize him when he was passed out.”
Enjolras eyed Grantaire, sprawled across the bench in the holding cell, and sighed. “So once he’s coherent, he’ll be charged with, what, drunk and disorderly?”
The officer nodded. “Yeah.” He glanced at Enjolras. “Look, it’s not my place, but, uh, maybe look into getting your friend some help?”
“Yeah,” Enjolras murmured, his expression drawn. “Maybe.” He sighed and turned. “Guess I’ll go preemtively pay his bail—”
“Apollo?” Grantaire croaked, and Enjolras sighed again.
“Give us a moment?” he asked the officer, who just shrugged.
Enjolras crossed to the bars of the holding cell, his arms crossed tightly in front of his chest. “Tell me,” he said, his tone clipped, “were you trying to get hit by a car by passing out in the street, or would have just been a fun little side effect of this spectacular attempt at blowing up your life?”
Grantaire groaned as he forced himself into a sitting position. “Honestly don’t remember if it was deliberate or not,” he muttered, swaying slightly as he blinked unfocusedly at Enjolras.
“There are easier ways of killing yourself,” Enjolras said.
Grantaire managed a small, sharp smile. “Don’t worry, I’ve considered those as well.”
Enjolras’s expression tightened and he looked away. “You used your one phone call for me,” he said.
Grantaire shrugged. “Didn’t know who else to call.”
“Probably anyone besides your ex.” Grantaire flinched and Enjolras sighed before telling him, as firmly as he could manage, “This is the last time. Do you understand?”
Grantaire barked a dry, humorless laugh. “If there’s one thing I can promise, Apollo, it’s that this won’t be the last time.”
“Maybe not for you,” Enjolras said. “But I’m done. So the next time you get picked up for a bar fight or public intoxication or whatever suicidal shit you decide to get yourself into next time, call someone else.”
He didn’t wait for Grantaire to answer, just turning on heel to leave him in the holding cell while he went to go pay his bail.
One last time.
— — — — —
The phone rang, and rang again, and Grantaire’s grip on the phone tightened. “Come on,” he muttered to himself. “Come on, pick up, pick up.”
But the phone just rang until the tinny, robotic voice informed him that no voicemail had been set up for this phone number, and he heaved a sigh as he hung up, a headache blooming in his temples that had absolutely nothing to the better part of a handle of whiskey that he’d worked his way through that evening.
“Nothing?” the booking officer asked, and Grantaire ground his teeth together at the fake sympathetic tone.
“Nope,” he said, popping the ‘p’, and he scrubbed a hand across his face before heading back to the holding cell.
The booking officer trailed after him. “Do you, uh, want to try calling someone else?”
Grantaire just shook his head. “No,” he said, crossing his arms in front of his chest as the officer opened the door of the cell for him. “I’ll try again later. He’s probably asleep.”
The officer glanced up at the clock that showed it was barely 10pm, and he shook his head as he closed the door after Grantaire. “Your choice,” he said with a shrug.
Grantaire sighed heavily as he slumped down onto the hard metal bench, his fingers twitching as if he wanted to reach for an absent glass or bottle of beer, or else for a hand that used to be his to hold. His throat felt tight and he swallowed hard, tilting his head back to rest it against the wall of the holding cell.
He closed his eyes against the tears that he could feel prick in the corners of his eyes, though he honestly didn’t know if he was crying because Enjolras hadn’t picked up, or because there was a part of him that still thought that maybe, in the morning, he would. One more time.

