I was playing AAI2 and was struck with the sudden idea to look up the french version of some of the characters’ names and omg i need to talk about them. I found some of them to be really funny/interesting! this is going to be a long post sorry.

In case you didn’t know Miles Edgeworth is called "Benjamin Hunter" which is…definitely a choice? yeah not too fond of this one ngl

Our beloved Dick Gumshoe is called "Dick Tektiv"! Which might be my favorite “pun name” ever in the french version. i love it sm

Kay Faraday is called “Cléa Faradet", pretty similar and goes with the same idea as the english one.

Next is my boy Sebastian Debeste (Eustace Winner). Now this one i find hilarious for some reason bc in french he’s called “EUSTACHE VICTOR” (don’t pay attention to the screencap in game he’s called eustache).

Next one is Verity Gavèlle and her french name is “Justine Delcour”. This one is pretty interesting bc the french version actually resembles the fan translation “Justine Courtney”. Idk why the french localization decided to go with this version since apparently in the french fan translation her name was “Justine Egal” = Justine Equal

Eddie Fender (Raymond Shields) in french is called “Freddie Lapointe” literally it translates to “Freddie TheAce” which yk. fits. i guess. since he keeps calling himself an ace attorney

And finally, we get for Gregory Edgeworth “Henri Hunter” and to me this fits his character so well ?? yeah that man is called Henri Hunter.
