Dearest Gentle Reader,
I’m about to step on some toes in regard to the Opening Ceremony at the Paris Olympics.
The headless woman was Marie Antoinette. She ruled over France and was found guilty of treason, conspiracy, and stealing from the country.
Sound familiar?
Also, it was not the Last Supper. It was a depiction of an ancient Greek Bacchanal… because, you know, the Olympics are ancient and Greek. Surprise!
And if you didn’t know, a Bacchanalia is an uncontrollably promiscuous, extravagant, and loud party. The parties often spanned several days which honored the god of wine, Bacchus (the blue guy covered in grape vine). He is also known as Dionysus, the Greek god of fertility, later known as the god of wine and pleasure.
And finally, it was not Death on a pale horse. It was Sequana, Goddess of the Seine, the River in which the boat precession took place. She was meant to be the representation of the Olympic spirit and of Sequana.
Loosen the clutch on your pearls.
Yours truly,
Lady Francis

Cotton candy, anyone? This woman made them fresh at the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy in 1952. But don't count on them costing a dime anymore.

if you're taking art requests,
I am fueled by people's follower ocs. Disciples, spouses, just little dude you took a shine to for whatever reason.
If you have any or want to please show them, I already find your art so chewable and I would like fresh meat.
(In all seriousness your art is really really good and you deserve so much more recognition for it oh my God everything looks so good <3<3)

Spring Feast VI | Answers I
(Continued from Spring Feast Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5, for @glorfindel-of-rivendell.)
It has been a long day.
The feasting and dancing had gone on for some time; Elrond had eventually cut in to claim his own dance with Erestor, during which he had said little beyond bland commentary on the day but fixed Erestor with knowing, pleased looks, which Erestor had chosen to ignore. He and Glorfindel had retreated to their table for more drinks and desserts and then left early, taking a detour to find perhaps the last unused large vase in the House for Erestor's roses.
Now they stand before Erestor's door; he opens it and gestures Glorfindel in, nerves twisting his stomach. He has been ignoring it all evening, but the fact remains that Glorfindel is apparently not at liberty to pursue what they both want, and he has many questions. If such things are forbidden to Glorfindel, what of today, this day that they have granted themselves? Will there be consequences? Will the reborn Elf ever be granted the freedom to have such things, or must he defeat Sauron first? Will he even be allowed to stay after that, or must he return once his job is done as the host of Finarfin had?
How can the Valar justify denying Glorfindel this when even they are wed?
"If you do not mind, I was hoping we could talk."

This year, the Feast of San Gennaro lasts from September 12 through 19. You can stroll down Mulberry Street and buy something to eat like the food this gentleman was cooking in 1947.

Feast of Renenutet
Em Hotep! Today is the feast of Renenutet! A harvest festival where we celebrate the Goddess Renenutet, Goddess of the harvest, and the birth of Nepri, the grain God.
There is not a lot of information on how this celebration was practiced in antiquity, but luckily we know what and who it was celebrating.
Personally, I use this festival to celebrate early spring and the planting season. My family grows crops which we will be planting soon so I ask for blessings for a good Harvest this year. As well, it is a time to venerate your ancestors and deceased loved ones, and ask Renenutet, Beautiful of Appearances, to protect them and keep them in her care.
Here is how I celebrate:
I usually first take a shower or bath for ritual purity, and then I do the usual like light incense, candles and play music.
I then pray asking for a good harvest and a blessed spring, then I give the offerings.
The feast
I usually give an offering of these things on a tray:
Bread
Milk
Water
Apples
Lettuce
Cheese
Crackers
Honey
Kiwi
Oranges
Happy Feast of Renenutet, may the coming of the new season treat you wonderfully, and may your harvest be bountiful and prosperous!

Imagine reading The Lord of the Rings through a secular lens. So instead of the day the One Ring was destroyed being also the date of the Annunciation, the Crucifixion, and the first day of creation, it's just Amazon's Tolkien Day.