watching les mis bootlegs everyday
Day 3
okay so this was meant to be a daily thing but I literally passed out from exhaustion half way through this performance then was immediately sick the next two days. This may be a sign from the universe, however, this sign can’t stop me cause I can’t read.
14/6/2014 West End Production
Https://youtu.be/ucpfyLQKif8?si=AURouDP1jYXb5ZFl
To preface, this is incredibly biased because this is a rewatch of the first bootleg I ever watched of Les Mis and was literally my introduction to Les mis
it holds a very very very special place in my heart
first off literally one of the most powerful singing from Valjean I’ve heard
Tumblr media
Incredible!!
oml Na-Young Jeon plays Fantine and she is literally my favourite Fantine ever I love her so my she is how I have always and will always picture Fantine she is literally the greatest
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she’s gorgeous like just look at her
She has a power in her voice that I don’t hear often in other Fantine’s
she’s literally perfect
theres a moment in at the end of the day where she attempts to stop Valjean from leaving cause she knows what’s going to happen
Tumblr media
Carrie Hope Fletcher as Eponine!!!
Amazing of course
Tumblr media
She’s an icon she’s a legend
a little fall of rain actually hurt my soul so much
She’s such a good actress I will literally shout it from the rooftops
Tumblr media
Cosette oh Cosette i cannot speak enough about her
her acting was actually incredible especially in the finale and her face is so expressive I can’t even
this post is just turning into actress appreciation at this point
Marius was such a Little loser this performance
Tumblr media
At least he can sing
empty chairs and empty tables broke me
Enjolras had a little bow in his ponytail
Im pretty sure Javert gets a little bow in his hair at some point later as well
but you cannot tell me this is not one of the most Enjolras looking Enjolrases to even Enjolras
Tumblr media
He gets all up close and personal with Javert
now for my little Grantaire tangent
i absolutely loved Grantaire in this performance I think this was my favourite portrayal of him ever
he as a really good relationship with Gavroche it’s so cute
When Gavroche is accusing Javert he flings his arms around and almost knocks Grantaire in the face
Grantaire holds onto Gavroche to keep him away from the guns
Tumblr media
My sillies
and when Gavroche dies and the set spins to return to the barricade boys the spotlight is on Grantaire as he slowly sits down after witnessing it
:)
After a little fall of rain Enjolras steps forward to speak to Marius but Grantaire steps between them stopping him from getting any closer before comforting Marius
In Drink with me Grantaire tries to (or does I can’t tell) kiss Joly
Tumblr media
Then he fucking sobs through his solo and hugs Enjolras who sits him down and takes away his drink
Tumblr media
then he REACHES OUT TO ENJOLRAS
i cant do this
and on the Barricade Enjolras runs all the way down from the top to see Grantaire then they both climb back up together
also he’s either wearing eyeliner or it just looks like he’s wearing eyeliner
his actor was just really really good in general
and that is why I love Grantaire thank you for coming to my Ted talk
Tumblr media
After the finale battle Javert tried to open the sewer grate then GROWLS ‘Valjean’
like actually
through out the entire show this man is just full on GROWLING
Tumblr media
Javert’s soliloquy was a masterpiece genuinely
his transition from the bridge to the ground was so smooth I have no clue how they did that
i mean…he kinda… *gets spritzed with water and starts melting like that witch*
Tumblr media
The Thenadiers are like exactly how I pictured them to look
plus they were both real good
Tumblr media
^^Now I know you can’t tell, but this here is a picture of Feuilly holding Enjolras by the waist (it’s canon fr fr)
shout out to this random woman and barricade boy who are being adorable in the background while Marius is lamenting about his sad sad life
Tumblr media
time for my lighting nerd moment!
the majority of especially the first part of the performance the stage is like entirely dark with a single spotlight
particularly with individual songs but for like most of the songs that aren’t group songs (red and black or one day more ect)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s done SO well and looks SO good
it’s very impressive how exact the spotlights are
It feels like this performance is very character focused rather than set
especially because the person filming tends to zoom in on the actors faces to capture their expressions
They make really good use of smoke the whole performance it’s very nice
Tumblr media
I like how they used smoke with coloured lighting at the beginning of at the end of the day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sequence was very nice
and in the sewers they used a bunch of spotlights to show Valjean and Marius travelling
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
they also use a grate light for the sewers and dog eats dog which worked really well imo
if you want the full stage the whole time you absolutely will not get that for most of the performance
the person filming is actually pretty good at catching faces
Overall the performance was so incredible
i am very biased so take everything with a grain of salt
but definitely one of, if not my favourite bootleg
now I leave you with two of my favourite screenshots
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you have suggestions for other good bootlegs please let me know (YouTube only)

so guys a little while ago i came up with a les mis artistic au that I think would be interesting for you to acknowledge! so basically the idea of it is this:
everything takes place in modern france. les amis + cosette + eponine (basically the youngsters mentioned in the second volume (maybe even montparnasse)) are studying in the académie des beaux-arts on two different faculties, visual arts and music. i am yet to figure out who studies what, but some things are already obvious to me, so I would like to share some of them with you
• first of all the dean of the faculty of visual arts is valjean, the dean of the one of music — javert. their approaches to what is art and how one should give a proper education on it are quite different — opposite, even, because where valjean strives for freedom in self-expression and his students’ own unique understanding, javert is equally devoted to precision (which is, for every performer who I have a misfortune to be myself, is as beneficial as it is painful, sometimes even destructive to the very purpose of performing music)
of course it would be silly to expect such a confrontation would not affect their students.
• so, very vaguely: enjolras, combeferre, courfeyrac (because i couldn’t force myself to separate the great trio of The leader, The guide and The centre™), jehan, marius and cosette are all in the orchestra.
- enjolras is a conductor, of course
- combeferre is the first violin. sometimes when enjolras by some miracle is not present at the rehearsal, he fulfills his duties — and, believe me, his tolerating attitude really is a blessing to the musicians
- courfeyrac is either a timpanist or a pianist-accompaniator (both options make perfect sense in my mind and I cannot decide)
- jehan is a harpist (feel free to make your own suggestions, but I tried to express his passion for middle ages, romantism and his poetical nature with this choice)
- marius is a violinist because I thought it would be hilarious for him to play soppy melodies whenever he’s pining on cosette
- cosette herself is a cellist. at first, i was going to make her an opera singer (soprano), then i was contemplating on her being a violinist as well, but then I thought — goddamn it, i love women who play cello, and it would reflect her character so well (which i of course am planning to develop a bit from what monsieur hugo provided us with), and I just don’t want to see her as something high-pitched! the solemn and a bit sorrowful, yet so noble and beautiful timbre of cello seems to suit her image in my mind.
• as for the artists, here we have OBVIOUSLY my man grantaire, eponine, joly + bossuet, feuilly and bahorel. most of them are painters, with few exceptions: for example, joly is a sculptor in my mind, and feuilly does decorative art (also I am sorry he is also a student here and joly is not a medic it is all only for the sake of the composition)
i don’t want to make this post too long so I shall continue in the next ones! i hope this idea is entertaining enough for you my fellow readers. also i think it is pretty obvious that i have little to no knowledge at all about visual arts so please be free to comment your own thoughts
(also i am new to the fandom (although I’ve been into les mis for quite some time now) and I would really appreciate any sort of communication) :)

Hi, I was just wondering about the "most popular fanfic in a fandom that is actually bad" post you reblogged - was that about Les Mis? Also, do you have fic recs for less known fics?
well anon, I only read les mis fics for the most part. Take from that what you will lol
And I am always SO happy to recommend less known fics. All of the below have less than 200 kudos on ao3, and they deserve MORE. Remember to kudos and comment if you enjoy any of them, the authors will really appreciate it <3
The Future's Owned by You and Me (quillsand)- The most Enjolras/Feuilly fic of all time, with activism at the forefront. Gorgeously written by one of my fave authors in the fandom, PLEASE give this one more hype
In an Age without Heroes (ShitpostingfromtheBarricade)- ExR, a takedown of the prison industrial complex featuring gloryhole soulmates and Oprah. It makes sense in context TRUST ME
Meanwhile, A Glacier (standalone)- ExR, Les Amis are climate activists, free climbing cliff faces for great justice
Still Crazy After All These Years (Need_To_Comment_Rising)- Courferre, middle aged Courfeyrac and Combeferre reunite after a long time apart and reminisce about their relationship
Beyond the Sycamore Tree (auxprouvaires)- big moment for all our toxic ExR fans out there. A dystopia in which Enjolras gets Don't Worry Darling'ed
& i will follow you into the dark (toomuchsky)- ExR. Grantaire as a jaded former activist, this fic is all about the activism!
speak in words you've picked up as you walk through life alone (combeauferre)- Courfeyrac & Jehan. In which Courfeyrac doesn't sing when he's unhappy, and the house has been silent for four months 🥺
Out of Touch (ShameDumpster)- Courfeyrac & Enjolras. In which Enjolras is touch starved and confused, and Courfeyrac reminds him he doesn't have to be
a New Year's reading list for you enjoy!!!!

Okay, I'm not done cross-posting, but I've reached page 8 of my fic tag and still need to go through the asks, and I've started thinking mean things about past!Tamara, so it's time to stop! I ended up cross-posting 15 fics, most of them actually recognizable as fics rather than headcanon rambles or ask games. For the curious, here they are. I didn't go for composer-style titles, but given how I devolved into random single verb titles by the end, maybe I should have...
The Family Stuart (Askbox game in the key of Robin Stuart)
And yet they persist (Duet for Immortal Bahorel and Ghost Jehan)
History's Eyes (Philosophy in Barricade Day Major)
The Element of Surprise (Space AU in Battle Pillow Major)
Now the fighting's done (Dirge for Fallen Leader in the key of dysfunctional survivors)
Demons (Askbox game in the key of Sirius Black [This one would be Duet for Solo Voice except I have an actual fic called that])
A doctor's heart (Sick fic in C/C minor)
The burden of evidence (Modern AU in author projection major)

dropping by to say that i loveeeeed revenir it made me sob like a BABY <333 i hope you're doing well! anyways for the fic writer asks: 3, 8, 29, anddd share a sentence that you're proud of! <3
thank you so much, i'm so glad you liked it!! <3 sorry for making you cry -- but only slightly. what you're telling me is sort of an artist's dream... hope it wasn't too devastating...
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
ohohoho what a question. there are things that i like in every fic i've written mostly because i'm proud of myself for writing anything at all -- until the end of everything, for example, i had points with where i really doubted if it would get finished. i like suckerpunch for the things that other people tell me they appreciate in it -- and it may well be recency bias, but right now i think i do like revenir the best! it feels the most cohesive and consistent to me currently, and as a first attempt at canon era i don't think i did too bad of a job (?). this being said, i do like to imagine that my favourite fic of my own has not been written yet. something to spur me on
8. What project(s) are you currently working on?
i have a few different things that i'm dipping in and out of semi-regularly but strangely enough i have planned out almost an entire bahorel/feuilly fic this week, borne from a prompt from the trope generator. after looking at my most recently posted fics on ao3 i thought 'wow, i think i need to do something more light-hearted next' and so i am going to Trope Central, in which bahorel and feuilly fake date as a way to try and encourage some other members of their group to Get Their Shit Together, and end up in a private and pretty intense game of chicken... its fairly ridiculous but it will make sense. i promise (i hope)
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
i think i've spoken before about the bbc race across the world AU that i had for a while and have since scrapped because i couldn't bear to write the logistics of the show/race (sad) -- anyway this was from a section in which grantaire is trying to convince eponine to spend some of their team's limited funds on a small basement gig during one leg of the race, because he's overwhelmed and needs to be moshing for his mental health. (this is something that comes up in one of my current wips too. i love a moshpit and i love to use them symbolically. i'm also projecting)
“I’m fucking tired, R.” “And I fucking need this, Ep.” He’s almost pleading, searching her eyes because she knows him, she knows that he needs this sometimes, knows that there are times he goes out in search of a crowd to throw himself into even if she doesn’t entirely understand why. “Please. I’m asking you for this, as something I need. I feel like I could claw my fucking skin off. I need to just–“ he gestures at the building, at the poster. “I need it.”
share a sentence that you're proud of!
Grantaire is cynical, and it underpins everything else Enjolras knows about him: the way he structures his arguments, his stances on philosophy, the references to mythology he drops into conversation as casually as other people talk about the weather.
from suckerpunch :D

Feuilly things I don't see being talked about (at all)
The Feuilly episode of my little barricade boys appreciation post series where I reread the Brick and listed some details I would otherwise forget, things that might be interesting and also more general stuff about the Amis.
orphan and worker in a fan factory
earns three Francs a day
taught himself reading and writing, history and politics
has a big heart
his specialties: Greece, Poland, Hungary, Roumania, Italy
going into the revolution with a: "Long live Poland!"
commands the rebels behind the windows of the Corinthe
uses the two hours the Amis get for sleeping to engrave a Long live the peoples into the wall
his biggest fan might quite possibly be Enjolras
making ammunition with Bossuet
the barricade's principal architect
speaks for the other insurgents (when talking with Marius)
Feuilly. Deserves. A. Better. Death. Scene.
(Episode 1: Courfeyrac, Episode 2: Jehan, Episode 3: Bahorel, Episode 5: Joly, Episode 6: Bossuet, Episode 7: Combeferre, Episode 8: Enjolras, Episode 9: Grantaire)

Something something Barricade Day to you all!
[runs for cover]
Not a comic this year! Due to Work, Life, and Other Weird Stuff, I had all of five days instead of the usual two weeks or so to get this year’s Thing done, which sort of limited my options. The script I’ve been working on for the last two years got shelved, Feuilly and Gavroche got spared.... and Courfeyrac won the Barricade Lottery. Umm.
My profound thanks to @ellie-valsin for her comprehensive guide to 1830s men’s fashion, which I consulted extensively while cooking this up. Any mistakes/inaccuracies/ anachronisms/typos lurking in this piece are deeply regretted (they are to be blamed upon excessive sleep deprivation). Any distress caused by this post.... not so much. ;)
[Yes, I realise I didn’t include every last item in a gentleman’s wardrobe, but there’s only so much I could complete in five days. LOL. Besides, (1) that would’ve been bordering on pedantry, and (2) I doubt if anyone wants to see me dragging this horror for longer than it already is....]
[If Courfeyrac’s Scarlett O’Hara impersonation looks a little familiar.... then you probably (1) follow me on Dreamwidth, or (2) used to lurk at Abaisse -- in which case, hello!]
[Re: Shirt (Section 6) - I realise that one likely does not carry off a body in such a fashion, but I doubted that anyone would appreciate Bahorel getting hauled off like a sack of potatoes...]

Les Mis Fandom Calendar -- September 2022
Sorry, everyone, it’s been... a summer.  *sigh*  I’m going to try to stay more on top of this, but if people could help me out by letting me know of Les Mis fandom events that are going on (either sending me an ask or @ing the blog), then that would be greatly appreciated!
More information can be found on the calendar, but we all know how tumblr is about adding links to posts these days…
Enjoy!
Upcoming Events:
September 2022: August 28-September 3: Romanticism Pan-Fandom Week ( @romantic-army; mod: @akallabeth-joie) – tags: #Romanticism Pan-Fandom Week 4-10: Cosette Appreciation Week ( @cosette-appreciation-week; mod: @akallabeth-joie) 18-24: Brick ReNouveauTions ( @brickrenouveautions; mod: @shitpostingfromthebarricade) – tags: #Brick ReNouveauTions (not case-sensitive) or #2022 brick renouveautions
October 2022: 16-22: Feuilly Appreciation Week ( @feuillyweek; mod: @eirenical) – tag: #feuilly week 24-30: Logic and Philosophy (Enjolras x Combeferre) Week ( @logic-and-philosophy; mod: @oilan) --tags: #logic and philosophy week
Non-Les Mis Specific Events: Trick-or-Treat Exchange (currently in sign-ups from 9/11 to 9/18) has several Les Mis canons in the tagset Yuletide Exchange (nominations from 9/19-9/29; sign-ups from 10/14-10/22) usually manages to squeak some version of Les Mis in through nominations (Arm Joe or Dallas Les Mis, iirc?) National Novel Writing Month (November 1-30)
As always, if you are interested in running a fandom event or know of a fandom event that isn’t on the calendar, please let me know so I can add it! (Preferably use the @ function or send an ask. Tags are unreliable at best, these days, and this is a side blog now so I’m not sure messages work.  You can also reblog this post with the information or submit it to the blog.  Thanks! ^_^)

Ahem.  *clears throat*  Is this thing on?  ^_^
Hello, fellow Feuilly lovers!
Feuilly Appreciation Week is on its way!
The week will run from October 15th to October 21st.
The tag for the week is #feuilly week or #feuillyweek.
I will be doing my best to track the tag and reblog everything posted for the week to this blog, but tags are still not the most reliable, so if you really want to be sure I’ll see it, please @ this blog in your post!
If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to the blog ( @feuillyweek ) or the mod’s blog ( @eirenical ). My only request is please don't use the messages function on the feuillyweek blog. I don't check the blog regularly and I'll probably miss it. Please send an ask instead.
For more information, please try the FAQ ( feuillyweek.tumblr. com/faq ).
And please feel free to signal boost this elsewhere (Discord or Twitter or wherever fandom people are congregating) if you feel comfortable doing so!

Les Amis style guide //part 6// Feuilly
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve been really really tired and drained lately and just unable to do anything but recently I just remembered how much I love posting these and seeing all the feedback and I just- yeah, thank you guys so much for the support this silly little series has gotten. Anyway so Feuilly, so much to say about Feuilly, so little time. For Feuilly I wanted to give him a lot of brown-ish/cream-ish, light earthy tones because thats what I mostly associate with him, Feuilly definitely puts comfort over style but that doesnt stop him from having a neat sense of style for himself I think! I do believe that he’d just own some items of clothing that he’d just wear over and over and over, kinda like his go-to’s but more extreme??? comfort items of clothing??? yeah.
Anyway I hope you guys liked this one as much as I do! As always, all feedback is appreciated, and do let me know which amis you want to see next!!!
See also Enjolras / Combeferre / Courfeyrac / Jehan / Grantaire

today I am going to share my favorite Les Mis fics with the class
All are set in canon era unless otherwise specified. Not presented in any specific order.
Mysterious Tongues by kvikindi. Rating: M. archive warning: None apply.
This is the fic that singlehandedly made Combeferre/Prouvaire my Les Mis OTP. First you get to know them and their initial friendship, then you see them get together; sounds simple, but it's put together in a complex and deeply satisfying way. The characterization is so damn vibrant and and the prose is simply masterful. It comes across as a very intellectual fic, for lack of better adjective; you can't rush through it, you have to go slowly and thoroughly so as to pick up on every nuance and absorb every detail. But you like doing that, because it's the fic equivalent of a gourmet dinner. Has a one-shot sequel, All Seasons Shall be Sweet To Thee.
A Passion for the Absolute by AMarguerite. Rating: T. Archive warning: Contains depictions of violence.
I won't lie to you folks, this is a LONG fic, but every bit of it is important to the story and worth reading. This is a slow-burn Enjolras/Courfeyrac fic, and is the only fic to ever make me ship it, which I usually do not do at all. It deals carefully and period-accurately with cultural prejudices, as well as character development and interpersonal matters both between the primary pairing and the other characters. Everyone who shows up in this fic is fleshed out and fully realized, as is the historical setting in general, and the slow-burn is just fabulous (and agonizing.)
I Have Come to Sleep with You and its sequel Je Me Souviendrai by eirenical. Rating: T (both.) Archive warning: Major character death (the first), depictions of violence (the second is tagged as such, but the first also depicts aftermath of violence.)
It's hard to explain this pair of fics without giving spoilers, and I don't want to spoil it, because the most effective way to experience the complete narrative is a) not to know how the first fic ends and then b) to go into the second fic not knowing how it continues from the first. What I will say is that Feuilly and Courfeyrac are the major characters involved, and it's an AU of the aftermath of the barricades, and platonic love is a major aspect of the story here, although there is another very, very significant angle to the story that I refuse to spoil. I'll also say that this two-part story is of the most fascinating and heart-ruining fics I've ever read.
The Fakest Fake-Dating AU, a series comprised of a 4 chapter "main" fic and a one-shot sequel/companion fic, by Elenchus. Rating: G. archive warning: None apply.
This is possibly the funniest Les Mis fic I've ever read. It's a "loosely canon-era" fake-dating AU, wherein Bahorel and Grantaire come up with an outrageous plan to help Marius secure his grandfather's permission to marry Cosette. Cousin Theodule also makes a few appearances. It's chaotic and ridiculous and surprisingly in-character and the prose is delightful. I won't explain the exact details of the aforementioned outrageous plan (though the title may give some hints!) but it's a fic that has to be experienced to be appreciated; descriptions don't do it justice.
But Better is Beer if Drink We Lack by Dinglechen. Rating: G. Archive warnings: None apply.
A LOTR-crossover fic wherein Les Amis, post-barricade, find themselves in Hobbiton rather than in whatever afterlife they might have been expecting. No major LOTR characters appear; I'm not sure what Middle Earth era this is set in, though I would guess it's probably set at some point post-ROTK. The fic is told from Bahorel's POV, and it's just a simple vignette of them adjusting to life among the hobbits, learning the language and culture etc., but so unbelievably cute I want to make everyone read it.
And last: A very special fic, Blood and Wine are Red by chasingtides. Rating: T. Archive warnings: None apply.
This is one hell of a longfic, folks. It's a 17th century England historical AU where Les Amis, led by Enjolras, have formed a commune as an offshoot of the Levellers, who were an early sort of religion-based proto-socialist movement. You don't need to be super up on all the historical background to read the fic; things are explained pretty well therein. Among other things, it's an ExR fic, but not of a sort that I have ever seen before; I won't give details, as part of the interest of this particular depiction is watching it develop. The primary POV character is Grantaire, who comes into the commune as a sort of new recruit who doesn't buy the commune's beliefs and who struggles with mental health issues that are dealt with really well. This is essentially a full-on AU novel that takes on period social issues, mental health issues, and religious matters, and a fairly obscure historical background and does it very, very well. It made me believe that these were actual alternate-setting versions of the Les Mis characters, who had developed to be the way that they're depicted due to differences in their lived experiences, rather than mostly-OCs with the same names.
